VardaValar1: *waves*
VardaValar1: Fladrif is in a business phone conference right now.
Eonwe Valar: Faramir was left us to join a group of his friends in a raiding guild in LotRO.
Eonwe Valar: *has left us
VardaValar1: His letter is on the News page.
Eonwe Valar: Pharazon is out doing field work.

karakedi25: Aiya!
Eonwe Valar: Heya Indis :}
top

Eonwe Valar: Gaming:
VardaValar1: Aiya Indis :-)
Eonwe Valar: WoW:
Eonwe Valar: Blizzard's released early models of female Worgen, the alliance race coming in Cataclysm. I'll leave you to decide how exciting that is :}
Eonwe Valar: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/underdev/4p0/female-worgen-sneak.html
Eonwe Valar: For those who are interested.
VardaValar1: Werewolves as good guys. That should be interesting in the storyline.
Eonwe Valar: The story is that Arugal, the guy summoning in the Worgen, was a Gilnena, patriot, calling them in to help defend Gilneas. It got out of hand for him as it did for the Night Elf doing the same, so he pulled his Worgen into Shadowfang Keep.
Eonwe Valar: However, the curse had already begun spreading through the populace of Gilneas.
AriehnV: they look cute
Eonwe Valar: Short version of what the story was last I read it.
AriehnV: i like it
Eonwe Valar: *when last I read it.
VardaValar1: Thanks. :-)
Eonwe Valar: Lothar: I'm afraid other considerations, like real life and working on the Games Page, kept me from doing too much in WoW this week.
VardaValar1: We had family on, plus Elwing and Bofur and Nob on Lothar this past week.
Eonwe Valar: Thanks.
Eonwe Valar: LotRO:
Eonwe Valar: Three new Lorebook entries: The Haunted Inn:http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Landmark:The_Haunted_Inn
Eonwe Valar: Nenedhel:http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/NPC:Nenedhel
Eonwe Valar: Nifdir:http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/NPC:N%C3%ADfdir
Eonwe Valar: Landroval:
Eonwe Valar: Varda's floor :}
VardaValar1: We've implemented the Mon/Wednesday instance nights.
VardaValar1: People are showing up for them and we even had more people than we could take in.
VardaValar1: If we get a few more, we might run more than one instance at a time. :-)
VardaValar1: Monday, as planned, we ran the Moria instance of Fil Gashan.
VardaValar1: We didn't quite get the last boss that time.
VardaValar1: We had a re-match Wednesday and took him down.
VardaValar1: The News page has an error. Indis was present with her LM Alasse, not her captain Mirminuial. Sorry.
karakedi25: np
VardaValar1: Fuller reports are on the News page for those interested.
VardaValar1: Indis, your floor.
karakedi25: We're seeing a lot of Ulmo, which is new for me. He led the Fil Gashan instance.
karakedi25: He knows his way around instances and raiding, so his participation was very helpful, but he's also around working on a lower-level alt most of the time now, too.
VardaValar1: Aye, he's enjoying his Warden. His other characters are fully developed and have little left to do right now.
karakedi25: Some of us have also been participating in instances and raids with pugs and other groups-good practice.
karakedi25: That's it--Eonwe, your floor.
fladrifv has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Thanks Varda and Indis.
VardaValar1: Flad! Welcome back. :-)
fladrifv: Aiya
karakedi25: Aiya
Eonwe Valar: Has anyone played anything besides WoW and LotRO this week?
fladrifv: from musqito infested sweden
VardaValar1: hehe
fladrifv: *raises a branch*
Eonwe Valar: Fladrif's Floor.
AriehnV: *sees leaves falling onto the stage and nearly creaking as the ent steps on it"
fladrifv: I played and won a few chess matches of the ver ongoing chess tournament
AriehnV: nice nice
fladrifv: only 4 to go for this round
Eonwe Valar: Congrats :}
fladrifv: *shuffels off stage*
VardaValar1: Fladrif, Chess Champ.
fladrifv: hehe, not yet
VardaValar1: hehe
fladrifv: but working on it
fladrifv: kassparov here I come...
