VardaValar1 (2:28:03 PM): Aiya!
VardaValar1 (2:28:37 PM): Did you put karakedi25 on the screen name or the nickname?
VardaValar1 (2:28:42 PM): Screen name should show up.
karakedi25 (2:28:59 PM): it's my screen name, in case I want to interact in other groups.
VardaValar1 (2:29:18 PM): Then you will display that.
karakedi25 (2:29:36 PM): I did set Indis as my nickname, for whatever good it does
karakedi25 (2:30:29 PM) has left the room.
VardaValar1 (2:30:30 PM): We can ask during the meeting.
karakedi25 (3:06:43 PM) has entered the room.
ArPharazonV (3:56:21 PM) has entered the room.
VardaValar1 (4:02:23 PM): Aiya Phar!
ArPharazonV (4:02:42 PM): aiya!
ArPharazonV (4:02:50 PM): hunting some eggs in Kharanos atm
ArPharazonV (4:02:56 PM): (well, camping eggs is more like it)
karakedi25 (4:03:23 PM): Aiye! (Indis-V here)
VardaValar1 (4:03:38 PM): WoW-ite, our Phar. : )
ArPharazonV (4:03:46 PM): :)
VardaValar1 (4:03:50 PM): Good luck scrambling those eggs!
ArPharazonV (4:04:00 PM): they're chocolate!
karakedi25 (4:04:02 PM): That's a WoW place/quest?
karakedi25 (4:04:06 PM): oooh chocolate!
ArPharazonV (4:04:12 PM): WoW holiday
ArPharazonV (4:04:21 PM): find eggs, loot them, get stuff
ArPharazonV (4:04:29 PM): sometimes, do stuff with the stuff
ArPharazonV (4:04:37 PM): get achievements
ArPharazonV (4:04:40 PM): go home :)
VardaValar1 (4:04:42 PM): *urge to pull up WoW* hehe
karakedi25 (4:04:43 PM): like LotRO's tokens exchanged for gift boxes?
VardaValar1 (4:06:12 PM): We kill things in LotRO during the 2 year anniversary this week, and some drop tokens we exchange for gift boxes.
ArPharazonV (4:06:31 PM): sounds similar
karakedi25 (4:06:31 PM): the contents of which vary from pedestrian to rather good
arwenv1 (4:06:32 PM) has been invited.
mjkeenan1234 (4:06:32 PM) has been invited.
gelondil2 (4:06:50 PM) has been invited.
narthais (4:06:50 PM) has been invited.
austeinm (4:07:10 PM) has been invited
.
VardaValar1 (4:08:27 PM): Fladrif still on his Death Knight?
ArPharazonV (4:09:32 PM): aye, I joined him with my own for a few minutes last night, saw him ding 60
ArPharazonV (4:09:49 PM): but I was too far behind myself, he'd been questing a bit while mine was doing nothing
VardaValar1 (4:10:01 PM): Slacker. : )
ArPharazonV (4:10:04 PM): so when Noblegarden had started and we were pretty divided...
ArPharazonV (4:10:11 PM): we decided to split up and let me hunt eggs
ArPharazonV (4:10:57 PM): oh, and got my motorbike this afternoon ;)
VardaValar1 (4:11:08 PM): Dark out, or you'd be on it? : )
VardaValar1 (4:11:20 PM): Congrats on the wheels!
ArPharazonV (4:12:39 PM): 13500 gold in total, not bad
VardaValar1 (4:12:50 PM): Ah, in-game motorbike.
karakedi25 (4:13:05 PM): sounds like an anachronism in WoW
ArPharazonV (4:13:09 PM): yah :)
ArPharazonV (4:13:14 PM): well
ArPharazonV (4:13:16 PM): there's guns
ArPharazonV (4:13:17 PM): and cannons
ArPharazonV (4:13:20 PM): and tanks
ArPharazonV (4:13:24 PM): and helicopters
VardaValar1 (4:13:24 PM): WoW is solidly loaded with mixed time stuff.
ArPharazonV (4:13:27 PM): and even a spaceship
karakedi25 (4:13:35 PM): hmmm
ArPharazonV (4:13:38 PM): it's a bit anachronic (diachronic?) in some respects
karakedi25 (4:13:44 PM): anachronistic
VardaValar1 (4:13:44 PM): Anachronistic.
ArPharazonV (4:13:57 PM): anachronistic, right
karakedi25 (4:13:59 PM): diachronic means over time, as in historical linguistics
karakedi25 (4:14:11 PM): synchronic is at a single time
VardaValar1 (4:15:04 PM): So LotRO is diachronic? We follow the Fellowship over time.
