VardaValar1: Good to see you folks here. :-) Thanks for coming!

Eonwe Valar: Web:
Eonwe Valar: Nothing really on my end, except the year's Merry Christmas thread is up on the forum :}
VardaValar1: Nothing new here, just planning.
VardaValar1: I hope to have something more concrete next time, so to speak.
fladrifv has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Heya Fladrif :}
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
Eonwe Valar: We look forward to it, Varda :} You should have something from me by then too *cough*
VardaValar1: Looking forward to that too. :-)

Eonwe Valar: Gaming:
Eonwe Valar: WoW:
Eonwe Valar: Get your Presents from Greatfather Winter in Ironforge while you can. This year the fancy toy is a zeppelin.
Eonwe Valar: Lothar:
Eonwe Valar: Last Sunday, we ran a couple of instances: Blackrock Caverns and Throen of the Tides.
Eonwe Valar: *Throne
Eonwe Valar: Participants: Eonwė, Sauron, Fangorn, Gimli, Bofur.
Eonwe Valar: Some of us hand't found the entries yet, and some of us couldn't queue for the Dungeon finder because we were too high a level, so we had to hunt down these instances personally.
Eonwe Valar: Overall, the run went smoothly, and it was obviously Healer's Night because Fangorn walked out with a nice chunk of loot :}
VardaValar1: Yay Fangorn :-)
Eonwe Valar: Since this Friday was Christmas Eve, no runs were scheduled since I expected most of us would be busy with family stuff. Depending on who we have on tonight, and if anyone feels like it, we may try a couple of dungeons tonight after the meeting.
Eonwe Valar: In other Lothar news, the guild is now level 4, and we have, I beleive, 5 85s now: Bofur, Nob, Eonwe, Sauron, and Gimli.
Eonwe Valar: And not a healer between us, hehe.

Eonwe Valar: LotRO:
Eonwe Valar: Varda, your floor :}
VardaValar1: Ok
VardaValar1: We had a run on Wednesday in Annuminas, trying to learn how to operate as a team against the main boss.
VardaValar1: We did better than last time but still need work.
VardaValar1: We've had a lot of folks on enjoying the Winter Festival and the regular questing, deeding, crafting, chatting. :-)
VardaValar1: End report.
Eonwe Valar: Thanks :}

Eonwe Valar: Since no one whispered, I can only assume we have no more gaming news :}
ArPharazonV: Sorry, too much time spent on WoW to play other games ;-)
VardaValar1: Well, StarCraft/BroodWar was popular here as a LAN on the Christmas holidays. :-)
Eonwe Valar: Understandable :}
Eonwe Valar: :}
ArPharazonV: got some WoW gifts for christmas though! comic book and a t-shirt
VardaValar1: How nifty. :-)
VardaValar1: Elwing got Cataclysm for Christmas and is working on getting Broadband, but I guess Christmas holidays made a bit of tech delay. She's here right now on WoW.
ArPharazonV: also a good gift :-)
Eonwe Valar: How dare they take Christmas off? Can't they see we need tech now? :}
Eonwe Valar: If there's any question, that was me kidding :}

