VardaValar1: We'll give that in the Web section
ArPharazonV: back
VardaValar1: Any other member news?
VardaValar1: Web News:
VardaValar1: The Forum has been upgraded
VardaValar1: It seemed to stay up and lose nothing, so that's good : )
ArPharazonV: how has it been upgraded? don't see a difference....
VardaValar1: We'll be playing with it and see if we can find anything nice to wow everyone with
VardaValar1: We haven't messed with it yet, but I saw no difference either
VardaValar1: It's the new version, supposed to have lots of new features to play with
VardaValar1: once we locate them
ArPharazonV: hmm..
VardaValar1: I just found out a few minutes ago : )
ArPharazonV: *presses random button*
ArPharazonV: *forum blows up*
VardaValar1: Give us a bit of time, and we'll see
VardaValar1: Situation normal, blown up : )
VardaValar1: Speaking of blown up
VardaValar1: The Bridge has a problem
VardaValar1: Farmer upgraded his Operating System, and now the Bridge doesn't work
VardaValar1: Farmer, would you like to give a report?
TheSirG3: without being too technical, I've got to:a.) find a download link for all of Twisted 2 (internet module)b.) update my code to use it
ArPharazonV: ?
TheSirG3: ooh, last time I looked you had to download every part invidually, thanks!
ArPharazonV: np, just a random search engine ;-)
VardaValar1: That should help!
TheSirG3: yep, now all that's left is updating my code to use it heh
VardaValar1: You thought Fladrif might be able to run it meanwhile?
TheSirG3: maybe, he's looking into installing the requirements now
VardaValar1: Fladrif, good luck with that!
VardaValar1: And thanks for even considering it :-)
VardaValar1: Sauron and Eowyn are here in real life and say hi to all of you :-)
VardaValar1: Eowyn just passed WoW to Sauron
VardaValar1: Done, Farmer?
TheSirG3: yeah, that's all I had to say :-)
VardaValar1: Thanks! That was a lot of info
ArPharazonV: does your WoW-pc ever get rest? ;-)
VardaValar1: Rarely. Tends to be 24/7
VardaValar1: Tolkien Encyc:
VardaValar1: The Powers page is done on separating all articles to their own pages
VardaValar1: I will need help checking links, as I do this at weird hours
sauronjag: tell them hi back :-)
VardaValar1: ok : )
VardaValar1: Sauron sees Ulmo and Arathorn on WoW as 60's
GwaihirValar: grats to them on making 60!(Whenever they made 60 ;-))
VardaValar1: So we have them located ;-)
ArPharazonV: wow.... and I'm going for 16... I feel such a n00b...
VardaValar1: Sauron is close, 58
VardaValar1: I'm going for 15 on Varda
VardaValar1: Gilraen has a WoW page report for Menelvagor
ArPharazonV: but this is my main (and only) char :-D
VardaValar1: Go ahead, Gilraen
VardaValar1: You just got the game, Phar : )
VardaValar1: Guess she's afk so here is a copy paste
VardaValar1: GilraenV: Heya. Menelvagor asked me to tell you that he can't make it tonight, something (he didn't say what) has come up, and also that he installed the new buttons on the site
VardaValar1: So the new WoW site is being upgraded by team effort
VardaValar1: The buttons are from Gilraen : )
VardaValar1: also repairs on the buttons are from Gilraen
ArPharazonV: the look good
ArPharazonV: *they
VardaValar1: If anyone else would like to help, jump in !
ArPharazonV: better than those stretched out characters it used to have...
VardaValar1: Phar, could you put up the link since you are the link man? : )
VardaValar1: Thanks1
VardaValar1: Lungorthin, would you like to give a report for Dark Age of Camelot?
TheSirG3: somewhat afk: trying to get Twisted upgraded
VardaValar1: Guess Lungorthin is afk too
VardaValar1: He'll give his report in the middle of something else, np ;-)
VardaValar1: Is there any other news, comment?
ArPharazonV: web? gaming?
VardaValar1: Olwe/Fallen Glory has to go do an essay for class, so namarie

VardaValar1: Gaming:
VardaValar1: WoW:
VardaValar1: We had Friday guild night
TheSirG3 has left the room.
VardaValar1: It started an hour earlier than the 5pm ESDT we claim
VardaValar1: This lets Elatan and Orome play and we like to play anytime anyway ;-)
ArPharazonV: Cmon, blizzard, give us that Europe-US-connection.... :-(
VardaValar1: They were both on and could have used more to play with, so feel free to come early too!
VardaValar1: Oh, about the Europe - US
VardaValar1: After the patch, it asked for whether we wanted US or Europe here in the US
VardaValar1: But then it never gave us the choice again
TheSirG3 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: I had thoughts of dropping in on you guys at Argent Dawn : )
ArPharazonV: heheh
VardaValar1: It gives hope for later, though
ArPharazonV: yup
VardaValar1: Phar, did you see a choice when you started up?
