FarmerMaggotV: heh
VardaValar1: Trying to find everyone
VardaValar1: Emails change, no AIM, no Forum, and then we miss each other
VardaValar1: If they would email me, np :-)
VardaValar1: Or come to a meeting
FarmerMaggotV: yeah, I've only ever lost contact with one person I'd like to talk to again :-P
VardaValar1: ouch
FarmerMaggotV: yea
VardaValar1: Anybody I know?
FarmerMaggotV: she used to lurk around the Valar channel
VardaValar1: I miss Xi. She was fun
FarmerMaggotV: her name was la canard juane or w/e -> it meant the yellow duck
VardaValar1: Oh aye! She isn't around now?
VardaValar1: I haven't been in the bnet channel much, sadly
FarmerMaggotV: I haven't seen her in maybe 2 years
FarmerMaggotV: since my first summer of camping :-(
VardaValar1: Doesn't seem like it was that long for me
VardaValar1: But I used to be in the channel a lot :-)
FarmerMaggotV: heh, I didn't
VardaValar1: She had a lot of names
FarmerMaggotV: did she? I only remember one other -> but not the name, just that she had one other
VardaValar1: Daeron, who used to be Cirdan and did a lot of articles, seems to have disappeared off the planet. Hate to lose him just because I don't have the right email.
VardaValar1: You can see nes in danger at the bottom of the 2005 Activity page
VardaValar1: Boy, can't type tonight
VardaValar1: Sauron says he saw a new member on WoW, Morinehtar
VardaValar1: Didn't catch primary name or who scouted
VardaValar1: Trick now is to see if we can find any of these folks on AIM
El Capitan Chobo has entered the room.
El Capitan Chobo: Aiya
El Capitan Chobo: just making ashorcut real quick bb in a sec
El Capitan Chobo has left the room.
VardaValar1: okkkk
VardaValar1: Tom Bombadil would not want to quit. Now how to contact
MoriFinwe has left the room.
VardaValar1: Ugluk, we'd probably have to chase his boat
MoriFinwe has left the room.
FarmerMaggotV: <-- doesn't that make you angry
VardaValar1: How does Morifinwe leave the room twice without being here?
MoriFinwe has left the room.
FarmerMaggotV: AIM is the flakiest network I've ever seen.... I gotta feeling the more I know how it works, the more I'll be in awe that it works at all :-P
VardaValar1: That is so wrong, Farmer. Yes
VardaValar1: hehe - in awe it works at all is about right!
MoriFinwe has left the room.
MoriFinwe has left the room.
VardaValar1: Have to help plaster. Later
FarmerMaggotV: Namarie!
MoriFinwe has left the room.
El Capitan Chobo has entered the room.

FarmerMaggotV: heh
El Capitan Chobo has entered the room.
VardaValar1: back
VardaValar1: So you're Morifinwe?
El Capitan Chobo: I cant get in with either of my 2 valar screen names
El Capitan Chobo: Yes
El Capitan Chobo: it keeps saying error when i try to join the channel
VardaValar1: Linked sn?

El Capitan Chobo: i sign off then try to get in with that
El Capitan Chobo: screen name
El Capitan Chobo: im gonna try again
FarmerMaggotV: btw: Microsoft released their own adware program (free)
FarmerMaggotV: supposedly it's quite good
Menelvagor Valar: not including spyware of their own I reckon :-)
FarmerMaggotV: heh
El Capitan Chobo has left the room.
VardaValar1: Right : )
VardaValar1: Then after they kill off the other adawares, they can charge
ArPharazonV has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: Aiya
VardaValar1: Aiya Phar : )
ArPharazonV: what did I miss?
ArPharazonV: lots of pre-meeting?
VardaValar1: Just chit chat and poor Morifinwe trying to come in
FarmerMaggotV: nah :-P
VardaValar1: He's El Capitan Chobo
ArPharazonV: btw, I found that song Pippin sang
VardaValar1: Ah good
ArPharazonV: it's based on the third verse of a walking song Fro, Sam and Pip sang right before their second encounter with the Black Riders
VardaValar1: That sounds right : )
VardaValar1: Explains why he says it's a song of his people too
ArPharazonV: pretty cheerful originally, but the changes brought to it for the movie made it all gloomy, and yet it is almost identical
CaranthirV has left the room.
