mordacil: yes
VardaValar1: Mostly, just wire them in where you want them. What in particular?
mordacil: how often do teh flashing ones flash?
VardaValar1: Probably depends on which one you've got.
Srekal86: er it all depends
Srekal86: lots of different LEDs out there
VardaValar1: Go shower, Hyarion ;-)
mordacil: if you put multiple flashers on a parallel circuit, will they all still work?
Srekal86: I'm going :p
VardaValar1: If enough power and wired right, should work
mordacil: Im trying to get a string of randomly flashing LEDs to make a sparkling effect
VardaValar1: Might try putting different resistances between some of them?
ArPharazonV: this sounds very interesting... reminds me of physics in high school
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
Xseanzee disco has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya : )
ArPharazonV: we had this system-thingy were we could plug in wires and lamps etc and practice with parellel connections and that sort of thing
Eonwe Valar: heya all
ArPharazonV: very cool
Menelvagor Valar: Aiya
ArPharazonV: we would plug it in with technic lego and build bridges with flashing lights, and that sort of thing...
ArPharazonV: good fun
Menelvagor Valar: You guys will never guess which sport I just started practicing! :-)
ArPharazonV: curling!
ArPharazonV: cricket!

Menelvagor Valar: sorry, best I can do is Ent scorching, as soon as I get close to Flad :-P
VardaValar1: Longbow?
ArPharazonV: crossbow?
Menelvagor Valar: Recurve.
VardaValar1: Great Menel - you orc
VardaValar1: ok, stars get a tad warm
Menelvagor Valar: yes well, I can scorch anything living...
Menelvagor Valar: or dead..
VardaValar1: Recurved longbow?
Menelvagor Valar: aye.
Chugin Chub has left the room.
ArPharazonV: what does recurve mean exactly?
mordacil: it...recurves
Menelvagor Valar: it means the blades of the bow are inside out.
VardaValar1: curve curves back the other way
Menelvagor Valar: A normal longbow's string does not touch the bow itself.
ArPharazonV: http://www.wyomingmade.com/recurve_bows.htm !
Menelvagor Valar: doesn't open.
ArPharazonV: without the !
ArPharazonV: http://www.wyomingmade.com/recurve_bows.htm
Menelvagor Valar: yep, that's a recurve.
VardaValar1: Sauron-Valar uses an old style longbow, Elatan even makes them
Menelvagor Valar: You can see the string touches the bow on top and bottom.
Menelvagor Valar: well, I would prefer to use an old-style one, however, a recurve is better to start learning with.
VardaValar1: We started learning with an old-style longbow because we're crazy ;-)
Menelvagor Valar: hehe.
VardaValar1: I usually borrow or rent, as does Fangorn, but we got one for Sauron
Menelvagor Valar: well, in a small gym area where about 2 dozen people are shooting arrows, best not to do anything too crazy ;-)
VardaValar1: So, does this qualify as Member news or Gaming, hmm
Menelvagor Valar: member.
ArPharazonV: http://www.wyomingmade.com/primos_stl.htm dang, this looks interesting
Menelvagor Valar: not going to use it for gaming :-)
VardaValar1: We are very careful shooting bows, just our choice is crazy
ArPharazonV: some bows are very advanced...
VardaValar1: Sports are not games? : )
VardaValar1: I'm being terrible, Menel : )
Menelvagor Valar: learning archery for stealth assassination old style :-P
Menelvagor Valar: that one isn't a longbow, Phar.
ArPharazonV: oh, that sounds good... any targets in mind?
VardaValar1: Good thing you'd burn up any bow you touched, np
Menelvagor Valar: that's a compound.
ArPharazonV: yeah, yeah, just saying
Menelvagor Valar: hmmm... the boyfriend of the girl I'm in love with...?
VardaValar1: My brother in law hunts deer with a compound. Venison in the fridge yearly
ArPharazonV: good luck with those.. they're like weeds... they always come back
Menelvagor Valar: *grin*
Menelvagor Valar: well, this particular guy got ahead of me before with another girl.
ArPharazonV: vengeance!
VardaValar1: You might not want all that fun stuff on a public transcript?
Menelvagor Valar: well, they won't read it.
VardaValar1: Guess we can say we already started Member News, so we don't have to retype? or just link backwards? ; )
Menelvagor Valar: and if they do, they might not put two to the power of infinity minus one against one plus two to the power of infinity plus one together so they might get me is me.

VardaValar1: Elen sila lumenn omentielvo!
VardaValar1: Member News:
VardaValar1: Menelvagor has taken up the stealth assassination longbow...
VardaValar1: pardon, just the longbow.
ArPharazonV: I prefer crossbows myself.. http://www.wyomingmade.com/viper_copperhead.htm
Menelvagor Valar: *grin*
VardaValar1: Some nice crossbows out there. I like the self-loading for speed, but don't use them
Menelvagor Valar: too long in the reload Phar.
ArPharazonV: meh, just takes a bit of practice!
Menelvagor Valar: a good longbowman can shoot 3 arrows into you by the time you've nocked your 2nd.
VardaValar1: We have other member news, almost as scintillating
VardaValar1: but the crossbow just needs one hit
Menelvagor Valar: *zip*
ArPharazonV: the beauty of the crossbow... one hit, exactly
VardaValar1: side windows are good, but wish I could peek in
VardaValar1: In other member news
Menelvagor Valar: side windows? :-P
VardaValar1: people are answering the Sweep letter, saying they want to stay in
ArPharazonV: (we'll save it for the aftermeeting, perhaps?)
VardaValar1: It's been great. Hearing from people all over
VardaValar1: Both Phar? : )
Menelvagor Valar: (won't be there, early rise tomorrow)
VardaValar1: Side window on your side window
ArPharazonV: (same here.. but who knows)
Glorfindel VG has left the room.
ArPharazonV: (*sits quietly*)
VardaValar1: We just had two disappear completely off AIM: Thror and Glorfindel
VardaValar1: Anyone else having noticeable connection problems?
VardaValar1: I mean just now
VardaValar1: In Member News,
FarmerMaggotV: not here
VardaValar1: good!
ArPharazonV: nope
Menelvagor Valar: I can't connect with my regular comp..
VardaValar1: Manwe is back
VardaValar1: ouch, Menel
Menelvagor Valar: that might be in part due to it being about 12 miles or so from my current location :-P
VardaValar1: If someone would please watch for the guys trying to come back and invite?
VardaValar1: How many here remember Manwe?
VardaValar1: Say Aye
VardaValar1: Aye
Menelvagor Valar: not sure..
ArPharazonV: remember? I may have seen him in a later reoccurence... otherwise, no
Menelvagor Valar: I might have met him a long long time ago... but not sure.
Menelvagor Valar: Did he play D1 regularly?
VardaValar1: He used to play Sauron-Valar and Barliman Butterbur
VardaValar1: Yes, Menel, and SC/BW
Menelvagor Valar: Then I think I have met him, but can't say more than that..
