Before-meeting:
You have just entered room "valarguildmeetingplace."
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Heya.
ArPharazonV: Aiya
ArPharazonV: STill in ZA. Have some membership news, will give it, late if necessary.
Eonwe Valar: ok.
AriehnV has entered the room.
AriehnV: aiya there :-)
Eonwe Valar: Heya.
ArPharazonV: Aiya
Eonwe Valar: We'll give it a couple more minutes to see who else shows up.
Eonwe Valar: I expect we'll have a pretty quick meeting.
Eonwe Valar: OK, let's begin the meeting.
top

Eonwe Valar: Elen Sila Lumenn Omentielvo!
Eonwe Valar: Membership:
Eonwe Valar: Elwing says heya to everyone from WoW. I was in there about 30 minutes ago, and said I'd pass that along.
Eonwe Valar: Still in ZA, Phar, or able to give your Membership News now?
AriehnV: hes still in Za
Eonwe Valar: I figured as much.
Eonwe Valar: I assume you're in WoW and can see personally, so thanks :}
AriehnV: aye ^^#
Eonwe Valar: Do you have any membership news, Arien?
AriehnV: unfortunately i cant make it tonight for the Lothar run as i have a nine o clock start in the morning :-(
ArPharazonV: Aye, still ZA. Will give my news in a minute if we're at rest.
Eonwe Valar: NP :}
Eonwe Valar: Web:
ArPharazonV: Just wanted to say I might not be here next week.
ArPharazonV: Going to the hospital on the day after and it will need some possibly time-consuming preparation the previous day. I'll not bother with details.
Eonwe Valar: Thanks for the heads-up. I hope everything goes well.
AriehnV: aye all the best for you
top

Eonwe Valar: Web:
Eonwe Valar: No news here for now.
ArPharazonV: should be allright, an examination for something that has been bothering me for about 8 months now. But thanks anyway :-)
ArPharazonV: *hops back in* 2 bosses to go
Eonwe Valar: :}

Eonwe Valar: Gaming:
Eonwe Valar: WoW:
Eonwe Valar: New feature on the WoW Community Site: Look up your character, and you can now see what mounts and pets you have, and which ones you don't have.
ArPharazonV: Must do that. 150 pets is a hard achievement
Eonwe Valar: Not to know, except for that string of mounts and pets that only come from the card game, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: Not to know = Nice to know
Eonwe Valar: Lothar:
Eonwe Valar: Last Sunday we took on the Battle for Mount Hyjal (getting guild credit this time) and Karazhan.
Eonwe Valar: Eonwė managed to squeak into Exalted with the Kirin Tor.
AriehnV: nice one grats
Eonwe Valar: Excuse me, Violet Eye.
Eonwe Valar: Kirin Tor is Dalaran, hehe.
AriehnV: still grats :-)
Eonwe Valar: Thanks :}
Eonwe Valar: Friday:Bilbo, Bofur, Elwing, Sauron, and Varda ran the Stonecore.
Eonwe Valar: The guild is almost within a hard day's work of lvl 11.
VardaValar1 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya
Eonwe Valar: (Meaning, the daily cap almost extends beyond the level point)
VardaValar1: Pardon, was helping my husband and didn't watch the clock. :-(
ArPharazonV: Aiya
Eonwe Valar: NP. We're in Gaming, will be in LotRO shortly :}
Eonwe Valar: Also in Lothar news, the Guild Bank has been cleaned out, and we've got almost 1000 gold from the process.
Eonwe Valar: At last check (30 minutes before the meeting), we're about 1.7k from the next bank tab.
Eonwe Valar: Our run tonight will be Black Temple and Tempest Keep.
Eonwe Valar: A quick addendum to Web News, and my sincere apologies for missing it. Franco Manni-(T) of Italy sent in a link to the United States Declaration of Independence, this past week being our Independence Day and all.
VardaValar1: http://www.earlyamerica.com/earlyamerica/freedom/doi/text.html/
Eonwe Valar has left the room.
VardaValar1: oops
VardaValar1: *picks up gavel*

VardaValar1: In LotRO, both Monday and Wednesday, we ran Sixteenth Hall in Moria for different kin members and alts, completing it both times.
VardaValar1: We had a request to run Skumfil of Moria for Monday, so we may be doing that if the requester is present. :-)
VardaValar1: Any other gaming news?
ArPharazonV: Yup.
VardaValar1: Fire away, Phar. :-)
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.

