VardaValar1: I just rolled into the driveway from the Star Wars movie
Menelvagor Valar: it's cool
FladrifV: is it better than 5?
Menelvagor Valar: probably even better when I see it a 2nd time :-)
Menelvagor Valar: heck no
Eonwe Valar: We're covered for everyone in my Valar Guild List then.
VardaValar1: I just saw it the second time :-)
Menelvagor Valar: 4, 5 and 6 were all better than 3, but 3 was
definitely better than 1 and 2
FladrifV: not agree I do
ArPharazonV: have yet to see 3... hadn't much chance this week ;-)
Shaggyjoe has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: will you be watching it in Leiden some day soon, Flad?
Orodreth V: Did Lucas redeem himself for Jar Jar?
FarmerMaggotV: ah, yay
Orodreth V: Hmm.
Orodreth V: I might actually see it then.
aranfinwe: is it really possible?
FladrifV: whell ewoks arent much better than jar jar :-)
Menelvagor Valar: he's having that obnoxious 3PO's memory wiped!
FladrifV: I personally dislike part 6
Eonwe Valar: I liked the ewoks :}
VardaValar1: Lucas said he put 60% of the story in this last movie, of
the prequel story that is
ArPharazonV: haven't seen the other 5 in a looong while...
Eonwe Valar: the Ewoks were at least funny :}
Shaggyjoe: I like dark Jedi
Shaggyjoe: I'd be a sith no doubt.
Orodreth V: I just want to say..
Orodreth V: WoW ownz
Eonwe Valar: Besides, they live in Endor, an dwe can't hate a species
that lives in Middle-Earth :}
Shaggyjoe: Ownz my boxors maybe.
FarmerMaggotV: I just want to say MIME types are evil =P
Menelvagor Valar: KotoR ownz just as much :-)
ArPharazonV: Endor... heh
FladrifV: i like 3 above 6 and 4 and 1 :-)
Menelvagor Valar: anyways, time is fleeting, Varda, shall we get this
meeting underway? :-)
Shaggyjoe: yeah 3 really did have some awesome scenes, and ... bah.
Shaggyjoe: Gelmir has a question.
Eonwe Valar: I'll be chairign today :}
VardaValar1: Eonwe is chair today
Eonwe Valar: chairing even :}
Shaggyjoe: <raises hand>
Eonwe Valar: GO ahead Gelmir
Menelvagor Valar: then I redirect my question to Eonwe :-)
Shaggyjoe: <shakes hand around>
VardaValar1: Menel, have mercy, I just ran from the driveway a second
Eonwe Valar: Let Gelmir get his question off his chest :}
Menelvagor Valar: of course, just have to ask the question :-)
VardaValar1: We have something called Instant Message if you need it
any time ;-)
Shaggyjoe: What is the state of Valar at the moment. Honest answer, I
dont want numbers, I want oppions.
Menelvagor Valar: as strong as ever
Shaggyjoe: glad to hear that. good.
VardaValar1: We just don't see you much, Gelmir ;-)
Shaggyjoe: I've been out of town for 3 weeks.
Shaggyjoe: no pc.
VardaValar1: Welcome back
ArPharazonV: we were dying a long time in War3... at least WoW seems to
have 'upped' the gaming activity a bit
VardaValar1: I was never that keen on WC3, sorry
Shaggyjoe: thanks, Im going back out tomarrow for another week or two.
VardaValar1: The Encyc people are still active, WoW active
Shaggyjoe: Im "keen" in daoc.. a Keen.. lurikeen rather.
Eonwe Valar: We tried to have stuff for WC3, but hardly anyone seemed
ArPharazonV: I think LotrO will bring up the activity even more, if
people can afford a new MMO, and it's a bit good
Menelvagor Valar: hehe, Gelmir :-)
Menelvagor Valar: Gelmirv still your main?
Shaggyjoe: Starcraft > warcraft
Shaggyjoe: I also Play Gelmirval
Shaggyjoe: my eldy.
Orodreth V: SC >>> WC
Menelvagor Valar: cool
Shaggyjoe: both now back in Wolves of Valinor
ArPharazonV: personally, I liked war3 a lot more than SC... but that's
Menelvagor Valar: light eld, or void?