ArPharazonV: good job by the writers
VardaValar1: Circumstances
ArPharazonV: no, also the lyrics transform the mood
ArPharazonV: quite inventive
VardaValar1: No argument. Made it fit. Well don
MoriFinwe has left the room.
ArPharazonV: that's odd
ArPharazonV: people leaving without even entering
VardaValar1: Same one. Caranthir is trying to join the chat and not able to
Menelvagor Valar: yep
ArPharazonV: well, 1 person actually
ArPharazonV: yeah
VardaValar1: He can only join as El Capitan Chobo
ArPharazonV: really?
VardaValar1: Suggestions? He's talking with me in another window
ArPharazonV: no idea
FarmerMaggotV: no clue either
ArathornValar has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Arathorn : )

mirkwood hunter has left the room.
MoriFinwe has left the room.
VardaValar1: mirkwood hunter said he had to leave to play at a concert, but says hi
VardaValar1: Guys, maybe we should all leave the room and re-make it
VardaValar1: It seems bugged somehow
FarmerMaggotV: I don't think it'd make any diff really....
VardaValar1: Two with the same problem
VardaValar1: What is your suggestion?
VardaValar1: You're the comp expert : )
FarmerMaggotV: no clue, but we could try it
ArPharazonV: hmm... should we save this part for the transcript?
VardaValar1: Sure, why not : )
VardaValar1: We save stuff much less important ;-)
FarmerMaggotV: I think AIM's just fubarred :-P
VardaValar1: heh
VardaValar1: Mass exit!!
Farmer Maggot V has left the room.

Grimbold V: Ahh good to see you again
ArathornValar: er.. whos the captain :-)
El Capitan Chobo: MoriFinwe
VardaValar1: He's Morifinwe/Caranthir
Grimbold V: Not a problem..Ironforge and Stormwind are usually the most laggiest in the game so be prepared ahead of time when you go in
El Capitan Chobo: my other names dont get into the chat room for some reason
VardaValar1: His other two names won't stay in the chat. Same thing happened with another
ArathornValar: odd
El Capitan Chobo: Then i started playing with my troll shaman
Grimbold V: what lvl is he?
El Capitan Chobo: in whisperwind server
El Capitan Chobo: 9
VardaValar1: Amras could not enter as mirkwood hunter, then had to go play at a concert
FarmerMaggotV: afk, finding win2k disk
El Capitan Chobo: my computer lags quite a lot and have to log in and log out every few hours
ArPharazonV: Varda, don't you mind me and my family disturbing the feast pretty soon? :-)
VardaValar1: feast?
ArPharazonV: rp
VardaValar1: ah : )
VardaValar1: Thranduil went to see about you folks
VardaValar1: You could toss him into the mix : )
ArPharazonV: will you continue controlling him?
VardaValar1: No one can control Thranduil : )
VardaValar1: Want me to?
ArPharazonV: if you don't mind
ArPharazonV: have to have his character consistent :-)
VardaValar1: Can do. I had it rigged where he goes to find you
VardaValar1: You've been reported
ArPharazonV: I've already got 4 people under my control now in the same room :-)
ArPharazonV: not to mention a wounded wolf back in the village
VardaValar1: np
ArPharazonV: I wonder if I've gone for more than I can keep up with...
VardaValar1: Guess we're having a small meeting
ArPharazonV: but hey, I'll try...
VardaValar1: Let's start

VardaValar1: Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo
ElladanV has left the room.
VardaValar1: Member News
VardaValar1: Elladan has just tried to enter and met the crash bug
El Capitan Chobo: ya
VardaValar1: We are now in the process of removing disinterested members
VardaValar1: AIM needs to cooperate and let them come to meetings : )
ArPharazonV: a lot of big names in the sweep-list, I saw...
ElladanV has left the room.
VardaValar1: Partly to get their attention : )
VardaValar1: Orome needs to update his email
ElladanV has left the room.
ArPharazonV: you were thinking of sweeping Eru??
VardaValar1: heh
VardaValar1: He already answered
VardaValar1: He says he's still with us : )
ArPharazonV: in heart and spirit :-)
VardaValar1: And in email : )
VardaValar1: I emailed all the Tolkien-onlies
VardaValar1: The email is partly an updater for those who aren't very active
VardaValar1: If any of you see any of the folk on the drop list, you might let me know
VardaValar1: A lot of people don't have updated emails or AIM or use the Forum
VardaValar1: We need to keep better connected
VardaValar1: Any other member news?
