Before-meeting:
You have just entered room "valarguildmeetingplace."
VardaValar1 (4:02:35 PM) has entered the room.  [Note: time in CST, add 1 hour for EST]
fladrifv (4:02:59 PM) has entered the room.
ArPharazonV (4:03:01 PM) has entered the room.
fladrifv (4:03:05 PM): Aiya
ArPharazonV: was *just* about to join
ArPharazonV: one last try on 4 horsemen, brb
Bior the Ythling has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya :-)
Bior the Ythling: Aiya
ArPharazonV: oh, yes, Aiya all :-)
VardaValar1: I do have the time right? 5pm EST?
Bior the Ythling: indeed you do
AriehnV has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Thanks :-)
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Arien and Eonwe : )
AriehnV: Aiya all :-)
Eonwe Valar: Heya
ArPharazonV: Aiya both
ArPharazonV: allright, about to start, in-game for a few minutes
VardaValar1: We'll try to have the meeting finished before you're back. :-)
top

VardaValar1: Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo!
VardaValar1: A star shines on the hour of our meeting. :-)
VardaValar1: It's that time of year again when we figure out who is with us for 2009.
VardaValar1: And we can look back at the previous year and gasp. : )

VardaValar1: Membership:
luthienathariel has entered the room.
VardaValar1: We currently have a roll showing 143.
VardaValar1: That's about to be cut, dropping those we can't contact.
VardaValar1: If that ever happens to you, that you can't contact, please remember the Forum!
VardaValar1: That way you don't require email or your own computer, just any library or free spot will do.
VardaValar1: My email is always open, we have AIM up on Sundays, or some form of live chat.

VardaValar1: A question for the guild:
VardaValar1: We've had an extension of -(TV) for our Tolkien-only members.
VardaValar1: I was considering changing it to -(T).
luthienathariel: I am all for it. I am not a Television set, after all :-)
ArPharazonV: TV always did seem confusing...
VardaValar1: It makes it a bit less, well, funny, and might make Luthien happier.
luthienathariel: YAY
ArPharazonV: though the idea of Tolkien TV is not so unappealing
VardaValar1: Tolkien-Valar was the original intention.
VardaValar1: and Luthien's Tolkien videos are great! ;-)
luthienathariel: ok, but then we could call the video's TV if you want
Eonwe Valar: Either one is fine to me.
luthienathariel: but not me
VardaValar1: So for 2009, having a -(T) ending does not mean a demotion or change in Honor, just a change in how we say it. : )
ArPharazonV: VoT?
VardaValar1: Since gaming +Tolkien members are -(V), it seems fitting to streamline TV the same way.
VardaValar1: So we will do that then. : )
luthienathariel: hannad :-)

VardaValar1: I'd like to recognize a few people for services in 2008, and take nominations to add more, as we have a great many who should be mentioned.
VardaValar1: On the 2008 Membership page, I've added a few of these: :-)
VardaValar1: Programmer Deluxe: this goes to Eonwe, for his work on the Games page despite the server problems and time problems and
VardaValar1: learning to program.
VardaValar1: Server King: this goes to Alatar and to AuSteinM for giving us reliable, ad-free web space and paying for it.
VardaValar1: Alatar pays for our domain name and handles most of the text area, of which we have tons.
VardaValar1: AuSteinM handles the graphics, those ol' space hogs.
VardaValar1: I should mention Arveleg here as well, for donating space for the Book List and Reviews page which he also renovated.
VardaValar1: Oh, back to Eonwe as well as Arveleg on programming: Search engines!
VardaValar1: Thank you again!
VardaValar1: Musician Extraordinaire goes to Glorfindel, for starting us on a new section for music and his original Tolkien-inspired compositions.
VardaValar1: LotRO High Warlord goes to Ancalagon.
VardaValar1: He organized the largest number of group runs, remembering the little guys stuck in the Epic Books, and the big guys sweating through the high instance.
VardaValar1: *instances.
VardaValar1: Pharazon, are you back?
ArPharazonV: yep
ArPharazonV: just saying my goodbyes in WoW but since it's windowed this is just one tab away and I tab every time I hear the new-message sound
VardaValar1: Transcripter Extraordinaire goes to Ar-Pharazon.
ArPharazonV: *bows*
VardaValar1: You've been sending the transcripts regularly and with good quality, without being prompted to help.
VardaValar1: You just saw a need and filled it.
ArPharazonV: I missed at least 8 weeks this year, I'm ashamed to admit, due to fieldwork, vacation and loss of internet
ArPharazonV: but when I can :-)
VardaValar1: Soldiers and those away from us read the News and the transcripts.
VardaValar1: Those are all reasonable reasons and you came right back as soon as you could.
VardaValar1: Special kudos to all of you for helping each other when the ones who usually do things can't.