VardaValar1: Eru came up with the idea for the guild, and Manwe did the real setting up
VardaValar1: The Council took what they started and built on it, for today's guild
FarmerMaggotV: ah, Sauron-Valar.... I think I remember vaguely
VardaValar1: We have a current Sauron-Valar
FarmerMaggotV: well, maybe not then
VardaValar1: He plays WoW Lothar
Menelvagor Valar: One of the famous Layton's 8-)
VardaValar1: He's asleep two rooms down from here, after work
VardaValar1: heh - thanks
VardaValar1: Anyway, that means we had 6 Valar honor members in one game, WoW, which hasn't happened since Diablo 1
VardaValar1: Sam reported in, says he's holding out for Lord of the Rings Online :-)
Menelvagor Valar: errr. D1 could only handle 4 occupants if I'm not wrong, which means it's a first time ever?
VardaValar1: We all played the same game
Srekal86 has left the room.
VardaValar1: We did bounce in and out of one game in D1 : )
ArPharazonV: she means regular players of the same game, not in one game simultaneously...
Menelvagor Valar: I think that would count, yes.
VardaValar1: So in a way we did pull a simultaneous game, just not at the same time, heheh
Srekal86 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Welcome back
Menelvagor Valar: I do think she means simultaneously, Phar :-)
VardaValar1: In any case, the most in the same game since D1
VardaValar1: We were very close in D2:LoD
VardaValar1: Tulkas has also emailed in
VardaValar1: He can only access internet rarely by internet cafe when he reaches land
ArPharazonV: ah, allright.... silly me
VardaValar1: He checks on the website to keep up with what is happening
VardaValar1: Right now he's working on a 90 foot yacht, sailing in the Mediterranean and Caribbean
VardaValar1: We trust it's not called the Black Pearl...
ArPharazonV: the Sea Cucumber!
VardaValar1: Many others have also emailed in, and I'm updating the Activity page with their names, in case you are looking for a particular friend
VardaValar1: That's it, Phar!
ArPharazonV: it is?
VardaValar1: j/k
ArPharazonV: heh... it's the name of the ship from Monkey Island 3
VardaValar1: Bombadil had a wonderful answer to the activity mail, and his poem is on the News for your enjoyment : )
VardaValar1: He's still with us
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/guild/news.html
mordacil has left the room.
VardaValar1: and Aerandir crashed...
VardaValar1: Maybe we should make this meeting fast?
FarmerMaggotV: *shrug* seems fine here
VardaValar1: Yay : )
VardaValar1: Any further Membership news?
VardaValar1: Web News:
FarmerMaggotV: yeah, my desk is back and 2+ inches lower
FarmerMaggotV: =)
VardaValar1: Yay, Farmer!
FarmerMaggotV: and my arms hurt a lot less
ArPharazonV: college starts tomorrow!
ArPharazonV: 2006 is about to really begin...
VardaValar1: Yay! I hope that solves your pain, Farmer
VardaValar1: We have lots of work for Farmer ahead : )

VardaValar1: Web News:
VardaValar1: Story Page:
VardaValar1: new stories
VardaValar1: one sec, pardon
Orodreth V: /me pokes his head in
Orodreth V: /me waves, poofs
VardaValar1: Hi there
Curufinwion has entered the room.
VardaValar1: There we go : )
VardaValar1: Aiya Curufinwion
Curufinwion: *waves around* :-)
VardaValar1: Curufinwion is interested in hooking up with us
VardaValar1: Right now we're in Web News, if you'd like to join in
VardaValar1: Stories Page:
VardaValar1: new stories this week are:
ArPharazonV: I'm afraid of that smiley....
VardaValar1: "Maitimo" by Liek
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/fiction/authorsT/Liek/stories/Maitimo.htm
Curufinwion: Oh, I did read it and must to say I liked it
VardaValar1: "Iluvatar's Gift" by Alasseo-(TV) [Note: correction, author's name is Alasse Merenrel-(TV)]
VardaValar1: Oh cool!
VardaValar1: Liek will be happy to hear it
VardaValar1: Feel free to email happy reviews to authors, and cc me if you want it on the page too
Curufinwion: I will
VardaValar1: Iluvatar's Gift:
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/fiction/stories/AlasseTV/IluvatarsGift.htm
VardaValar1: Goes for all of you, especially fellow authors, several of whom are present ;-)
Curufinwion: I'm usually shy to email, hence I didn't. And that of Iluvatar I did read it too (but can't remember a lot )
VardaValar1: It's short, you can look again
VardaValar1: One of the most uplifting I've seen on the subject in a long time
VardaValar1: She usually writes dark, so it's a very pleasant surprise.
VardaValar1: There are a lot more stories in the pipeline for you guys to enjoy, as soon as I can get them up
VardaValar1: Speaking of putting our stuff of all types on the web,
Curufinwion: What is dark in your opinion? I rarely write about happy subjects ;-)
Orodreth V: Oh, wow. That was weird for a moment.
Orodreth V: Someone else goes by Alasseo?
VardaValar1: Pardon, mistype
VardaValar1: Alasse Merenrel-(TV)
Orodreth V: Ah.
VardaValar1: I'm used to your Alasseo, heh. My apologies!
Orodreth V: np
VardaValar1: Use Orodreth and we'll all be fine! ;-)
STEvilaim has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Curu, you probably just answered your question. Unhappy endings, especially, but a generally sad or frightening atmosphere.
VardaValar1: Dark is fun too
VardaValar1: Aiya Scatha!
STEvilaim: woops, sorry for missing the invite, was busy setting up my new system
VardaValar1: Congrats on the new system!
VardaValar1: You are here for the interesting news
STEvilaim: sweet :D
VardaValar1: Farmer Maggo-(V) is setting up a new page system to handle the vast Valar pages
VardaValar1: Maggot (sorry)
FarmerMaggotV: hah
VardaValar1: I need a hot-key for apologies today : )
Curufinwion: The Silmarillion is all sad and gloomy, isn't it? And every time I finish to read LOTR, I end up weeping ;-)
VardaValar1: Like I said, dark is fun too
VardaValar1: I just meant it was a departure from Alasse's usual style
VardaValar1: Farmer's current start on the page, using a really powerful Joomla program, is here:
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.homeip.net/joomla/
FarmerMaggotV: I didn't make the template, just modified the header image to say Valar Guild instead of Naturala =)
VardaValar1: Farmer, after you take a bow, could you tell us a bit about it?
Curufinwion: That's good stuff!
FarmerMaggotV: well, basically Joomla! is a very powerful content management system, and it's also easy to use (in my opinion anyways)
VardaValar1: I'd especially like to know if we cross onto other servers.
VardaValar1: If we can
FarmerMaggotV: and the intent is to make the site easier to run and maintain
VardaValar1: *blesses Farmer*
VardaValar1: We have been needing a strong CMS, and he found us one
Curufinwion: What's a CMS?
FarmerMaggotV: content management system
VardaValar1: Content Management System
Curufinwion: *ahs*
Menelvagor Valar: what's it do?