ArPharazonV: and the drop-list now consists of?
VardaValar1: See News page and bottom of the Activity page 2005
VardaValar1: And be sure to reload the page often : )
VardaValar1: Emails and AIM are coming at me thick and fast
VardaValar1: The sweep usually wakes people up and you see them more for a little while
VardaValar1: Wish they would sign email with member name. I keep having to translate

VardaValar1: Web News:
VardaValar1: The Tolkien Encyclopedia is in need of your input. You don't want all the articles to say Varda and Amillo : )
Menelvagor Valar: just waiting for the opportune moment and info, matey 8-)
VardaValar1: The articles are being re-done so each has its own page so we can have a search by letter
VardaValar1: and better navigation in general
Eonwe Valar has left the room.
VardaValar1: Story and Poetry pages are already rigged that way
VardaValar1: Eonwe can't enter. Ouch
VardaValar1: Farmer, do you have the Valar Programmers room up?
VardaValar1: Maybe they can come into it?
FarmerMaggotV: Nope, forgot heh, doing too many things
VardaValar1: Art page will be re-done so credit is correct
VardaValar1: How about now?
FarmerMaggotV: yep
VardaValar1: Thanks
Eonwe Valar has left the room.
VardaValar1: Try inviting the ones who can't come in here and tell us how that works, please?
VardaValar1: Any other Web News?
VardaValar1: Arathorn, how about you?
ArathornValar: Nope. HAven't heard from Maglor so not sure if he's away or...
ArathornValar: re. WoW page
VardaValar1: Had the thought he might be able to link to your Christmas screenies : )
ArathornValar: I've just kept my updates in the forum for now
ArPharazonV: Eonwe just went offline
FarmerMaggotV: tried inviting morifinwe: Could not send because morifinwe is not available.
FladrifV has entered the room.
FladrifV: aiya
VardaValar1: He's in here as the Capitan
VardaValar1: Aiya Fladrif : )
ArPharazonV: Aiya
VardaValar1: Bunch of people can't join the chat
Eonwe Valar has left the room.
Xseanzee disco has left the room.
ArPharazonV: 'Eonwe declined your chat invitation.'
FarmerMaggotV has entered the room.
El Capitan Chobo: ya im not noline with that name
FarmerMaggotV: already in here as FarmerMaggot-V, Varda
VardaValar1: I know. Just invited my entire Valar and Alt list
FarmerMaggotV: k
Eonwe Valar has left the room.
FarmerMaggotV has left the room.
VardaValar1: Any luck with the other room?
FarmerMaggotV: everyone I've invited can get in (Arathorn, Fladrif)
VardaValar1: Try Eonwe Valar
FarmerMaggotV: k
VardaValar1: and everyone here : )
ArPharazonV: 'declined your chat invitation'
Eonwe Valar has left the room.
VardaValar1: Eonwe is in a window with me
VardaValar1: We can try to relay
VardaValar1: Alatar has joined us in World of WarCraft
ArPharazonV: should we open an alternative chatroom?
VardaValar1: His name on Lothar is Morinehtar
VardaValar1: We did, Phar
VardaValar1: Valar Programmers
ArPharazonV: can they join there?
FarmerMaggotV: yea, Eonwe didn't enter, I invited
VardaValar1: From Eonwe:
HeruRasa has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Games Page is up. I'd like members to indicate their primary WoW characters either through Forum (where I ask for it) or through e-mail, so I can put them on the WoW Players Page
VardaValar1: Aiya Ulmo!
VardaValar1: Lot of people having trouble coming in here
VardaValar1: Eonwe just tried the other room and says he can't enter it either
FarmerMaggotV: I stand by my claim that AIM is fubarred :-P
ArPharazonV: Aiya
HeruRasa: I'll be right back
HeruRasa has left the room.
VardaValar1: AIM is trying to act like Bnet. Make us feel at home
VardaValar1: Eonwe said he'll try something more drastic
FarmerMaggotV: oh they've introduced spammers, netsplits, and games?
FarmerMaggotV: oh wait....