VardaValar1: All of you are great about pitching in. :-)
VardaValar1: Special thanks without titles go to some of our members:
VardaValar1: For WoW Uldaman server: Elwing for keeping the Horde presence alive almost single-handedly, with only a little help from Eonwe and Varda.
VardaValar1: For WoW Lothar server, that Eonwe guy over there. : )
VardaValar1: For making and passing around free Glyphs that you made yourself, and keeping up the guild bank, and organizing the mass of junk in all those pages!
VardaValar1: Another thanks to Arveleg for his work on the Timeline project, and to all who check his work and help us make it as perfect as we can.
VardaValar1: With some of us doing projects and others pitching in with extras and polishing, we have a fine site.
VardaValar1: Thanks to all of you and your attitudes, this is an enduring place, and I'm proud to be with you.
VardaValar1: Happy New Year. : )
Eonwe Valar: *bow* Happy New Year :}
ArPharazonV: happy new year!
VardaValar1: Feel free to add your own nominations at any time, as we could not possibly have put in all those who should be recognized!
AriehnV: Happy new year
VardaValar1: Any other member news? :-)
ArPharazonV: well, I'd like to nominate Arien for all the effort she put in for the European WoW Valar branch
AriehnV: nope not at the moment :-)
VardaValar1: Yay Arien!
Eonwe Valar: Hmm, is there even a title that could fit all Varda does,.. hehe :}
VardaValar1: co-chair? : )
ArPharazonV: even if it didn't work out as well as we'd hoped in the end
VardaValar1: Eonwe is the other co-chair. : )
metarus208 has entered the room.
AriehnV: ah Pharzie :-D thanks
VardaValar1: If we can envision something great, we can work towards it. If we ever reach it, we have to set higher goals. : )
VardaValar1: Barahir, aiya! : )
metarus208: thnks....
ArPharazonV: and of course Varda for all her hard work chairing the meetings and leading the guild through all these games and all the other stuff she's done....
metarus208: Aiya to one and all ....
AriehnV: of course yes indeed and aiya Barahir
ArPharazonV: all the news, all the implemented stories
Eonwe Valar: Heya Barahir :}
VardaValar1: We were just patting each other on the back and feeling happy. : )
metarus208: *Pats one and all*
VardaValar1: All of you are free to email your own inclusions for the News! Some of you already do, but all of you are welcome to do so.
Eonwe Valar: I would also add all those who are able to make it to meetings regularly :} Without you it'd be me and Varda sitting in here alone, hehe :}
VardaValar1: And Barahir, who has been feeding us with long battle stories!
VardaValar1: Aye, co-chairs are nothing without people to work for!
metarus208: ah shucks, I still haven't even properly begun the second one.....
VardaValar1: Not that Eonwe is ever bad company. : )
Eonwe Valar: :}
VardaValar1: You got it started, and you did finish the first one.
VardaValar1: Having to write in English, not your native language, as several of you do, is very brave!
VardaValar1: This program shows that Barahir is typing, thus the pause. : )
metarus208: English is kinda ma native language .... cuz I don't how to write in Kannada which is my mother tongue :-) and I am rather weak in Tamil which is the regional language and I forgot most French , my elective language ....
VardaValar1: Seems like all that could scramble the words you think in. : )
metarus208: that happens when I am talking to ma friends actually ....
AriehnV: and i ve been bilingual since i was a kid at school .. my sister started learning in higher scoul and i .. a year younger *helped* her checking vocabularu7
VardaValar1: Happens here with Tex-Mex.
AriehnV: but guess who ended up learning :
AriehnV: them :-D
VardaValar1: hehe Arien
VardaValar1: Sometimes it seems as if teaching makes a person learn better than the student does.
metarus208: that's what ma neighbour used to say ....
VardaValar1: : )
top

VardaValar1: On to Web:
VardaValar1: While trying to figure out who was active and could be included for 2009,
VardaValar1: I made some lists and put some at the bottom of the 2008 Membership page, some might be interesting.
VardaValar1: Just seeing how much work we did on the Tolkien Site was startling.
VardaValar1: It ws more consistent than I realized.
VardaValar1: *was
VardaValar1: Jan: Alasse-(TV) stories 2; Jay-(friend) stories 4; Branwyn-(TV) stories 1
VardaValar1: Feb: Glorfindel-(V) music 2; Franco Manni-(TV) article 1; Branwyn-(TV) stories 22.5, poetry 1. Elwing-(V) art 1; Amaranth-(V) article 1.
VardaValar1: March: Branwyn-(V) stories 11. DeepGroove-(TV) art 1. Jay-(friend) stories 2. Elwing-(V) story revision 1. Cassia-(TV) and Siobhan-(TV) story 1.
ArPharazonV: 22 and a half?
ArPharazonV: impressive
VardaValar1: heeh
VardaValar1: The half was because one story worked with another and both were drabbles, so they were put on the same page. : )
VardaValar1: Cool that you caught that!
ArPharazonV: so why isn't there another half in there? :-)
VardaValar1: A lot of different people put in stuff, but it comes out to a nice batch.
