Eonwe Valar: Welcome back :}
VardaValar1: Silly AIM tried to update me mid-sentence. :-)

ArPharazonV: Aiya
Eonwe Valar: Has he already an invitation to the channel?
VardaValar1: Not from me. I don't see how to invite him yet.
VardaValar1: found it in the menu
Eonwe Valar: Right click on his name, select group chat, change channel name to this channel.
VardaValar1: Did anyone invite him?
ArPharazonV: says his software doesn't support it or he's not taking invites
VardaValar1: It wasn't there, but was on the menu
VardaValar1: I'll tell him in LotRO.
VardaValar1: He's fighting, says he needs a sec. :-)
VardaValar1: If he's in Facebook it may not work.
Eonwe Valar: Ok, let's go ahead and begin the meeting. If you have any news, whisper me so I know to call on you.
VardaValar1: Fire when ready!

Eonwe Valar: Elen Sila Lumenn Omentielvo!
Eonwe Valar: Membership:
Eonwe Valar: We're here :}
VardaValar1: Huzzah!
Eonwe Valar: Any other Membership news?
VardaValar1: Eowyn and Faramir-to-be are moving to
VardaValar1: Arizona. Trip starts Monday, should arrive maybe Tuesday.
VardaValar1: A bunch of us are collecting at my house for a send-off this evening. Elwing is here, Fangorn, trying out Worgen. :-)
VardaValar1: Sauron is here. Bilbo's at work but hopes to be here.
AriehnV: pfft wish i could .. havent got my cata yet :-(((
Eonwe Valar: Safe journey to them as they travel to Ithilien, er, Arizona :}
VardaValar1: Elwing is setting up to get broadband at last, so that she can join us in Cataclysm and LotRO.
ArPharazonV: hmm... Worgen...
VardaValar1: hehe - well said!
VardaValar1: That's all my news.
Eonwe Valar: Thanks Varda :}
VardaValar1: mp :-)

Eonwe Valar: Web:
Eonwe Valar: Nothing to announce on my end at the moment. Varda?
VardaValar1: I did a little background work, not nearly enough. :-)
Eonwe Valar: :}
VardaValar1: Could use help replacing most of Eru's unreferenced articles. He did a lot.
VardaValar1: Don't have to be long, just correct.
Eonwe Valar: And referenced :}
VardaValar1: Aye, thanks. Original books, not internet.
VardaValar1: Tolkien's books.

Eonwe Valar: Gaming:
Eonwe Valar: WoW:
Eonwe Valar: Cataclysm is out.
ArPharazonV: With a vengeance.
Eonwe Valar: People are already 84-85, in the first week, which is normal, except that I'm one of them, which is odd, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: Lothar:
Eonwe Valar: We finished off Ahn'Qiraj 40 fairly quickly.
Eonwe Valar: We didn't have enough to try ICC, so a few of us opted to go into Blackwing Lair instead.
VardaValar1: Sauron is 85. :-)
Eonwe Valar: We had to swing through Blackrock Spire first so that some of us could get attuned to the teleporting orb.
Eonwe Valar: Blackwing Lair went surprisingly fast and smoothly, and a couple of us have our Classic Raider achievements as a result.
Eonwe Valar: Attending the AQ40 run: Eonwė, Sauron, Fangorn, Bofur, Nob, Gimli, Dracxil, and Rayearth.
Eonwe Valar: Attedning the BWL/BRS run: Eonwė, Rayearth, Fangorn, Bofur, Sauron.
Eonwe Valar: Most of us spent Friday evening questing, some of us improvemng our tradeskills.
Eonwe Valar: *improving
Eonwe Valar: On a side note, the guild is lvl 2, and pushing towards level 3.
Eonwe Valar: (As in getting close to level 3)
Eonwe Valar: If it's not already there since this morning :}
ArPharazonV: hmm, my guild needs about 1 more bar to lvl 3... we've been going rather slowly the last 2 days
Eonwe Valar: I also chipped in the last 75ish gold needed to get our 6th bank tab, so we now have that.
VardaValar1: Huzzah!