Eonwe Valar: Now that we've answered that, everyoen ready to begin the
Shaggyjoe: light subspec. : )
Shaggyjoe: <shuts up>
ArPharazonV: SC compared to War3... close call for me, perhaps SC a bit
Menelvagor Valar: of course, better elds are void, huge range and big
time damage :-)
Shaggyjoe: <strains not to continue the debate>
Eonwe Valar: OK guys, Elen Sila Lumenn Omentielvo.
Menelvagor Valar: unfortunately, near as much aggro as chanters
Menelvagor Valar: *zips up*
Eonwe Valar: Membership:
Eonwe Valar: Orome
posted on the Forum, telling us he's in St. Petersburg, Russia :}
VardaValar1: He also told us from WoW :-)}
Eonwe Valar: Ah, lucky you :}
Eonwe Valar: Glad to hear his account let's him get on from over there
as well :}
Eonwe Valar: That seems to be it for Member News, unless anyone has
VardaValar1: I have a little
VardaValar1: At my house is a small guild meeting : )
Eonwe Valar: hehe :}
VardaValar1: Elwing and Meriadoc and Arwen came over to join Fangorn,
Eowyn, Bilbo, Sauron, and myself
VardaValar1: Dreamlord-(TV) phoned yesterday from
VardaValar1: He used to be Irmo-(Valar) the first one
Menelvagor Valar: he's over in US from Danmark?
VardaValar1: He will be heading back from the University to Denmark in
Menelvagor Valar: Denmark*
VardaValar1: He's been taking classes at the University of Wisconsin
VardaValar1: the one with the huge Tolkien library :-)
Menelvagor Valar: cool
VardaValar1: He often emails, but this was a phone call
Menelvagor Valar: if he phones in again, tell him I said hi :-)
VardaValar1: He caught our giant group
VardaValar1: You can email him : )
VardaValar1: See the Tolkien-only member page for contact info
Menelvagor Valar: never been much of an email fan beyond the usual
VardaValar1: Then send him your 2 sentences : )
Shaggyjoe: hop on Daoc and say hey to us
Shaggyjoe: we run all the time.
VardaValar1: Not to be confused with the current Irmo-(Valar) or Yrma,
Ymra in DAoC
VardaValar1: They are not the same person
Shaggyjoe: we also use Ventrilo Voice chat to talk.
FladrifV has left the room.
VardaValar1: Dreamlord changed to Tolkien-only status when he had to go
into the University and had no way to comp game with us
VardaValar1: I'm done with my member report
Eonwe Valar: Thanks Varda.
Eonwe Valar: Any more member news?
Shaggyjoe: Who wants to play Diablo 1?! <zips>
Eonwe Valar: Orodreth
says he'll be able to join us in WoW soon.
Eonwe Valar: OK, on to Web News:
Eonwe Valar: Two New articles for the Encyclopedia.
Eonwe Valar: Both by Haleth.
Eonwe Valar: The first is on Haleth,
and the second is on Bullroarer.
Eonwe Valar: Also, I'll be doing some webwork in the upcoming weeks,
since now I havea bit of freetime, and I don't want to spend all of it
on WoW :}
Shaggyjoe has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Any other Web news?
VardaValar1: Yes, a little
Eonwe Valar: Go ahead, Varda :}
VardaValar1: I'm still working on the Encyc making all the articles
into separate pages
Shaggyjoe has entered the room.
Shaggyjoe: nevermind there we go
VardaValar1: Some are like mini-sites, so it takes a long time
VardaValar1: such as Gandalf's
VardaValar1: It will eventually all be like that and we will have the
alphabetical system up
VardaValar1: No articles will be unreachable while the work goes on
VardaValar1: Your input will not disappear
VardaValar1: I could use help if you spot wrecked links!
VardaValar1: I'm done
Eonwe Valar: Check the Glorfindel links :}
VardaValar1: You had a recent problem? Jotting down
Eonwe Valar: One of them leads to the wrong paper last I checked
(couple of weeks ago)
Eonwe Valar: Any more Web News?