VardaValar1: heh
VardaValar1: April: StarLight-(TV) story 1. Amaranth-(V) article 1. Arien-(Valar) story 1. DeepGroove-(TV) art 1.
VardaValar1: May: Cassia-(TV) story 1. Elwing-(V) story 1.
VardaValar1: June: CuChullaine O'Reilly-(friend) article 1. Jay-(friend) story 1.
VardaValar1: July: DeepGroove-(TV) art 2. Arveleg-(V) moved the Book List and Reviews site to a new server. Menelvagor-(Valar) art/photos are online but need links! Varda-(Valar) Bibliography How-to.
VardaValar1: Menelvagor, sorry about that, good buddy, and I'll try to fix your Art cave soon!
VardaValar1: I know you read these transcripts when you miss. : )
VardaValar1: Aug: Nightwing-(friend) story chapter 1. Jay-(friend) story 2. DeepGroove-(TV) art 1.
VardaValar1: Sept: Luthien-(TV) poem translated to Sindarin 1.
VardaValar1: That's when you joined, Luthien. : )
VardaValar1: Good timing, as that was the only otherwise dry month!
VardaValar1: Oct: Luthien-(TV) art tons of it in her new section. Jay-(friend) story 2. Cassia-(TV), Siobhan-(TV) and Katie stories 2. Arien-(Valar) article.
VardaValar1: Nov: Jay-(friend) stories 4.
VardaValar1: Dec: Varda articles 7. Luthien-(TV) original Sindarin and English poem 1. Fingolfin-(TV) article 1. DeepGroove-(TV) art 2. Maedhros-(V) art 1.
VardaValar1: This last year, we were heavy on stories and surprisingly on art, with the new music additions.
VardaValar1: We need more articles, as that is our main thing, but these other goodies are just wonderful to have!
VardaValar1: Some of those where it says article 1 sounds small, but the thing may go on for pages! :-)
VardaValar1: Others are bare mentions, needing more input.
VardaValar1: The Tolkien Site needs you!
VardaValar1: Be sure your own character is represented as well as you would like. : )
VardaValar1: or others that you are fond of.
VardaValar1: or at least cheer on people working at it!
VardaValar1: We also have new places in the Forum to make comments on the Tolkien Site.
ArPharazonV: *cheers*
VardaValar1: Also, a person can add their work there, if they don't mind people seeing it raw.
metarus208: that would be me...
VardaValar1: Some folks are shy about sending in stuff by email.
ArPharazonV: and there are some vague plans in motion to give my Second Age project a boost but as we know, none of my plans are sure to stay
VardaValar1: I am a ghost-writer by trade, and editor, and am happy to help.
metarus208: what's that?
VardaValar1: Phar, put them on paper and then they are sure.
VardaValar1: You aren't alone and can have help. Just get it going! : )
VardaValar1: A ghost-writer helps a person write something so it looks good, and all the credit goes to the other person. The ghost-writer is invisible.
ArPharazonV: it's more the detailed reading and memorizing the trivia that bear relevance, but I think I may have a solution for that.. I'm considering buying a few stacks of those little post-it/bookmark things that you put on the tops of the pages of your books
metarus208: no ... I meant what's Phar's Second Age Project?
VardaValar1: Now and then someone gives me credit, which helps boost sales. : )
ArPharazonV: I'm trying to squeeze out every detail from the books concerning Numenor and the rest of the Second Age and write/expand a number of articles on them as I go along
VardaValar1: Or rip off pieces of notebook paper and put them in the book. : )
metarus208: oh...nice
ArPharazonV: maybe even write an extensive essay on the Age as a whole
VardaValar1: Try sending in some of those articles as you get started, so they are smaller chunks. Less scary.
ArPharazonV: well, Varda, the problem is, I'm going to need a *lot* of them, and they'll be sticking in there for a long time as I work my way through the books
VardaValar1: hehe - ok
VardaValar1: I have a lot of those loose bookmarks. Makes the bookshelf look a bit furry. : )
ArPharazonV: the plan is mostly to first read, and then go back and write the articles based on the information at the bookmarks
VardaValar1: That can work quite well.
ArPharazonV: allows for an extensive re-read of all Tolkien's work and only focusing on the writing later
ArPharazonV: I'm also planning on buying Letters if I can, who knows what information I may gleam
VardaValar1: Jot down a few notes now and then, kind of a fast outline that you change as you go along.
VardaValar1: Letters is loaded with stuff. I recommend it highly.
ArPharazonV: I'm thinking of numbering the bookmarks and making a reference database on topics :-)
metarus208: that' inventve
metarus208: sry... inventive
ArPharazonV: well, it's going to be huge, of course, and I want to make sure I keep an overview
VardaValar1: Don't let it get in the way of writing. But it sounds like a good idea.