ArPharazonV: grats :-)
Eonwe Valar: At the guild have two 85s now, Sauron being the Second. I believe Nob was the first :}
Eonwe Valar: At = Also
Eonwe Valar: have = has, hehe

Eonwe Valar: LotRO:
Eonwe Valar: Varda, would you like to give a LotRO report?
VardaValar1: ok
VardaValar1: I dont' seem to have updated it on the News, my apologies.
VardaValar1: On Monday
VardaValar1: we ran instances in the afternoon.
VardaValar1: Library, School, and Thror's Coomb, all successful.
VardaValar1: The Monday 8pm instance regular time did not materialize due to lack of people.
VardaValar1: Wednesday 8pm we did group for
VardaValar1: the book quest 2.5.5 doing the first part for the Battle of the 21st Hall.
VardaValar1: But three of those needing it were called away for another kin's instance run so we did not complete the other two sections.
VardaValar1: This incident also caused a problem that I'm currently addressing.
VardaValar1: Ulmo expressed his feelings in a post on the forum concerning the subject.
VardaValar1: Monday and Wednesday nights need to be for high level instance running, learning to do well in 6-mans and up with our mains or main alts.
VardaValar1: We need to set up another night or two to handle regular log-jammed book questing and lowbie questing to allow this.
VardaValar1: We need regular members who are on a lot, who can schedule a time during the week, to help run this. Possibly swap off.
VardaValar1: On-level groups are the most fun, but we can fill in for groups that are too small with higher levels acting as several people.
VardaValar1: I put this suggestion on the post after Ulmo's to allow comments.
AriehnV: for me its very frustrating at times with having not really a high level character
VardaValar1: Ulmo left before we started the 2.5.5 book instance.
VardaValar1: Aye, and it's frustrating for the higher levels to always have to do lowbie stuff.
AriehnV: i cant join you and for you its a pain to help me out always
VardaValar1: So we need both groups helped.
VardaValar1: You are not the only one with a low main.
VardaValar1: We have quite a few.
VardaValar1: We invite folks who are just starting out in their first MMO, or first-time LotRO players because they're nice, scholarly, and worth helping. :-)
Eonwe Valar: I need to go afk for a few minutes. Varda has the gavel :}
VardaValar1: Arien, you are high enough to help some of these very low people and some of us with low alts. :-)
VardaValar1: We have others who can help you.
VardaValar1: Eomer and Galdor find the idea good.
VardaValar1: We do need to work out days and times. The forum can help with this.
VardaValar1: We also need to mark down on the forum which instance we are running on Mon/Wed so we can be ready with research and whatever is needed in the raid kit.
VardaValar1: On any of these runs, we all need to show up a little early, make sure our raid kits are loaded, and be ready to go at the appointed time.
VardaValar1: We don't need to be running off on other quests just before, causing others to wait for them.
VardaValar1: Some of the members have a very tight time to play in.
VardaValar1: People work, have class, and other considerations.
VardaValar1: We can do this. :-)
VardaValar1: We just need to use a little common sense and get organized. :-)
fladrifv has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: Aiya Fladrif
VardaValar1: I'm taking volunteers to help out the lowbie quests. This can be done on the forum, AIM, and in-game. Even email.
VardaValar1: Aiya Flad :-)
VardaValar1: Any comments or suggestions?
VardaValar1: Some of you old raiders may have some ideas.
VardaValar1: WoW raiding organization is not a lot different.
VardaValar1: Except you're lucky enough to have an event calendar in-game!
VardaValar1: Maybe we should request that of our LotRO Devs.
VardaValar1: If there are no suggestions,
VardaValar1: do we have any report from Eve Online?
VardaValar1: Guild Wars?
VardaValar1: Second Life?
ArPharazonV: Not much GW, just ran from one town to the next
ArPharazonV: been busy with Cata ;-)
VardaValar1: Thanks Phar. :-)
VardaValar1: Cataclysm has been the big thing for the Laytonrim other than myself. Better planned on the new areas, imo.
VardaValar1: StarCraft?
ArPharazonV: I'm still going through the lower zones, to be honest, trying to see what's changed since the Shattering, and gettting all the quest achievements, though I am enjoying flight and archaeology
ArPharazonV: did the Plant vs Zombies questline yesterday :-)
VardaValar1: (Please whisper Tolkien topics)
VardaValar1: (Suggestion by Galdor to help organize LotRO is in-game mail from officers, but it has no reply.)