ArPharazonV: no, I didn't.... not that I recall
VardaValar1: It was right at the start for us
VardaValar1: Anyway, I was forced to choose between Orome and Dusksinger to game with, and would have liked more to help game early
ArPharazonV: no, I think I would remember if I was given that choice... but hey, perhaps we'll get it another time
VardaValar1: Anyway, we need your names on Argent Dawn so we can find you if the chance comes up!
VardaValar1: Email would be fine
VardaValar1: Maybe you guys can have a Europe members page like we have for Lothar?
VardaValar1: Would one of you like to run it?
VardaValar1: Menelvagor might : )
VardaValar1: He's not here. Let's volunteer him.
VardaValar1: And we can volunteer Phar to help him!
ArPharazonV: can we? really?
GwaihirValar: afk for a bit
VardaValar1: Any other news or comments?
ArPharazonV: does anyone here even care enough for war3 to be interested in a few new maps being released?
VardaValar1: Yes
VardaValar1: They may not be at the meeting but they would like to read it
VardaValar1: 'Fire away, Phar : )
sauronjag: I have some news too after phar :-)
ArPharazonV: haven't tried any of them (haven't done anything but custom for a long while), but they look cool on the page
ArPharazonV: Phantom Grove,
ArPharazonV: Shrine of the Ancients, Worm War, Full Scale Assault.... I could give some descriptions
ArPharazonV: or I could just give the link:
VardaValar1: That's a big help. Thanks :-)
ArPharazonV: ok
VardaValar1: Lungorthin, go ahead with your DAoC report : )
sauronjag: okay
sauronjag: sorry logged into daoc right now too :-)
sauronjag: I remembered last meeting you had asked gelmir if he had any news or words about the daoc branch
VardaValar1: That might help you with your report : )
sauronjag: which is now wolves of valinor
VardaValar1: At least they still have Valinor : )
VardaValar1: If Irmo's on, could you say hi from us? :-)
sauronjag: I had been playin on another server, but decided to make a toon on their server/realm to see them.. I had some talks w/ yrma (old/regular? Irmo) and gel, joined the guild
sauronjag: aye :-)
sauronjag: he's now the leader of one of the biggest guilds on that server
sauronjag: they do mostly just realm vs realm (pvp)
VardaValar1: Guess that's what it takes to be big
sauronjag: he's also the leader of the biggest aliance on the server
VardaValar1: The actual leader?
sauronjag: yep
sauronjag: his guild leads, and hes the leader of his guild :-)
VardaValar1: That is magnificent :-)
sauronjag: yeah haha
VardaValar1: So did you join into it?
sauronjag: it's sad, but it kind of seems like they had to split or become more lax in order to do that well on such a big scale
sauronjag: aye of course
ArPharazonV: so basically he's the most powerful player on the server... amazing
sauronjag: don't have a toon high enough to play with them tho :-)
VardaValar1: So of the Valar Guild, we have you, Irmo, and Gelmir?
sauronjag: aye
sauronjag: well
VardaValar1: Anyone else left?
sauronjag: I think there is one
sauronjag: but I forgot his name :-(
VardaValar1: I mean present there
sauronjag: oh
GwaihirValar: back
VardaValar1: Maybe since you are on DAoC, the name is listed
VardaValar1: Aiyata :-)
sauronjag: I can't remember his name. aye I'll find out :-)
sauronjag: wb gwaihir
VardaValar1: Thanks
sauronjag: they are doing really really well
VardaValar1: Great!
sauronjag: when I joined, he explained why I had a "v" at the end of my name :-)
VardaValar1: That is very very good news
VardaValar1: Who did he explain to?
VardaValar1: Just that it's a guild mark?
sauronjag: "long tradition from the old members of valar" the rest of hte guildies on
VardaValar1: Nice : )
sauronjag: there are a lot of people that have joined. I think it's 50 or so members
sauronjag: really big for daoc. it's prolly 250+ characters
VardaValar1: Do you think we should follow his lead for WoW?
VardaValar1: Do it the same way?
ArPharazonV: merge the guild with another just to become more powerful in the game? is that really fitting?
VardaValar1: No
VardaValar1: It is how he leads that makes it strong
sauronjag: that's not what he did though. it's really complicated :-)
VardaValar1: Stormwolves was not all that big
VardaValar1: It is how he led.
sauronjag: I think that it might be beneficial to adapt to each game
ArPharazonV: ic... and how did he lead?