VardaValar1: The two on the same page have bad links
Eonwe Valar: OK, on the Gaming News :}
VardaValar1: The ones off the page seem ok
Eonwe Valar: First, an announcement about MEO
Eonwe Valar: As hopefully all of you have heard, Turbine acquired the
license to make MMORPGS based on LotR.
Eonwe Valar: The license to make games period was and still is held by
Vivendi, so Turbine apparently negotiated to get that particular
Eonwe Valar: In addition to this, MEO has taken on a new name:
Eonwe Valar: Lord of the Rings: Shadows of Angmar.
Eonwe Valar: *Lord of the Rings Online: ..
Eonwe Valar: or simply LotRO
Eonwe Valar: They've updated their page as well, so any links you have
to the old page should lead you to the new one.
Shaggyjoe: can you give the link for us uninformed?
VardaValar1: They've improved their Forum's Search function
Eonwe Valar: one sec, I'll try to grab it.
VardaValar1: Links are all available from the Forum and Index if you
lose your note paper from today
Eonwe Valar: www.lotro.turbine.com
ArPharazonV: lotro... suggestive name, that...
ArPharazonV: *ding! you've just won the lotro!
Eonwe Valar: Screenshots, concept art, and some avatars to use in chat
Menelvagor Valar: easy to make a typo: lotto
VardaValar1: Can also take you there, our branch page
ArPharazonV: exactly, menel
Shaggyjoe: sounds like something astro would say! "Lotro Geooorge"
Shaggyjoe: <-- Dork
Eonwe Valar: It seems they are doing their best to make stuff fit in
the world, for though they are limited to officially using only LotR
and the Hobbit, they do point out where they use books like Unfinished
Tales to attempt to justify or name
Eonwe Valar: things.
Menelvagor Valar: sorry to interrupy any further, but going to bed,
rather tired. I will leave my comp on, so I can save when I wake up
ArPharazonV: the Jetsons? I knew I recognized it...
Eonwe Valar: Now for WoW:
ArPharazonV: Namarie Menel
Eonwe Valar: I was recently reminded of a spot in the Barrens where the
developers of WoW put a shrine to honor one of their coworkers who
passed away during the making of the game.
Eonwe Valar: I was thinking that, if we had enough interest, it might
be cool for a group of us to travel to the shrine and sort of pay
Shaggyjoe: they cant use the sil?
Shaggyjoe: so we wont have any signs of the Vala?
Eonwe Valar: (On MEO)No Gelmir, Turbine can't
Shaggyjoe: well thats just crap
VardaValar1: It's a licensing problem
Eonwe Valar: There are mentions of the Valar in LotR, so there can be
mentionings of the Valar, but at no point did Ulmo come up out of a
wave during the War of the Ring.
Orodreth V has left the room.
Shaggyjoe: I wanted to build a boat and go sailing off to make my peace
Shaggyjoe: : )
Eonwe Valar: The Valar didn't make themselves obvious in the Third Age,
so it would be out of place anyway.
VardaValar1: You can make your peace with our Ulmo, who plays WoW :-)
Shaggyjoe: I am enlightened!
Shaggyjoe: does he?
ArPharazonV: ... the barrens? I just checked out the entire zone on
Monday/Tuesday.... where's that Shrine?
ArPharazonV: sorry if I'm late, catching up with web-stuff
Shaggyjoe: me thinks he didnt take to me well, I was a snottly
arrogant, obnoxious kid then.. but anyway.
VardaValar1: Heru Rasa means Lord of the Waters and he is present right
Shaggyjoe: Le sigh, I might ahve to get WoW.
Shaggyjoe: well well hey bud ; )
Eonwe Valar: It's located atop a mountain.
Eonwe Valar: You apparently just had Confession, Gelmir :}
Shaggyjoe: glad, I am as well.
ArPharazonV: ...sigh... loads of mountains... how many did I climb? 3?
Eonwe Valar: I'd not sure the name of the area right now Phar, but if
the European guys GUild guys would like to do the same thing, it might
be cool to have us all doing it on the same day. Again, this depends on
the level of interest we have.