karakedi25 (4:15:33 PM): yes, in a way, though over a limited period of time (until the end of the War of the Ring, presumably)
VardaValar1 (4:16:10 PM): There is some talk that if it remains profitable, they could continue after the War of the Ring into Harad and run into the Blue Wizard cults.
VardaValar1 (4:16:24 PM): Or maybe add them during, since they were going at the same time.
karakedi25 (4:16:31 PM): from a language point of view, it's less than a year, so there would be too few language changes to have a history, so generally it would be synchronic
karakedi25 (4:16:44 PM): that would be interesting, but wildly speculative
VardaValar1 (4:16:44 PM): Ok, synchronic it is.
VardaValar1 (4:16:50 PM): True.
VardaValar1 (4:17:16 PM): Forochel has more to work with, but an awful lot of speculation.
karakedi25 (4:17:18 PM): besides, in the Fourth Age, there wouldn't be many elves around
ArPharazonV (4:17:24 PM): synchronic/diachronic is language-based?
karakedi25 (4:17:26 PM): I like what they did with Forochel
karakedi25 (4:17:34 PM): I know them from linguistics
VardaValar1 (4:18:02 PM): Arien says she'll be coming in shortly.
karakedi25 (4:18:16 PM): figuring out the Finnish place names was fun
VardaValar1 (4:18:21 PM): AriehnV: aiya i am coming asap still in st class quest rogue
VardaValar1 (4:19:02 PM): You still have that somewhere in notes? That could go on the Forum under LotRO.
ArPharazonV (4:19:03 PM): (st is sunken temple, by the way)
VardaValar1 (4:19:08 PM): Thanks, Phar. : )
ArPharazonV (4:19:39 PM): hey, useful for the non-wowers ;)
VardaValar1 (4:20:00 PM): Right!
VardaValar1 (4:20:21 PM): Drag Flad in here when you get a chance. : )  He needs to meet Indis!
ArPharazonV (4:20:59 PM): not online in WoW, MSN or AIM that I can tell
ArPharazonV (4:21:12 PM): can tell his girlfriend on MSN (she's away though) to send him in if you like?
VardaValar1 (4:21:13 PM): Thanks for checking.
VardaValar1 (4:21:40 PM): Might mention we'd like to see him, nothing pushy. : )
ArPharazonV (4:25:58 PM): he should be coming to join us soon
VardaValar1 (4:26:39 PM): Very good.
VardaValar1 (4:30:29 PM): Indis is trying an experiment on her name, going to disconnect and try it.
karakedi25 (4:31:07 PM): back as one name or another, I hope
karakedi25 (4:31:14 PM) has left the room.
VardaValar1 (4:34:37 PM): AriehnV: lol i told them to kiill all dragons before rani but they were too fast haaha
AriehnV: thank goodnes our healer has an ankh grin
Fladrifv (4:34:46 PM) has entered the room.
VardaValar1 (4:34:57 PM): Fladrif, aiya!
Fladrifv (4:35:05 PM): Aiya
ArPharazonV (4:35:07 PM): aiya Flad :)
Fladrifv (4:35:09 PM): where is everyone?
VardaValar1 (4:35:19 PM): Arien is coming, so is Indis
VardaValar1 (4:35:23 PM): Good question
ArPharazonV (4:35:43 PM): I think the age of the internet has seen its best years *nod*
Fladrifv (4:36:19 PM): *been carying around trees whole day* so yes
VardaValar1 (4:37:17 PM): indisv: OK, I'm in the aol site and have the Valar group, but I can't chat in a group from it
VardaValar1: Aiya!
indisv: and aim won't let me make a new screen name in the aim program
Fladrifv (4:38:24 PM): tell him to use pidgin
Fladrifv (4:38:31 PM): skip the horrors of aim :)
ArPharazonV (4:38:56 PM): him? *gasp*
Fladrifv (4:39:08 PM): her?
ArPharazonV (4:39:09 PM): wait, Indis *is* a female name, right?
VardaValar1 (4:39:18 PM): Aye, she's a lady.
Fladrifv (4:39:29 PM): oh he is a lady, Im sorry Indis
AriehnV (4:39:36 PM) has entered the room.
Fladrifv (4:39:41 PM): ok tell her to use pidgin
VardaValar1 (4:39:42 PM): Aiya Arien : )