VardaValar1: He had to drop a lot of what we do
ArPharazonV: ok
VardaValar1: We try to learn from each game we play
sauronjag: aye
VardaValar1: We still hope to run a branch on MeO if it ever comes out
sauronjag: hah, if it ever does
VardaValar1: But the WoW group wants to keep the LotR test
TheSirG3: can someone check if the bridge is in SigmaChat?
TheSirG3: thanks Varda =)
VardaValar1: I see it there, but it did not show the speech
sauronjag: ALDARON, that was his name :-)
VardaValar1: My pleasure
TheSirG3: I've got Twisted up and working, but the IRC and AIM sides of the bridge need rewriting (hopefully only minor stuff)
sauronjag: alatar is in the guild too
VardaValar1: Orome!
VardaValar1: Aldaron is Orome
sauronjag: ah :-)
VardaValar1: Alatar just fixed his router set-up so he can play DAoC and WoW better now
VardaValar1: He is much happier : )
VardaValar1: Way to go, FM! That was fast adapting
VardaValar1: We are happy to have members in multiple games, so that is all good : )
VardaValar1: We are very glad Irmo is doing so well and has a place in DAoC our guys can go to
VardaValar1: May he continue to do well!
sauronjag: aye :-)
VardaValar1: Is Melkor in it still?
sauronjag: I haven't seen him
VardaValar1: Orome is trying to get him to come over to WoW
VardaValar1: Melkor has been gone for quite some time away from comp access, but you may be seeing him again now
VardaValar1: Do tell Irmo hi for us : )
sauronjag: Will do
VardaValar1: Any further news?
VardaValar1: Oh, and he's welcome to pop into a meeting anytime
VardaValar1: Even a minute or two just to say hi and promote DAoC
VardaValar1: Any further news or comments?
VardaValar1: If not, on to Tolkien : )

VardaValar1: SamWise was very interested in seeing elves. He said he wanted to see them more than anything
sauronjag: :-)
VardaValar1: Then he got a very big dose of elves
VardaValar1: But Tolkien tells us very little about his reaction!
ArPharazonV: and suddenly he became the smartest of the bunch...
VardaValar1: He seems to have liked what he saw of Gildor and Rivendell
VardaValar1: but then no comments at all
VardaValar1: This leaves it open to our speculation : )
ArPharazonV: while being glad to have seen so many elves, I presume he was happy to go home in the end...
VardaValar1: Did he get tired of them after a few months at Rivendell, or just used to them, or was he happy
sauronjag: okay folks, on a relic raid (bows) :-) time to take my leave
ArPharazonV: Namarie
sauronjag: Namarie
VardaValar1: How did he feel about having an elf in daily contact on the Fellowship?
VardaValar1: Namarie
sauronjag has left the room.
ArPharazonV: intimidated?
VardaValar1: He should have been used to them after several months in Rivendell
bnetValar has entered the room.
VardaValar1: But in Rivendell, he wasn't in daily contact
bnetValar has left the room.
VardaValar1: Little seemed to intimidate him by the end
ArPharazonV: and would he, during that time, have lost the respect and awe he had for the Elves when he first saw them?
VardaValar1: Would he have kept his distance or tried to talk to him?
bnetValar has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Perhaps he kept the respect, but became able to function well with them
VardaValar1: Did he learn to interact or try to avoid?
bnetValar: ArPharazonV (SigmaChat): woohoo! captn, we have a bridge!
TheSirG3: I think it's working Varda
VardaValar1: Did he say two words to the elf?
bnetValar: Varda (SigmaChat): Ahh! It shows the AIM talk here too!
VardaValar1: You guys have done the impossible again!
VardaValar1: Your specialty! :-)
VardaValar1: /bows to Farmer
ArPharazonV: impossible... no such thing when FM is around ;-)
VardaValar1: Right!
TheSirG3: heh, eventually I'm gonna have to sit down and redo a bit of it, but for now it works
VardaValar1: Phar, the Bridge aka Farmer, and myself are on Sigma and it appears to be working fine : )
VardaValar1: Tidy the programming? :-)
VardaValar1: I assume only the three of us are currently live in the chat?
VardaValar1: Anyone else present?
TheSirG3: update it to use the current stuff from Twisted 2, I'm getting a bunch of deprecated warnings heh
VardaValar1: Do you need us to stay in the two spots to help you test?
TheSirG3: nah, it seems to be working
VardaValar1: Congratulations : )
ArPharazonV: Lungorthin and us 3 have been the only main speakers since the beginning of the meeting....
aranfinwe: I'm kinda afk'y due to the fact I'm at work...