ArPharazonV: even though the initial wave of articles will perhaps be low, the information to go through and to keep track of will be immense
VardaValar1: Just doing the Sil alone would be good practice, and help see what we are calling canon against all the other info.
ArPharazonV: if I just say to myself "Aha, that's where it is, I'll come back to it when I start writing" I'll have lost the first bits when I get to the end
VardaValar1: Quite right.
ArPharazonV: this'll just be the Second Age, really, so I assume you mean the Akallabeth and the first parts of the Rings of Power?
VardaValar1: The relevant parts, aye.
ArPharazonV: I'll be reading through the whole thing though
ArPharazonV: you never know what vague reference you might find in a hidden corner
ArPharazonV: it'll be easy this way to keep track of book-references for said articles as well
VardaValar1: That's just like JRRT and Christopher, aye. : )
VardaValar1: One reason for our Site is to bring all those bits into one spot.
ArPharazonV: I was always planning on making myself a specialist in Numenor, this seems the perfect opportunity
VardaValar1: Aye : )
ArPharazonV: and I'll be scouring the books for everything else of the Second Age too
metarus208: go Phar!
ArPharazonV: especially the "wild men" of Middle-Earth's Dark Age
VardaValar1: In between WoW...
ArPharazonV: and hopefully some bits of the Nazgul because I'm really curious about those
ArPharazonV: their origins at least
VardaValar1: Scheduling and getting into a habit of writing at that time can help.
metarus208: we never really learn their true names ,do we?
ArPharazonV: we'll see what time I can spare, as far as my creative juices go, this will get my full priority
VardaValar1: No we don't. We have hints on some. We do know that the second in command is Khamul.
ArPharazonV: and maybe the forum rp ;-)
ArPharazonV: yep
ArPharazonV: UT, I think?
metarus208: Khamul the Easterling or some such
ArPharazonV: is nothing said in the Letters? I never read those before
Eonwe Valar: When I was reading through "Of the Rings of Power" it seemed to me the two Black Numenoreans mentioned there, Herumor and Fuinur, were likely to be two of the three Black NUmenoreans who became Nazgul.
VardaValar1: The Letters bounce all over the place, and sometimes he gets lost, as is natural.
VardaValar1: Yes.
VardaValar1: It was not a certain thing, as Khamul was, however.
VardaValar1: They are good possibilities.
ArPharazonV: even an "indication" can be mentioned in an article
ArPharazonV: as long as you put it down as such
VardaValar1: JRRT liked to make things a bit vague, to be more like a history, and to give clues.
VardaValar1: Right, Phar!
metarus208: and that make our work just a little bit harder
VardaValar1: Such things can make your article more interesting, makes the reader think. : )
VardaValar1: He also seems to skew it according to the source. Nicely done.
ArPharazonV: hehe
top

VardaValar1: Gaming:
ArPharazonV: still, the Rings of Power is not the only text that covers black numenoreans
VardaValar1: Aye, Phar.
VardaValar1: What games did we play this week besides WoW or LotRO?
ArPharazonV: I know that the Lotr Appendices have a great deal about the history of Umbar and the Black Numenoreans living there, and will be making full use of it
ArPharazonV: sorry, moving on :-)
ArPharazonV: I've played some Rayman, but hit a snag
VardaValar1: Fladrif's root sticking up out of the water?
metarus208: Only Rome:TotalWar here
metarus208: hehe...
Bior the Ythling: Madden 2009 and Left 4 Dead here
ArPharazonV: played in XP it varies in speed a bit, I've read of an option to disable it but the file used does not seem to have that configuration option
VardaValar1: Thanks
ArPharazonV: makes it practically impossible to get past some timed bits, and considering you can only save about every 3 levels I stopped retrying until it's fixed
VardaValar1: Reviews of your games are welcome. Eonwe takes them for the Games page. : )
Eonwe Valar: Aye :}
VardaValar1: ouch Phar
VardaValar1: Glitches like that are good to mention in reviews as caveats, also.
ArPharazonV: I asked Fladrif to look at a few options for it but he might have lost them or not have had time, but I'm sure we'll fix it eventually
ArPharazonV: well, it's an old dos platform game
ArPharazonV: I remember playing it easily on W95, but on XP it seems a bit odd
ArPharazonV: needs a few patches and a dos-emulator
VardaValar1: Some emulators are pretty decent.
ArPharazonV: and somewhere in those options lies the key
ArPharazonV: I'm using Dosbox, Fladrif configured it for me since he knows it best, and I hardly caught a thing he did, went so smoothly
ArPharazonV: so I'm hoping he has an answer
VardaValar1: Is the ent sleeping again? : )
ArPharazonV: he's away, at any case
ArPharazonV: I could try inviting him
ArPharazonV: but I assume you did too
ArPharazonV: you invite whole lists, right? [Note: right]
Eonwe Valar: Fladrif is in here :}
ArPharazonV: oh, he is!