Eonwe Valar: Anyone else? Or any other gaming news before we move to Tolkien?
fladrifv: playing: kill the musqitos atm
VardaValar1: Uldaman WoW did get a little love. :-)
Eonwe Valar: :}
AriehnV: additional mini note on Lotro : stuck in a couple of sunbeams on Wednesday, .. got my annoying spear for the Druadan artefacts but need to run back and kill the mobs in there now ppfft
VardaValar1: Sounds like questing. :-)
AriehnV: and i always spend hours looking for that entrance lol
AriehnV: indeed
AriehnV: i saw Eonwe there crafting on his Kalmo
AriehnV: thats it :-) ( i ws in another but forgot which)
AriehnV: (insert day]
VardaValar1: Glad to have you here shining on the group. :-)
top

Eonwe Valar: Tolkien:
Eonwe Valar: Anyone have a topic, or a Tolkien Moment?
VardaValar1: Shlep, or near that.
VardaValar1: sorry, mt. A character name in WoW Lothar of a guild-friend. :-)
AriehnV: :-) HMM i ve got a tolkien related idea maybe a bit crazy but i had a vision last sunday ... Festival in the Shire
Eonwe Valar: Go ahead.
AriehnV: may i explain further what that was?
AriehnV: thank you Eonwe :-)
AriehnV: well you know that this festival consists of a fan based do with stands , book presentations and so on , Art Exposition and the specialist conference
AriehnV: I am trying to get 2 weeks holiday at the mid-beginning of august .. so that i might maybe travel therre
AriehnV: well but i have a feeling that as an international Tolkien fanclub with members all over the place and a vast web resource we should have presence there
AriehnV: maybe not only as visitor .. exhibitor of some sort
AriehnV: maybe some written leaflets or a computer presentation which would show some of our members work , be it stories or statues or articles
VardaValar1: Is that related to the Festival in the Shire journal, and do you have the URL for this event?
AriehnV: indeed
AriehnV: The Festival in the Shire will take place from 13th to 15th august
AriehnV: hold a sec
AriehnV: i ll find the link
VardaValar1: Thanks
AriehnV: http://www.festivalintheshire.com/
AriehnV: i 'd be willing to help organising things and get stuff together, maybe with a little help from my dear Bruce lol , but anyway i d bite in the sour apple of being one of the presentees of course
AriehnV: would be nice if some of the otherf european valarites could come too
VardaValar1: If it would be a sour apple, maybe you should just visit rather than present.
AriehnV: hehe no i dont mean it as it sounds
AriehnV: i mean i d be will ing to do that and see it as fun new experience and it would be my right and duty as maia
Eonwe Valar: I think a visit to see what it's like first would be a good idea.
VardaValar1: It would be nice if you could get some others up there to help, if you do it.
AriehnV: it sounds interesting
AriehnV: but yeah your right eonwe, but as far as i gather they want to make it a regular event that should take place annuallyu
AriehnV: but this will be the first time
VardaValar1: Maybe some big screenies of LotRO on posterboards as booth decoration?
AriehnV: aye :-) something like that and maybe prints with some of the website content , a few stories as samples of the talent of our members and example of what they can find on the website
AriehnV: to raise more interest in the valar guild in europe , or make people aware of its existence
AriehnV: or maybe they have contact to members without being aware of it
Eonwe Valar: Would have to check with individual authors to see if they'd be willing for their works to be so used.
VardaValar1: They have a conference. Would be nice if we could present a paper during that, but I don't see it happening.
VardaValar1: The main part of our work is supposed to be the articles. Stories and the rest are extras.
AriehnV: then maybe a couple of articles
AriehnV: or something like the timeline
AriehnV: but you see what i mean
AriehnV: showing the resource
AriehnV: anyway its just a mad idea :-)
VardaValar1: It's a good idea.
AriehnV: Maybe also shake some wow players into revealing themselves as Tolkien enthusiasts and show them that both goes together
AriehnV: *blush8
AriehnV: so we could open a new true valar guild branch with its own life and activity
AriehnV: (thats my secret hope and dream)
Eonwe Valar: hmm?
VardaValar1: Secret? heh
AriehnV: well no scret to you :-)
VardaValar1: Don't expect WoW players to come flocking in to see you due to that show.
VardaValar1: That has to be done inside WoW.
AriehnV: nah i dont mean that
AriehnV: just in explaining what we do and what games we play might just get some peeople answering
AriehnV: "oh i play that as well &=
AriehnV: and there u get a base without pressing anyone or anythng
VardaValar1: Gaming is not what most of the people at the Festival will be interested in, I fear.
VardaValar1: The Site would be more to their leaning.