VardaValar1: Understood, Finwe :-)
aranfinwe: but I am following along when I get the chance
VardaValar1: You have an excuse : )
VardaValar1: Any quick comment on Sam and Elves?
aranfinwe: I'm not sure about the other elves, but I would say at least as far as Legolas goes...
aranfinwe: he had no problems dealing with
aranfinwe: ulp customer
aranfinwe: gotta afk
VardaValar1: bye :-)
VardaValar1: np
VardaValar1: We help bring in customers! ;-)
ArPharazonV: we don't really have much about such communication between the hobbits and the other characters in the Fellowship...
ArPharazonV: I never thought I was ever going to say this... but Lotr was less detailed than it could have been :-)
VardaValar1: There is little about the personal interactions in the Fellowship except that they were very close
VardaValar1: I would have liked a lot more characterizaton and interpersonal stuff
VardaValar1: As JRRT and many readers commented, LotR was too short!
VardaValar1: He wanted to put in much more, but his space was limited
ArPharazonV: way too short... could have read another few thousands of pages...
VardaValar1: Needed another book easily
VardaValar1: His could have been one of the series we have now
TheSirG3: a book just on Gandalf woulda been nice =P
VardaValar1: It would have solved a lot of his problems
VardaValar1: true :-)
ArPharazonV: heh... 1 book for each of the Fellowship
VardaValar1: That could have happened
VardaValar1: Can you imagine if he had been allowed to pull off a series the way they do now!
VardaValar1: We would have been very happy to read them all
ArPharazonV: a few years ago, I read a thriller-series of 12 parts
ArPharazonV: a 12 part-series of lotr...
ArPharazonV: each 500 pages...
ArPharazonV: 6000 pages in total
ArPharazonV: I'm sure we all agree when I say this... it's a shame Tolkien didn't have the lifespan of an Elf ;-)
VardaValar1: A Maia, at least : )
ArPharazonV: sigh... mortality....
aranfinwe: keep in mind, that according to him, it's our gift
VardaValar1: I would like to see us write things to fill in those holes
VardaValar1: It is a gift : )
TheSirG3: I find it a gift too
VardaValar1: He is a rare soul to see it
ArPharazonV: a gift... that could easily turn into a curse...
VardaValar1: It is scary, but it is a gift
ArPharazonV: but then again, each has its own advantages and disadvantages
ArPharazonV: both mortality and immortality
VardaValar1: The trick is to stay healthy and use it best
TheSirG3: I for one, wouldn't want to be immortal on Earth
VardaValar1: I could see that
ArPharazonV: let's see... what's that quote from Legacy of Terra...
VardaValar1: I love to work with the plants, the people
VardaValar1: I would like to see the people rise to the stars
VardaValar1: It is taking too long and I fear dying before seeing it
ArPharazonV: about a mortal who gained immortality...
VardaValar1: But I've seen the first shot into space, the first step on the moon
VardaValar1: Elves were supposed to be immortal to the end of Arda and were adapted for it
TheSirG3: Tuck Everlasting is a 6th grade or so book, but it's quite interesting -- talks about this family that gains immortality by drinking this spring water
ArPharazonV: 'For with the gift comes responsibility. Always use it to your honor. Do not let it be tainted by the filth of the world. For that... is when the gift... becomes a curse.
VardaValar1: Well said
ArPharazonV: And on that day... you will reap it. Now go and walk the Earth... for eternity.'
VardaValar1: Here we are trying to rise above the filth of the world and be what we should
VardaValar1: That's lovely, Phar
ArPharazonV: heh
VardaValar1: Do you remember the author/
ArPharazonV: the gift of the magi
VardaValar1: ?
ArPharazonV: it's from a webcomic
ArPharazonV: page 50
VardaValar1: Thank you
ArPharazonV: one of my favorite webcomics I've discovered
VardaValar1: I have been a comic fan for many years
ArPharazonV: do you like sprite-comics?
VardaValar1: It's like reading the storyboard of a movie : )
VardaValar1: I was mostly into Marvel before running out of money for it
ArPharazonV: :-)
ArPharazonV: I hardly read real comics, just loads of webcomics now
VardaValar1: That I could afford :-)
VardaValar1: Would you guys consider doing a comic strip based on Tolkien? : )
ArPharazonV: Bob and George and the entire community around it, order of the stick, errant story, 8-bit theatre... those are my favorites
ArPharazonV: heh
VardaValar1: or at least adding to the joke section?
ArPharazonV: I was considering it, actually
ArPharazonV: making a sprite-comic about lord of the rings...
aranfinwe: omg...
VardaValar1: Please try it out
aranfinwe: I read some of those, too
VardaValar1: Problem, Finwe?
ArPharazonV: but more of a small joke in my head
ArPharazonV: really? where?
aranfinwe: small world :-)
aranfinwe: errant story
VardaValar1: It's online : )
ArPharazonV: ah, ok
aranfinwe: used to read 8bit...