ArPharazonV: Well, a few bits of WoW news for a start
ArPharazonV: I moved into the next phase of Firelands dailies, as I'm sure I'm not alone in :-) Also made honored with the new faction... but biggest news is that in the ton of heroics I've been doing, I managed to free the 4 prisoners in Zul'Aman on tuesday.. and won a brand new highly desired battle bear mount!
VardaValar1: Congrats :-)
karakedi25 has entered the room.
karakedi25: aiya, for a very short time :-(

ArPharazonV: Also, been doing some more Starcraft II, with a friend from WoW and 2 of his friends, and did my first quick matches, 4v4. Got put into bronze league :P
ArPharazonV: Other than that, a bunch of flashgames, including the daily new ones on onemorelevel.com, which I linked a few weeks back. One I quite liked was Villainous, a sort of anti-tower defense.
AriehnV: grats grats to all :-D
ArPharazonV: You have to run waves of your attackers (which you can compose and upgrade at your own choice) through a bunch of set towers, which increase in damage with each wave, and you need to get a certain minimum of units to the goal before they all die.
ArPharazonV: http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/villainous
ArPharazonV: and that's pretty much it. Been testing and playing various small flashgames.
VardaValar1: Sounds fun. :-)
ArPharazonV: I have a bit of Tolkien news too for the next section, so carry on :-)
VardaValar1: Very good!
VardaValar1: Any further gaming news from anyone before we change the order of the meeting?
VardaValar1: I'll mention that Fangorn and Elwing are in LotRO more now. :-)
top

VardaValar1: On to Tolkien!
VardaValar1: Phar, you had Tolkien-related news?
ArPharazonV: yep
ArPharazonV: Not sure if you've noticed, but some Hobbit pictures etc have been going out in articles on the internet, including pictures of the dwarves.
ArPharazonV: Also, yesterday there has been a new production video released on Peter Jackson's facebook page, a sequel to one linked here a while ago.
ArPharazonV: You can see a few scenes of shooting, bits with the actors (see who you recognize?;-) and a bit of a video report on location-scouting in New Zealand, lots of lovely places I can't wait to see again in the movies :-)
VardaValar1: Found it on PJ's Facebook:
VardaValar1: http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=10150314562706807&oid=141884481557&comments
ArPharazonV: Aye, was trying to get the link, but my net's a bit slow.
VardaValar1: Andy Serkis as second unit director? :-)
ArPharazonV: yep!
VardaValar1: coooool
ArPharazonV: Anyway, that was my news. I thought you'd be interested ;-)
VardaValar1: Thanks!
VardaValar1: *returns the gavel to the returned Eonwe*
Eonwe Valar: Thanks :}
Eonwe Valar: Deciding on Tolkien topic. If you have one, now is the time to whisper me.

