top

(4:07:11 PM) VardaValar1: Web:
(4:07:26 PM) VardaValar1: Eonwe, did you have anything to report?
(4:07:45 PM) Eonwe Valar: Nothing of import to note under Web, no.
(4:08:09 PM) VardaValar1: The Links page has a new link, concerning the building of a hobbit house in real life. : )
(4:08:24 PM) VardaValar1: http://www.simondale.net/house/index.htm
(4:09:07 PM) VardaValar1: The Tolkien Site art section has been undergoing repairs and linking more into the Encyclopedia.

(4:09:16 PM) fladrifv left the room.
(4:09:19 PM) fladrifv: Aiya
(4:09:27 PM) VardaValar1: Aiya Flad : )

(4:09:33 PM) fladrifv: live from a hotel
(4:09:35 PM) fladrifv: they might kick me soon
(4:09:38 PM) fladrifv: dont know yet

(4:09:40 PM) VardaValar1: We have new art from the Bohemian Weasel-T, very talented lady.

(4:09:46 PM) fladrifv left the room.
(4:09:50 PM) VardaValar1: ouch Flad
(4:09:57 PM) ArPharazonV: Well the room doesn't list you as being in, in fact, it just said you... left...
(4:10:31 PM) ArPharazonV: and there he goes again

(4:10:33 PM) VardaValar1: Aragorn, Arwen, Aragorn and Arwen at the coronation, Boromir, Celeborn (new Celeborn section made), Eowyn, Frodo, Galadriel, Haldir,
(4:10:53 PM) VardaValar1: Haldir and Legolas (movie), Frodo, Lorien flets, Lorien boat, A Weasel's LotR Guide to receiving unwanted Christmas presents politely.
(4:11:03 PM) VardaValar1: The last one has also been added to the Humor site.
(4:11:12 PM) VardaValar1: The Humor frames links were repaired.
(4:11:18 PM) karakedi25: yes, I saw the artwork, and it's exceptionally nice
(4:11:38 PM) VardaValar1: Please email me if you find something as drastically wrecked as the Humor frame links were.
(4:12:17 PM) VardaValar1: Glad you liked it. Most of hers is being added to our Tolkien Encyclopedia.
(4:12:47 PM) AriehnV entered the room.
(4:12:48 PM) VardaValar1: The ROLOZO Tolkien Site which gives most of our pictures is still unable to show the large pictures that we use.
(4:12:53 PM) VardaValar1: Aiya Arien
(4:13:14 PM) VardaValar1: The problem lies in the incompatibility with the coding for the large pictures on the upgraded server.
(4:13:51 PM) VardaValar1: The webmaster for OneRing.net said Ryan, who does the ROLOZO site, has to do the coding changes, but he hasn't been active in a long time on the site.
(4:13:59 PM) VardaValar1: I emailed him too, no reply.
(4:14:18 PM) VardaValar1: The coding would be horrific to do, so there's some question whether that site will ever be repaired.
(4:14:34 PM) VardaValar1: Meanwhile, we are depending more on our own art site and can use your aid.
(4:15:18 PM) VardaValar1: In the Tolkien Poetry section, we have a new poem by Peregrin-(V)
(4:16:28 PM) VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/poetry/FalloftheSimilarill.htm
(4:17:23 PM) VardaValar1: It appears that the update showing it for today on the News didn't get uploaded, my apologies.

(4:17:36 PM) VardaValar1: On to Gaming:
StarCraft/BroodWar, Second Life, StarCraft II beta, Guild Wars, WoW, LotRO, WoW continued