VardaValar1: You will now have others looking at them from your link!
ArPharazonV: I love errant story, probably my biggest favorite
aranfinwe: but haven't caught up on all my webcomic reading
VardaValar1: Good! Something to look forward to : )
ArPharazonV: should I give the link to errant story?
VardaValar1: We who love comics might be able to come up with something for Tolkien : )
aranfinwe: already have it
VardaValar1: sure
VardaValar1: For those reading the transcript
aranfinwe: prolly needs a maturity warning of some lvl, tho
ArPharazonV: yes, indeed
VardaValar1: They get out of having to come to the meetings that way
ArPharazonV: it's a bit mature, more than the others I've mentioned
VardaValar1: So teen or older warning?
ArPharazonV: but I love the story
VardaValar1: We have a lot of older members : )
aranfinwe: yeesh, at least teen
ArPharazonV: oh, yes, at least teen
ArPharazonV: more if you're interested in the fanart ;-)
VardaValar1: A lot of LotR fic should be rated at least Mature!
aranfinwe: rofl
aranfinwe: true
VardaValar1: It would shock JRRT no end!
VardaValar1: He calls vulgarity Orcish, saw and heard plenty during wartime
VardaValar1: Maybe we can do better
VardaValar1: It is harder to be funny and clean at the same time, takes some effort
aranfinwe: heh, yeah
aranfinwe: look at Robin Williams :-)
VardaValar1: yep
VardaValar1: George Carlin
ArPharazonV: well, Jumanji was good...
TheSirG3: heh, Canadian comedy's pretty clean too
VardaValar1: Oh good
TheSirG3: of course, they have the Americans to pick on ;-)
VardaValar1: Anyway, we cold at least do screencaps and painting captions
ArPharazonV: Dutch comedy? do NOT listen to Hans Teeuwen
VardaValar1: or Arathorn's stick pictures! ;-)
ArPharazonV: the most vulgar comedian I've ever seen
VardaValar1: I'm sure Menelvagor's Humor pages for the
VardaValar1: Encyc would host our comics
ArPharazonV: d&d! stick-figures! web-comics! ooh! ooh!
VardaValar1: I find a lot of people on WoW who are Tolkien fans and like to look at our Encyc stuff
VardaValar1: Just lurkers mainly
aranfinwe: lol, seen that one, too
ArPharazonV: heh
VardaValar1: D&D has little movies of funnies even
ArPharazonV: ever seen WTF comics?
ArPharazonV: an everquest comic?
VardaValar1: I've seen some EQ comics
VardaValar1: Do you recommend it?
VardaValar1: and what rating? Looks high
ArPharazonV: well, it's also one of my favorites, and I'd like it even better had I played EQ
aranfinwe: that one I haven't seen, so I don't know
ArPharazonV: and it's less mature than the title suggests, but there could be an episode or 2... what are your standards? ;-)
VardaValar1: Finwe, if you're clear of customers for a sec, what were you going to say about Sam and Elves?
aranfinwe: hmmm...?
VardaValar1: Like movie ratings, Phar
ArPharazonV: what needs to be there for a maturer rating?
aranfinwe: oh yah....
VardaValar1: Pretty graphic
aranfinwe: Sam was prolly comfortable as far as Legolas went...
aranfinwe: don't really know about the others...
aranfinwe: elves that is
VardaValar1: Elrond may have tried to help the Fellowship get comfortable with each other by keeping them together at Rivendell
VardaValar1: Get to know each other before it got tense and dangerous
VardaValar1: That could be the source of series fic and comics right there
VardaValar1: They would need to get over a lot of culture shock
VardaValar1: Boromir might have quite a bit : )
ArPharazonV: about that rating... this is by far the most 'mature' episode of the entire comic, and it isn't that much
VardaValar1: Any of it have to do with Tolkien?
VardaValar1: We are collecting Tolkien humor for the Encyc from all over
ArPharazonV: as for violence... well, not more than you'd expect from an EQ comic
ArPharazonV: no, not Tolkien really...
VardaValar1: I've noticed humor sites referring to the Got Milk on our page : )
ArPharazonV: but as long as we were on the webcomic-topic
VardaValar1: np - just checking
ArPharazonV: ok, let's continue Tolkien
VardaValar1: We could do more comics the same way
VardaValar1: Pics of things Tolkien with captions like that
VardaValar1: Several on the Humor page would work better that way
VardaValar1: Do any of you look at the Rolozo Tolkien site?