FarmerMaggotV: makes it easy to manage a large site
VardaValar1: Click on the link so you can look at
VardaValar1: and we have a *larrrge* site
FarmerMaggotV: basically to add a news item, she'd just create a new item, assign it the category news, and be done
Menelvagor Valar: still doesn't tell me anything :-)
VardaValar1: It means he's giving back our lives to the webwork members : )
Menelvagor Valar: well, as it sounds, it's an intermediary in managing files... correct?
FarmerMaggotV: well, not really...
FarmerMaggotV: it uses a database, and everything's generated dynamically
Menelvagor Valar: what is everything?
FarmerMaggotV: what you see in a web browser
VardaValar1: ohh, that was succinct! I could take lessons!
Menelvagor Valar: sorry to be asking all this, but I am kind of a nitwit on net stuff other than basic HTML, and I do like to know what things are :-)
Menelvagor Valar: ok... let's see..
Menelvagor Valar: it's a program thingy, right?
FarmerMaggotV: pretty much
Menelvagor Valar: so, I've got 3 game files and I store em up in the games section...
Menelvagor Valar: then on site, I would see those 3 ordered neatly under games..?
Curufinwion: Same here, Menelvagor. I deal with html well enough, and that's all, I know naught about Java or that CMS ;-)
FarmerMaggotV: hm, probably, yeah, but I haven't messed with files yet
Menelvagor Valar: is it possible to alter the way files are ordered?
FarmerMaggotV: http://demo.joomla.org/administrator/index2.php
FarmerMaggotV: admin / demo I think
VardaValar1: Yes, I've changed file order
VardaValar1: But you need admin privileges to do it
Menelvagor Valar: alphabetically, subalphabetically and such..?
VardaValar1: I do it by subject
Menelvagor Valar: yeah, but how about sub-subjects?
VardaValar1: It's changed by each one having a number assigned to it, first one first
VardaValar1: Change the numbre
VardaValar1: Yes, same
Menelvagor Valar: and it would be easy enough to change that?
Menelvagor Valar: with a simple command?
VardaValar1: Well, I can push an arrow to change, or type in the number
VardaValar1: Once it's set up, I can just stuff in content : )
Menelvagor Valar: guess I'll have to see it for myself to know how it works exactly.
FarmerMaggotV: well, try out the demo
Menelvagor Valar: but I can see it's pretty handy :-)
Menelvagor Valar: one of these days.
VardaValar1: Demo is handy
VardaValar1: Or just use it as a fellow member : )
Menelvagor Valar: well, I still have some other things to do :-)
VardaValar1: Menel is our WoW page man
Menelvagor Valar: and I've got school to worry about :-)
VardaValar1: This can save you some pain too!
VardaValar1: More time for school and other things
Menelvagor Valar: it's not enough to cause me any trouble :-)
VardaValar1: Just shove the content into the page and run
Menelvagor Valar: perhaps...
Menelvagor Valar: I still feel that manually gives me a better grip on things.
VardaValar1: It does give you more time
VardaValar1: And you will need to get in and set up your pages
VardaValar1: That will give you your handle
Menelvagor Valar: perhaps not as good, and takes more time, but as long as I don't have to do as much as you (or a quarter as much) it's enough :-)
VardaValar1: Sure, it's enough
VardaValar1: But we need to make the whole site together
VardaValar1: Don't have to do everything right this sec, be of good cheer : )
Curufinwion: The system looks great but, to get used to it, you would need to spend a few (heh) hours
FarmerMaggotV: yea
VardaValar1: Most of the group will only need to use it to read
VardaValar1: I'm hoping we're setting up so it's easy to find what you want
VardaValar1: Content isn't in yet, just working out Sections and Categories
Menelvagor Valar: I'll check it out then.
Menelvagor Valar: no promises though.
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.homeip.net/joomla/
VardaValar1: None needed : )
VardaValar1: We're still figuring it out
Menelvagor Valar: good, cuz new period is starting at school, and that generally brings quite a bit of work with it.
Menelvagor Valar: start and end are the most stressfull.
VardaValar1: We've been doing this 8 years, it can stand to wait until you have a couple of hours free : )
VardaValar1: Farmer, we have material scattered over many servers
FarmerMaggotV: yeah, I know =)
VardaValar1: Do we have to move it all?
FarmerMaggotV: don't have to, no
VardaValar1: *whew*
Curufinwion: Less work for you
VardaValar1: Ok, I'll need to get back with you on some details
VardaValar1: and some other web folk : )
VardaValar1: Eonwe has the big Gaming page
VardaValar1: He's in here listening too
VardaValar1: Menelvagor has the WoW page, Elatan has the LotRO page
VardaValar1: Elatan has the Member Contact page
Menelvagor Valar: don't forget Varda and her HUGE Encyclopedia 8-)
VardaValar1: and I handle quite a few member page other than that, news, whatnot
VardaValar1: Thanks Menel
VardaValar1: Any other web news?
Menelvagor Valar: just picking out the largest amongst them, Varda, and it deserves mentioning.
VardaValar1: /bow
Menelvagor Valar: /curtsy
VardaValar1: I've been reminded that I should call it a Tolkien site instead of Encyclopedia, since it's not just articles
Menelvagor Valar: I've got a simple solution to that.
VardaValar1: Tough - you're all stuck with the name for now?
Menelvagor Valar: call it Encyclopedia +
VardaValar1: ahhhh! Love it!
VardaValar1: Shining brightly again, are you? : )
Menelvagor Valar: well, I am currently between start and end of a period, so I am fully recharged, yes.
ArPharazonV: and all alert and concentrating from your new hobby?
Menelvagor Valar: heh
VardaValar1: Might send us a photo of your bow!
Menelvagor Valar: just started friday.
Menelvagor Valar: loaner / rental.
VardaValar1: If there is no further web news
Menelvagor Valar: but I will if I can :-)
Eonwe Valar: Remember that that doesn't mean you can pick up shield-surfing next, Menel :}
Menelvagor Valar: shield surfing?
Menelvagor Valar: why would I want that?
Curufinwion: Eek!
VardaValar1: woot!
Xseanzee disco has left the room.
Menelvagor Valar: I prefer a good quarterstaff! :-)
VardaValar1: Right down the side of Helm's Deep
Menelvagor Valar: fun, but not entirely useful, except for recreational purposes.
top

VardaValar1: Gaming News:
VardaValar1: Shield-surfing line forms on the right
VardaValar1: Any gaming besides WoW this week?
VardaValar1: Solitaire? : )
Eonwe Valar: I played Solitaire :}
STEvilaim: freelancer is kinda fun
STEvilaim: been messing around with it for a week, runs on my piddly laptop (xp-m 2400+, 1gb ram, igp320m with 32mb shared)
VardaValar1: Any Guild Wars? D2:LoD? BW? Other?
VardaValar1: Minesweeper/
ArPharazonV: a bit of Warcraft 3 while I was in queue...