ArPharazonV: is it located in the southern half? as below Ratchet? I've
only been there a short while... just to get the place on my map
VardaValar1: Want to do it during a Friday run or after the meeting? :-)
Eonwe Valar: Which is why I'm mentioning it here and will also be
posting my question to the Forums, so that I know if we have a group
who is interested in doing this.
Eonwe Valar: That depends on when we can get the most interested
VardaValar1: You and me makes at least two!
Eonwe Valar: I would like this to be an Event.
ArPharazonV: well, seeing as Menel is asleep, after this meeting would
probably not be the best time for Europe ;-)
Eonwe Valar: heh, Good point, Phar.
ArPharazonV: as well, I don't really desire to WoW right now... flashy
lights not good and lots of action not good for my dizzy head today :-)
Shaggyjoe: diablo... diablo... diablo...
Eonwe Valar: I was thinking we could bear flowers instead of Weapons
(which can be achieved through a simple enough quest)
ArPharazonV: really? where?
VardaValar1: Flower shop too : ) Held in off-hand
ArPharazonV: ah, yes... unequip main, and it only shows off-hand
VardaValar1: StormWind has the flower shop
VardaValar1: What quest?
Eonwe Valar: Aye, flowers are quite easy to get, and would show
(especially if we manage a large group) that we are not there to raid
Eonwe Valar: It's one in Redridge.
Eonwe Valar: I'm pretty sure it's the one where you have to kill a
VardaValar1: So we could do that, then run to the Shrine?
ArPharazonV: any around northern Kalimdor? Teldrassil, Darkshore,
Ashenvale, Stonetalon? That and the Barrrens are the only zones I've
been in so far...
Eonwe Valar: Might try Darnassus for a flower vendor.
ArPharazonV: I'll give it a shot
VardaValar1: Or have a buddy mail you one
ArPharazonV: or just check a site... brb
VardaValar1: Fangorn emails roses to me, so it can be done
Eonwe Valar: Aw, how sweet :}
VardaValar1: So anyone on Lothar besides me want to join Eonwe on the
Flowers for the Shrine run?
ArPharazonV: hmm.... herbalism, reagents, poison... but can't really
find anything for an off-hand flower
VardaValar1: They aren't killer objects, so those folk might not bother
ArPharazonV: you'd think http://www.worldofwar.net/cartography/citie
s/darnassus.php might mention one
Eonwe Valar: There's no required level to join in on this, obviously :}
ArPharazonV: that is, if you can make it to the Barrens as Alliance :'
Eonwe Valar: The creatures in the Barrens aren't that high a level, and
if we need to march from Darkshore, we can easily dispatch anything
that tries to object ot our passing through.
Eonwe Valar: I know ways into the Barrens
Eonwe Valar: I've been through a couple of ways
ArPharazonV: including the Barren-guards? Oh well, I guess you found
the sneaky way with the burned out out-posts
Eonwe Valar: Yep
ArPharazonV: north of the mountain at the pass from Stonetalon, is the
one I use
HeruRasa: there is a path from Darkshore
Eonwe Valar: And I'm pretty sure THeramore offers safe passage into the
Barrens as well
ArPharazonV: Theramore.. haven't been there yet
HeruRasa: the Marsh is hardly safe, but can be run if you stay on the
ArPharazonV: should be doable by boat from Menethil
Eonwe Valar: It's the other ship that sails from Menethil Harbor.
Eonwe Valar: We're not there to fight, so it's doable :}
ArPharazonV: can you imagine beating up monsters with a flower?
Eonwe Valar: Well, my Paladin doesn't have dual-wield, so he'd only be
shielding himself with a flower :}
ArPharazonV: and now I'm going back to my forum-checking... still have
7 pages of a thread to go through, and then plenty of other site
Eonwe Valar: So, Phar seems interested on the Europe side. Varda and I
are in for Lothar. Anyone else?
VardaValar1: Then we can ask who is not afk ;-)
HeruRasa: in for what? :-)
Eonwe Valar: Lol
HeruRasa: climbing mountains?