AriehnV: i dont mean it as recruiting for gaming
AriehnV: i am noit very clear am i?
AriehnV: its just a side hope
AriehnV: but main focus would be the website
VardaValar1: I fear we don't have anyone able to go who would be up on the website, really.
AriehnV: and if noone does mention wow at all and still show interest in maybe becoming members i d be more than happe
AriehnV: happy
VardaValar1: The guild has very little to nearly non-existent presence in WoW.
AriehnV: then forget my last comments
AriehnV: i shouldnt have mentioned it
VardaValar1: Bruce, that you mentioned, is your husband, right?
VardaValar1: The one who would be helping if you had help?
VardaValar1: I do like the idea of Valar participating in such an event, but don't think that we're really ready at this time. It's something to be considering though.
Eonwe Valar: I would concur. I think a visit to see what it's like would be one thing. Presenting something at it is another.
VardaValar1: You shouldn't be stuck doing it alone.
Eonwe Valar: Aye. Were we to do it, it would be better to have more than one officer there.
AriehnV: aye sure
Eonwe Valar: Looks like most of the people speaking are going to be academics or published authors.
AriehnV: aye the horse shoe however if u want to go to all three things its very expensive
AriehnV: its a shame that you cant buy fan event , arts expostition and the conference together
karakedi25: especially if you travel from North America. Pity, because it looks enormously interesting
AriehnV: or only for a very high price
VardaValar1: If they get a really good showing of people, maybe they can bring down the price next time.
VardaValar1: By August, I hope flights will no longer have a problem also.
VardaValar1: The volcanic ash prevented some of my friends from going from the US to Ireland for a wedding, and they were concerned about another going off. By August, maybe all will be clear.
VardaValar1: Seems like they'd want people to go to all three parts. It is a three day event.
AriehnV: aye
VardaValar1 has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: A visit as an observer/reporter to be put on the guild news wouldn't be a bad idea.
VardaValar1 has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: WB :}
VardaValar1: eep hit the wrong button
Eonwe Valar: I just said: Eonwe Valar: A visit as an observer/reporter to be put on the guild news wouldn't be a bad idea.
Eonwe Valar: I've been hoping members going to Blizzcon would do that for us too.
AriehnV: i ll try to get there if i get my holidays :-) they are always slow
AriehnV: in my workplace
AriehnV: even if i get the holdiays i ll need to get tickets accomodation blah blah :-)
Eonwe Valar: Good luck :}
AriehnV: i ll come back with a detailed report anyway
AriehnV: or as detailed as i can
Eonwe Valar: Thanks :}
VardaValar1: That would be great!
Eonwe Valar: I think we should call it here.
Eonwe Valar: It's a little over an hour and a half since meeting start, and I think this has been worthy of the discussion given it.
Eonwe Valar: Was certainly Tolkien-related :}
VardaValar1: Intriguing. And that url is very worth looking at.
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
Eonwe Valar: Ok, banging the gavel.
Eonwe Valar: *bang*
top

Eonwe Valar: Gavel banged. Aftermeeting.
VardaValar1: *jumps*\
karakedi25: Is the stained glass image Tolkien?
Eonwe Valar: Hmm, didn't take a close look at it. Now I wonder.
VardaValar1: Part of the idea is to hold the conference in a place that could be like part of the inspiration for the writings.
Eonwe Valar: Darn. Where's the stained glass again?
Eonwe Valar: Found it, nevermind.
Eonwe Valar: I'm pretty sure that's not Tolkien :}
Eonwe Valar: I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure.
VardaValar1: Says there's a discount for coming in costume. :-)
VardaValar1: Aye, the stained glass window is more of a landmark to help find the conference.
arwenv1 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Arwen :-)
Eonwe Valar: Heya Arwen.
Eonwe Valar: Just in time for Aftermeeting :}
AriehnV: hey arwwen :-)
arwenv1: hellos :)
VardaValar1: :-)
AriehnV: Namarie dear Valarites
VardaValar1: Namarie, Arien :-)
AriehnV: :-)
AriehnV has left the room.
fladrifv has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Well, apparently even saving the meeting as a text file will just save the html code into a text file.
VardaValar1: Saving cleanly is tough. I suspect Phar is using an older version to do it.
Eonwe Valar: I could do it by copy/pasting into Notepad, just annoyed I have to go through that length for a code-free version.