VardaValar1: Netsplits they did a while back : ) Maybe now
VardaValar1: spammers aye
HeruRasa has entered the room.
VardaValar1: You made it!
HeruRasa: yeah, on a diff comp
VardaValar1: Is Gothmog coming into Lothar sometime?
HeruRasa: he may in a while, plays with RL friends on a different server now, we are getting a second acct soon
VardaValar1: Sounds like EQ. He never did come on the guild server
VardaValar1: We need to start dragging friends to our servers instead of always us away ;-)
HeruRasa: well, yes he did, but he didnt play EQ much
VardaValar1: okie dokie, I stand corrected
El Capitan Chobo: i gtg go eat so ima be afk
VardaValar1: Sounds like a pleasant reason
VardaValar1: Any further Gaming news?
VardaValar1: Ulmo, you had some good stuff on macros
HeruRasa: I will post some more on that, macros will become very important in time
VardaValar1: Already a help
ArathornValar: I have to step out for a while. Will check the transcript when it's done.
VardaValar1: Namarie
VardaValar1: We are about done with business
ArathornValar: Namarie
HeruRasa: namarie
ArathornValar has left the room.
Eonwe Valar has left the room.
VardaValar1: If anyone knows any of the folk on the current sweep list, you might ask them to drop an email my way
VardaValar1: A number of emails are no longer current
Menelvagor Valar: Rauko has already checked in, right?
VardaValar1: He is active, aye
VardaValar1: Eonwe is talking in a window with me, can't enter either room
VardaValar1: He says that was all his news
HeruRasa: oh, speaking of gaming, why is the trading forum passworded?
VardaValar1: Phar, which of your topics would you like to pick today?
VardaValar1: We always password the forum trading posts
ArPharazonV: hmm... lemme check which subjects are still available
HeruRasa: ok, but why?
VardaValar1: Menelvagor, that is your department : )
Menelvagor Valar: uhm...
Menelvagor Valar: good question actually....
Menelvagor Valar: don't really know, except that it seemed a good idea at the time
VardaValar1: I came in late to administering, just went with it
[Note: the password discussion went on with several people in side windows.
Upshot was let's keep the outsider beggars out of our trading areas.]
ArPharazonV: ok, we dealt with the Army of the Dead...
VardaValar1: Business meeting over, moving to Tolkien
ArPharazonV: Pippin's song has also been found...
VardaValar1: Those with limited time might want to say which games they are going into
ArPharazonV: still haven't found that piece of conversation between Frodo and Gandalf
VardaValar1: Sauron is on WoW
Menelvagor Valar: ah yes
Menelvagor Valar: I remember why I put the passwords on the trading forums
VardaValar1: Share : )
Menelvagor Valar: it was due to the no outside items to Guild characters for D2 / X at the time
ArPharazonV: did we discuss the important role of the timing in Lotr yet?
VardaValar1: Some, Phar, yes
VardaValar1: Could work on it more though
Menelvagor Valar: which piece of conversation Phar?
VardaValar1: What's the next one, Phar
VardaValar1: Oh, bit from Eonwe
ArPharazonV: well, I still have the question why Smeagol would be so reluctant to anything Elvish
VardaValar1: Has everyone signed the charter who is here?
ArPharazonV: this conversation, Menel...
ArPharazonV: ArPharazonV: where Frodo and Gandalf speak, and Gandalf says something like... what was it...
ArPharazonV: ArPharazonV: so do all who see such times. But it is our task to use the time that is given us.ArPharazonV: something like that... can't recall the exact wording
ArPharazonV: where in the books is that part?
Menelvagor Valar: simple
Menelvagor Valar: chapter 2
Menelvagor Valar: Fellowship
Menelvagor Valar: just went past that on my reread :-)
ArPharazonV: I thought so, but couldn't find it... lemme get the book
VardaValar1: WoW charter needs 2 more signatures
Menelvagor Valar: it's just after the part where Gandalf returns after a long absence and starts telling about the Ring and such
Menelvagor Valar: a few more days patience, and I'll be there
VardaValar1: Anyone know Theoden's WoW name?
ArPharazonV: hahaha... thanks Menel, I found it... somewhat earlier in the chapter than I was looking for
ArPharazonV: right after the fiery writing appears on the ring
Menelvagor Valar: yep
ArPharazonV: and I also found the source for Pippin's song...