Fladrifv (4:39:53 PM): Aiya keeper of the sun
AriehnV (4:39:54 PM): aiya all :-)
VardaValar1 (4:39:57 PM): When she comes back as the other name, we'll work with her on that.
AriehnV (4:40:14 PM): sorry for the late arrival
Fladrifv (4:40:30 PM): are you a wizzard nowadays ariehn?
VardaValar1 (4:40:34 PM): Glad you came. : )

Fladrifv (4:42:02 PM): aye and I told my work many times but they refuse :)
karakedi25 (4:42:02 PM) has been invited.
Invitation result for buddy karakedi25 : karakedi25 is busy.
karakedi25 (4:42:03 PM) has entered the room.
AriehnV (4:42:07 PM): a tree has roots .. guess they take time to pull out every time
VardaValar1 (4:42:15 PM): Yay, you made it in, Indis!
karakedi25 (4:42:16 PM): aiye meldor
VardaValar1 (4:42:23 PM): Aiya, meldo. : )
AriehnV (4:42:29 PM): Aiya Meldo :-)
karakedi25 (4:42:30 PM): but still with the black cat name
VardaValar1 (4:42:42 PM): Good enough so we can work with you.
Fladrifv (4:42:45 PM): Aiya karaindiskedi
karakedi25 (4:43:01 PM): :-)
AriehnV (4:43:26 PM): 8-)
VardaValar1 (4:43:57 PM): Fladrif, you suggested using Pidgin?
Fladrifv (4:44:06 PM): *nod*
Fladrifv (4:44:17 PM): I use it atleast
AriehnV (4:44:26 PM): whats pidgin?
VardaValar1 (4:44:31 PM): Anyone know how to do another name on AIM?
Fladrifv (4:44:35 PM): not that that makes it a better program bus has been stable to me
VardaValar1 (4:44:36 PM): A program.
VardaValar1 (4:44:59 PM): There's a way to make linked screen names on AIM, but I don't know it.
AriehnV (4:45:06 PM): on the main site there should be a button *get screenname*
karakedi25 (4:45:42 PM): it said I'm ineligible to get another screen name
VardaValar1 (4:46:06 PM): Screen name format, lets you add spaces and stuff.
VardaValar1 (4:46:33 PM): Can't change letters or numbers.
Fladrifv (4:46:36 PM): unfortunate doesnt aim has a nickname function or?
VardaValar1 (4:46:44 PM): Yes, it does.
Fladrifv (4:46:45 PM): or is it already taken?
karakedi25 (4:46:51 PM): I know IRC lets you change your name in a chatroom
VardaValar1 (4:47:02 PM): How do you get the nickname to show instead of the screen name?
Fladrifv (4:47:06 PM) has left the room.
karakedi25 (4:47:33 PM): I have Indis as my nickname and my display name, but I can't get them to show up
fladrifv (4:48:02 PM) has been invited.
Fladrifv (4:48:06 PM) has entered the room.
VardaValar1 (4:48:10 PM): Aiyata
Fladrifv (4:48:15 PM): aiyata
VardaValar1 (4:48:24 PM): VardaValar1: How do you get the nickname to show instead of the screen name?
Fladrifv has left the room.
karakedi25: I have Indis as my nickname and my display name, but I can't get them to show up
Fladrifv (4:48:28 PM): ok that didnt help now its only here that my name is fladrif without v
karakedi25 (4:48:44 PM): that's all I need. How did you do that?
VardaValar1 (4:48:45 PM): I see you with a v still.
karakedi25 (4:48:51 PM): so do I
ArPharazonV (4:48:55 PM): yep
ArPharazonV (4:49:03 PM): as well as the buddylist
karakedi25 (4:49:22 PM): the only thing I can think of is to ditch this account and make a new one under Indis V
karakedi25 (4:49:33 PM): but then I'm Indis V to everyone I deal with in AIM
Fladrifv (4:49:57 PM): or have both
Fladrifv (4:50:09 PM): you can be online with more then one
VardaValar1 (4:50:09 PM): You would rather be karakedi25 for everyone you deal with in AIM?
ArPharazonV (4:50:18 PM): maybe you should try contacting Pallando, I know he's online with 3 screennames when he's online
AriehnV (4:50:20 PM): make two accounts ? one u use for Valar meetings and one for general?
VardaValar1 (4:50:22 PM): Pallando comes in here under three names at once.
Fladrifv (4:50:37 PM): make and use two at the same time
VardaValar1 (4:51:07 PM): Other choice is to come here as karakedi25 and not worry about it.
VardaValar1 (4:51:35 PM): Bombur-V often comes as MrMonkey2000blah
VardaValar1 (4:51:53 PM): We can deal with it. : )
Fladrifv (4:52:07 PM): aha so that is bombur! ;)
VardaValar1 (4:52:27 PM): Eomer comes as iwf519, which I have an even worse time with. : )
karakedi25 (4:52:46 PM): Not sure how to make a second AIM account, as it said I couldn't make a new screen name
VardaValar1 (4:52:48 PM): Use the Membership list to help decode these names and then edit a note into the AIM name.
ArPharazonV (4:53:05 PM): MyCantalopeH8tsU is still my favorite
karakedi25 (4:53:11 PM): let's stick with this for now, and I can  fiddle later
VardaValar1 (4:53:11 PM): lol
ArPharazonV (4:53:12 PM): closely followed by MrMonkey
ArPharazonV (4:53:27 PM): Gamatzgamatz is also nice
AriehnV (4:53:30 PM): hehe who is that?
AriehnV (4:53:35 PM): mr Canta?
ArPharazonV (4:53:37 PM): cantalope is Dior
ArPharazonV (4:53:45 PM): Gamatz is Thranduil
VardaValar1 (4:53:46 PM): Dior is Cantalope
AriehnV (4:53:52 PM): *gg* ok
ArPharazonV (4:53:55 PM): according to my buddy comments
VardaValar1 (4:54:20 PM): When they come a lot, we don't have to check the comments. Not so bad.
VardaValar1 (4:54:44 PM): Let's get started, an hour late nearly.
top