(4:18:17 PM) VardaValar1: In Miscellaneous gaming, my family played StarCraft/BroodWar, helping me collect maps for the new computer. Much fun was had. : )
(4:18:42 PM) VardaValar1: In Second Life, both Eowyn and myself showed up and tried out the sandbox for building.
(4:18:57 PM) VardaValar1: Fladrif was surely there, but we missed him.
(4:19:11 PM) VardaValar1: Any other miscellaneous games? : )
(4:19:16 PM) ArPharazonV: hmm, yes
(4:19:28 PM) VardaValar1: Go ahead, Phar. : )
(4:19:39 PM) ArPharazonV:
In a bit of more general news, it seems the Starcraft II beta has started now, or at least the site for it is up
(4:19:48 PM) ArPharazonV: http://eu.battle.net/sc2beta/en-us/ is the American version
(4:20:38 PM) ArPharazonV: I'm not very interested in the beta myself (I always like to wait for the finished product) but some of you might be, or even be looking for a spot in the beta, if they're still taking people.
(4:20:48 PM) ArPharazonV: this is for Starcraft II as well as the new and improved battle.net
(4:21:13 PM) ArPharazonV: so there might be some interesting info released on this site, its forums, etc ;)
(4:21:43 PM) ArPharazonV: Also! There seems to be a youtube blizzard channel opened this week, at http://www.youtube.com/BlizzardEN
(4:22:24 PM) ArPharazonV: starting with high-def versions of some cinematics and trailers, with the promise of more to come
(4:22:38 PM) ArPharazonV: So I'll be looking forward to what we'll get to see here :)
(4:22:53 PM) Eonwe Valar: Blizzard's had a youtube channel for a while, it's just updates.
(4:23:10 PM) Eonwe Valar: At least since the Mr.T Mohawk grenade stuff.
(4:23:28 PM) ArPharazonV: this might also have been done last week, I'm not sure, but I only noticed this week
(4:23:47 PM) ArPharazonV: well all these vids here now appear to be one or two weeks old
(4:23:49 PM) ArPharazonV: so maybe it's a new one?
(4:24:04 PM) ArPharazonV: Also!
(4:24:28 PM) ArPharazonV: I took a brief moment to enter Guildwars, and added Arien's prophecies character to my friendslist, alts should be automatically visible.
(4:24:45 PM) VardaValar1: :-)
(4:24:50 PM) ArPharazonV: You weren't online at the time, but maybe if I play more often we'll be able to meet :)
(4:25:22 PM) ArPharazonV: and that's pretty much the "additional gaming" news for me
(4:25:40 PM) VardaValar1: Thanks Phar. :-)
(4:25:52 PM) VardaValar1: Eonwe had some WoW news for us. Go ahead, Eonwe.
(4:25:53 PM) Eonwe Valar: Quick note, here a link to the US version of the site Phar linked, on the US servers :} http://us.battle.net/sc2beta/en-us/
(4:26:06 PM) ArPharazonV: I did link the us version ;)
(4:26:12 PM) Eonwe Valar: The Starcraft 2 beta site, that is :}
(4:26:27 PM) Eonwe Valar: yours started with eu.battle.net :}
(4:26:28 PM) ArPharazonV: http://eu.battle.net/sc2beta/en-gb/ is the European version
(4:26:50 PM) ArPharazonV: Oh.
(4:26:50 PM) ArPharazonV: Then I linked the US version of the European version.
(4:26:58 PM) ArPharazonV: Oh well, it's all so confusing...
(4:27:11 PM) ArPharazonV: you'll see my link ended with en-us
(4:27:38 PM) Eonwe Valar: Aye, but thought I'd give the US link there to save routing through EU servers :}
(4:27:48 PM) ArPharazonV: Fair enough :)