Eonwe Valar: I gotta ask you scroll :} SOunds more impressive the way I
typed it :}
Eonwe Valar: up there :}
ArPharazonV: still don't know what mountain it is... but perhaps
someone can point me to it in-game
Eonwe Valar: I'll go back and get better directions.
HeruRasa: The Barrens is huge
Eonwe Valar: I knwo wher eI'm going though, just not how to point to it
on a map :}
ldmap/barrens.php can you make directions based on this?
ArPharazonV: ah, ok
Eonwe Valar: I'll get directions, and post them on the Forum if
everyoen would like.
Eonwe Valar: Anything else on this?
VardaValar1: Or join us and go along
Eonwe Valar: Well, I would prefer the join us part, but if the European
group is going to go they need to know where as well :}
ArPharazonV: indeed :-)
Eonwe Valar: I could e-mail them to Phar and made him Tour Guide for
the European Group?
Eonwe Valar: :}
VardaValar1: Forum is a good idea too, in any case
ArPharazonV: sure, I check the Forum daily as well
ArPharazonV: if I'm healthy :-)
Eonwe Valar: Anyone think I should attempt a group-mail to the WoW
group to make sure everyone's heard of this?
HeruRasa: just use MOTD
Eonwe Valar: Despite so many other places one can read it, there's a
chance it could be missed.
Eonwe Valar: I'll try, but it can be hard to fit in soem messages due
to length limits.
HeruRasa: learn to write small ones :-)
VardaValar1: Ask Orome for lessons ;-)
VardaValar1: Better yet, we can volunteer him to write it!
Eonwe Valar: Heh, was thinking something along those lines, Varda.
VardaValar1: Message of the Day is a good idea
VardaValar1: hard to miss, aye Ulmo
Eonwe Valar: As long as everyone didn't turn guild chat off in their
chat logs :}
VardaValar1: If they did, then they are not interested in a guild run
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
Eonwe Valar: OK, Guess that's settled; I'll sue Message of the Day and
the Forum to gather interest.
Eonwe Valar: sue = use
VardaValar1: I'll add to the News as well
Eonwe Valar: Thanks Varda.
Eonwe Valar: Any other gamings news?
VardaValar1: Shaggyjoe wants to play D1 :-)
Eonwe Valar: Guess not, so Let's start gettign those Tolkien Topics :}
Eonwe Valar: If anyone is left awake to chat :}
VardaValar1: All present, say Aiya!
Eonwe Valar: Aiya
VardaValar1: mm hmm
Shaggyjoe: I was looking for my cd
Shaggyjoe: I cant find it
Shaggyjoe: le sigh.
Druidfalconwolf has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Maybe you can come up with a Tolkien topic for us then : )
ArPharazonV: still reading the thread, sorry :-)
VardaValar1: Aiya Haleth : )
VardaValar1: We're just now picking out a Tolkien topic
Druidfalconwolf: I see.
VardaValar1: Congrats on making so many nice articles recently :-)
Druidfalconwolf: hehe, my pleasure
VardaValar1: Haleth used the unusual method of checking the list on the
Encyc saying which articles have been requested by readers
VardaValar1: A lengthy list
Eonwe Valar: How unsual!
VardaValar1: She let me delete a few :-)
Eonwe Valar: I don't knwo if I like that plan.. It's almost as if she
knows what to look for..
Druidfalconwolf: I'm working away on more, though, especially once
school's over :-)
Eonwe Valar: :}
VardaValar1: More power to you!
VardaValar1: We also have a lot of names mentioned in the Encyc with no
links to work on
VardaValar1: Don't count the alphabetical lists, as those are part of
the ongoing navigation work
VardaValar1: Count the ones for subjects for now
Druidfalconwolf: I'm thinking about doing some more stuff from the
requested list, then going through the rest of the Encyc for more
VardaValar1: and deliver that KO, aye
VardaValar1: That should keep you busy for quite a while1
VardaValar1: Also, whatever catches your interest
Druidfalconwolf: yup... but I like writing...