ArPharazonV: shows what I know
VardaValar1: : )
ArPharazonV: and how active he's been :-)
Eonwe Valar: Could see the tree for the forest? :}
VardaValar1: hehe
Eonwe Valar: *Couldn't
ArPharazonV: apparently :-)
ArPharazonV: *pokes the ent*
metarus208: hehehe...
VardaValar1: On to WoW
VardaValar1: Arien, would you like to tell about WoW Europe, especially if there were people active that we don't see here, for the 2009 Membership.
AriehnV: right wow europe
AriehnV: sorry late lazy lol
VardaValar1: Aye, that place. : )
AriehnV: no seriously i have been levelling my druid on to 72 hurray on wednesday and thursday morning
VardaValar1: Nice!
VardaValar1: Which server?
AriehnV: Argent Dawn :-)
ArPharazonV: grats :-)
VardaValar1: *Is impressed*
ArPharazonV: no wonder I don't see you
AriehnV: Calaron knows since we met
ArPharazonV: I'm not online in the mornings!
AriehnV: aye during the day i am usually on Auchindoun but sometimes befofre work when i am on lates or on days off i share play time between servers
AriehnV: i have to admit it depends a bit on how i feel for which class or faction that day
ArPharazonV: hmhm
ArPharazonV: still not getting enough of the druid myself :-)
VardaValar1: Have you seen Valandil, Helm, Galadriel, or others?
VardaValar1: Calaron=Menelvagor, so that's one. And he should be here. : ) [Note: wrong, Calaron=Pharazon]
AriehnV: Helm is still fighting his withdrawal symptoms since he is netless since his move four weeks back
VardaValar1: We need him to talk rp. ;-)
VardaValar1: ouch!
ArPharazonV: I'm what?
AriehnV: but that will be mended tomorrow or so he hopes
VardaValar1: They are slow setting up his internet!
AriehnV: then he gets Broadbank
ArPharazonV: I'm Calaron
ArPharazonV: not Menel :-)
VardaValar1: heh - ok
VardaValar1: Seen Menel?
VardaValar1: *drinks more caffeinated tea*
ArPharazonV: hm... don't recall doing so this week
ArPharazonV: I know that somewhere in the past few weeks I did see both Valandil and Menel
VardaValar1: Good to hear! Any others?
ArPharazonV: if I do so again, I shall ask, but I doubt either wants to be dropped
VardaValar1: Not sure Galadriel knows how to join up with you.
ArPharazonV: I'm not sure meeting Galadriel
ArPharazonV: might not be best to rely on us to check for Gala's activity
VardaValar1: If they are active, that's good enough. I just can't check from here. : )
ArPharazonV: ...and I have no idea what sentence I just meant
VardaValar1: I'm not. But it would be fun to get back with Galadriel.
ArPharazonV: was probably that I'm not sure how to meet Galadriel :-)
VardaValar1: One of the people I met first.
VardaValar1: Pallando seems to be having trouble getting online right now.
VardaValar1: Just saw him pop in and out of existence. : )
ArPharazonV: he just asked for an invite
ArPharazonV: done
VardaValar1: Thanks. Two of us at once inviting can crash someone.
pallandovalar has entered the room.
pallandovalar: aiya
metarus208: Aiya
VardaValar1: Aiya Pallando!
ArPharazonV: Aiya :-)
VardaValar1: Your quote on AIM sounds like Valar chat. : )
VardaValar1: We are in gaming. Are you able to game? Eve Online? Solitaire? Pong? : )
pallandovalar: Eve, sorta. I'm poking around in WoS sometimes too.
VardaValar1: Ah cool! Anyone else still in Well of Souls? I lost it last computer format.
pallandovalar: Someday I'll go and get new keys for SC cause I lost mine, and I can play that.
pallandovalar: not that I know of. I'm stupid busy and my weekends keep getting messed with.
VardaValar1: Eowyn's SC/BW was eaten horribly by the DVD drive, sounded like a mousetrap going off.
ArPharazonV: probably same as Varda though it may still be on the reserved "old" part of my harddisk
pallandovalar: So I haven't been even thinking of trying to coordinate.
VardaValar1: Thank you for spending precious time here with us!
VardaValar1: Are you on leave or out?
pallandovalar: Oh, the aim quote is from George Washington's "Rules of Civility & Decent Behavior in Company and Conversation".
VardaValar1: Thank you. He writes well. : )
VardaValar1: On to WoW Lothar. Eonwe, go ahead.
pallandovalar: Weekends I have liberty, but I'm just busy studying or doing whatever. Haven't seriously gamed in a month.
VardaValar1: "seriously gamed" is an interesting way to say it. : ) We know what you mean.
metarus208: oxymoron
VardaValar1: Right, Barahir. : )
Bior the Ythling: Hm, it is an occupation for some.
VardaValar1: Eonwe, go ahead. Don't let us stop you. : )
Eonwe Valar: This week saw me finishing off my quests in Storm Peaks, and saw Sauron working there. We got together to take on Sirana Thursday night.