AriehnV: levelling a tauren paladin atm on auchindoun but once i get my cata i ll go to that on argent dawn
AriehnV: but the parcel got stuck in the ice
VardaValar1: (Need more Forum use. LotROmail replies can be in-game to Fainan.)
AriehnV: and now the mail is piling up in glasgow main storage
ArPharazonV: eep
VardaValar1: Is there any further gaming news?
ArPharazonV: my CE arrived right on time, tuesday morning
VardaValar1: Congrats, Phar! :-)
ArPharazonV: think the Behind the scenes dvd is either damaged, or there's something wrong with my media players...
ArPharazonV: sound's not working on some pieces
VardaValar1: uh oh
ArPharazonV: but still testing things out
ArPharazonV: the rest's good though!
ArPharazonV: and ya, think I gave all my news now
VardaValar1: Thank you

VardaValar1: Tolkien:
VardaValar1: We could really use help on the Tolkien Site in replacing the old, non-referenced articles by Eru from the early days when we were still learning.
VardaValar1: Most aren't very long. They can be located from his author's page for articles. Quick way to it is from the Membership page.
fladrifv has left the room.
VardaValar1: We also need help on the incidents that occurred during the reigns of the Kings, so can list them and link to them from each king.
VardaValar1: The human kings are well-started but need a ton of work.
VardaValar1: We haven't begun the elf-kings due to the lack of finishing the human kings.
VardaValar1: I can start into that anyway.
Eonwe Valar: Back.
VardaValar1: It should be shorter and might have more interest for the group.
VardaValar1: Welcome back
Eonwe Valar: Having help from other members I'm sure would make it easier :}
VardaValar1: I could do like Amillo/Elatan and do the whole site alone, but this is intended to be authored by all members of the Valar Guild.
VardaValar1: The original intention was that each person could author at least one article on his/her own character.
VardaValar1: They could branch out with other characters/events/objects they found interesting.
VardaValar1: No deadline, but never is not very productive. :-)
VardaValar1: Folks here have helped, and I thank you!
ArPharazonV: *whistles innocently*
VardaValar1: It needs to be a continuing effort, however.
VardaValar1: The character might have only a section about his life, rather than the whole thing, as some part that is especially interesting to you.
VardaValar1: Salmar seemed to hafve only one line about him.
VardaValar1: When he started digging, he found a lot more in the Histories and became much more interested in his character, and interested us as well.
VardaValar1: This also helps give food for Tolkien Chats. :-)
VardaValar1: That's all I had on that. :-)
Eonwe Valar: Hmm, I was sure Irmo fka Salmar had written a fuller article on the former name.
VardaValar1: Yes, he did. That's what I'm talking about.
Eonwe Valar: Oh, pardon. I jumped in on the middle of your dialogue :}
VardaValar1: When we start digging, we may discover some marvelous surprises. :-)
VardaValar1: No problem. It needed said in a shorter version too. :-)
Eonwe Valar: Any comments on the Encyclopedia? :} Besides it's awesome and we're all now typing up artciles to send in the next five minutes? :}
VardaValar1: lol
Eonwe Valar: *articles
AriehnV: hehe i wrote two in the last year i think ;-)
AriehnV: or one story and one article
VardaValar1: Do check the Encyc and see if there's an article for your character and tell us. :-)
Eonwe Valar: Did we have any Tolkien topics?
VardaValar1: The one I just mentioned.
VardaValar1: Please link your article. It doesn't have to be by you!
VardaValar1: The one for Varda could sure use work. Not just picking on you guys. :-)
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/articles/v/Varda/Varda.htm
VardaValar1: Please link the Ency article for your characters if there is one. If not, please mention that.
Eonwe Valar: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/articles/e/Eonwe/EonweE.htm
VardaValar1: Search and your character name can be fast. :-)
VardaValar1: Thank you, Eonwe. :-)
Eonwe Valar: :}
VardaValar1: Should I assume the rest of you are no longer present? :-)
VardaValar1: If you need help navigating the Encyc, that's important to know also.