(4:27:58 PM) Eonwe Valar: Ok, on to WoW :}
(4:28:35 PM) Eonwe Valar: First, for those intreested, there's changes to the PVP honor system coming with the next minor patch.
(4:29:22 PM) Eonwe Valar: The battleground Marks of Honor are going the way of the dodo. Everything that used them as currency will be converted to cost an appropriate amount of honor instead.
(4:29:49 PM) Menelvagor Valar: honor gain will be increased instead then?
(4:30:05 PM) ArPharazonV: I assume you'd get extra honor instead of marks at the end of a match
(4:30:11 PM) Eonwe Valar: Well, they're making adjustments to the system.
(4:30:28 PM) Menelvagor Valar: goodie... not that I really care, since I hardly ever pvp ^^
(4:30:39 PM) Eonwe Valar: They're adding a Random battleground Finder and removing the daily quest, a la heroics.
(4:31:01 PM) ArPharazonV: only time I used the marks was when I went for all the pvp mounts for my 100 mounts
(4:31:36 PM) Eonwe Valar: They're also making adjustments to Wintergrasp so that it isn't so one-sided on servers with large population imbalances.
(4:31:53 PM) Menelvagor Valar: LOL\
(4:32:08 PM) Menelvagor Valar: that means that on AD the horde will ALWAYS have Wintergraps from the patch on.
(4:32:10 PM) ArPharazonV: what, was the tenacity thing not enough? ;)
(4:32:19 PM) ArPharazonV: and yeah... I'm fearing that too
(4:32:21 PM) Eonwe Valar: They're changing tenacity.
(4:32:26 PM) Menelvagor Valar: since 75% of the server is alliance, and the other 25% is pvp :P
(4:33:13 PM) ArPharazonV: I wouldn't say that. Some of the top raiding guilds are horde. Including the one that brought down Arthas this week, I think.
(4:33:18 PM) Eonwe Valar: In addition, we'll be seeing a new small raid before the Lich King: the Ruby Sanctum.
(4:33:59 PM) Menelvagor Valar: let me guess: in dragonblight?
(4:33:59 PM) Eonwe Valar: For more details, you can get links and info here: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/underdev/
(4:34:07 PM) ArPharazonV: in Wyrmrest Temple even, Menel :)
(4:34:14 PM) Menelvagor Valar: of course ^^
(4:34:17 PM) Eonwe Valar: Of course, it's in Wyrmrest Temple like the Obsidian Sanctum.
(4:34:23 PM) Menelvagor Valar: logical too.
(4:34:37 PM) Menelvagor Valar: considering wyrmrest has like 7 portals and only 1 in use at the moment :-D
(4:35:23 PM) ArPharazonV: I heard the recapture of Gnomeregan will be around that patch as well. Which is why I was in a hurry to get my gnome through the instance this week, I couldn't let his story end without facing down Thermaplugg. But I got that done yesterday ;)
(4:35:42 PM) ArPharazonV: and yeah, there's room for a few more sanctums in Wyrmrest I suppose ;)
(4:36:05 PM) Eonwe Valar: We haven't heard anything official on Gnomeregan yet.
(4:36:40 PM) Eonwe Valar: And there's a sanctum for each of the 5 dragonflights :}
(4:36:43 PM) ArPharazonV: well, it's on mmo-champion, which is seldom wrong... but I thought I'd mention it anyway just to be on the safe side, in case someone else has plans for it before the recapture
(4:36:51 PM) ArPharazonV: better too early than too late
(4:37:56 PM) Menelvagor Valar: yes, thanks.
(4:38:00 PM) Eonwe Valar: In Lothar news, I've scheduled a venture into Molten Core tonight at 7pm VST, 6pm Central, if we have interest.
(4:38:11 PM) Menelvagor Valar: I still have to grab some gnoganical goo from the slimes down in gnome.
(4:39:19 PM) VardaValar1: Eonwe, we may have interest, but we have a lack of people home.
(4:39:21 PM) Eonwe Valar: That's all I had. Your floor again, Varda.
(4:39:28 PM) VardaValar1: Thank you, Eonwe. : )