VardaValar1 (4:54:58 PM): Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo!
ArPharazonV (4:55:04 PM): I also have a hoenoefoeloeboej, not sure if he's Valar, got no comment..
VardaValar1 (4:55:19 PM): I don't know that one at all, Phar.
VardaValar1 (4:55:24 PM): Membership:
ArPharazonV (4:55:34 PM): then he must be from somewhere else
VardaValar1 (4:56:01 PM): Our new member this week is Indis-(V), from LotRO.
VardaValar1 (4:56:44 PM): Indis, we have a custom of calling on people at their first AIM meeting to "say a few words" to introduce themselves, such as how they came across us and what they are willing to tell.
VardaValar1 (4:56:57 PM): This is your turn!
karakedi25 (4:58:29 PM): I came across the guild in a link in the LotRO forum and checked it out. I liked what I saw, and so I wrote to Varda. Then we connected in LotRO.
karakedi25 (4:59:11 PM): She got me invited to a raid group in Moria, and we had quite a good time getting killed :-)
VardaValar1 (4:59:17 PM): lol
karakedi25 (4:59:35 PM): then she gave me the LotR test, and apparently I passed
VardaValar1 (4:59:49 PM): (We also killed the boss, won the raid.)
karakedi25 (4:59:54 PM): I've been a Tolkien fan since I was 13 and introduced to the first two books...
karakedi25 (5:00:07 PM): RotK wasn't published yet
karakedi25 (5:00:16 PM): and I got it as soon as it came out!
karakedi25 (5:00:29 PM): read LotR annually for about 10 years
VardaValar1 (5:00:31 PM): ow, to have to wait.
karakedi25 (5:00:53 PM): and then later discovered the Silmarillion, which I really like a lot...
karakedi25 (5:01:17 PM): and from there, on to HoME, UT, and Tolkien's marvelous Letters
karakedi25 (5:01:20 PM): and his bio
karakedi25 (5:01:49 PM): I'm particularly interested in his extraordinary work with his languages--a truly amazing achievement
karakedi25 (5:02:01 PM): but I also find elven culture and history of great interest
karakedi25 (5:02:24 PM): I confess to a certain sympathy with the Noldor, as a 'heady' sort myself...
karakedi25 (5:02:33 PM): though not with Feanor's corruption of them
VardaValar1 (5:03:06 PM): Always one bad egg. Too bad he was so charismatic.
karakedi25 (5:03:16 PM): indeed, but of course, Melkor got to him
karakedi25 (5:03:29 PM): otherwise, he might have made more constructive contributions and no rebellion
VardaValar1 (5:03:59 PM): And yet he hated Melkor.
karakedi25 (5:04:01 PM): what else can I tell you?
karakedi25 (5:04:21 PM): yes, especially after Melkor killed his father and took his Silmarili
VardaValar1 (5:04:22 PM): Is Tolkien what influenced you to go into Linguistics?
karakedi25 (5:04:47 PM): could have been part of it, though I think Latin played an even greater part--I loved Latin
ArPharazonV (5:05:04 PM): past tense? :)
karakedi25 (5:05:27 PM): haven't studied Latin for more years than I want to say :-)
luthienathariel (5:05:45 PM) has been invited.
luthienathariel (5:05:53 PM) has entered the room.
Fladrifv (5:05:55 PM): what makes latin so special?
luthienathariel (5:06:13 PM): Suilad, phain in mellyn :)
karakedi25 (5:06:28 PM): Suilad
karakedi25 (5:07:03 PM): Latin was my first foreign language, and so it introduced me to a whole new world of entertainment and intellectual stimulation
VardaValar1 (5:07:16 PM): Suilad, Luthien : )
VardaValar1 (5:07:33 PM): I can say that about Latin too, Indis. ;-)
Fladrifv (5:07:46 PM): Aiya Luth, (I must confess i never read latin)
luthienathariel (5:07:47 PM): (btw , should have been _mellyn in phain_)
luthienathariel (5:08:09 PM): I did latin for 3 yrs at school
ArPharazonV (5:08:45 PM): aiya Luth :)
ArPharazonV (5:09:07 PM): I could've done Latin at Gymnasium level, but decided to go one step lower so never had Latin...
ArPharazonV (5:09:35 PM): seems like an interesting language though, did one short course in it for a few months somewhere during my second or third year of high school
VardaValar1 (5:09:59 PM): Tolkien likened Quenya to Latin as the language once used but more or less lost except for in writing.
luthienathariel (5:10:02 PM): I did Greek too for a year but I dropped that b/c you only could do 7 topics
ArPharazonV (5:10:04 PM): hah, first time I've thought about that in years