VardaValar1: go Phar : )
STEvilaim: havent played guildwars in a few months.. very repetative :/
ArPharazonV: started on a series of custom scenarios I downloaded some time ago... Unholy Crusades
VardaValar1: You recommend, Phar?
Menelvagor Valar: been busy with Dungeon Siege 2 mostly.
VardaValar1: Cool
ArPharazonV: not sure, just started again... I remember them being way too hard, pretty much impossible... but we'll see how far we get
VardaValar1: Remember to send game reviews to Eonwe
VardaValar1: We still need one for D1, which is crazy ; )
VardaValar1: Oh, on Blizzard's page
ArPharazonV: WoW gamecard is about to run out, with my current ram-problems, I'm not sure if I'll resume immediately... so may play a few more games in the upcoming week
VardaValar1: it is asking for art people for an upcoming Diablo project of some kind
Eonwe Valar: sounds like D3 :}
VardaValar1: Play fast, Ar-Pharazon
VardaValar1: One can only hope, Eonwe!
VardaValar1: Ok, on to WoW then : )
VardaValar1: Menel, do you have a WoW Europe report?
Menelvagor Valar: 2 things.
Menelvagor Valar: one: I haven't played much the past month or so due to finances, test weeks, RL, etc.
Glorfindel VG has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Welcome back, Glorfindel!
Menelvagor Valar: two: I am pretty much done with my previous guild, and have plans to start a new one on a different server.
Glorfindel VG: thanks, i was having aim troubles
ArPharazonV: what server?
Menelvagor Valar: Defias.
VardaValar1: Menel, don't forget your Valar buddies on Argent Dawn
ArPharazonV: don't forget us!
VardaValar1: Could you maybe stay on that server and start your new guild?
Menelvagor Valar: Friends and buddies will receive an invitation to join of course.
VardaValar1: They already have a lot invested in their characters
ArPharazonV: I would appreciate the former... since I'm not leaving AD any time soon
Menelvagor Valar: no, it will be too close to old times.
Menelvagor Valar: I want to make a fresh start.
VardaValar1: You don't have to let it be like old times
ArPharazonV: perhaps I'll make 1 or 2 characters to join you... but don't expect to see me much
VardaValar1: You can start with your new character
VardaValar1: You will lose our Valar guys who don't have a lot of time
Eonwe Valar: Could buy a US copy of WoW, heh :}
VardaValar1: Yay!
VardaValar1: Do that, Menel!
Menelvagor Valar: I do not expect any friends there to move with me, but they can play with the new guild when they want to play an alt somewhere else :-)
VardaValar1: We'd love to have you!
Eonwe Valar: (No, don't expect it. but thought I'd throw it out there with all the other suggestions :})
Menelvagor Valar: problem is, I would have to get either a US subscription, or get a bimonthly game card sent over.
Menelvagor Valar: hmmm...
VardaValar1: You can use an international credit card
ArPharazonV: can't you use European game cards to fund an American account?
Menelvagor Valar: don't have one :-)
Menelvagor Valar: might get one in about 4 years :-)
Menelvagor Valar: dunno...
Menelvagor Valar: wouldn't think so.
VardaValar1: It would be worth checking on Phar's suggestion
Menelvagor Valar: yeah, I'll check it out.
Menelvagor Valar: if it does work, you can bet I'll have a US account within the month.
VardaValar1: Woot!
VardaValar1: Please use a version of your guild name : )
Menelvagor Valar: for the name?
VardaValar1: Might even get Menelvagor!
VardaValar1: aye
ArPharazonV: for a character, at least :-)
Menelvagor Valar: Very likely would be Menelvagora :P
VardaValar1: Another guy playing girl characters
VardaValar1: I may run out and get a dwarf guy character, just to cross-gender with the rest of you!
ArPharazonV: I'm going 50-50 on AD.... 4 males, 4 females
Menelvagor Valar: hehe.
ArPharazonV: which was not even my original intention, but happened to work out that way...
Eonwe Valar: Could also try to translate and retranslate your name for alts :}
Menelvagor Valar: well, my main on AD is Gondoline, so I might reset that one on Lothar :-)
Curufinwion: Hmm
Curufinwion: What's wrong with boys playin females chars and viceversa? ;-)
ArPharazonV: we will surely miss you... Valandile's probably on on weird times, mostly, since I don't see him that often... Fladrif isn't around that much either since he moved to Sweden.... it's just me
VardaValar1: Nothing. We were forced into it in D1
VardaValar1: So Valandil is going to be left high and dry?
ArPharazonV: no, no, I just don't see him that often
Menelvagor Valar: oh, I'll be around on AD, just as much as I am now, maybe less, which ain't much anyways.
VardaValar1: Okies. Guess we see how that's going
VardaValar1: WoW Lothar report. Eonwe?
Eonwe Valar: None from me.
ArPharazonV: I got 170g this week!
Eonwe Valar: Usual busy week for me.
VardaValar1: Wow, Phar : )
Eonwe Valar: Minus a few moments that I got to sneak in to check mail.
ArPharazonV: a friend of mine left to the Bladefist server... left me half his fortune
ArPharazonV: sad to see him go
ArPharazonV: he deleted his characters so as not to let them form a distraction
Menelvagor Valar: in-game friend?
ArPharazonV: with my ram or cpu-problems crashing me more often these days, I've decided to sit out on raiding for a while.. so I'm using the opportunity with my new cash to farm for my mount
ArPharazonV: aye, in-game friend
Menelvagor Valar: who? :-)
ArPharazonV: Dandeh
ArPharazonV: I met him as a druid when he was the same level as my paladin
ArPharazonV: he soon made a hunter, and I helped him level a great deal with instances
VardaValar1: Please whisper Tolkien topics to me
VardaValar1: One so far
Menelvagor Valar: aha.
ArPharazonV: he was pretty wealthy... started out with like 700g gotten from a friend or something
ArPharazonV: he remained rich all the time
Curufinwion: Tolkien topics? What for?
ArPharazonV: he wasn't even 60 when he left... 53
Menelvagor Valar: heh.
Menelvagor Valar: nice :-)
ArPharazonV: oh well, he ended up with like 350g, and split it between me and another friend
ArPharazonV: putting me on 550g.... 250 to go for my ram
VardaValar1: okies, thanks Phar
Menelvagor Valar: if I had spent the week gathering gold in WoW while I gathered 1 million gold in Dungeon Siege 2, I would have been pretty rich as well :-D
ArPharazonV: so I"m farming and farming, also gaining rep with Timbermaw at the same time
VardaValar1: Not all here play WoW and some are falling asleep : )
ArPharazonV: got honored yesterday! got a pattern for a new cat-belt.... but that's enough of me
VardaValar1: WoW Lothar has had people on most of the time, some grouping
Orodreth V: "are falling asleep"
Orodreth V: Wrong tense.
Orodreth V: ;-)
ArPharazonV: already are asleep?