(4:39:42 PM) VardaValar1: Indis, would you like to give an overview of our LotRO week?
(4:40:30 PM) karakedi25: We've had some drop in 'attendance' this last week, possibly because people could finally escape from the snow.
(4:40:52 PM) karakedi25: But there are still a number of persistent regulars: from memory (which may be faulty):
(4:41:23 PM) karakedi25: Gorlim, Eomer, Arien from time to time, Pippin, Varda, ....
(4:41:37 PM) karakedi25: Eonwe sneaks on at night sometimes ;)
(4:41:59 PM) karakedi25: We've had Maedhros sightings
(4:42:27 PM) karakedi25: And Menel has come on in the last couple of days as well.
(4:42:33 PM) karakedi25: Whom am I forgetting?
(4:42:44 PM) ArPharazonV: yourself!
(4:42:59 PM) karakedi25: I guess I assumed that!
(4:43:38 PM) karakedi25: Many people seem to have maxxed their mains and some have done so on alts...
(4:44:06 PM) karakedi25: so many of us are working on getting other alts up and on developing all our characters to give them more depth.
(4:44:17 PM) karakedi25: In my own case, if I may talk about it,
(4:44:39 PM) karakedi25: My lowest active character has topped out in crafting (she's an armorsmith)...
(4:44:48 PM) VardaValar1: Grats!
(4:45:17 PM) karakedi25: My healer completed one of the major 'chapters' of the epic book and got a splendid cloak out of it (the Singed Cloak, for those who know it)...
(4:45:58 PM) VardaValar1: That's a nice one. Seriously black. : )
(4:46:14 PM) karakedi25: and one of my lore-masters (caster) completed her quest to get one of her top skills (the so-called 'class quest') available starting at level 58.
(4:46:48 PM) karakedi25: It's a lovely one. She dyed it red, though, to go with her outfit, and it looks very good.
(4:46:59 PM) karakedi25: What can others add?
(4:47:49 PM) VardaValar1: My cook topped out Kindred cooking.
(4:47:51 PM) AriehnV: not much this week i fear :-(
(4:48:11 PM) karakedi25: oh nice!
(4:48:15 PM) karakedi25: *drools*
(4:48:28 PM) VardaValar1: My main, hunter Fainan, got the Mirkwood horse finally, matching the rest of you. ;-)
(4:48:48 PM) karakedi25: yes, and you look handsome on it!
(4:49:03 PM) VardaValar1: Fainan needs to hit Sword Halls about three more times, and to work on finding and leveling a proper level 65 bow and sword.
(4:49:17 PM) karakedi25: FYI, the black horse is available at endgame.
(4:49:22 PM) VardaValar1: Most of the LI drops seem to be for other classes.
(4:49:25 PM) karakedi25: (current endgame, that is)
(4:49:39 PM) Menelvagor Valar: sounds like a WoW thing :-D
(4:49:49 PM) VardaValar1: Aye, a lovely black horse with smokey gray accouterments.
(4:49:49 PM) VardaValar1: tack.
(4:50:20 PM) AriehnV: i think i ve seen that one
(4:50:24 PM) AriehnV: it looks awesome
(4:50:28 PM) Menelvagor Valar: accoutrements, if I remember correctly, that's another french word for accesories :-) [note: Merriam-Webster's Dictionary says both spellings are correct for English: accouterment and accoutrement, more correctly used as the part of a soldier's outfit that is not clothing or weapons.]
(4:50:45 PM) VardaValar1: WoW and LotRO have similarities just because they are both MMO's, true. :-)
(4:50:47 PM) karakedi25: oui
(4:50:53 PM) VardaValar1: LI means Legendary Items.
(4:50:58 PM) VardaValar1: *Item
(4:52:06 PM) VardaValar1: Those are items that can be leveled up by giving them experience and filling in slots with goodies.
(4:52:28 PM) VardaValar1: That seems to be the end of the LotRO report.
(4:52:34 PM) karakedi25: and in fact are the source of substantial grinding, because everyone wants the maxxed and perfect one
(4:52:38 PM) VardaValar1: Menel has something to add to the WoW report.
(4:52:41 PM) ArPharazonV: tell me they don't talk too.. ;)
(4:52:42 PM) VardaValar1: Natch. ;-)
(4:52:57 PM) VardaValar1: We don't have Turin's sword yet, luckily. : )
(4:53:10 PM) karakedi25: they'd better not
(4:53:18 PM) VardaValar1: No they don't talk back. Yet.
(4:53:34 PM) VardaValar1: Menel, go ahead when you're ready.
(4:53:54 PM) karakedi25: I don't think we'd enjoy conversations with Gurthang. It's like its maker.

WoW continued:
(4:54:01 PM) Menelvagor Valar: I have heard from a fairly reliable source (haven't read the patch notes) that frozen orbs will become material ingredients for several things, including higher "current" end-game orbs. Meaning that they will most likely see a steep increase in AH prices soon.
(4:54:28 PM) Menelvagor Valar: Frozen Orbs drop from every last heroic instance btw.
(4:54:55 PM) VardaValar1: My tailor already needs Frozen Orbs for high level items.
(4:55:06 PM) Eonwe Valar: It is in the patch notes, so you know :}
(4:55:53 PM) VardaValar1: Thanks gang. :-)
(4:56:28 PM) Menelvagor Valar: Mostly naxx stuff :-)
(4:56:32 PM) VardaValar1: Gilraen and Gwaihir still have low level characters on Lothar server, also.
(4:56:39 PM) Menelvagor Valar: naxx is... for some high end raiders... low lvl stuff.
(4:57:18 PM) Menelvagor Valar: At any rate, that was the only thing I wanted to add :-)
(4:57:33 PM) VardaValar1: Thanks, Menel.
top