ArPharazonV: looking, looking.. internet is a bit slow
VardaValar1: ouch, ok.
VardaValar1: short afk. Passing the gavel to Eonwe.
ArPharazonV: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/articles/a/Ar-Pharazon/Ar-Pharazon.htm
Eonwe Valar: Any luck finding articles on your namesakes, Arien and Ancalagon? :}
Eonwe Valar: In the Guild Encyclopedia?
Eonwe Valar: Is everyone happy with their article, or is there something missing that you think should be added?
Eonwe Valar: I know my article is fine, because I wrote it :}
VardaValar1: There you go. :-)
VardaValar1: Updates can be added later as you like also, after you discover new things.
Ancbeard: sorry, i have been mostly, afk (shoveling). whats goin on?
ArPharazonV: Mine looks substantial enough, though I'm sure there's more details to be found scattered all over the place
VardaValar1: More than one for Phar. :-)
ArPharazonV: That also. But there seems to be one main one, by... Daeron?
VardaValar1: Daeron who used to be Cirdan, did a ton of articles.
VardaValar1: Daeron's is not as long as the other.
VardaValar1: Theoden-(T) did it.
ArPharazonV: Hmm. Seems longer. Maybe just less condensed.
AriehnV: i know there is an article or two on my name , when i picked the name i flipped through them and because i liked what i read i chose it
VardaValar1: I take it back. Daeron's is longer.
VardaValar1: Theoden's took more for me to do because it had translations.
ArPharazonV: :-)
VardaValar1: Arien, could you link your article from the Ency?
VardaValar1: Ancalagon, we're looking in our Tolkien Site for articles on our own characters.
VardaValar1: We're seeing if they need work or are just great. :-)
karakedi25 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Indis
karakedi25: Aiya
karakedi25: sorry about being so late. Pidgin isn't working for me, and I had to install AIM.
Eonwe Valar: Oh no, anything but that :}
VardaValar1: Indis, we're looking in our Tolkien Site for articles on our own characters. We're seeing if they need work.
ArPharazonV: Aiya
VardaValar1: AIM keeps updating, probably hard for Pidgin to keep up.
karakedi25: It would be fine if I could figure out how to join the group. Varda had to invite me.
VardaValar1: We are looking up our own characters and putting the link in here.
Eonwe Valar: I haven't seen AIM try to update me in a while actually. Maybe I should see if it's wanting me to in the background.
VardaValar1: Had one when I came on.
VardaValar1: Indis, put your name on your friend list.
VardaValar1: Select your name.
VardaValar1: Click Group Chat
VardaValar1: On the bottom it says Chat Room and is filled with numbers. Delete the numbers and type in the name of the room.
VardaValar1: Valar Guild Meetingplace
karakedi25: so it's new group chat. I think I have it.
ArPharazonV: I still get the update every week or so, and then I say "remind me later"
ArPharazonV: still stubbornly refusing to!
VardaValar1: As long as it still works for you Phar!
VardaValar1: Phar still has the cleanest transcript of the meetings.
karakedi25: Nothing in the Tolkien site about Indis.
VardaValar1: Mine is showing some real life names and names I added intended at notes.
AriehnV: i was hoping one of the corp memmber would come as guest to listen who likes tolkien tonight
AriehnV: but a corp op tonighjt a pvp exercise so thats why i was a bit silent
VardaValar1: Indis, would you be willing to research actual Tolkien books and write an article telling what is known about Indis?
karakedi25: In due course, I could.
VardaValar1: Ok, that's fine.
karakedi25: There isn't much.
VardaValar1: Ancalagon, did you find your article in the Encyc?
VardaValar1: Arien, could you link the article for your character?
VardaValar1: If there isn't much, Indis, it should be an easy one to write. :-)
karakedi25: The writing shouldn't take long. Scouring texts might.
VardaValar1: Since Anc seems afk, here's the Ancalagon article: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/articles/a/Ancalagon.htm
karakedi25: I know there's something in the article Tolkien did about marriage customs among the eldar
VardaValar1: Ok, work on it when you have time. Good luck.
karakedi25: As well as the Silmarillion itself.
VardaValar1: Yes, Indis. It will take a while to do the research. Just when you can.