VardaValar1: That's where we get most of our pictures
aranfinwe: hmmm....
aranfinwe: can't say I have
ArPharazonV: I could do a comic about tolkien, but have not a clue how to draw... I could do a sprite-comic, but I'm even less skilled there... I'm sure there are more experienced people within our guild
ArPharazonV: Rolozo? yes, seen it probably
VardaValar1: You could grab the pics the same way as our humor page did
VardaValar1: Come up with the text and we can see about the pics
VardaValar1: That is how big pro comics do it. Divide the work
VardaValar1: This one does the story, this one the layout and pencil, this one the pen, then the colorist and then the cover
VardaValar1: Trick in humor is to make it short and punchy, correct pacing
VardaValar1: Dragging it out kills it
ArPharazonV: oh, yes, I've seen that site... and the only Pharazon-picture I've ever found....
ArPharazonV: not one I'd like for my avatar ;-)
VardaValar1: hehehe
VardaValar1: I think I have that link on the Encyc
ArPharazonV: hmm... could've sworn Glorfindel was a guy....
ArPharazonV: oh well, it could be... perhaps just misinterpretation
VardaValar1: nope, not on there
VardaValar1: I'll be getting to the human page eventually : )
ArPharazonV: Celebrimbor... I knew Elves were supposed to be pretty, but this...
VardaValar1: That was a lousy pic, aye : )
VardaValar1: It all depends on which artist you get
ArPharazonV: ooh, interesting
VardaValar1: I like that one
aranfinwe: heh
VardaValar1: some really bad ones out there : )
ArPharazonV: heheh... do I know which one(s) you're talking about? I think I have an idea...
ArPharazonV: but I won't link it
TheSirG3: "There a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root." -- Henry Thoreau
VardaValar1: Here's what we have on Varda now:
[note - this was the intended link: ]
VardaValar1: thanks
VardaValar1: Some are just poorly drawn, some I don't want my kids seeing : )
VardaValar1: The root is how we act
ArPharazonV: like the one in Amillo's Cave?
VardaValar1: After that, we can look outward : )
VardaValar1: Well done, but I pretend no one else saw that
VardaValar1: Europe has a different more relaxed attitude
ArPharazonV: heh
VardaValar1: I try to respect that fact
VardaValar1: Amillo can draw though!
ArPharazonV: sure can
TheSirG3: wow
VardaValar1: I saw a great many of his pics that we have not linked to in any way
VardaValar1: He did not draw that
TheSirG3: ah
VardaValar1: The current cave is not how I want it
ArPharazonV: he didn't? too bad...
VardaValar1: It misleads to think those pics are done by those people
ArPharazonV: ah
VardaValar1: He did draw an Eowyn though
VardaValar1: One of my too many projects is a rebuild of the Caves
VardaValar1: He dropped it
VardaValar1: I just have too many things going
ArPharazonV: is that the other Eowyn on that page? the maturer one?
VardaValar1: My personal project is the Encyc text
ArPharazonV: probably the ugliest I've ever seen?
FladrifV has left the room.
ArPharazonV: now who did this? it's awsome
VardaValar1: I've seen some very bad ones
VardaValar1: See what I mean? Not credited
VardaValar1: He did not do that one
Xseanzee disco has entered the room.
VardaValar1: What he was doing was showing people's favorite pics
VardaValar1: Not what they did themselves necessarily
VardaValar1: Aiya Gil : )
ArPharazonV: Aiya
VardaValar1: Gil, ready to make a comic strip for Tolkien? ;-)
ArPharazonV: we volunteered you :-)
Xseanzee disco: Hey
VardaValar1: We are volunteering people for jobs if they are not present!
Xseanzee disco: haha
Xseanzee disco: hmm.
Xseanzee disco: What does the comic strip entail?
VardaValar1: We have several here interested in comics, considering the thought
aranfinwe: drawing
aranfinwe: or at least cut-and-past
aranfinwe: paste*
VardaValar1: Think of humor, draw it, send it to the Encyc
ArPharazonV: could be humor, could be drama... could be a re-telling of the stories...
Xseanzee disco: haha, yeah definitely not the one to ask about drawing.
VardaValar1: It can be put on a photo holding server and linked to from our Humor site
VardaValar1: We need the idea to be drawn
Xseanzee disco: And the idea is?
VardaValar1: If you have a funny, we might find an artist
VardaValar1: One you tell us ;-)
VardaValar1: Or illustrate some on the page already
VardaValar1: Might use something already drawn or a screen capture and caption it
VardaValar1: Might photoshop something
VardaValar1: Anyway, feel free to play with the idea : )

VardaValar1: I have to leave
ArPharazonV: k, Namarie then
ArPharazonV: I'll save and send
aranfinwe: namarie
VardaValar1: Eowyn, Sauron, and I are going to the movies
VardaValar1: Thanks
VardaValar1: You can chat without me and send that transcript if it is Tolkien related
TheSirG3: Namarie!