luthienathariel (5:11:35 PM): and of course, there is Asterix ... :)
ArPharazonV (5:11:55 PM): hehe
ArPharazonV (5:12:05 PM): odd fellows, those Romans...
VardaValar1 (5:12:05 PM): I have no idea what Asterix is.
ArPharazonV (5:12:14 PM): Asterix is a comic
luthienathariel (5:12:16 PM): it's a french comic
VardaValar1 (5:12:21 PM): Thanks : )
ArPharazonV (5:12:22 PM): mostly known from France up to the Netherlands
luthienathariel (5:12:23 PM): about the Galois
karakedi25 (5:12:27 PM): French comic, set among the Vikings, I thought
ArPharazonV (5:12:34 PM): nope, in Gaul
karakedi25 (5:12:46 PM): :-)
Fladrifv (5:12:46 PM): little bit earlier then that
ArPharazonV (5:12:47 PM): somewhere on the coast of... Bretagne?
luthienathariel (5:12:49 PM): and it is historically very interesting too
luthienathariel (5:12:50 PM): yes
AriehnV (5:12:54 PM): the Romans .. they are mad the romans
luthienathariel (5:12:55 PM): on the very tip
Fladrifv (5:13:10 PM): normandi
AriehnV (5:13:13 PM): and surrounded by six roman camps
ArPharazonV (5:13:18 PM): a small town who's resisted the forces of Caesar, who's conquered everything else
Fladrifv (5:13:22 PM): nod
ArPharazonV (5:13:23 PM) has left the room.
luthienathariel (5:13:26 PM): and it is filled with Latin quotes ..
AriehnV (5:13:34 PM): its so fun that comic hehe
luthienathariel (5:13:40 PM): like "Cave Canem"
Fladrifv (5:13:46 PM): its most fun in french
ArPharazonV (5:13:48 PM) has entered the room.
ArPharazonV (5:13:50 PM): wrong button, I hope you saved
AriehnV: Asterix readers know more
VardaValar1: I did.
ArPharazonV: anyway, it's 4 camps I think
ArPharazonV: what did I miss?
Fladrifv: bij tautalus :-)...oh that was the dutch version
AriehnV: ok lol can well be .. i ve got the whole collection of them
luthienathariel: toutatis
AriehnV: just not here
ArPharazonV: it's a nice comic, read a few, but never been a collector
Fladrifv: <--- dislectic
luthienathariel: Laudanum, Babaorum, ... and ...
karakedi25: dyslexic, actually
ArPharazonV: ...2 more
ArPharazonV: something with Aqua?
Fladrifv: didnt I get my point proven with writing it wrong? :S
AriehnV: aquorum and Brimborum?
AriehnV: somethg like that lol
luthienathariel: lol - those names were hilarious
VardaValar1: You'd have to swap a couple of letters, Flad. : )
ArPharazonV: Asterix and Obelix and Panoramix...
luthienathariel: I bet they're even funnier in French
ArPharazonV: what was the chieftain's name again?
luthienathariel: Abraracourcix
ArPharazonV: ah, right
VardaValar1: I assume it's paper, with no online version?
luthienathariel: and Hokkiestix, Nognix, Kostunrix
Fladrifv: the seeer xienix...
karakedi25: you did, but I thought you might like to know how to spell it
luthienathariel: LOL
ArPharazonV: dunno, someone might have put them online at some point
ArPharazonV: haha
ArPharazonV: I remember Kostunrix...
Fladrifv: yes thanks for that Karakedi
luthienathariel: and the Vikings all have names that end in -af
luthienathariel: Zakaf, Stapaf, Liflaf etc.
VardaValar1: Rifraf?
ArPharazonV: there's been a few large animated movies based on some of the books as well
Fladrifv: now we are on the liguistic side, what languages do people speak like first and seccond third and so on
AriehnV: http://gb.asterix.com/
AriehnV: thats the official asterix site
luthienathariel: you mean people as in here?
ArPharazonV: and 2 "real" movies too.. live action I think is the term?
VardaValar1: Hantalye, Arien. : )
Fladrifv: *nod to luth*
karakedi25: about to kill a boss in lotro--away for a couple of minutes...back soon
luthienathariel: yes, Obelix was played by Gerard Depardieu there
ArPharazonV: yep
luthienathariel: kill a boss in lotro <- is that slang for going to the washroom?
VardaValar1: She's in the Lord of the Rings Online game.
Fladrifv: hooom hoom :-)
ArPharazonV: *smirk*
luthienathariel: ohhh lotro - right.
karakedi25: back
VardaValar1: Quick death.
luthienathariel: wow, that is a quick lotro.
karakedi25: easy boss
VardaValar1: What boss?
Fladrifv: hasty folk!
karakedi25: level 1 LI instance
VardaValar1: ah gotcha.
luthienathariel: hm, very technical.
Fladrifv: dont worry luth even for me
luthienathariel: I don't :-)
ArPharazonV: that site, Arien.... are those the names in English?
luthienathariel: promeeze
ArPharazonV: Getafix, Vitalstatistix?
luthienathariel: ahhh
AriehnV: aye its an english site
AriehnV: yep
luthienathariel: I don;t know those ... brilliant :D
ArPharazonV: haha, nice
ArPharazonV: Getafix is our Panoramix
luthienathariel: Visstix
AriehnV: i think i ll browse there another day it looks hilarious
luthienathariel: Idéfix
ArPharazonV: Vitalstatistix is our Abraracourcix
AriehnV: Cacofonix is the bard