Eonwe Valar: Any further business before we head into Tolkien?
ArPharazonV: \o got myself a Tolkien-book for X-mas as well, though not in the universe we're always on about, this is a translation of Norse legends by him.
ArPharazonV: Looking pretty neat.
Eonwe Valar: Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun?
ArPharazonV: Having said that, you can continue with proper Tolkien :-)
ArPharazonV: yes!
AriehnV has entered the room.
AriehnV: aiya all and merry merry chrismas all :-D
ArPharazonV: Aiya
VardaValar1: Aiya Sunshine :-) Merry Christmas!
Eonwe Valar: I bought it when it first came out. Was saddened because it seemed I was one of less than a handful who picked it up. My bookstore actually sent a chunk back to the warehouse.
VardaValar1: o man
AriehnV: which book was that?
ArPharazonV: I'd no idea it existed until I saw it standing there on its own in the local bookstore, while I was trying to find something for X-mas.
Eonwe Valar: Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun. Phar got it for Christmas.
VardaValar1: We have a Sigurd-(V). :-)
AriehnV: wow ah i see :-)
AriehnV: i got finally a copy of the Silmarillion in English :-)
VardaValar1: Very good!
ArPharazonV: great!
Eonwe Valar: Aye, it got almost no fanfare at release. Children of Hurin got alot. This one I didn't even know about until it was sitting on the new release cart.
Eonwe Valar: Congrats Arien :}
AriehnV: :-)
VardaValar1: That really shows the importance of advertising. -Fangorn. He caught that.
Eonwe Valar: Ok, Tolkien: Now we're there officially :}
VardaValar1: We get a little over-the-shoulder. :-)
Eonwe Valar: :}
ArPharazonV: *waves over Varda's shoulder at onlookers*
AriehnV: *sends a sunbeam right over Vardas right shoulder to any curious spies "
VardaValar1: hehe
VardaValar1: *light shines on Elwing and Fangorn*

Eonwe Valar: For Tolkien tonight, let's go around the channel and name our favorite scene from any of Tolkien's books about Arda.
VardaValar1: The mental image of Gimli and Legolas walking through Gondor and the people looking at them in amazement for their being so different and yet friends.
VardaValar1: Fangorn-(Valar): Frodo did really well in his fight against Shelob.
ArPharazonV: Luthien dancing with her magic mantle, making Morgoth and all his dark minions fall asleep in their own stronghold, always prickled my imagination.
VardaValar1: Nice one, Phar.
VardaValar1: Elwing-(V): The beauty of the place when the Fellowship were looking around Lothlorien.
Eonwe Valar: Fingolfin's duel against Morgoth is quite moving. He knows he stands no real chance, but he does it anyway in an effort to end the war with no more loss of his people.
VardaValar1: A song duel, amazing.
AriehnV: Aragorn in the houses of healing looking after Merry after his heroic kill of the Witchkings mount was it or himself? i reallly have to read that book again, alas
Eonwe Valar: That was Finrod vs Sauron.
AriehnV: it always makes me laugh
Eonwe Valar: Oh, when Merry asks about his pack?
ArPharazonV: Merry struck him in the knee from behind
ArPharazonV: giving Eowyn a moment of opportunity :-)
AriehnV: aye
AriehnV: thats the one
AriehnV: the tobacco ^^
Eonwe Valar: I thought Aragorn's first vision of Arwen was good too.
VardaValar1: Aye, Merry vs the Witch-king.
VardaValar1: Pardon, song duel between Finrod and Sauron, amazing, original.
VardaValar1: Fingolfin was a bit fey and went out with glory.
VardaValar1: hehe, Merry and pipe-weed. :-)
VardaValar1: Gwaihir's attack on Morgoth and re-taking Fingolfin's body.
VardaValar1: *sigh* Thorondor, not Gwaihir.
Eonwe Valar: It happens :}
AriehnV: Bilbos Riddlegame with Smaug
VardaValar1: That was nervy. :-)
AriehnV: but brilliant
VardaValar1: Aye! :-)
Eonwe Valar: Hehe, that does take guts to riddle with a dragon.
ArPharazonV: :-)
ArPharazonV: Barrel-rider...
VardaValar1: That was the oops name. Sent Smaug after the village.
AriehnV: aye that blew it
AriehnV: but like the scene .. and Gandalf distracting the ogres .. err Trolls earlier on in the Hobbit until they were turned to stone
AriehnV: arguing about how to cook one Hobbit and and 12 dwarves
ArPharazonV: should've just sat on them and got it over with ;-)
VardaValar1: eww
VardaValar1: Safer. :-)
Eonwe Valar: Should've just listened to the one saying eat them raw :}
VardaValar1: Faster. :-)
Eonwe Valar: They would've got at least 2 or three of them before Gandalf intervened then :}
VardaValar1: The mental picture of a goblin riding a great wolf/warg.
VardaValar1: The Argonath as seen coming to it from a canoe on the great river.
Eonwe Valar: The Argonath was a sight to see, aye.
VardaValar1: Seeing the underground river at Thranduil's Hall and *thinking* of the barrel trick and jumping in after.
VardaValar1: Shooting down a fell beast ridden by a Nazgul in the pitch dark.
Eonwe Valar: Has everyone had a chance to contribute their favorite scene?
VardaValar1: Well, a bunch of cool scenes. Favorite, that
VardaValar1: is tough.
VardaValar1: The ships coming to the Pelennor Fields.
VardaValar1: Ghosts taking the ships.
Eonwe Valar: Aye, figured it'd help keep the number of choices small if I made everyone choose their favorite :}
ArPharazonV: The ships coming to Umbar 3000 years prior :-)
VardaValar1: o dear. :-)
Eonwe Valar: If everyone has to think aboutthe ones they liked best, we get the ones they *really* liked, that they would put above other scenes :}
VardaValar1: Destruction of Mordor at the end, caused by hobbits!
Eonwe Valar: Aye, the irony that the greatest power in Middle-Earth was brought down by the smallest guy the Free Peoples could find, hehe.
AriehnV: hehe .. true enough
AriehnV: the epicity of whole middle earth ... history creation and mysticism all in one :-)
AriehnV: i also liked the farewell party at Bilbos place giving his speech
Eonwe Valar: My friends, I think now may be the time to bang the gavel and usher us in to Aftermeeting :}
Eonwe Valar: *raises gavel*
Eonwe Valar: *Bangs gavel*
top