(4:58:08 PM) VardaValar1: Tolkien:
(4:59:16 PM) VardaValar1: We can look up some short quotes from the books. We need some to put on our messages of the day in all our games. : )
(4:59:29 PM) VardaValar1: We also have most of the rp gang here.
(4:59:50 PM) VardaValar1: Menel has a quote - digging it out right now.
(5:00:39 PM) AriehnV: *gets book from upstairs *
(5:01:10 PM) ArPharazonV: Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards...
(5:01:19 PM) VardaValar1: Good one. : )
(5:01:20 PM) Eonwe Valar: Oh, one thing that will fit well here...
(5:01:30 PM) Menelvagor Valar: haha :-)
(5:01:52 PM) Menelvagor Valar: Ok, I more or less found it, but it's well over a page long and consists of 2 more or less separate quotes :-)
(5:01:59 PM) VardaValar1: On the Forum, Eonwe left a note for us relating to both the rp and the Tolkien Site:
(5:02:02 PM) VardaValar1: I was doing some quick research for some RP-related writing and planning, and along the way I realized we could really use an article for the Valar Guild Encyclopedia on Rivendell, including geography, vegetation, and all that fun (essentially a description of the area). So, which one of you Valar Guild members or Tolkien-Onlies want to dig that stuff up and send it in? :}
(5:02:12 PM) Menelvagor Valar: so I will take the second part only :-)
(5:02:13 PM) Eonwe Valar: Varda beat me to it, hehe :}
(5:02:17 PM) VardaValar1: We need something a bit shorter, Menel, thanks.
(5:02:34 PM) ArPharazonV: I will always remember that one from the WoW site's "hint of the day" that parodied it by saying "Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup."
(5:02:53 PM) Eonwe Valar: I've heard that one from before WoW :}
(5:02:57 PM) Menelvagor Valar: I'll make it even shorter than it should be, and still it will be too long :-)
(5:03:38 PM) VardaValar1: Aye. I have that on a bumper sticker from Medieval Times. From way back.
(5:03:42 PM) VardaValar1: Cute. : )
(5:03:49 PM) ArPharazonV: Ah. Didn't know ;)
(5:04:00 PM) VardaValar1: It's worth repeating. : )
(5:04:11 PM) Eonwe Valar: How about, "A wizard is never late, nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to."
(5:04:29 PM) ArPharazonV: I always wondered where in the books he said that. Is it Rivendell?
(5:04:35 PM) karakedi25: From the chapter that is entitled Helm's Deep: He that flies counts every foeman twice.
(5:04:37 PM) VardaValar1: Or maybe when the Valar meant for him to? : )
(5:04:39 PM) Menelvagor Valar: Then Tuor bowed in reverence, for it seemed to him that he beheld a mighty king. A tall crown he wore like silver, from which his long hair fell down as foam glimmering in the dusk; and as he cast back the grey mantle that hung about him like a mist, behold!
(5:06:02 PM) Menelvagor Valar: he was clad in a gleaming coat, close-fitted as the mail of a mighty fish, and in a kirtle of deep green that flashed and flickered with sea-fire as he strode slowly towards the land. In this manner the Dweller of the Deep, whom the Noldor name Ulmo, Lord of Waters, showed himself to Tuor son of Huor of the House of Hador beneath Vinyamar.
(5:06:23 PM) Menelvagor Valar: I could go on for a while, but this is the most pertinent part of it I think.
(5:07:02 PM) Menelvagor Valar: Ulmo's appearance, as well as his direct intervention in Middle-Earth's or even the Noldor's affairs.
(5:08:12 PM) VardaValar1: Just looked up kirtle: a tunic or coat worn by men especially in the Middle Ages. -Merriam Webster's 10th Collegiate Dictionary.
(5:08:43 PM) karakedi25: It was never entirely clear to me how the other Valar felt about Ulmo's activities among the exiles.
(5:08:47 PM) VardaValar1: Indis, go ahead.
(5:09:05 PM) VardaValar1: They seemed to never obstruct him in it. That's a clue.
(5:09:28 PM) karakedi25: might suggest a secret sympathy, especially for the non-Feanorians
(5:09:35 PM) VardaValar1: Aye.
(5:09:48 PM) Menelvagor Valar: And the knowledge that not even Ulmo could revoke the Doom of Mandos.
(5:09:49 PM) karakedi25: OK here's another one from the Helm's Deep chapter:
(5:09:54 PM) VardaValar1: They had sympathy. They were restrained by oaths.
(5:10:22 PM) karakedi25: 'If they come to bargain for our goods at Helm's Gate, they will pay a high price,' said Gamling.
(5:10:23 PM) VardaValar1: They were forced to wait for Earendil.
(5:10:28 PM) Menelvagor Valar: For in the end, Turgon was too proud of what he had wrought in Gondolin, and refused to move.
(5:10:43 PM) karakedi25: yes, pride, one of the 7 deadly sins
(5:11:00 PM) VardaValar1: Hubris, to be more precise. Aye.
(5:11:17 PM) karakedi25: but Ulmo did the set-up for Earendil's coming'
(5:11:29 PM) Menelvagor Valar: true.
(5:11:30 PM) ArPharazonV: I admit I haven't done as much rereading as I should. I'm still only at Frodo, Sam and Pippin's walkabout in the Shire, not even met the Elves yet. But maybe I'll get some good quotes along the way ;)
(5:11:35 PM) VardaValar1: Might be why the others didn't obstruct him.
(5:12:05 PM) VardaValar1: One wonders if they might have secretly helped.
(5:12:14 PM) karakedi25: well, ok, we're bound by that fell oath, but let's see if we can circumvent it somehow
(5:12:20 PM) VardaValar1: Aye! hehe
(5:12:44 PM) ArPharazonV: so the Valar helped set up a halfelf who would end up circumventing the oath for them
(5:12:46 PM) VardaValar1: A shipweck to drop Voronwe off conveniently where he's needed.
(5:13:22 PM) Menelvagor Valar: Osse was kinda busy elsewhere I guess :-)
(5:13:55 PM) karakedi25: Osse did what Ulmo told him to do
(5:13:58 PM) VardaValar1: Or just happened to be storming in the area, while Uinen was keeping her hair out of the way?
(5:14:08 PM) VardaValar1: Aye.
(5:14:26 PM) ArPharazonV: Dior and Elwing also would never have been born if Mandos had not released Beren and Luthien. Also Valar interference? :)
(5:14:40 PM) VardaValar1: The Maiar are an arm of the Valar, because they want to be. They pick the Valar they hang out with and work with.
(5:14:58 PM) VardaValar1: That is pretty suspicious.
(5:15:30 PM) VardaValar1: Almost an unheard of happening.
(5:15:31 PM) karakedi25: it's interesting to think about what the protocols and rules that bound the Valar and their kind were
(5:15:38 PM) VardaValar1: Eru's hand may have been in there too.
(5:15:44 PM) karakedi25: and how they found loopholes
(5:16:01 PM) karakedi25: I would be very surprised if Eru's will were not there somehow
(5:16:03 PM) ArPharazonV: After all, without Elwing, how would Earendil have gotten the Silmaril, and found his way to Valinor?
(5:16:58 PM) VardaValar1: Elwing's being turned into a bird is pretty direct interference.
(5:17:05 PM) ArPharazonV: True.
(5:17:27 PM) ArPharazonV: I suppose we've got Valar interference in the First Age as a nice topic here.
(5:18:10 PM) VardaValar1: The Valar had a vision that they were trying to achieve, despite grumpy elves and humans, and for them. : )
(5:18:19 PM) karakedi25: Tolkien was not above a fair amount of deus ex machina (or wherever they came from in his works)
(5:18:30 PM) AriehnV: and ... i think if Silpion hadnt been chasing Aien for her fiery beauty all the time there wouldnt be moonrise or sunset :-)
(5:18:38 PM) ArPharazonV: Ulmo also sent messengers to Turin in Nargothrond, I believe, but there for once the advice wasn't agreed with.
(5:18:57 PM) VardaValar1: Mandos and Lorien needed night. They petitioned for it.
(5:19:01 PM) karakedi25: Arien, the Valar were no dummies--why do you think they chose them?
(5:19:14 PM) VardaValar1: hehe
(5:19:24 PM) AriehnV: ^^
(5:19:58 PM) AriehnV: Valar interference in Middlearth ..
(5:20:08 PM) ArPharazonV: Istari ;)
(5:20:21 PM) AriehnV: lwhich brings me unavoidably to .. Istari :-D
(5:20:27 PM) AriehnV: u beat me to that one ehehe
(5:20:48 PM) ArPharazonV: That reminds me. Gandalf told Frodo that there was something else at work, and that he was meant to have the Ring.