VardaValar1: It shows
Eonwe Valar: In other news, we're still waiting on PBv4, despite the "In 24 hours"
message that's been at the top of the board for more than a week now :}
VardaValar1: The new Forum version, with nifty new features
Eonwe Valar: PB = Proboards
Druidfalconwolf: *blush* I haven't checked out the forum for a while
ArPharazonV: I thought that was already done? I got a flash-thingy last
Eonwe Valar: the guys who created the board script
Eonwe Valar: I did too, but they didn't update
ArPharazonV: saying they were upgrading, and I couldn't access the
forum I think
Eonwe Valar: Earlier in the week, I asked Menelvagor, and he told me
they were close,.. server 20 I think.
Shaggyjoe: OT QUESTION: is there a website where I can download Diablo
for a small fee?
Eonwe Valar: (We're on server 22)
Eonwe Valar: You might be able to buy it from Blizzard
Eonwe Valar: try Blizzard's online store.
VardaValar1: Diablo is not very expensive to buy - I've seen it at
Eonwe Valar: otherwise a store is the best bet.
Eonwe Valar: aye, I think it's $10 now?
Shaggyjoe: Wal-mart doesnt have it anymore.
Shaggyjoe: I just called them
Eonwe Valar: SC and BW each are about $10
VardaValar1: Then off to Blizzard for you
Shaggyjoe: bah that'd take like 6-8 weeks..
Druidfalconwolf: hmm... can you actually play D2 on a 56k connection?
Eonwe Valar: Got a Gamestop or EB in your area?
VardaValar1: I did, Haleth
Shaggyjoe: yes Im talking about D1
Druidfalconwolf: Diablo 2
Eonwe Valar: I have played D2 on a 56k :}
VardaValar1: She changed subject, a common occurrence here ;-)
Druidfalconwolf: might buy it then without telling parents
ArPharazonV: I've got Diablo.... I think Flad copied it for me some
time ago... not sure anymore if I'll go for DB2 as well
Druidfalconwolf: sorry! :-)
ArPharazonV: if I do, it'll be buying the battlechest
HeruRasa: can play EQ on 56k conn, the problem is your graphics card
Eonwe Valar: I play WoW on a 56k, and the chances are MEO will also be
played on a 56k :}
Shaggyjoe: Im playing on a 100mbps DSL connection, I just need to get
another Gig of Ram.
VardaValar1: I played EQ on 56 dial-up also
ArPharazonV: hey! no MEO! LotrO!
Druidfalconwolf: night ask a friend to give me a copy then... problem's
the CD key
Shaggyjoe: LotrO George!
Eonwe Valar: MEO forever! :}
Shaggyjoe: Ive got the cd here and no key
VardaValar1: It is on the box
ArPharazonV: spam: you've just one 2 million dollars on the Lotro!
Shaggyjoe: Ive got the CD, no manual nor jewel case.
VardaValar1: Unless you write it on your CD with a Sharpie
Eonwe Valar: I'll start calling it LotRO eventually, like when I have
to (MEO is just so much more convenient :})
VardaValar1: I may have to leave shortly. We're having a barbecue
Shaggyjoe: mm bbq samich
VardaValar1: Maybe we can start the rp up again soon
Eonwe Valar: Hehe, already had barbecue :} but will be leaving shortly
to watch RotK EE :}
Eonwe Valar: I'll be posting again soon
Shaggyjoe: <runs to Varda's grill and tosses some Garlic on the
Shaggyjoe: always gotta have garlic.
VardaValar1: It appears to be more of a battle game than an immersion
in Middle-earth now
Eonwe Valar: I was wiating on the new version for a while there, but it
hasn't come yet so won't hold up the story any more.
VardaValar1: but should not hurt our rp
VardaValar1: We were a battle-group anyway
Eonwe Valar: *version of the Forum
VardaValar1: That really should not hurt either
ArPharazonV: small hint: when getting a copy from a friend:
Eonwe Valar: I explained that in the MEO RP discusison thread too.
ArPharazonV: always make sure he gives you a cd-key with it :-)
VardaValar1: I'm still waiting to hear our Avar friend's tale : )
Eonwe Valar: Well, there was bound to be some battle in the game, Varda
ArPharazonV: bbq.... always good... I'm almost getting an appetite for
frikandels and hamburgers again....