VardaValar1: Some of us pull a character out to raid with other groups, mainly because of the communication needed in a raid
VardaValar1: We might consider getting our Ventrilo or even pay [or] Teamspeak
VardaValar1: This would make us more competitive
ArPharazonV: no raid-alliance considered yet?
Orodreth V: why pay for TS?
Orodreth V: guild use is free
VardaValar1: We have a guild friend channel, so we have lots of individuals
VardaValar1: downloaded where, Oro?
Orodreth V: uhh
Orodreth V: the site
Orodreth V: whatever it is now
VardaValar1: (And Orome made an Oro character on WoW.)
Orodreth V: lemme look
VardaValar1: heh
VardaValar1: Thanks
VardaValar1: Any more Tolkien topics?
ArPharazonV: we could continue with the one from last week..
VardaValar1: Whisper, Phar : )
VardaValar1: Anyway, I am looking for more for Dire Maul Friday : )
Menelvagor Valar: /whisper *hihihi*
VardaValar1: : )
ArPharazonV: anyway, won't be around much for the tolkien-topic... going to bed in a few minutes
VardaValar1: o rats
Menelvagor Valar: anyone who wasn't meant to hear that and heard that.. if you would please be so kind and ignore your brain saying you heard something and instead let it tell you you heard nothing and forget what I said. Thank you.
Orodreth V: http://www.goteamspeak.com/index.php?page=downloads
VardaValar1: You're one of the main talkers too
ArPharazonV: college has started! need to get up in 8 hours
VardaValar1: May Irmo send you the best of dreams : )
VardaValar1: Thanks Orodreth!
Menelvagor Valar: 8?
Menelvagor Valar: god.
Orodreth V: Dunno where you got the idea ts costed anything..  [Note: Ventilo costs]
Menelvagor Valar: need to be up in 5.
ArPharazonV: so this time will probably be bedtime for me for most of the next few months....
Glorfindel VG has left the room.
VardaValar1: so if we start Tolkien a half hour earlier?
Curufinwion: *wakes up in 6 as much* :-(
VardaValar1: We won't always have so much new news and discussion as today : )
ArPharazonV: 8, yes.... don't know about you, but I seem to need my sleep... I've slept for 9-10 hours a night for the last month, and I'm still tired
VardaValar1: Might need to eat better too
VardaValar1: I sound like a mother : )
ArPharazonV: a piece of advice is always a good thing :-)
VardaValar1: Um, not really. But thanks
Menelvagor Valar: You are a mother, Varda.
Curufinwion: Varda mommy? Ok
VardaValar1: Well yes. Three kids in the guild, one husband
VardaValar1: etc
Menelvagor Valar: and you're unofficial guild mom too 8-)
ArPharazonV: hehe
VardaValar1: My pleasure : )
top

VardaValar1: Tolkien Chat:
ArPharazonV: mothers liking Tolkien and WoW.... we live in 2 different worlds ;-)
VardaValar1: Curufinwion, my lady, would you like to start?
VardaValar1: There are more of us in the MMORPG's than you know : )
Curufinwion: To start what? :-)
ArPharazonV: god, that smiley keeps scaring the heck out of me...
ArPharazonV: those eyes... that smile... a hidden evil... it haunts my nightmares
Curufinwion: *petpats*
VardaValar1: Tolkien chat
VardaValar1: Your subject
ArPharazonV: "I act nice, but in truth I'm going to kill you all"...
ArPharazonV: sends shivers down my spine
Curufinwion: Hmmm
VardaValar1: The tall guy in Ghostbusters, knocking down buildings, looked like the Pillsbury doughboy
Curufinwion: Which age? Third I suppose? :-)
VardaValar1: You were on Feanor's lot
VardaValar1: Without them, would M-e have been destroyed?
Curufinwion: Of course! Fëanorians rock, don't they?
VardaValar1: As in crawled out from under? ;-)
VardaValar1: Although they had a lot of good points
Curufinwion: How so? Wasn't Fëanor the greatest of the Elves? (Tolkien dixit) ;-)
VardaValar1: Greatest crafter, great salesman, aye
VardaValar1: Powerful fighter
Curufinwion: And scholar
VardaValar1: Not a nice guy
Curufinwion: Poor diplomat, I agree :P
VardaValar1: Aye, he did the runes
Curufinwion: He didn't care, though
Curufinwion: Soooo....
VardaValar1: He could convince many elves to abandon Valinor
VardaValar1: To commit kinslaying
Curufinwion: Kinslaying, hm
VardaValar1: To burn up the Teleri's boats, knowing they were valuable as silmarils to him.
VardaValar1: To abandon a large part of his followers
Curufinwion: It was done by mistake, really. But I agree, they wanted the ships
ArPharazonV: oh, yes, a very good example of fine elven behavior...
Curufinwion: And Olwe proved to be not a good friend
VardaValar1: To make his sons swear an oath that could not be done
VardaValar1: Go get the silmarils from Morgoth, the Vala! yep, go to it, kids.
Curufinwion: Oh, oh, at least he never turned to Morgoth or Sauron *coughs*
ArPharazonV: well, to be honest, Varda, Thingol did the same thing :-)
VardaValar1: He hated Morgoth. I'll give him that.
Curufinwion: Wasn't he courageos? He faced a valar
VardaValar1: Aye, Feanor was courageous
VardaValar1: So was Sauron
Menelvagor Valar: courageous or foolish.
ArPharazonV: I would give Fingolfin more courage than Feanor..
Menelvagor Valar: fine line there.
VardaValar1: Fingolfin also was in deep despair
VardaValar1: Thought he was all left
Eonwe Valar: Fëanor rejected Morgoth before there was a reason to reject Morgoth.
VardaValar1: Thingol was trying to get rid of Beren. Luthien wasn't supposed to go : )
ArPharazonV: one goes mad from despair, the other from vengeance... what's the difference?
VardaValar1: A lot
Menelvagor Valar: all actions by the Noldorin directly against Morgoth had traces of despair, whether meant or not.
VardaValar1: Despair over the loss of those one loves
Curufinwion: The difference was that Fëanor was insane and Fingolfin wasn't, he crossed the Helcaraxe just for pride, and when he turned mad, he went for Morgoth... as Fëanor did before
VardaValar1: Fingolfin was not harming a lot of other elves
Curufinwion: Huuh. Thingol was a meanie.
ArPharazonV: Fingolfin wouldn't abandon his brother, despite what happened the other way around
VardaValar1: I would give the meanness crown to Feanor ahead of Thingol, and Thingol wasn't perfect.
Curufinwion: Along with Fingolfin most of the noldor crossed the Helkaraxe too, and perished. But IMHO Fingolfin was valiant
VardaValar1: No argument. Fingolfin was valiant.
ArPharazonV: sure was...
ArPharazonV: anyway, I gotta go
Curufinwion: Why, Varda? The Silmarils where Fëanor's work. What did Thingol to claim one?
VardaValar1: Mara mesta, Phar!
ArPharazonV: needless to say, I'm not a fan of Feanor, despite all his might, I consider him to be more evil than Pharazon...