ArPharazonV: that the harpy?
Eonwe Valar: My Dwarf Paladin who's on his way up found he can solo a bit of Maraudon and Zul'Farrak, and got to 49 for his efforts.
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
VardaValar1: Another paladin? Cool. : )
Eonwe Valar: My Dwarf Paladin is also my scribe, so once he hit 58 I can get to Outland and start getting my Inscription up another tier.
VardaValar1: Will the glyph break if we remove it?
Eonwe Valar: yes
ArPharazonV: when you replace it, I think, as gems
Eonwe Valar: Glyphs are like gems in that respect.
VardaValar1: No swapping back and forth for different places then. Not like LotrO traits.
Eonwe Valar: Unfortunately, he's my skinner, not my herbalist, so it means my Priest will have to get back to work once I use up the Outland pigments he's already made.
VardaValar1: *sudden urge to hop on my flower picker*
Eonwe Valar: That's all I have from Lothar.
VardaValar1: Thank you, Eonwe. : )
VardaValar1: I've been on Lothar a bit this week too, as have some other family members. Just missing you. Glad you saw Sauron!
VardaValar1: I've also been back with the Horde, running the priest there a bit. [Note: WoW Uldaman server]
VardaValar1: *ducks from all the Alliance in the channel*
ArPharazonV: for Bolvar! *charges*
VardaValar1: *bubbles and prays*
VardaValar1: Tank, tank!
VardaValar1: On to LotRO, a safer subject. : )
VardaValar1: We were delighted to have Caranthir and Elladan join us this week!
Bior the Ythling: :-)
VardaValar1: Would you like to tell a few first impressions?
ArPharazonV: well, it's only fitting that Pharazon would be as fanatic as Daelin Proudmoore or, more recently, king Wrynn... in protecting the interests of humanity at least
VardaValar1: (Priest used to be human, if that counts?)
ArPharazonV: hmm...
Eonwe Valar: Wrynn has a little more reason methinks, as his experience with the Horde is a bit more recent.
ArPharazonV: doesn't that go for many of the Forsaken?
VardaValar1: (all)
ArPharazonV: nah, there were Elves from Quel'Thalas
ArPharazonV: whose descendants are now Horde, so...
VardaValar1: Bob their ears, just a bit tall, can't tell them apart.
Bior the Ythling: So far it has been a very interesting experience. I'm enjoying the story line and it seems like I don't have to spend hours to have fun with it. I rolled a hobbit minstrel and have enjoyed it so far. The number of quests is a bit overwhelming, but its been very fun so far.
VardaValar1: It could have been called Everquest, aye. : )
Bior the Ythling: The only thing I've had a problem with is the size of the map. :P It seems like I spend 3/4 of my time running.
VardaValar1: Grab resources along the way. The running can be where you make your money.
Bior the Ythling: I went historian and it seems like most of my materials are from killing mobs. At least I haven't found anything I can gather.
VardaValar1: You have to explore ruins.
VardaValar1: Turn on your tracker.
Bior the Ythling: I haven't really looked into it much. I was too busy slaying frogs. :-D
VardaValar1: The repops are slow.
VardaValar1: heheehe
VardaValar1: Scholars have to run around and around in the ruins, like archeologists.
ArPharazonV: not that I'm not interested in hearing LotRO experiences, but I shall have to read it later on the site
VardaValar1: You really start noticing where they are, and be glad they decided to let us have the tracker at last!
AriehnV: i am afraid i feel like running upstairs :-(
VardaValar1: You make us feel the same way with WoW, so it's fair. : )
AriehnV: early start tomorrow
VardaValar1: and poor Luthien, who doesn't play.
VardaValar1: Arien, you do play LotRO.
ArPharazonV: I need to get up in 7 hours and I've been quite ill this weekend (though now improving) so if I do want to go to college tomorrow I should not miss too much sleep
AriehnV: yep sometimes when the servers are down
AriehnV: or just before work in the morning when i have caught u guys sometimes ;-)

VardaValar1: On to Tolkien:
ArPharazonV: saving and sending transcript
VardaValar1: Any suggestions to toss over your shoulders as you leave? : )
VardaValar1: Sons of Feanor, for one.
ArPharazonV: did the Nazgul have wings? ....wait
VardaValar1: Flappy clothing!
ArPharazonV: and flying mounts, of course
VardaValar1: The Feanorians tend to be seen as bad guys.
VardaValar1: But they must have had good points.
VardaValar1: They hunted a lot with Orome, and that's how Huan came to them.
metarus208: Maedhros and Maglor took care of Elrond and Elros ...
Bior the Ythling: I should get going. I have to study for some finals that I missed due to stomach virus. Good luck with the rest of the meeting.
VardaValar1: Aye, after destroying their home and trying to kill and rob their parents.
ArPharazonV (5:39:46 PM): saved  [Note: times in CST. Add one hour for EST.]