AriehnV: oh i ve got another notion on the rp if youd be interested , how to continue
AriehnV: if you are interested :-)
AriehnV: (new zealand realy looks awesome on these shots )
VardaValar1: Agreed :-)
VardaValar1: Definitely interested
AriehnV: remember we mentioned a band of trolls that is drawn or at least interested in Fralis little toy sword
ArPharazonV: I thought goblins?
AriehnV: or maybe rather our dear enemy not interested in us finding out more
AriehnV: yes i mean goblins ^^
AriehnV: we can fit that in together with Farlis try to steal the sword actually , while he thinks Meren is sleeping
AriehnV: but as he approaches her
AriehnV: he stumbles into them
VardaValar1: They might have been attracted to it? expected more goblins.
VardaValar1: Frali is of course "rescuing" Meren. ;-)
Fladrifv has entered the room.
Fladrifv: Aiya
AriehnV: of course .. hehe he forgets all about the sword at that moment and in the fray maybe some more slyer goblin manages to run off with it
Eonwe Valar: Keep in mind there can't be *too* many goblins near the High Pass. The Beornings are charging exorbitant tolls for keeping that land safe for travel.
AriehnV: Auros decides to let the sword be for the moment and Frali slowlyu gets free of it
VardaValar1: Doubt any small goblin party would survive our group, really.
ArPharazonV: They could run off into a tunnel with the sword.
ArPharazonV: And Frali might run after it.
ArPharazonV: And we'd run after Frali :-)
AriehnV: that would work aye :-)
ArPharazonV: Wild chase through a goblin-sized tunnel, elves hitting their heads in the darkness...
AriehnV: catching the dwarf tho ;0
AriehnV: even if they have to pull him out of a hole by the legs
ArPharazonV: hey, there's Gollum's lake! ;-)
VardaValar1: That's pretty deep in. :-)
AriehnV: lal i dont know whether that would still be an inhabited area at the time
ArPharazonV: Not by Gollum, in any case.
AriehnV: that was my thinking whether they would get that far without opposition
VardaValar1: Goblins tended not to go to Gollum's lake area much.
AriehnV: aye since he considered them as favourable change on his menue
ArPharazonV: Well we're trying to track down a small group of goblins in maybe nearly abandoned tunnels, and Gollum hasn't been in there for a few years. They might run there.
VardaValar1: I really doubt they'd get far into the goblin tunnel before we caught them. Maybe a foraging party trying to slip between Beorning patrols and an officer caught the special sword's feel with his?
VardaValar1: Would have to be at least an officer?
ArPharazonV: brb a few minutes
Eonwe Valar: We've already made the sword a point of interest and apparent danger. I don't know if Auros would let it escape that easily.
VardaValar1: We would not let it just go. It's beginning to look important, especially if the goblins make a point of grabbing it.
Eonwe Valar: That doesn't seem too far from just leaving a morgul-knife laying around for any passer-by.
VardaValar1: Aye
VardaValar1: The runes would be morgul spells, or we wouldn't have such a strong reaction.
AriehnV: its disrupting us from the main story line and needs to get away from Frali and this would be a way
VardaValar1: Might not be extremely powerful, but it's like the discomfort of Black Speech.
VardaValar1: We were going to take it to Rivendell. It's connected to the Angmar plot.
AriehnV: it would turn up again of course, like weeds
VardaValar1: It's related to the way the baddie there is keeping control.
VardaValar1: It could help as a clue to the nature of the baddie, once Elrond considers it.
VardaValar1: Maybe help us get a definite location, if it's got some communication to it, like gps tracking. : )
AriehnV: you can maybe capture the goblin officer and bring him or try to bring to Imladris
AriehnV: and Auros could charge Frali with guarding him to keep him distracted
AriehnV: from the sword
Eonwe Valar: Auros wouldn't be bringing a live orc to Imladris,.. or a dead one, for that matter.
VardaValar1: Just the sword.
AriehnV: then kill Frali off
VardaValar1: Why?
VardaValar1: He can become stronger from fighting the pull of the sword. Become sensitized in a way and help us find the things of the baddie in Angmar that we're looking for, like the staff.
AriehnV: he is disturbing the whole thing
VardaValar1: He is helping us with the next part of the plot.
AriehnV: nah get that sword away from him somehow or kill him off pls
VardaValar1: Don't want the whole thing hanging on Calion/Calaron.
AriehnV: and everything i say is shambles so i am not worth anything
VardaValar1: Sure, we get the sword away from hiim, but dwarves are famous for being hard to control. His personal strength will pull him out of it.
VardaValar1: You probably just need some sleep. :-)
VardaValar1: He feels the pull of it but fights it off and is even stronger. He may be asked to carry it after that, since the elves have discomfort from it. Not kind to Meren to make her carry it.
VardaValar1: It's like the hobbit carried the Ring because he had the most resistance.
Eonwe Valar: It is neither Frali nor the sword that is keeping the story from moving forward, just to ensure that is clear.
VardaValar1: Right.
VardaValar1: That actually moves it forward. : )
ArPharazonV: Back.
VardaValar1: Aiyata :-)
AriehnV: oh well never mind but any suggestions i make are turned away :-(
VardaValar1: We are trying to use them.
VardaValar1: We are not, however, killing off Frali. : )
VardaValar1: We are working this new complication into the plot - just having to figure out how to handle the goblin thing.
VardaValar1: It gives us another object to work off of, something tangible.
ArPharazonV: You should do like me. Start with very small, barely reasonable alterations, and then develop those into a full-fledged storyline that has no business being in the RP ;-)
VardaValar1: Figuring out what should be in the RP is our business, with members tossing in ideas and the rest working with them. It's not a straightforward one-man art form. Kind of crazy, and very creative.
VardaValar1: The only thing we can't do is jump completely outside Tolkien with us being Supermen. :-)
ArPharazonV: But the sword-thing is a good arc. It gives us something to do on our way to Rivendell, and we can play with it however we like. But there's some things you just can't get past Auros, like bringing a live Orc to Rivendell :-)
VardaValar1: Aye, a live orc can't get past Elrond's Ring.
ArPharazonV: I had trouble enough bringing a wolf to Thranduil's Halls without him protesting every minute :-)
VardaValar1: The sword should have all the clues we need, np.
ArPharazonV: Now if an Orc survived our encounter and tracked us and the sword to Rivendell...
ArPharazonV: but we'd probably spot him in 5 minutes
Eonwe Valar: Galadriel's knowledge of what goes on in her land extends pretty far out. It seems pretty evident Elrond's does too, given he can affect the Ford of Bruinen presumably from his house.
Eonwe Valar: So even given that an orc *could* follow us that far, he'd have arrows in him before he got too far beyond the eaves of Rivendell.