ArPharazonV: but I'll keep out of this discussion for lack of sleep
VardaValar1: Thingol created a place on Middle-earth for the elves to live and become great.
VardaValar1: Phar had a lot of help from Sauron
ArPharazonV: is it useful to save and send? or would I better leave that up to you, if mine doesn't make a difference?
ArPharazonV: help, or influence?
Curufinwion: More evil than Pharazon?!
VardaValar1: Nothing before I came?
VardaValar1: I have it saved so far, Golden One
Curufinwion: :o" src="aolbart:/1024/id/2B000001 B7/2667743B3A6F">Pharazon allied with Sauron :O
VardaValar1: Go ahead and sleep
ArPharazonV: well, there was a minor discussion before you came
VardaValar1: Pharazon fought Sauron, and captured him, kinda
ArPharazonV: a bit of superbowl-stuff, though
Curufinwion: While Fëanor did all what he did because he wanted Morgoth's head
VardaValar1: don't need it then
VardaValar1: Get some sleep, good buddy : )
ArPharazonV: aye
ArPharazonV: I'll save anyway, for my own archival desires...
VardaValar1: Sauron corrupted Pharazon
VardaValar1: Sounds good : )
ArPharazonV: seems so weird to just leave a week without transcript
VardaValar1: Later, Phar!
VardaValar1: hehe
Curufinwion: As Melkor did to the sons of Finwë :-)
Curufinwion: Good night then Pharazon :-)
ArPharazonV: meh, I'll send as well... for the sake of tradition
VardaValar1: Feanor was already Feanor before Melkor
VardaValar1: but aye, Melkor did make an awful mess of things, with his insinuations
Curufinwion: Not that much, he was but a sulky dude
Curufinwion: Melkor poisoned his mind
VardaValar1: But Feanor was not the one who tried to offer amends
ArPharazonV: saved
VardaValar1: Feanor was the one to pull a sword
VardaValar1: Thanks, Phar
Curufinwion: He did the same to Fingolfin and Finarfin, though
Eonwe Valar: Melkor tried, but he didn't succeed too well with Fëanor.
Eonwe Valar: The most he managed was to turn up the hostility between Fëanor and his brothers.
Curufinwion: He aroused the Unrest of the Noldor, that was his work
Menelvagor Valar: hostility which managed to put a crack into the Noldorin that even the Nirnaeth could not repair.
Curufinwion: But after all it was but another consequence of the Mar of Arda
Curufinwion: As it was Míriel's death
ArPharazonV: sent
Menelvagor Valar: If he had not succeeded that day, the forces arrayed against him at the Nirnaeth would be too much even for a Vala to overcome.
Menelvagor Valar: for the Kinslaying at Alqualonde happened partly because of that.
Curufinwion: Yep, Fingon and Maedhros would win the battle
Menelvagor Valar: Doriath would have come.
Curufinwion: If only Gwindor had stayed in his place... :/
Menelvagor Valar: Feanor would not have instilled such cruelness upon Curufin and the other guy
VardaValar1: A united elfdom with the Valar. Morgoth and crew would have been cleared out
Curufinwion: Oooooooh
Curufinwion: Do you think Curufin was evil? ;-)
Curufinwion: :-D
VardaValar1: duh?
Menelvagor Valar: not evil, but he had a wicked touch to his actions.
VardaValar1: Great smileys there
Curufinwion: I asked Menel
ArPharazonV: I must take my leave from the creepy smilies!
ArPharazonV: Namarie all!
Menelvagor Valar: no wonder Huan left him.
VardaValar1: save yourself, Phar!
Curufinwion: Almarë Phar!
ArPharazonV: or their beady eyes shall roam around in my nightmares... and not looking forward to that
Curufinwion: Really, to speak quenya to Ar-Pharazon... tsk... ;-)
ArPharazonV: see ya next week
Curufinwion: The joys of the OOC life...
VardaValar1: See you then : )
ArPharazonV has left the room.
Curufinwion: Have a good week :-)
Menelvagor Valar: but to continue, Nargothrond would have come.
Menelvagor Valar: and then it would not have mattered had Gwindor held his place.
Menelvagor Valar: for Gwindor's advance swept Morgoth's plans apart, and the force arrayed in the west got even to the Gates of Thangorodrim.
Menelvagor Valar: It very nearly went astray for Morgoth there, had Maedhros been on time, and not waylaid by treacherous men.
Menelvagor Valar: Ulfang and Ulwarth (I think)
VardaValar1: Aye, and another Ul
Menelvagor Valar: just imagine if the entire might of Nargothrond and Doriath had been arrayed there.
VardaValar1: Maedhros might not have been waylaid, or had help against them
Curufinwion: Ulfgang the Black was the father and leader, yep
Menelvagor Valar: Balrog nor Dragon nor any other shadowspawn would have been able to withstand the might arrayed in Ered Wethrin.
Curufinwion: Maedhros' army got trapped between three armies :/
Menelvagor Valar: yes, but that was also because Fingon's (I think) army got pretty much destroyed before the gates of Thangorodrim.
Curufinwion: Because Gwindor dragged them
Menelvagor Valar: And some even survived because Turgon arrived at that point.
Curufinwion: What was Fingon to do?
Menelvagor Valar: nothing much.
Menelvagor Valar: but if Turgon had 10.000 spears at his command, how many do you think would have been added by Nargothrond and Doriath.
Curufinwion: Ufff
Menelvagor Valar: let's for the sake of argument say that those would stay in the rearguard as well.
Curufinwion: Tolkien emulated the Battle of the Somme with the Nirnaeth. There, 1 million soldiers were killed.
VardaValar1: Mostly, he was trying to explain his languages
Curufinwion: 10.000 spears were but a little army, think that Gondolin wasn't a society in war as Mithrim or Himring were
Menelvagor Valar: then at the moment that Fingon's army got surrounded by the forces of Thangorodrim, the rearguard would have fallen upon Morgoth's army not just from the rear, but from both flanks as well.
Menelvagor Valar: in terms of Gondolin, that is more or less the entire population.
Curufinwion: Yep, Varda, but to emulate the battle came after :-)
VardaValar1: It may have influenced him, as he understood it.
Menelvagor Valar: had Doriath and Nargothrond had a quarter of men at arms in comparison to Gondolin, they would have had standing armies numbering over a hundred thousand.
Menelvagor Valar: enough to sway the battle.
Curufinwion: A huge lot of Tolkien's friends and companions were killed there.
VardaValar1: True
Menelvagor Valar: especially since taken on average, every elf could take about half a dozen Orcs before going down himself.
Curufinwion: If Nargo and Doriath had sent their armies, they would have won the battle, doubtless
Menelvagor Valar: which means that for every 10 Orcs, only 2 elves needed to be present.
Curufinwion: Well, think in Hurin, 70 times he raised his axe ;-)
Menelvagor Valar: so, if the same holds true for the Dwarves of Belegost and the other one, it means that from the 1 million deaths, (and where many Orcs undoubtedly survived), it would mean that the Elvish army would be outnumbered of about 800.000.