VardaValar1 (5:39:50 PM): Namarie those leaving. Thanks for coming!
Bior the Ythling (5:39:54 PM): Namarie
ArPharazonV (5:39:59 PM): ...saved transcript, that is
metarus208 (5:39:59 PM): Farewell, Good luck and Namarie ...Bior
Bior the Ythling (5:40:06 PM) has left the room.
AriehnV (5:40:10 PM): Namarie :-) and i loock forward to reading up on this :-)
VardaValar1 (5:40:19 PM): Bior aka Caranthir
VardaValar1 (5:40:32 PM): I figure we might as well put it to bed too, actually.
metarus208 (5:40:46 PM): well, the sons of Feanor did a hundredth part Good against their evil acts .....
ArPharazonV (5:41:13 PM): were they in the Arnoediad?
AriehnV (5:41:21 PM) has left the room.
metarus208 (5:41:32 PM): yes .... they were all wounded but escaped alive
VardaValar1 (5:41:59 PM): At least they weren't painted completely black. Made them more realistic.
ArPharazonV (5:42:58 PM): pff, so Morgoth and Sauron weren't realistic?
VardaValar1 (5:43:12 PM): They also had good points.
metarus208 (5:43:19 PM): what?
Eonwe Valar (5:43:19 PM): Some people would say no.
Eonwe Valar (5:43:29 PM): I'm not one of them, but some people would :}
VardaValar1 (5:43:29 PM): Melkor was at first the brother of Manwe in the mind of Eru, but fell.
VardaValar1 (5:43:53 PM): Sauron had courage, which Melkor lacked, and great crafting knowledge from working with Aule.
ArPharazonV (5:43:59 PM): but eh, I'm not one to talk about people not having good points
metarus208 (5:44:10 PM): why?
ArPharazonV (5:44:16 PM): *points at name*
metarus208 (5:44:37 PM): oh .... understood oh Golden One!
ArPharazonV (5:44:43 PM): *grin*
VardaValar1 (5:44:58 PM): Pharazon freed Middle-earth of Sauron with his great fleet.
ArPharazonV (5:44:58 PM): Pharazon wasn't the nicest guy, and I've been defending his good points in these meetings from time to time
ArPharazonV (5:45:06 PM): see? there's one!
VardaValar1 (5:45:19 PM): Few could have defended themselves from Sauron's words and knowledge.
metarus208 (5:45:22 PM): built that extra-cute Globe near Umbar .....
Eonwe Valar (5:45:25 PM): Aye, Pharazon freed Middle-Earth to serve him. What a great guy :}
ArPharazonV (5:45:45 PM): can say a lot about Pharazon, but he never worked against the wishes of (the most of) his people :)
metarus208 (5:46:01 PM): only the Valar....
ArPharazonV (5:46:31 PM): his loyalty was to his Kingdom and his people and he thought that war against the Valar would bring them wealth and, more important, immortality
VardaValar1 (5:46:33 PM): The Faithful, a minority, as most tried to survive.
VardaValar1 (5:46:45 PM): and he was starting to feel his years.
metarus208 (5:46:46 PM): Anyways guys .... i gotta go ....its almost dawn and College beckons
Eonwe Valar (5:46:52 PM): HIs loyalty was to himself :}
ArPharazonV (5:46:58 PM): he couldn't have known it would fail so miserably... at least, the voices that told him so didn't get through so much
Eonwe Valar (5:47:06 PM): Sleep well Barahir :}
ArPharazonV (5:47:10 PM): pch
metarus208 (5:47:22 PM): Actually I am going to colege in an hour ....
VardaValar1 (5:47:33 PM): o man.
Eonwe Valar (5:47:34 PM): Happy day at college :}
VardaValar1 (5:47:46 PM): Namarie, Barahir!
ArPharazonV (5:48:03 PM): Namarie Barahir!
ArPharazonV (5:48:06 PM): and everyone else for that matter
metarus208 (5:48:07 PM): Sry to be elaving in the middle of Tolkien and all ..... but today I am recieving my first Sem Hall Ticket and its very important ....
ArPharazonV (5:48:09 PM): sent the transcript
fladrifv (5:48:15 PM): *an ent awakes sleepely*
VardaValar1 (5:48:32 PM): No worries. : )
ArPharazonV (5:48:35 PM): Flad! Why do always come back when I'm leaving? ;)
ArPharazonV (5:48:42 PM): *do you
fladrifv (5:48:44 PM): back?
ArPharazonV (5:48:48 PM): from sleep
ArPharazonV (5:48:50 PM): from away
ArPharazonV (5:48:52 PM): whatever
metarus208 (5:49:03 PM): ... oh hi there Fladrif ... same here as what Phar said ....
fladrifv (5:49:10 PM): I just dozed for a couple of secconds you hasty human
ArPharazonV (5:49:16 PM): ent-seconds, I'm sure!
fladrifv (5:49:41 PM): aye that would indee be a few hours human time
ArPharazonV (5:49:49 PM): anyway
metarus208 (5:49:50 PM): .... So good night to one and all and Namarie!