VardaValar1: (side comment: dwarves in the Hobbit movie pictures: http://movies.yahoo.com/photos/movie-stills/gallery/3491/#photo0
VardaValar1: second video from PJ *not* on Facebook: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=79633
ArPharazonV: Yeah, the first one was one of the articles linked on the facebook page, I think.
VardaValar1: The FB has this stuff but not everyone uses Facebook, so it's nice that we can find these other sources.
AriehnV: nice barbaric dwarves
AriehnV has left the room.
ArPharazonV: I don't use Facebook. But it's still available to me. You don't need to be logged in to see this stuff.
VardaValar1: o good : )
ArPharazonV: But I'm sure there might be people who avoid *anything* Facebook-like, so for their sake, your link works :-)
VardaValar1: Aye on that.
AriehnV has entered the room.
AriehnV: what did i miss?
VardaValar1: Welcome back :-)
VardaValar1: Just talk about how some people prefer to avoid Facebook. :-)
ArPharazonV: Only thing you missed was me saying how you don't need to be logged in to Facebook to see these things.
AriehnV: yeay :-)
AriehnV: Facebook is so dangerous .. so easy to get lost in, not to mention bugs you can catch on your computer with a thousand links and poppups
VardaValar1: There are two dwarf photos, they look different since they are from different places. Here's the link again:
VardaValar1: http://movies.yahoo.com/photos/movie-stills/gallery/3491/#photo0
AriehnV: aye i ve looked them up quite nice
VardaValar1: I don't see the specially color-coded cloaks from the Hobbit there.
VardaValar1: Cool looking though.
VardaValar1: These are all very darkly dressed.
AriehnV: oh yeah i remember green hoods were dwalin and Bofur?, i remember gold for thorin
AriehnV: blue kili and fili?
VardaValar1: Rather colorful lot.
VardaValar1: pardon, afk a minute.
VardaValar1: back
Eonwe Valar: WB :}
VardaValar1: Le hannon. : )
ArPharazonV: Blue Dwalin and Balin, I thought?
AriehnV: ah right
ArPharazonV: And Thorin had a gold belt.
AriehnV: Yellow Bifur and Bombur
Eonwe Valar: Upon reflection, if you're going in stealth, is it really a good idea to color-code your clothing? :}
VardaValar1: Agreed
VardaValar1: The hoods are definitely colorful too.
AriehnV: Bifur and Bofur yellow , pardon me and Bombur a pale green one
Eonwe Valar: Seems to me any orc who *doesn't* think it's a good idea to target the lone guy wearing gold first if missing an unbelievable opportunity :}
Eonwe Valar: *is missing
AriehnV: sky blue with a silver tassle was Thorin
VardaValar1: Dwalin had a gold belt, dark-green hood. A blue beard? Guess that's blue-black.
AriehnV: (looking up in the book )
VardaValar1: Same. My memory's not that good. : )
AriehnV: Dori and Nori purple#
VardaValar1: ahh, detachable party hoods.
AriehnV: grey Oin and brown Gloin
AriehnV: Kili and Fili were blue tho :-)
VardaValar1: If they're detachable party hoods, that implies they could attach other types of hoods.
AriehnV: dark dreen dwal[n
AriehnV: dwalin
AriehnV: red balin
ArPharazonV: They could switch with each other to throw off attackers? ;-)
Eonwe Valar: Assuming they had time before they got attacked :}
VardaValar1: Silver belts for Fili and Kili
VardaValar1: It does say detachable party hoods, so one assumes they changed hoods for traveling.
VardaValar1: Maybe the belts were for when they're in a party mood too? I wonder if they meant painted leather or the actual metal?
VardaValar1: Aiya Fladrif!
AriehnV: actually i was thinking that , the clothing in the pictures we saw looked more like travel clothes
AriehnV: they certainly didnt want to be seen and those would blend quite nicely into the landscape
VardaValar1: Makes sense.
ArPharazonV: So the clothes we know, might just be used for party purposes? Or when stealth doesn't matter?
AriehnV: when they arrived at Bilbos i d think so yes
AriehnV: they were strangers to Bilbo and wanted a big task from him , so i think they just might have had the notion to present themselves at their best
AriehnV: *more or less * , was a slight mishap with Bifor bofur Bombur and Thorin
VardaValar1: It just mentions the detachable hoods for parties. The fancy belts might have been for the same reason.
AriehnV: they also coloured their beards there
AriehnV: later that doesnt get mentioned anymore
VardaValar1: The blue beard might have meant blue-black.
VardaValar1: yellow might mean blond.
ArPharazonV: green might mean mossy ;-)
VardaValar1: heh, who had the green beard?
VardaValar1: or any color meant their previous meal(s).
AriehnV: grin
ArPharazonV: Don't remember any green beards, but it could have been!
VardaValar1: The Hobbit actually mentions blue, yellow, white
ArPharazonV: White. That's reasonable.