VardaValar1: Or just chill out and have fun : )
VardaValar1: Namarie
ArPharazonV: Namarie
VardaValar1 has left the room.
aranfinwe: always a kick when I find someone who reads the same webcomics as I do....
Xseanzee disco: By comics do you mean like full out x-men story lines
aranfinwe: heh, some of 'em are funnies, some of 'em are stories
aranfinwe: some are a bit of both
TheSirG3: hm, strange, it's sunny out, and it's cloudy, and it's windy =P
Xseanzee disco: Just got home from the A's game.... sunburnt..
aranfinwe: try all of that and rainy, too - then you'll see weird weather :-)
ArPharazonV: I don't really read short independent funnies, except for gu-comics
ArPharazonV: the rest of it is all story
ArPharazonV: though with humor, of course :-)
aranfinwe: I prefer story, myself
aranfinwe: but there's a couple I read that are mostly one-shots
ArPharazonV: for me, as I said, just one
aranfinwe: and some that started out as one and morphed into the other
ArPharazonV: even B&G, which has a punchline each day, has an interesting story
TheSirG3: oh great, now it's raining
aranfinwe: :-)
TheSirG3: I blame you =P
aranfinwe: hehehe
TheSirG3: very very strange weather, even for the north country
aranfinwe: yeesh, I see sunny rainstorms all the time here in Florida :-)
ArPharazonV: sunny and rainy? gotta look for the pot of gold
TheSirG3: I'm more used to a day of snow and the next day a high of like 60 =P
aranfinwe: it is an interesting sight when it happens
aranfinwe: as to the webcomic thing...
ArPharazonV: hmmm... think I mentioned them all now
aranfinwe: it's interesting to meet one of your favorite authors and here him list his webcomic list and have it match up pretty closely with your own
ArPharazonV: B&G, OotS, Errant Story, 8-bit theatre, GU, WTF comics... yup that's about it
ArPharazonV: what else do you read?
aranfinwe: lol, there's prolly 20 or so that I read w/ some degree of regularity
TheSirG3: I read Joy of Tech and Dilbert =) (inserting myself into you two's conversation ;-))
ArPharazonV: all of these I check daily, even with comics I know the update-schedule from ;-)
aranfinwe: ....
ArPharazonV: most of them have interesting forums
aranfinwe: my dad reads Joy of Tech...
aranfinwe: yah, I'll check errant story close to daily simply b/c I've seen him occasionally put something up on an off day
aranfinwe: and no, that's not a slight in regards to JoT...
aranfinwe: my Dad and I have very similar tastes, but I only have so much free time w/ which to catch up on diff comics
aranfinwe: so I haven't read it myself
ArPharazonV: Joy of Tech... doesn't seem I've seen it before, but it looks pretty nice
aranfinwe: I've read a few, and liked 'em...
aranfinwe: like I said tho...
TheSirG3: JoT is geeky =)
TheSirG3: (usually)
aranfinwe: I don't have too much free time to catch up on others
aranfinwe: lol
aranfinwe: I seem to recall that :-)
aranfinwe: geeky, w/o becoming the otaku of a few other webcomics I've seen....
TheSirG3: otaku?
aranfinwe: otaku=fanboy
TheSirG3: ah
aranfinwe: a lot of webcomics that I've seen out there have a very strong anime/manga influence
aranfinwe: in fact, Poe of Errant Story has a VERY similar drawing style to a certain anime/manga series
ArPharazonV: ah, yes, was just thinking 'errant story' when you said that :-)
aranfinwe: or at least, his earlier stuff was, particularly w/ Exploitation Now
GilraenV has left the room.
ArPharazonV: exploitation now... I think I've read that as well... it's on the ES site, right?
aranfinwe: ummm...
aranfinwe: not sure it's the same site
aranfinwe: but it's the same author
ArPharazonV: well, a link to it at least
aranfinwe: and it was his project before errant story
GilraenV has entered the room.
aranfinwe: and a lot more mature than errant story so far
aranfinwe: (except perhaps for some of the self-censored comics)
aranfinwe: yup
ArPharazonV: actually, my avatar in the war3 forum, and in msn, comes from a piece of errantstory-fanart... but not one of the more 'erotic' pieces
ArPharazonV: it's the girl's face from this one
ArPharazonV: it is, in my opinion, the best piece...
aranfinwe: lol
TheSirG3: anyways, I'm out, cya all
ArPharazonV: ok, bye
bnetValar has left the room.
TheSirG3 has left the room.
aranfinwe: what's amusing, is that's one of the few non-erotic pieces...