ArPharazonV (5:49:55 PM): I'm off too
ArPharazonV (5:50:00 PM): Namarie all
fladrifv (5:50:03 PM): namarie both of you!

Eonwe Valar (5:50:14 PM): Take care, sleep well to those leaving to sleep, and goody day to those off to college :}
VardaValar1 (5:50:32 PM): I think I'll take my leave as well. : )
VardaValar1 (5:50:41 PM): Namarie, good folk. : )
metarus208 (5:50:45 PM) has left the room.
Eonwe Valar (5:50:58 PM): Bang the gavel first or themeeting will never end! :}
ArPharazonV (5:51:04 PM) has left the room.
VardaValar1 (5:51:14 PM): *bangs gavel*

VardaValar1 (5:51:23 PM): On to After-meeting! : )
Eonwe Valar (5:51:42 PM): I guess most of the active ones have head off at this point anyway.. Anyone still here and focused on the meeting? :}
VardaValar1 (5:52:06 PM): Not really, lot of talking in the room in rl now. :-)
VardaValar1 (5:52:35 PM): Luthien needs someone to let her know when we start Tolkien, but it didn't look as if it had much hope, so I didn't.
VardaValar1 (5:52:44 PM): but it could be a topic for another time. : )
Eonwe Valar (5:53:17 PM): I was going to suggest we pick on Aredhel for Tolkien chat :}
VardaValar1 (5:53:18 PM): Finally saved! yay
Eonwe Valar (5:53:22 PM): Congrats :}
pallandovalar (5:53:30 PM): Sorry, homework distracted me. :(
VardaValar1 (5:53:34 PM): Cool, we have a new LotRO member of that name.
VardaValar1 (5:53:53 PM): Quite alright. A common problem here, as we have a lot of good students. : )
pallandovalar (5:53:55 PM): One minute I'm saying hi, look down to my homework and then the meeting's over.
VardaValar1 (5:54:02 PM): hehe
VardaValar1 (5:54:13 PM): Two hour minute. : )
Eonwe Valar (5:54:15 PM): Doing a bit of research for the Rp prompted that idea. Seems in all our picking on the Noldor, we didn't pick on her much if at all :}
pallandovalar (5:54:39 PM): nooo..only..half an hour.
pallandovalar (5:54:43 PM): I came in late.
VardaValar1 (5:54:46 PM): She didn't seem to be mentioned much on the killing end.
VardaValar1 (5:55:01 PM): For you, aye. Two hours for us. : )
VardaValar1 (5:55:21 PM): She's the first elf mentioned as riding a horse, a very good rider.
Eonwe Valar (5:55:33 PM): Aye, but she's just as proud and arrogant as the rest of them :}
VardaValar1 (5:55:42 PM): I was trying to figure out if the elves had them in Middle-earth for the trip West with Orome.
VardaValar1 (5:55:55 PM): *cough* Galadriel *cough*
pallandovalar (5:56:46 PM): Also, I'm doing this kind of distance-reading-thing. Friend and I are reading the Silm (very, very slowly) and then writing to each other about it, along with anything else.
VardaValar1 (5:56:49 PM): The suggestion is that the elves had horses. But when?
Eonwe Valar (5:56:59 PM): Probably wouldn't be enough horses for the entire host of the Eldar.
VardaValar1 (5:57:09 PM): What a neat thing! A Sil pen-pal!
Eonwe Valar (5:57:14 PM): Eol could ride a horse, apparently. Doesn't seem he'd get that from the Noldor.
VardaValar1 (5:57:56 PM): I figure Nahar being along with a number of elven horses could bring about the Mearas. : )
Eonwe Valar (5:58:11 PM): hehe
pallandovalar (5:58:12 PM): Course, we came up with this idea, oh..round september..and so far we've read the ainulindale..
VardaValar1 (5:58:16 PM): They apparently ran wild, like Felarof.
pallandovalar (5:58:20 PM): /me coughs
VardaValar1 (5:58:41 PM): Then you actually did it, not just talk about it. Grats. :-)
VardaValar1 (5:59:08 PM): Ok, I really should go. For some reason my family likes to eat supper.
VardaValar1 (5:59:18 PM): Take care all!
pallandovalar (5:59:30 PM): I've had to go without for like 4 of the past 10 meals I supposedly could have had. Weaklings.
VardaValar1 (5:59:47 PM): hehe
Eonwe Valar (6:00:10 PM): :}
VardaValar1 (6:00:13 PM): and my eyes are falling out from looking at the computer. : )
Eonwe Valar (6:00:16 PM): Bon apetit Varda :}
VardaValar1 (6:00:22 PM): weakling eyes  : )
VardaValar1 (6:00:52 PM): Trying to save this transcript. Saves one time, not another. Hope they fix it.