Menelvagor Valar: to 200.000
Menelvagor Valar: and with the knowledge those 200.000 very nearly won..
Menelvagor Valar: means that another 100.000 or more from the other 2 aforementiond..
Curufinwion: I did read an essay about long ago, can't remember who wrote it, perhaps Michael Martinez
Menelvagor Valar: not even counting any dwarves from their capital, (later named Moria) who would have come if Doriath had come, for they had a healthy trade.
Menelvagor Valar: which in the end means, Morgoth would not even have had a chance.
Curufinwion: Khazad-Dûm was too far to summon them, Menel. Well, IMHO.
Menelvagor Valar: if he'd have sattelite tv and he knew the forces arrayed against him, he would have come out right then and there and threw himself at the mercy of the Elves.
VardaValar1: Given plenty of planning time and the help of the Valar? They would have had time.
VardaValar1: hehe Menel
Curufinwion: They had palantiri... ;-)
Curufinwion: Not the dwarves though
Menelvagor Valar: not if you consider the more than 100 years Maedhros gave to Morgoth to prepare for the assault.
VardaValar1: Send the nearest runner, np
Curufinwion: 100 years? The Long Peace lasted for 300 :-(
Menelvagor Valar: Maedhros sent warning to Morgoth about his gathering forces when he cleared Beleriand of Orcs, which had taken over after the Dagor Daglareb (if I'm not mistaken)
Menelvagor Valar: The long peace was broken by either Daglareb or Bracholach.
Menelvagor Valar: or some such.
Curufinwion: Well, they (Maedhros and Fingon) stopped several attempts, even with Dragons
Curufinwion: It was broken in 455 by the Dagor Bragollach, the battle of the sudden flame
Menelvagor Valar: there was only one attempt with Dragons, apart from the Nirnaeth.
Menelvagor Valar: thanks there :-)
Menelvagor Valar: been a while since I read the Sil.
Curufinwion: Yes, using Glaurung v.1.0 beta, and Fingon kicked him :P
Menelvagor Valar: actually.
VardaValar1: hehe
Menelvagor Valar: Glaurung v 1.0 beta came out on his own accord, against Morgoth's will.
Menelvagor Valar: and I believe he was kicked ass by dwarves from Nogrod.
Curufinwion: Nope, by Fingon in Mithrim (if I remember it well...)
Curufinwion: Dwarves (Azaghal) kicked Glaurung during the Nirnaeth
Menelvagor Valar: too bad I do not have my sil here.
Menelvagor Valar: one sec, gonna check out the extensive bookcase here and see if I can find a copy :-)
Curufinwion: Let me check it...
FarmerMaggotV has left the room.
Curufinwion: Chapter 13, Of the Return of the Noldor (near the end of the chapter)
Curufinwion: I think we scared the poor SirG3
Curufinwion: Scared or spammed! ;-)
Menelvagor Valar: ain't seen nothing yet.
Menelvagor Valar: you should see me, Phar, Varda And Eonwe on fire.
Menelvagor Valar: that's like massive spammage and topic changes within minutes.
Curufinwion: I know that feeling :P
Menelvagor Valar: :P
Menelvagor Valar: at any rate.
Curufinwion: Well, there you have the quote :-)
Menelvagor Valar: There's like a million LotR things in this house, but not a book in sight.
Curufinwion: *laughs!*
Menelvagor Valar: swords and helmets and standards and what else..
Menelvagor Valar: and I can NOT find any books!
Curufinwion: You got the quote, right? (Just being sure)
Menelvagor Valar: btw, just a little question :-)
Menelvagor Valar: what quote?
Menelvagor Valar: just got chapter 13, of the return of the noldor (near the end of the chapter)
Curufinwion: That of Glaurung I posted like 5 mins ago
Menelvagor Valar: is that between "let me chek it..." and "FarmerMaggotV has left the room."?
Menelvagor Valar: if so, it did not show on my screen.
Curufinwion: !!
Curufinwion: Now?
Menelvagor Valar: no.
Menelvagor Valar: just "!!"
Curufinwion: God
Curufinwion: Why?
Menelvagor Valar: try dividing it into smaller pieces?
VardaValar1: not showing here either
Menelvagor Valar: it could be the message is too long for AIM to handle.
Curufinwion: Now? I sent it in two pieces
Menelvagor Valar: nope.
Curufinwion: @#~€¬)(/&%$·2
Menelvagor Valar: try to send it in a PM?
VardaValar1: Just odd symbols that time
VardaValar1: Are you just typing it in, or copying off something?
Menelvagor Valar: Again after a hundred years Glaurung, the first of the Urulóki, the fire-drakes of the North, issued from Angband's gates by night.
Menelvagor Valar: He was yet young and scarce half-grown, for long and slow is the life of the dragons, but the Elves fled before him to Ered Wethrin and Dorthonion in dismay;
Menelvagor Valar: and he defiled the fields of Ard-galen. Then Fingon prince of Hithlum rode against him with archers on horseback, and hemmed him round with a ring of swift riders;
Curufinwion: Nor by PM?
Menelvagor Valar: and Glaurung could not endure their darts, being not yet come to his full armoury, and he fled back to Angband, and came not forth again for many years.
Menelvagor Valar: I got it.
Curufinwion: Cool!
VardaValar1: It was just reallllly long
Menelvagor Valar: you see it, Varda?
VardaValar1: Great quote!
Menelvagor Valar: good :-)
VardaValar1: I see what Menel put
Menelvagor Valar: good :-)
Menelvagor Valar: indeed.
Menelvagor Valar: guess I'll have yet another book on my "to reread list" *sigh*
VardaValar1: hehe
Curufinwion: Really, it was 110 words only
VardaValar1: Tolkien did it agian
VardaValar1: again
Curufinwion: he did what?
Menelvagor Valar: you can have 110 times hihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihihi and it would be even worse on IM's than the quote you gave *grin*
VardaValar1: Making Menel re-read yet again
Menelvagor Valar: people would, of course, stop reading after the first 3 or four "hi"s, but hey, who cares? :-D
Curufinwion: To re-read is great ;-)
Menelvagor Valar: well, unfortunately, right now, I've got to read the Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
VardaValar1: We re-re-read a lot too
Menelvagor Valar: reread the entire Wheel of Time series (already finished book 4)
Menelvagor Valar: heh
Menelvagor Valar: LotR would come down to re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-read.
VardaValar1: Go LotR
Menelvagor Valar: Sil would only come down to re-re-re-re-re-re-re-read.
VardaValar1: The bits we re-read if added together would be enormous too
Menelvagor Valar: yeah well, with all the things I am doing, plus have just started doing, it would quite frankly surprise me if I got round to rereading the Sil before the end of this year.
VardaValar1: just read bits when you need : )
Curufinwion: Ouch
Menelvagor Valar: that's the thing, I like reading the entirety of it.