ArPharazonV: many questions getting answered
VardaValar1: Eonwe will get on WoW and anyone needing to sign can catch him
VardaValar1: Reading will do that : )
HeruRasa: I was #8, just 2 more and we have a guild
VardaValar1: We have the people, just need to be on at the same time : )
ArPharazonV: it also helped, Varda, when in one of the final commentaries (the one about the music) they said the song came from the Fellowship
VardaValar1: Alatar was going to sign, but he got off before meeting time
VardaValar1: hehe - that would help
VardaValar1: I recognized it as one of the versions of the Walking Song, but did not know which. They are all over LotR
ArPharazonV: not Bilbo's famous walking song, though
ArPharazonV: not the road goes ever on and on
FarmerMaggotV: afk, dinner
VardaValar1: Dinner. Sounds good!
ArPharazonV: it's the song that starts with 'Upon the hearth the fire is red'
ArPharazonV: third verse goes like this:
ArPharazonV: Home is behind, the world ahead,
VardaValar1: Menelvagor also had a topic: the movie tried to tell us Aragorn was reluctant to go after the kingship
ArPharazonV: And there are many paths to tread,
Menelvagor Valar: is that when Frodo and Sam are just on the road on the first day of leaving Bag End?
ArPharazonV: Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight.
ArPharazonV: Then world behind and home ahead, We'll wander back to home and bed.
ArPharazonV: Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
ArPharazonV: Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed!
ArPharazonV: that's the third and final verse of the song
ArPharazonV: as you can see, it has been lightly changed, but its mood changed entirely
ArPharazonV: they sing it in the Green Hill Country, Frodo and Sam and Pippin
ArPharazonV: right before another Black Rider comes along, which is right before they see the Elves
VardaValar1: For those reading transcript and don't know, use /join Valar to get in the Valar channel
VardaValar1: Can set it up as a new window. Pardon, doing relay messages
ArPharazonV: but enough of the song... you had a topic, Menel
Menelvagor Valar: indeed
Menelvagor Valar: As we all know, in the Movies, we see Aragorn reluctant to go to Minas Tirith at all
Menelvagor Valar: this is given away by several scenes in the movie, where the authority of Aragorn in the books is diminished
Menelvagor Valar: such as the scene on Caradhras
Menelvagor Valar: where Gimli suggested Moria, instead of Aragorn in the book
Menelvagor Valar: sorry about not being all that specific, but had a rough couple days with little sleep, so hard for me to remember things I even saw a couple days ago
VardaValar1: heh - we can sympathize
ArPharazonV: browsing through appendix A, of Aragorn and Arwen.... could be part of the storyline of the two, adapted for the movies
Menelvagor Valar: oh yeah
VardaValar1: Relaying again. Some of us are sending money to the bank account for WoW, Kalasul, but we don't have near enough to unlock the tabard. Have 3g, 65s, need 10 g for tabard
Menelvagor Valar: one other scene that is important to this, is the conversation between Aragorn and Arwen, where she says: "You are Isildur's heir, not Isildur himself"
VardaValar1: We want to help members get their own, 1g each
ArPharazonV: that was by the Sword, right? In Rivendell?
Menelvagor Valar: where upon he answers: "The same blood flows through my veins."
Menelvagor Valar: or sumthin like that
Menelvagor Valar: aye
Menelvagor Valar: anyways, any thoughts / clarifications / differences in the books here?
ArPharazonV: well, not in the Appendix about Aragorn and Arwen, as far as I can tell in such short time
Menelvagor Valar: and where is the turning point of this whole reluctancy?
ArPharazonV: Boromir, I think
VardaValar1: in the movie
ArPharazonV: would be the true turning point
ArPharazonV: in the movie
VardaValar1: Power cutting on and off over here
Menelvagor Valar: to be honest, I think that was one of the turning points
ArPharazonV: does Aragorn say to him also in the books 'I will not let the White City fall'?
ArPharazonV: and how about the 'the lords of Gondor have returned!'