VardaValar1: Asterix is really off-topic, gang. : )
luthienathariel: ah yes, Assurancetourix
VardaValar1: We were introducing Indis-(V). : )
ArPharazonV: Dogmatix :D
luthienathariel: oh, I don't see any Indis online ...
Fladrifv: beefix...
AriehnV: Karakedi is afk she is fighting a boss
VardaValar1: karakedil25 is Indis-(V)
AriehnV: in Lotro
VardaValar1: She is back, Arien.
luthienathariel: oh I see
karakedi25: yes, sorry about that...can't get the login name to change to Indis V
VardaValar1: Indis, it was Latin that got you started on Linguistics?
karakedi25: yes, though I'm sure Tolkien and his lovely language lore helped
VardaValar1: You did start reading Tolkien at 13, possible influence there.
karakedi25: indeed--I played around with Tengwar, as so many geeky teens do ;-)

luthienathariel: (btw I uploaded a HD version of the Song of Beren & Lúthien http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btQzobKFX0A)

ArPharazonV: Tengwar was a bit too much for me, I did memorise the Dwarven runic alphabet from the Hobbit at some time though
AriehnV: hehe yeah i think ive gtot some school books full of tengwar versions of my real name in on cover
luthienathariel: yes, I did that too ...
karakedi25: I liked the looks of Tengwar more than Cirth
ArPharazonV: dwarven runes were 1-on-1 with our own alphabet though, Tengwar is a bit harder
karakedi25: but oh so beautiful
Fladrifv: ents of confusion, tengwar?
karakedi25: elvish letters, originally designed in Valinor by Rumil and adapted by Feanor
Fladrifv: thanks
ArPharazonV: can be found in Appendix... D? E? F?
AriehnV: D i think
AriehnV: or E one of those tow
AriehnV: two]
ArPharazonV: wasn't D the calendar?
karakedi25: not the part about Rumil. I think that's probably in the Letters or Home
Fladrifv: *me feels that he lacks one or two pieces of information*

VardaValar1: Beautiful video, Luthien.
karakedi25: I'm sure there's lots you know that we don't
VardaValar1: I'll be adding the link into your site later. Very good!

karakedi25: a nice discovery!

AriehnV: right Valarites i have to vanish and the light fades from the sky .. but if want a chance for it to rise again in time its time for westering home
VardaValar1: We seem to have completely skipped the rest of the meeting, so I'll run a fast recap, then back to Tolkien if anyone's left. : )
karakedi25: may the stars shine on your path, ArehnV
Fladrifv: *waves to the west*
ArPharazonV: Namarie sunshine!
AriehnV: Nice meeting you Idris
VardaValar1: Namarie, Arien!
luthienathariel: novaer :-)
AriehnV: Anar kaluva tielyanna , Idris !
AriehnV: *bows to the room"
AriehnV has left the room.

VardaValar1: Backlogged, good stuff coming for the Tolkien Site.
karakedi25: anything else you want me to tell you?
VardaValar1: We have more of Jay of Lasgalen's stories, cool haiku by Indis, and that YouTube of Beren and Luthien from Luthien-(T)
Fladrifv: did you read saga of old days like the edda?
Fladrifv: oh sorry varda
VardaValar1: np
luthienathariel: and the Earendil one too ;-)
VardaValar1: Thought you were done, Indis, sorry.
VardaValar1: Is it not up? ack. Url again?
luthienathariel: oh, sorry - I did not mean that ... I suppose it is
VardaValar1: sure enough, I don't see it. Url please?
VardaValar1: Only the first Beren and Luthien link.
luthienathariel: on the site?
luthienathariel: hmmm
luthienathariel: k
luthienathariel: just a second
VardaValar1: http://valar.game-host.org/varda/gallery/LuthienTV/caveLuthienTV.htm
karakedi25: I'm done if I've told you what you wanted to know
VardaValar1: Your intro disappeared into a comics discussion, kind of strange, sorry.
luthienathariel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezt7KucDJlc  [Note: "Song of Earendil" by luthienathariel]
ArPharazonV: I blame... well.. no idea who brought up Asterix, anyway
VardaValar1: Thanks. This transcript will hold the urls for the update, so they can be done together. Think I'll make a separate page for the YouTube collection.
VardaValar1: Doesn't matter, everyone had a great time with it. :-)
VardaValar1: I couldn't resist adding Rifraf.
luthienathariel: you don't have the Sindarin version of Beren and Luthien either .. I'll mail that to you
karakedi25: ooh can I have one too?
VardaValar1: Please give the url here.
VardaValar1: You mean written?
luthienathariel: sent
luthienathariel: yes
luthienathariel: the text
luthienathariel: sure, what is your email address?
VardaValar1: It will be on the website, Indis. Shared with the world. : )
karakedi25: yay!
VardaValar1: Thank you, Luthien.
VardaValar1: Side window on the email would be a good idea.
VardaValar1: That was all under Web, very good.