After-meeting:
Curufinwion: It's 2 AM here, people, and I must wake up at 6.30 ;-)
VardaValar1: me too
VardaValar1: Scat!
Menelvagor Valar: otherwise I'd spent as much time reading, as looking things up :P
Menelvagor Valar: Curu... same time, wake-up call at 6 :-D
Curufinwion: Western Europe time, eh? :-D
Menelvagor Valar: hmmm... a bit of good old times here, ain't it, Varda? :P
VardaValar1: You bet : )
Menelvagor Valar: although it did get to 4 or 5 PM (which is of course, 9-10 PM CST)
VardaValar1: It was fun meeting you : )
Menelvagor Valar: at times back then :-)
Menelvagor Valar: aye, Curu.
Menelvagor Valar: where exactly are you from?
VardaValar1: We've pulled a seven hour in AIM too
Curufinwion: *comes from Spain*
Menelvagor Valar: Ola!
Curufinwion: You?
Menelvagor Valar: (Icecream)
Curufinwion has left the room.
Menelvagor Valar: darn.
Curufinwion has entered the room.
Menelvagor Valar: wb :-)
Curufinwion: God
Curufinwion: Was I kicked or what?
VardaValar1: Eru did send an email
VardaValar1: crashed out
Menelvagor Valar: I'm from the country that has filthy rich people coming from to settle anywhere there's sun and good looking women :-)
Menelvagor Valar: Florida is full of my (ex) countrymen :P
Curufinwion: So you come from...? :P
Menelvagor Valar: The best there is in speed skating, the best international soccer team (on paper), home of Harry Potter as Prime Minister, but worse, etc.
Curufinwion: UK, ok :P
Menelvagor Valar: Blair is not Harry Potter LOL
Menelvagor Valar: England does not have the best Soccer team either.
Glorfindel VG has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Welcome back
VardaValar1: Crash too?
Menelvagor Valar: and nor does the UK have the best (if at all) any speed skaters.
Curufinwion: Of course, but I won't argue with a hooligan just in case ;-)
Menelvagor Valar: Does the name Louis van Gaal ring a bell?
Curufinwion: Sure it does :P
Menelvagor Valar: Countrymen.
Menelvagor Valar: man*
Curufinwion: Hollander :P
Menelvagor Valar: of course, he's the enemy, cuz he used to coach Ajax, and I'm a PSV fan.
Menelvagor Valar: now he coaches AZ, and I am still a PSV fan, which makes him the enemy still :-)
Curufinwion: ¬¬
Menelvagor Valar: *grin*
VardaValar1: The Honored Enemy
Menelvagor Valar: true at that, Varda.
Curufinwion: As long as you don't praise the Real Madrid... ¬¬
Menelvagor Valar: who they have these days anyways?
Menelvagor Valar: Vigo?
Menelvagor Valar: (I'm a little out of the loop)
Curufinwion: Who they have what?
Menelvagor Valar: the only foreign team I cheer for is Manchester United anyways.
Curufinwion: The Barça is in the top of our league (again, yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaayy)
Menelvagor Valar: and in World Cups, I am, of course and without a doubt, in favor of the US team.
Glorfindel VG: Where is that one lotr trivia chatroom again?
Menelvagor Valar: and if the UK royally beats the dutch team, I am the first not to run out onto the streets yelling victory because I have no desire to get lynched.
VardaValar1: For future reference, Tolkien Gateway is on our Links page
VardaValar1: looking it up for you : )
Curufinwion: *laughs!*
Menelvagor Valar: and with that, I'm going to save the transcripts, send them, bid everyone good night, and hope my sleep tomorrow during class isn't too much disturbed by boring teachers *grin*
VardaValar1: http://hyarion.gotdns.com/java/
VardaValar1: lol Menel!
VardaValar1: Sleep well
Curufinwion: *follows Menel and bids farewell* :-)
VardaValar1: Srekal/Hyarion would answer if he were paying attention : )
Curufinwion: It was a pleasure to meet you, I hope to see you all next sunday :-)
VardaValar1: Thank you, Menelvagor, for the transcripts!
VardaValar1: We hang around during the week some too : )
VardaValar1: Our names are on the QuickAIM page on our site
Menelvagor Valar: aye, we do.
Curufinwion: Oh, I'll put an eye then
Menelvagor Valar: I am around during reasonable times on weekdays almost every day.
Menelvagor Valar: reasonable times being into the early night Europe time :-)
Curufinwion: Is there a way to join this place automatically or so? How can I save it?
VardaValar1: which place?
VardaValar1: Bookmark
VardaValar1: Everything is found from Valar Guild
Curufinwion: To enter the room too?
Srekal86: I'm paying attention :-)
VardaValar1: They were asking about your trivia bot
VardaValar1: Also, where do you go during Tolkien talk? Bet you toss in some good comments!
VardaValar1: Curu, you want the bot or the QuickAIM?
Srekal86: super bowl is on, sorry.
VardaValar1: ohh
VardaValar1: Get back to your super bowl : )
Srekal86: :p
Curufinwion: Varda, I don't know what is that, remember, newbie on AIM ;-)
Srekal86: network troubles again too :$ /me rips his hair out
Menelvagor Valar: sent.
VardaValar1: If you're asking about QuickAIM, that's on the Valar Guild site, a list to help contact
VardaValar1: Thanks, Menel!
VardaValar1: Go to the index page
Menelvagor Valar: no prob.
VardaValar1: Member info
Menelvagor Valar: and going now.
VardaValar1: QuickAIM
VardaValar1: Mara mesta
Menelvagor Valar: "Keyboardface" is starting to seem an interesting idea now.
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/arathorn/quickaim/quick aim.htm
Menelvagor Valar: btw.
Menelvagor Valar: is "starting" grammatically correct?
VardaValar1: Push away from the keyboard!
VardaValar1: Yes
VardaValar1: Beginning would be better
Curufinwion: Ah cool, I bookmark this url :-D
Menelvagor Valar: because I think to "start" something is just a matter of a split second.
Curufinwion: Now, good night, folks!
Curufinwion has left the room.
Menelvagor Valar: so it cannot last for a finite amount of time.
VardaValar1: Good night!
Menelvagor Valar: beginning does seem better, aye.
VardaValar1: It is more correct. The other is used in speech sometimes though
Menelvagor Valar: good to know :-)
Menelvagor Valar: will come in handy :-)
VardaValar1: Get some sleep : ) It's been a very fun meeting!
Menelvagor Valar: It's been good to be on fire again.
Menelvagor Valar: has been quite a while.
VardaValar1: Aye!
VardaValar1: Need new blood
Menelvagor Valar: I think it's been like 2-3 months since I've been active in a discussion..
VardaValar1: About time then : )
Menelvagor Valar: yeah.
Menelvagor Valar: I agree.
Menelvagor Valar: unfortunately, it does get out of my sleep :'(
VardaValar1: Go! Go!
Menelvagor Valar has left the room.
VardaValar1: 3 and half hour meeting. Namarie all!