Menelvagor Valar: I think after Boromir a shadow of a doubt still remained in his heart
ArPharazonV: perhaps Elrond and Anduril, as well as Arwen dying, were another turning point
Menelvagor Valar: (I must admit, I skipped Two Towers movie, so must still see that)
El Capitan Chobo: better late than never
ArPharazonV: really? missing a lot :-)
VardaValar1: scroll : )
HeruRasa: In the books Aragorn may have doubted himself at times, but I never saw any doubt regarding him knowing what he had to do
Menelvagor Valar: I think Anduril and Elrond were the complete turning around
ArPharazonV: aye
VardaValar1: In the movie, he doubted himself a great deal but kept on going
ArPharazonV: the bringing of Anduril, and the news of Arwen almost dying, made him realise he had to go forward
VardaValar1: That bugged me, linking Arwen's life to the fate of the Ring. I never saw it as being made logical
HeruRasa: please reference book or movie in each post, you all losing me :-)
ArPharazonV: well, I think PJ explained it in the audio-commentary
VardaValar1: Sorry
Menelvagor Valar: as can be seen in RotK, he looks rather awe stricken when Eowyn says the Rohirrim have found their captain in him
VardaValar1: Ulmo boycotted the movie. : )
Menelvagor Valar: he wouldn't have been the only one :-)
HeruRasa: well, I watched them reluctantly
VardaValar1: He wasn't. I just couldn't stay away and loved the scenery and a lot of scenes
ArPharazonV: ah yes, Eowyn and Aragorn... I re-read 'the passing of the grey company' today... good chapter
VardaValar1: Oh you did! : )
VardaValar1: I missed having the twins and rangers along, but it did make it tighter for the movie
ArPharazonV: aye, indeed
ArPharazonV: and the Paths of the Dead were made much more graphic
VardaValar1: The skulls were a bit of silliness though, in the extras.
ArPharazonV: hahaha
ArPharazonV: 80000 skulls
ArPharazonV: they also commented on that in the commentary... where did all the other bones go too?
ArPharazonV: are they're piles and chambers of arms and legs somewhere in those mountains?
ArPharazonV: *there
VardaValar1: Maybe the skulls were all stacked cairn style, nice and rolly
VardaValar1: One decisive part to overturn Aragorn's reluctance if any in the books, was that he had to be King to win Arwen
ArPharazonV: yup, that's true
Menelvagor Valar: well
VardaValar1: He already had that ultimatum laid down by Elrond by the time the Fellowship formed. But that left no room in the movie to show his growth
Menelvagor Valar: I kinda disagree there
Menelvagor Valar: since Arwen had already given her heart to him
VardaValar1: Tell your disagreement : )
VardaValar1: Elrond was blocking the marriage
Menelvagor Valar: what I would agree to, is that he had to be King to win Elrond
VardaValar1: lol - well said!
Menelvagor Valar: but I think in the end that would have made no difference to Arwen
ArPharazonV: "She shall not be the bride of any Man less than the King of both Gondor and Arnor."
VardaValar1: Getting past Elrond would have been tough for Arwen
VardaValar1: and she wanted his blessing, I'm sure
ArPharazonV: if you watch the movie, she sure seems able to stand up to him
ArPharazonV: in the beginning of Rotk, at least
Menelvagor Valar: I remember him saying also something like: "and even then I am reluctant"
Menelvagor Valar: so would Aragorn, I'm sure
VardaValar1: Elrond may have been hoping Aragorn could not pull it off ;-)
Menelvagor Valar: he was pretty old-school when it comes to marriage :-)
VardaValar1: Elrond was the father for both of them - sounds a bit weird
Menelvagor Valar: nope
VardaValar1: Middle-earth times were very pre-history
ArPharazonV: "To me then even our victory can bring only sorrow and parting - but to you hope of joy for a while."
Menelvagor Valar: for one thing, Elrond is his great (and add that a couple dozen times) grandpa
HeruRasa: Elros was Aragorn's direct decendant
Menelvagor Valar: as well as his foster father
ArPharazonV: no, Elrond was not his ancestor
Menelvagor Valar: errr
Menelvagor Valar: grand uncle
VardaValar1: Plus Aragorn's adoptive or foster father
ArPharazonV: right
ArPharazonV: grand uncle
HeruRasa: add a few greats "
HeruRasa: oops
Menelvagor Valar: I claim this typo in the name of sleep deprivation :-D
VardaValar1: Elrond fostered all his brother's descendents who were in the line of the kingship
VardaValar1: Go to bed, Menel :-)
Menelvagor Valar: after Meneldir (or sumthin was it)
Menelvagor Valar: escaped the disaster of the Gladden fields
Menelvagor Valar: and where sent to Imladris with the family heirlooms of Anor
Menelvagor Valar: was*
ArPharazonV: I thought his name was something with Val... not Meneldir
ArPharazonV: but I'd have to find Unfinished Tales for that
VardaValar1: Valandil?