(5:20:52 PM) Menelvagor Valar: My Ladies and Gentlefolk. It's getting late and my headache getting... well, still the same... meaning it is time for me to retire and bid you all a fair continuation of this meeting, a splendid night, and a good sleep at the end of it.
(5:21:04 PM) ArPharazonV: I wonder how much exactly he knew, being Gandalf, one of the Maiar.
(5:21:06 PM) VardaValar1: May aspirin aid your rest. : )
(5:21:16 PM) VardaValar1: Namarie, Menel, and don't forget the rp on the forum!
(5:21:24 PM) Menelvagor Valar: I hope so, but had enough painkillers for today I am afraid.
(5:21:34 PM) karakedi25: Rest well, Menel
(5:21:36 PM) AriehnV: Namarie , Menel, and be well again soon :-)
(5:21:40 PM) Menelvagor Valar: I'll get around to it tomorrow!
(5:21:48 PM) VardaValar1: Cool. : )
(5:21:57 PM) Menelvagor Valar: Promise, cross my heart and hope to... shine I guess :-)
(5:21:59 PM) ArPharazonV left the room.
(5:22:27 PM) ArPharazonV left the room.
(5:22:47 PM) Menelvagor Valar: night night.
(5:22:47 PM) AriehnV: interesting effect lol .. Menel sais goodnight and Phar leaves the room ,.. grin
(5:22:59 PM) VardaValar1: We will be needing transcript help.
(5:22:59 PM) Menelvagor Valar: yeah, was wondering about that as well :P
(5:23:05 PM) VardaValar1: I'm having trouble saving, Phar crashed.
(5:23:14 PM) AriehnV: he is back i think
(5:23:45 PM) ArPharazonV left the room.
(5:24:08 PM) Menelvagor Valar: and gone again.
(5:24:25 PM) Menelvagor Valar: I saved the transcript for so far, will send it tomorrow along with the rp.
(5:24:28 PM) Menelvagor Valar: night night.
(5:24:36 PM) Iryenth: I'll send one again if you need
(5:24:39 PM) AriehnV: NN Mellon
(5:24:40 PM) Menelvagor Valar left the room.
(5:25:21 PM) ArPharazonV left the room.