After-meeting:
Eonwe Valar: Since the chat has mostly died down, and it's time for the Sunday Run on Lothar, I'll be banging the gavel.
Eonwe Valar: *bangs gavel*
Eonwe Valar: Aftermeeting. Feel free to continue talking about Thorin and Company :}
AriehnV: a nice bed after a long walk .. yes , i wonder why they didnt think of that ^^
AriehnV: i certainly do after a long enough day :-)
AriehnV: I certainly do after a long enough day
AriehnV: Namarie all
ArPharazonV: namarie
VardaValar1: Namarie!
AriehnV: have fun with whatever you dou ... maybe you can do me the faveour and kill that dwarf off all the same or give him a good beating to bring him to senses .. hah!
AriehnV: ;-)
VardaValar1: He has the mental strength to fight the sword's influence on his own at last.
Eonwe Valar: Or Frali can just hate auros for standing in the way of him getting the sword back, hehe.
VardaValar1: Give him more confidence in himself.
VardaValar1: heh, there's that. or have that temporary til he works it out. Maybe Elrond will hand it to him.
VardaValar1: Tell him he must be the one to carry it to home in on the baddy.
VardaValar1: The elves can't use it, so it must be Frali.
AriehnV: and in the meantime all he does is dream about making gold selling that sword that he suddenly thinks so precious .. how to make the best profit
AriehnV: and bad auros prevents him from that ^^
AriehnV: all right then something will have to happen tho .. very soon
AriehnV: Namarie
AriehnV has left the room.

VardaValar1: If Phar or Flad or Indis are still here,
VardaValar1: when you look in your index of the Sil for Battles of Beleriand, does it point to the kinslaying at Alqualonde or at the fight of the Sindar vs the orcs?
ArPharazonV: I'll check.
VardaValar1: Thanks.
VardaValar1: Also let us know the publisher such as Ballantine or Houghton-Mifflin.
ArPharazonV: Harper Collins.
ArPharazonV: The first battle, you mean?
VardaValar1: Correct.
ArPharazonV: Sinds vs orcs.
ArPharazonV: *Sinar
ArPharazonV: ..
ArPharazonV: Sindar
ArPharazonV: why?
ArPharazonV: It's the second edition, if that helps.
VardaValar1: Thanks
VardaValar1: Because we found that in the two I mentioned in 1977 they point to different battles.
VardaValar1: It caused a problem in writing the article for Battles of Beleriand.
VardaValar1: Thanks! That's two publishers in agreement. That also sounds correct when reading the text, in my opinion.
ArPharazonV: Aye.
VardaValar1: Thanks for your help!
VardaValar1: Namarie for now. :-)
ArPharazonV: namarie
karakedi25: namarie all
karakedi25 has left the room.
VardaValar1 has left the room.
ArPharazonV: saving and sending