VardaValar1: Gaming, very quick.
VardaValar1: What non-WoW or non-LotRO games this week?
VardaValar1: Fladrif was in a Chess tournament.
Fladrifv: still in a chess tournament
Fladrifv: won one game more
VardaValar1: Congratulations!
Fladrifv: still 2 to go for the groupe round
VardaValar1: Any other games?
Fladrifv: red allert 3
Fladrifv: world of goo
ArPharazonV: nah... got close to playing one, but didn't
Fladrifv: armadillo run
Fladrifv: :-)
VardaValar1: Thought you finished off that armadillo. ;-)
Fladrifv: got 1300 levels more to do
ArPharazonV: he keeps getting new levels
VardaValar1: Be a bit then!
VardaValar1: WoW:
VardaValar1: Argent Dawn European server:
VardaValar1: Fladrif, go ahead. : )
karakedi25: good work, Fladrif
Fladrifv: I got my dk (dead knight) to 60
Fladrifv: just before my 10 day trail ends
VardaValar1: Maxed out in a short time, very impressive.
Fladrifv: I will not rejoin wow, dont have time for it
VardaValar1: Glad you could be around for that time for the fun.
Fladrifv: maxxed would mean for me 70
ArPharazonV: you'll be back...
VardaValar1: Ah, right, 70.
VardaValar1: Arien had news.
VardaValar1: She had to delete some characters from Argent Dawn, just couldn't play so many.
VardaValar1: She kept three.
VardaValar1: AriehnV: thats Arrien (mage), Ahrienn (priest) and Failivrin (hunter)
VardaValar1: In Lothar server, the usual gang were running together, questing and crafting.
VardaValar1: Uldaman server had the group on more than usual, lots of leveling and grouping there.
VardaValar1: LotRO:
VardaValar1: That is where most of our people are, and they don't seem to see a reason to come to these meetings mostly. Just don't know any better.
VardaValar1: Thank you, Indis, for being an exception!

Other Business:
VardaValar1: Any other business from anyone?
karakedi25: well, I'm in LotRO took, but I'm doing things I can hop in and out of
luthienathariel: yes
VardaValar1: Luthien, go ahead.
luthienathariel: oh, no sorry
luthienathariel: that's not for gaming
top

VardaValar1: Tolkien:
VardaValar1: It was for any business that was not Tolkien not yet discussed.
VardaValar1: Most people don't have Other Business. Go ahead if you have some.
luthienathariel: well, it is Tolkien
luthienathariel: but not Game
VardaValar1: Great, moving on to Tolkien.
VardaValar1: Go ahead, Luthien. : )
luthienathariel: just wanted to mention that I am, with that opensim version of Valinor, stuck in the infamous Local Loopback problem
VardaValar1: oboy
luthienathariel: which means that I can run it either in local mode, where I can log in
luthienathariel: or in external mode, in which the rest of the world can login
luthienathariel: but not both
karakedi25: what do you mean by a sim? Are you in Second Life?
luthienathariel: so I will have to get that working
Fladrifv: but if you connect by use of your external ip?
luthienathariel: no, it is a standalone universe
Fladrifv: instead of 127.0.0.1
luthienathariel: notthing to do with second life
karakedi25: how does one access it?
luthienathariel: @frladrif - I tried that
Fladrifv: or bridge it
luthienathariel: you can, if I switch it to external
Fladrifv: or open both listening ports
luthienathariel: no Fladrif, I tried ...
luthienathariel: it's more complex than that
luthienathariel: believe me
Fladrifv: no ;-)
VardaValar1: hehe
luthienathariel: k, will discuss it in side window
luthienathariel: maybe you can help me then :-)
Fladrifv: lets get this solved
luthienathariel: but to answer Indis' Q
luthienathariel: when it runs,
luthienathariel: you can take any opensim compatible viewer like Hippo
luthienathariel: or even the standard 2nd life thing
luthienathariel: and hook up to my server (i.e. my desktop pc) and enter
luthienathariel: I modeled part of Valinor in there, and it is still very basic ...
luthienathariel: I want to make it as good as possibel
luthienathariel: ble
luthienathariel: I can give you a user account if you want, and the IP address
karakedi25: I would need to download software?
luthienathariel: but it won't be online permanently because of that problem I have
luthienathariel: yes, the viewer
luthienathariel: google for Hippo Opensim viewer
luthienathariel: or realXtend
luthienathariel: or Cool<something>
luthienathariel: forgot the exact name
Fladrifv: http://sourceforge.net/project/platformdownload.php?group_id=235285
Fladrifv: hippo
luthienathariel: here's some general info
luthienathariel: http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Main_Page
luthienathariel: http://img.skitch.com/20090426-bg3fj89ga6edky9pk92sssu3g4.jpg
luthienathariel: that last is a screen shot
luthienathariel: on the foot of Túna, looking East
karakedi25: The Calacirya
luthienathariel: yep
karakedi25: I always thought of that part as land, until you reach the shore
luthienathariel: so did I, but I had a good look at the atlas of Middle Earth, and there is a bit of a creek running up to Túna
luthienathariel: maybe it is less wide.
karakedi25: Is the Atlas fully based on accurate lore, or do you suppose the author may have used a bit of artistic license?
luthienathariel: I think it is the most accurate that's around ...
VardaValar1: It is not perfect, we've found errors in the Atlas.
VardaValar1: We often double-check in the original text.
luthienathariel: though if new facts come up, I am happy to hear them ...
karakedi25: this is not to minimize the worth of the Atlas, which is a fine piece of work
ArPharazonV: well, if you find another fact about that particular spot?
VardaValar1: Always good to read through the text in any project though.
VardaValar1: It might be perfectly accurate, and then you can point out the passages to people.
VardaValar1: Certainly gives a good place to start!
karakedi25: an online search for Tirion on Tuna and Calacirya might also help
VardaValar1: True. Just also be careful of anything online. The only sure source is the original work for last touches.
VardaValar1: Ok, Luth and Flad are probably trading tech stuff on a side window. : )
VardaValar1: I'm enjoying your haiku, Indis.
luthienathariel: indeed
VardaValar1: It should be online after a bit.
Fladrifv: for the first time Im to quick!
VardaValar1: We have hit the two hour mark. Would everyone like to call it a night, or morning?
VardaValar1: hehe - hasty?
VardaValar1: One more mention
VardaValar1: for those in the text rp
karakedi25: thanks, VardaValar1
VardaValar1: Indis is considering joining in.
VardaValar1: She also has one that we might look at, a starter for a new rp perhaps, to add to the one we are in.
VardaValar1: If nothing else, it might be fun to look at.
VardaValar1: The other rp that some of the guys started seems to have stopped after about two posts.
VardaValar1: Scouting Ahead is still going, be sure to post.
VardaValar1: Any other mentions anyone wishes to make?
karakedi25: I look forward to reading Scouting Ahead and maybe joining in, if that's ok
VardaValar1: Please talk with us about it in AIM when you get ready.
VardaValar1: Right now it would be easiest to join as a Mirkwood elf, but we can try to accomodate you with some creativity.
karakedi25: if I think I can contribute, I'll be in touch with you
VardaValar1: Thank you. I'm sure you can, but it's a lot of reading. Have fun!
karakedi25: I read pretty fast...
VardaValar1: Perfect then. : )
VardaValar1: If there is no further business?
karakedi25: 'thanks all for the welcome
ArPharazonV: *bows*
karakedi25: I hope I haven't talked too much for a newcomer
VardaValar1: A great pleasure to have you with us here and in LotRO!
ArPharazonV: nah, we could use some action
VardaValar1: Not at all. : )
luthienathariel: can one talk to much as a newcomer?
VardaValar1: What Phar said.
luthienathariel: too
VardaValar1: Helps to stay in the general region of the topic, otherwise hard to, aye!
karakedi25: *agrees*
VardaValar1: *raises shiny, silver gavel*
VardaValar1: *tinnnnnnnng*
luthienathariel: *ducks*