(5:25:33 PM) AriehnV: anyuways Orophin was one of Manwes Maiar i think?
(5:26:01 PM) AriehnV: so i suppose he must have had a fair insight into future and past events
(5:26:04 PM) ArPharazonV left the room.
(5:26:09 PM) karakedi25: Orophin? The elf-king?
(5:26:21 PM) AriehnV: darn it Olorin
(5:26:23 PM) AriehnV: ^^
(5:26:27 PM) karakedi25: ;)
(5:26:30 PM) AriehnV: my bad forgive me
(5:26:34 PM) ArPharazonV left the room.
(5:26:35 PM) karakedi25: np

(5:26:36 PM) VardaValar1: Never hurts to send transcripts!
(5:26:48 PM) VardaValar1: I quilt them together as needed.
(5:27:12 PM) VardaValar1: Phar's are very nice as they have no timestamps. We call them the "fair copy". : )
(5:27:28 PM) karakedi25: if not the 'Phar' copy

(5:27:42 PM) VardaValar1: Olorin aka Gandalf worked with at least two Valar.

(5:27:52 PM) AriehnV: nice i think you can switch them on and off .. the time stamps i mean in the settings]

(5:28:10 PM) karakedi25: I believe he was originally a Maia of Lorien who also learned a great deal from Nienna

(5:28:24 PM) Iryenth: I can make them not visible in the screen, but it still saves them to the log
(5:28:29 PM) VardaValar1: If you can switch yours off for it, ok. My old one said they were off and weren't. This one isn't saving at all.
(5:28:39 PM) VardaValar1: Aye, same problem here, Gilraen.

(5:29:24 PM) VardaValar1: When Olorin was to go along as an Istari, Varda stated that he was not the least, as he thought. Saruman noticed that comment.
(5:30:13 PM) karakedi25: Saruman was probably always worried about Gandalf's supplanting him.
(5:30:13 PM) ArPharazonV left the room.
(5:30:44 PM) VardaValar1: as one of the Istari, pardon

(5:31:36 PM) VardaValar1: Phar can't get back in
(5:31:47 PM) VardaValar1: Got blocked somehow
(5:33:44 PM) VardaValar1: Eonwe, could you try to invite Phar back?