VardaValar1: If no one else is going to join the rp, then we can send
away our extra warriors soon
Eonwe Valar: But what I've read from the Developer diaries gives me
hope that there's a story that goes with the fighting, not just "I need
scales. Kill me some murlocs."
Druidfalconwolf: I don't think I can... I've been rather busy :-(
VardaValar1: Battle is fine, just nothing but battle makes it no
different from all the other games
Shaggyjoe: Diablo is currently out of stock on the blizzard store..
Shaggyjoe: have to buy the 40$ battle chest.
VardaValar1: We've been busy too, but only have to look at it once or
twice a week
VardaValar1: Or wait
ArPharazonV: rather busy, Haleth?
Shaggyjoe: I want to play now.. Iron Man with 3 people.
Druidfalconwolf: my brother moved in
Eonwe Valar: I agree Varda. There should be more than battle.
Druidfalconwolf: with two puppies
ArPharazonV: and yet writing ten-dozen articles?
Shaggyjoe: type of pups?
Druidfalconwolf: lol, that's stuff I can do offline
Eonwe Valar: Character and story/plot development.
ArPharazonV: story/plot-development... bit hard in an MMO, especially
with a fixed time-setting like this
Eonwe Valar: Sure, you can learn from a battle that your character is
willing/unwilling to fight, but unless you develop that character
further, you won't understand why.
Druidfalconwolf: and is the RPG based on Tolkien's books or from a game?
Eonwe Valar: Turbine seems to be commited to trying :}
Druidfalconwolf: I'm a bit confused on that.
Eonwe Valar: RPG?
ArPharazonV: basically based on the LotrO game, but...
Eonwe Valar: LotRO is based on the books, and so is the RP
Druidfalconwolf: then I'd probably have no clue what's going on...
never played it.
VardaValar1: The rp in the Forum is based on the books, but we have
members who go a little bonkers
ArPharazonV: I hardly know anything about the game, and I just go with
lotr and the Hobbit.... the books... and I throw in more of my own
stuff than I should ;-)
VardaValar1: The game is not out yet, so no one has played it
Eonwe Valar: Characters should try to fit with the books.
VardaValar1: They have a Forum
VardaValar1: Mainly we are just playing in Middle-earth and we are
Eonwe Valar: An Elf should not be speaking Haradric, Men should not be
riding wolves, stuff liek that.
VardaValar1: I've been called
Druidfalconwolf: I'll check it out later
VardaValar1: I can scroll back, or may have to turn over the comp to
one of the many here
Druidfalconwolf: after writing an article on whichever subject catches
my fancy ;-)
VardaValar1: Namarie for now
Eonwe Valar: If you've read the LotR (and you have or you wouldn't be
here) you should have an idea of what to expect from characters and
their respective races.
Eonwe Valar: Take care Varda :}
VardaValar1: Oh, WoW players, that's Elwing operating EldestEnt
Eonwe Valar: Ah :}
VardaValar1: not a usual thing, keeping him from dying while he is afk
ArPharazonV: EldestEnt... a Fangorn-character, I deem?
Eonwe Valar: Aye
Eonwe Valar: Well, if there's no TOlkien topic, I suppose I'll declare
the meeting adjourned.
Eonwe Valar: *Bangs Gavel*
Eonwe Valar: Aftermeeting now :}
HeruRasa: such violence ;0
ArPharazonV: hmm.... let's see if we can find the most blunt
tolkien-topic we can find...
ArPharazonV: what's better? lotr or hobbit?
Druidfalconwolf: Silmarillion ;-)
Eonwe Valar: Now just because I broke the desk.. :}
Eonwe Valar: HoME :}
ArPharazonV: UT! Neh... have to agree with Silm
Druidfalconwolf: or better yet... all of them!
ArPharazonV: yes, I'd say we can all agree with that
ArPharazonV: ok, next topic!
Eonwe Valar: HoME gives the "complete" unofficial version of Tolkien's
ArPharazonV: indeed... a bit combined with UT
Eonwe Valar: early versions of every part of the story :} and multiple
early version on some of them :}
Druidfalconwolf: out of curiosity, what's everyone reading? (besides
Eonwe Valar: Right now? Manga :}
ArPharazonV: let's see... Tolkien... study... not much, I guess
ArPharazonV: a few comics called 'suske en wiske', not sure what the
Druidfalconwolf: Manga? Which ones?