VardaValar1: After-meeting!
luthienathariel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvirBIRHCrg
VardaValar1: Free chat about anything, bed, or join together in games.
VardaValar1: What would that be, Luth?
luthienathariel: a pilot for instruction video's for the library
luthienathariel: made on the same opensim server
VardaValar1: Thank you. : )
karakedi25: nice
ArPharazonV: I'm watching the spawn-spot for the Violet Hold Higher Learning book at the moment, should spawn in the next 40 minutes...
luthienathariel: is that a game?
ArPharazonV: not that I need it, but eh, people in the channel for it helped me, might as well help back, was farming the last book I *do* need until a few minutes ago
ArPharazonV: it's part of WoW
luthienathariel: do they farm books in Wow?
VardaValar1: You're a sweetie, Phar. : )
ArPharazonV: it's for an achievement
VardaValar1: I farm potatoes in LotRO. ;-)
ArPharazonV: they spawn every 3-4 hours
luthienathariel: books spawn??
ArPharazonV: just those 8 for the achievement
luthienathariel: *imagination running wild*
ArPharazonV: 3 minutes after the first person reads them they disappear
VardaValar1: Sounds cool heheh
Fladrifv: every 3-4 hours? mine take 3 months to be ready
luthienathariel: I now imagine some sort of stable with books in it
VardaValar1: Means they pop up in a particular spot.
ArPharazonV: ...Yes. What Varda said.
luthienathariel: grunting and crowding together around a well of ink
VardaValar1: Maybe they go up waterfalls.
luthienathariel: like salmon
VardaValar1: Aye
luthienathariel: ahhh .. . the poetry ...
VardaValar1: =)
VardaValar1: Hello's from Gimli-(V) and Sauron-(Valar)
VardaValar1: Gimli's on the phone. : )
ArPharazonV: hello back
karakedi25: good to meet you all! Going to log out now
VardaValar1: Namarie!
Fladrifv: *waves*
Fladrifv: nice meeting you
karakedi25: namarie!
ArPharazonV: Namarie
karakedi25 has left the room.
VardaValar1: I think I'll be leaving too. Close to the point of having Indis' poetry online, so you might look for that tomorrow. :-)
VardaValar1: See you another time, friends. : )
ArPharazonV: will finish this book-watching for a bit
ArPharazonV: then logging out and doing whatever :-)
VardaValar1: :-)
Fladrifv: namarie!
luthienathariel: novaer
ArPharazonV: namarie Varda
VardaValar1: Thanks for coming!
VardaValar1 has left the room.
Fladrifv has left the room.
luthienathariel has left the room.