(5:34:48 PM) VardaValar1: Aye, Indis.
(5:35:01 PM) karakedi25: ?
(5:35:02 PM) karakedi25: ?
(5:35:14 PM) karakedi25: About Olorin?
(5:35:49 PM) ArPharazonV left the room.
(5:36:09 PM) VardaValar1: Saruman's concern about Gandalf as a rival.

(5:36:42 PM) VardaValar1: Eonwe and I tried inviting Phar, but he's only getting error messages.
(5:37:35 PM) VardaValar1: Phar has to get up in 5 hours, sent the transcript as far as he had it and went offline.
(5:38:12 PM) AriehnV: bleh me too
(5:38:45 PM) VardaValar1: Eonwe is looking for a quote. If you like, you can read it in the transcript. : )
(5:39:11 PM) Eonwe Valar: It's proving hard to dig up, so don't know if I'll find it today.
(5:39:22 PM) AriehnV: i got one actuallly just before i make my way out L(O
(5:39:29 PM) AriehnV: :-)
(5:39:30 PM) VardaValar1: O cool! Fire away!
(5:40:30 PM) arwenv1: I could mail a transcript if needed =o
(5:40:38 PM) VardaValar1: That would be great, Arwen!

(5:41:06 PM) VardaValar1: The elves knew Gandalf was a Maia, even if he was one that had been downgraded.
arwenv1 (5:41:36 PM):    downgraded?
VardaValar1 (5:42:13 PM):    All of the Istari had a large part of their power and memory removed before entering Middle-earth. They were to guide, not to fight Sauron on their own.
AriehnV (5:42:25 PM):    "One thing you have not found in your hunting trip, and that 's brighter wits.", said Pippin., opening an eye. "Here we sit on a field of victory, amid the plunder of armies, and you wonder how we came by a few well-earned comforts" (quote finish)
VardaValar1 (5:42:37 PM):    hehe - nice one, Arien!
AriehnV (5:43:15 PM):    its one of thes Tolkienesque humor things i love so much :-)
AriehnV (5:43:28 PM):    there is  a bit in that passage and after i love it
AriehnV (5:43:46 PM):    and the other one of course is in the Houses of Healing grin
arwenv1 (5:43:47 PM):    sent
AriehnV (5:44:08 PM):    Namarie for now :-)
VardaValar1 (5:44:19 PM):    Namarie and thank you for the quote. : )
VardaValar1 (5:46:14 PM):    We seem to have come to the end of our conversation for now.
VardaValar1 (5:46:35 PM):    I look forward to next week, and to when we see each other in-game.
VardaValar1 (5:46:51 PM):    *bangs gavel with a silvery ting sound*
top

After-meeting:
VardaValar1 (5:47:18 PM):    Eonwe, only Eowyn and I are present here that might be able to come to WoW.
VardaValar1 (5:47:29 PM):    Bilbo, Sauron, and Fangorn are not home.
Eonwe Valar (5:47:50 PM):    ok
VardaValar1 (5:48:01 PM):    Things may change by 7pm CST, it was?
arwenv1 (5:48:05 PM):    I'm on my horde rogue :)
VardaValar1 (5:48:11 PM):    o cool!
Eonwe Valar (5:48:15 PM):    7pm VST, 6pm Central.
VardaValar1 (5:48:24 PM):    Are you on Lothar or Uldaman, Arwen?
Eonwe Valar (5:48:26 PM):    so 10 minutes from now.
VardaValar1 (5:48:31 PM):    ouch
VardaValar1 (5:48:40 PM):    The guys will definitely not be here.
VardaValar1 (5:48:56 PM):    I'm going to go shove some chicken in the oven, with a mess of spices. : )
VardaValar1 (5:49:00 PM):    Getting hungry.
arwenv1 (5:49:00 PM):    Lothar
Eonwe Valar (5:49:15 PM):    Go for it :}
karakedi25 (5:49:19 PM):    will we see you in lotro?
VardaValar1 (5:49:41 PM):    I'm hoping to sneak into LotRO after the chicken is stuffed into the oven.
VardaValar1 (5:49:49 PM):    Any chance of Sword Halls? ;-)
VardaValar1 (5:50:20 PM):    My Valar time yesterday went to the Tolkien Site.
VardaValar1 (5:51:08 PM):    Setting up the Chat logger. Maybe that'll help.
karakedi25 (5:51:10 PM):    Tinirian is in 16th now, but sure, later a good chance of SH
VardaValar1 (5:51:12 PM):    Namarie for now!