VardaValar1: Arien's article is: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/articles/a/Arien/Arien.htm
VardaValar1: Ok, this topic seems to have left most afk, so on to another.
karakedi25: The roleplay?
VardaValar1: Indis, you wanted to discuss more on the LotRO instance running?
karakedi25: I wondered what has already been said, so I don't inadvertently contradict or reinvent round rolling things.
VardaValar1: Ok, then I guess that's a no.
karakedi25: I will say that no matter how much we schedule, if people don't come in on time or at all, it's still going to be frustrating.
karakedi25: And most of the people involved aren't here at this meeting.
VardaValar1: We have a forum thread on the subject. That should help the timing and being here problem.

VardaValar1: Indis, did you have a comment or suggestion on the role-playing forum thread?
karakedi25: Have we decided what's happening next? Do we depart for the High Pass?
VardaValar1: What would you think would be good next, Indis?
Eonwe Valar: I'll get us moving in my next post. I've just been busy with other tasks during the week, not all of which were Cataclysm :}
VardaValar1: hehe
Eonwe Valar: Sicne we have the majority of RPers here, though,..
Eonwe Valar: *Since
VardaValar1: Don't know if Menel's internet has been repaired yet. Phar or Arien know?
Eonwe Valar: How far/fast would we like to push the pace? Breeze over the trip from where we are now to the Carrock, or Shall we stop for a moment at the Forest Gate?
VardaValar1: Who all is present? Please type Aye.
VardaValar1: Aye
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
ArPharazonV: Aye.
AriehnV: err aye :-)
AriehnV: i dont think there should be anymore interrruptions now
AriehnV: from spiders or orcs
AriehnV: i think the numbers of patrols will have been increased after this wee battle
AriehnV: so it should be safe
Eonwe Valar: Aye, but I mean stopping at the Forest gate for reflection or a brief rest more than because of a fight.
ArPharazonV: "Finally, sunlight!"
VardaValar1: That sort of thing, right!
AriehnV: maybe some thing like a reaction to come out of the forest aye#
AriehnV: and maybe the enthusiasm to climb over the mountains ..
VardaValar1: Could also bring memories, and noticing an increase of sentries.
ArPharazonV: *points at mountains* so where do we cross to Rivendell, Auros?
VardaValar1: We had a fight here earlier. Picked up a wolf, ran into the shadow.
karakedi25: Present
VardaValar1: I don't know my way well outside the forest except from a map, Auros.
karakedi25: Aye, just delayed
karakedi25: Perhaps run into a wandering Beorning?
VardaValar1: Might even be a suspicious, patrolling Beorning, due to the strange activities.
VardaValar1: Shadow that affects animals would upset them.
VardaValar1: They may have noticed the party of baddies leaving in a hurry.
VardaValar1: Or they might have been too far in the wrong direction and not know what we're asking about.
ArPharazonV: Maybe they have a sidequest for us!
karakedi25: There's a thought.
VardaValar1: Be nice if it is related to the main quest, otherwise just a digression. See if we can relate it.
karakedi25: How about effects from the sorcerer on the Beornings. They ask what we know about it, and ask us if we can help with something making their bees ill, or the like.
VardaValar1: Sorry folks, I have to make a trip one town over in real life.
VardaValar1: Eonwe has the gavel. :-)
VardaValar1: Namarie for now.
Eonwe Valar: Take care and have fun :}
VardaValar1 has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Actually, let's bang the gavel here :}
Eonwe Valar: I think the chat has died down at this point, and it's 2.5 hours after meeting start.
ArPharazonV: We can discuss a sidequest next time!
Eonwe Valar: *bangs gavel*
ArPharazonV: Though I like Indis' line of thought.
Eonwe Valar: Aftermeeting :}
Eonwe Valar: I don't think Auros and sidequests will mix well, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: We'll see though. It ought to be interesting.
Eonwe Valar: And aye, we can talk more about it next time. We have until we arrive at the Carrock to work it out :}
Eonwe Valar: Actually, we can throw it up on the discusson thread as well, get some thought on it during the week.
ArPharazonV: I guess that works
ArPharazonV: saving and sending transcript