Eonwe Valar: Aftermeeting :}
VardaValar1: Yay! *hands around hot chocolate with marshmallows*
VardaValar1: But for the Silmarillion, maybe the sinking of Numenor with the destruction of the fleet and others skittering on the wind towards Middle-earth while the world goes from flat to round.
Eonwe Valar: I suppose one could've also pulled a "Bill and Ted" and said "The best place in Midde-Earth is here. The best time in Middle-Earth is now." hehe
VardaValar1: oops, that would be true too!
VardaValar1: The moment that the Ainur and Valar first saw Eru's vision of the World and fell in love with it.

AriehnV: :-) have a lot of happy moments these holidays and namarie until we meet again :-)
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
ArPharazonV: Merry Christmas to you!
AriehnV: and to you mate :-D
VardaValar1: Namarie!
Eonwe Valar: Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night :}
AriehnV: i ve been exploring and got caught in hyjal on the lock which is why i was a bit late :0
VardaValar1: Many happy Moments to you too!
AriehnV: cataclysm strikes with vengeance alas
VardaValar1: Great huh? :-)
AriehnV: oh aye i love it
AriehnV: :-)
AriehnV has left the room.
Menelvagor Valar has entered the room.
Menelvagor Valar: Aiya!
ArPharazonV: Aiya
Menelvagor Valar: seems meeting is already kinda over... judging by the silence.
ArPharazonV: Pretty much.
Menelvagor Valar: oh well.
ArPharazonV: Merry Christmas!
Menelvagor Valar: for us it's already 56 minutes officially over, but still, Merry Christmas :-D
Eonwe Valar: Heya Menel :}
Menelvagor Valar: Aiya Eonwe :-D
ArPharazonV: It's always Christmas where there is good in a man's heart!
ArPharazonV: ...Or some moralistic nonsense like that.
Menelvagor Valar: not nonsense.
Menelvagor Valar: basic common sense.
VardaValar1: Aiya Menel :-)
VardaValar1: It's the 26th here as well, but the holidays seem to go across the month clear to New Year's, keeping spirits cheerfully bright.
ArPharazonV: saving and sending transcript
ArPharazonV: and yes, it's common sense, but holidays don't last as long as we want them to just because we're peaceful ;-)