ArPharazonV: and a few Discworld-books waiting on my shelf, gathering
Eonwe Valar: Well, I just caught up on Samurai Deeper Kyo and Yuyu
Hakusho. Still have Crest of the Stars some Lodoss manga to read though.
Eonwe Valar: *and some
HeruRasa: gonna head out, Namarie all
Eonwe Valar: Take care Ulmo :}
HeruRasa has left the room.
ArPharazonV: tooo late
ArPharazonV: I've played the first discworld-game from the Underdogs,
but have yet to find nr 2, and haven't read any of the books although,
as I said, two are in the waitinglist
Eonwe Valar: I also have the WoW manga
Druidfalconwolf: there's a game on Discworld?
Eonwe Valar: and a couple of books from the War of the Ancients series.
Druidfalconwolf: heh, never knew that
ArPharazonV: oh yes, it's fun
Druidfalconwolf: War of the Ancients was interesting, read the first two
ArPharazonV: with Rincewind the clumsy mage
Druidfalconwolf: hmm... I just loved reading about Death...
Eonwe Valar: Well, my time has come as well :}
ArPharazonV: Death plays a major part in game 2, it seems... and a
minor part in 1
Eonwe Valar: Take care all :}
Eonwe Valar has left the room.
Druidfalconwolf: no one else is talking.... lol
ArPharazonV: I'm here... partially
aranfinwe: lol, been busy w/ work myself...
aranfinwe: and on that note, it's time for me to sign off...
aranfinwe: namarie all
aranfinwe has left the room.
VardaValar1: back kinda
ArPharazonV: leaving myself
ArPharazonV: I guess I can send a transcript after all
ArPharazonV: saving now...
Druidfalconwolf: I have to go in about 10 minutes to work on another
VardaValar1: Sounds good
VardaValar1: Do you know what you will be working on?
VardaValar1: Thanks again, Phar :-)
Druidfalconwolf: maybe an Elf or a hobbit
Druidfalconwolf: or Gollum :-)
VardaValar1: That should give you plenty of room
VardaValar1: He's a Stoor Hobbit, so that is still in the Hobbit area
Druidfalconwolf: I was thinking about Lobelia... I kind of liked her
VardaValar1: I fixed the Glorfindel link problem
VardaValar1: Me too : )
VardaValar1: We even had a member named Lobelia for a while : )
VardaValar1: Another gutsy hobbit : )
VardaValar1: Meeting started two hours ago
Druidfalconwolf: I only came for about 45 minutes
VardaValar1: Since Eonwe declared After-meeting, no one is stuck here
ArPharazonV: well, I'ma leaving you
ArPharazonV: just getting some water, and then to bed
VardaValar1: Namarie, hope you feel better
ArPharazonV: will see you next week, or in AIM, or on the forum, or
VardaValar1: Sounds good
VardaValar1: Turning over the comp to Elwing, who has LotR writing to
do : )
ArPharazonV: you're European right? might see you in WoW if you ever
get that :-)
Druidfalconwolf: me? Nope, American
ArPharazonV: ah, ok
Druidfalconwolf: or Japanese American :-)
ArPharazonV: I thought to recall you speaking French....
ArPharazonV: oh well
VardaValar1: Any kind of American is still American, expecially in WoW
Druidfalconwolf: I study French at school...
ArPharazonV: ah, ok
VardaValar1: It has to do with which CD and realms you can use
ArPharazonV: I'm a Dutch Dutch-man!
ArPharazonV: and I'm not even Flying!
ArPharazonV: but anyway, Namarie
Druidfalconwolf: I only understand War3 talk... which mean portals
ArPharazonV: I too hope I'll feel better
ArPharazonV has left the room.
FarmerMaggotV has left the room.
Druidfalconwolf: and it's time for me to go too, namarie
VardaValar1: Battery hunting : )
Druidfalconwolf has left the room.