ArPharazonV: that's what I said
ArPharazonV: it's not one of the more erotic pieces
aranfinwe: yah, I'm just referencing the fact that most of 'em ARE "erotic" pieces
ArPharazonV: yup
aranfinwe: but that's poe for ya
ArPharazonV: hey, it's gift-art
aranfinwe: yah
ArPharazonV: this is not poe
ArPharazonV: it is how other people interpret poe
aranfinwe: but he seems to get a lot of that kind of stuff :-)
aranfinwe: I seem to recall a lot of similar fanart w/ exploitation now, too :-)
aranfinwe: tho...
aranfinwe: come to think of it...
aranfinwe: a lot of the webcomic artists get a fair amount of erotic fanart, if I'm not mistaken
aranfinwe: what scares me is how much of that type they prolly get for megatokyo...
ArPharazonV: don't know megatokyo
aranfinwe: rofl!!!!
aranfinwe: it's one of the story comics...
ArPharazonV: it sounds vaguely familiar, but I don't think I've read it
aranfinwe: but it's definately a part of the anime/manga subset of webcomicdom
aranfinwe: piro/largo/dom/stickfigure dom...
aranfinwe: any of those ring bells?
ArPharazonV: well, not sure... most of my webcomics come from a link I found at another webcomic
aranfinwe: they are all associated w/ megatokyo....
ArPharazonV: GU-comics I found through a wow website
aranfinwe: lol, surprised mt wasn't one of 'em
ArPharazonV: WTF and 8-bit theatre I got from GU-comics
aranfinwe: it's one of the biggie comics out
ArPharazonV: OotS I got from the 8-bit forum
aranfinwe: yah, linkage is how I found mine
ArPharazonV: B&G I probably got from either OotS or 8-bit
aranfinwe: I believe poe has even done a fanart or 2 for mt, tho
ArPharazonV: and Errant Story I found via an add on B&G
ArPharazonV: it all links together
aranfinwe: yep, almost all of mine came from linkage from another webcomic.... except for Sinfest...
ArPharazonV: and this is how I found OotS at 8-bit
aranfinwe: that one I got from one of my college roomies
ArPharazonV: a fan-comic
ArPharazonV: 'giftart', as you might say ;-)
ArPharazonV: I believe it expanded the OotS-fanbase by quite a lot
ArPharazonV: including me, obviously
aranfinwe: lol
aranfinwe: I bet :-)
aranfinwe: that is the kind of humor that I associated with 8bit...
ArPharazonV: ah, a 'guest-comic' was what it's called
ArPharazonV: that's probably why Brian chose it
aranfinwe: the scary thing is, the guy behind 8bit, I think he went to the same high school at me at the same time...
ArPharazonV: heh
aranfinwe: but that's only going by another friend of mine who reads that
aranfinwe: so I don't know the veracity of that statement
ArPharazonV: why does it seem none of the webcomic-authors are married... part of the job-description? most of them have girlfriends, though
aranfinwe: actually, several of the ones I read are married, and many of the rest have gf's
ArPharazonV: well, must just be a coincidence then
aranfinwe: tho, must of 'em weren't when they started, or at least, when I started reading 'em at least
aranfinwe: btw, thx for the link :-)
aranfinwe: I'd lost the one for 8bit :-)
ArPharazonV: heh
aranfinwe: you should try
aranfinwe: that's one of the better humor/story strips
aranfinwe: biiiiiiig archive tho
aranfinwe: he's been doing that strip daily for a few years now
ArPharazonV: heh, that's funny
ArPharazonV: this one's been going on for years, daily, as well
ArPharazonV: and has lots of fan- and sub-comics built up around it
ArPharazonV: it'll be a while before you're done with all those archives ;-)
aranfinwe: yah, I remember reading some of it before when I was in college and had a lot more spare time :-)
ArPharazonV: I've read them all, and still follow every comic in there
aranfinwe: but now I have to deal w/ a 50 hour work week (the perils have being salaried) and a minimum commute of 30 mins each way (unless I feel like tempting the cops)
ArPharazonV: ah.... lack of time is a shame :-)
aranfinwe: yah, don't get anywhere near as much time to read or play on the comp
aranfinwe: and I get that by pretty much eliminating all TV time (which I haven't really missed anyways)
ArPharazonV: ouch
aranfinwe: anywho...
aranfinwe: it's time for me to head home
ArPharazonV: ok then
ArPharazonV: it's been fun
aranfinwe: good talking w/ y'all
aranfinwe: namarie
ArPharazonV: yup
ArPharazonV: Namarie
aranfinwe has left the room.
ArPharazonV: well, that's it
ArPharazonV: /transcript purposes
ArPharazonV: at time of save:
ArPharazonV: approximately a quarter to two, Europe time... almost 3 hours since the meeting began
ArPharazonV: present: myself, FallenGlory, GwaihirValar, Xseanzee disco, GilraenV
ArPharazonV: /end transcript purposes
ArPharazonV: will save now