ArPharazonV: could be
Menelvagor Valar: should be in Appendix
VardaValar1: Checking, it's him
VardaValar1: he
VardaValar1: And I think he was the one Aragorn resembled physically
ArPharazonV: the fourth son, was he not?
El Capitan Chobo: i gtg Namarie
VardaValar1: Namarie
sauronjag has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Lungorthin : )
El Capitan Chobo has left the room.
sauronjag: heya :-)
Menelvagor Valar: hey there dude
sauronjag: haha hey menelvagor
sauronjag: I have to add ur new sn!
VardaValar1: Lungorthin has Maeglin-(TV)'s Roverandom review up now. Not bad for a ten year old : )
Menelvagor Valar: yep :-)
ArPharazonV: Aiya
sauronjag: not bad at all!
HeruRasa: where?
VardaValar1: Books and Reviews
HeruRasa: that book was great!!
VardaValar1: It's attached to the Encyc, but run by Lungorthin
ArPharazonV: Roverandom... never read that. Is it worth acquiring?
HeruRasa: his only true children's book, but his first ever reference to wizards
VardaValar1: It's Tolkien, Phar ;-)
sauronjag: eh I would argue that the hobbit is very much a childrens book as opposed to his other works
HeruRasa: was originally just a story for Chris, was never meant to be published
ArPharazonV: yes, I know it's Tolkien.... but still... it's not Ea
ArPharazonV: and yes, wasn't the Hobbit a children's book?
HeruRasa: sort of, way too complicated for most children
VardaValar1: Tolkien can't do anything simple : )
ArPharazonV: was Roverandom simple?
HeruRasa: yes
HeruRasa: the story of a lost child's dog toy that became animated and through trials and tribulations finally got back home
ArPharazonV: sounds nice
HeruRasa: has some chapters under water too, so that makes it great ;-)
Menelvagor Valar: simple was "simply" not in his vocabulary 8-)
ArPharazonV: Tolkien? Language-genius? And yet things not in his vocabulary?
Menelvagor Valar: a genius doesn't know the word simple
Menelvagor Valar: I myself have a slogan regarding that
Menelvagor Valar: why do anything easy when it can be done the hard way?
VardaValar1: Lazy genius is the most efficient : )
HeruRasa: sounds like American business practice :-)
ArPharazonV: because it's human nature to do as much things with as little effort as possible?
ArPharazonV: *many things
Menelvagor Valar: if Tolkien would have done that, we wouldn't be having this conversation :-P
ArPharazonV: point taken
HeruRasa: well, in summary; Roverandom isn't ME in any form, but a great book to read to your children or self even.
HeruRasa: I read it to Elanor :-)
ArPharazonV: I'll see... though I'm mainly interested in ME and such, it would be good to add to my collection anyway
VardaValar1: I still have Elanor as a Member of Honor in the listings, btw
HeruRasa: rumour has it that wizards got their first characteristics from it, but I see very little there
ArPharazonV: how about those other books? Farmer Giles, the Father Christmas Letters, and others?
ArPharazonV: they advisable?
ArPharazonV: *recommendable
HeruRasa: Father Christmas letters was the most incredible thing any father could do to make Christmas special
VardaValar1: Leaf by Niggle for sure : )
VardaValar1: We were considering reading from Father Christmas letters for Christmas
HeruRasa: JRRT even made envelopes, stamps and post-marks from the North Pole for his letters :-)
ArPharazonV: well, before I buy anything else, I'll first see if I can get The Adventures of Tom Bombadil, Letters of Tolkien, Journeys of Frodo, Pictures by Tolkien....
VardaValar1: He went all out : )
ArPharazonV: I still have a long way to go before I can consider my collection complete
ArPharazonV: 've got 18 books already... will I ever be satisfied? ;-)
VardaValar1: No : )
VardaValar1: I think we are drifting into after-meeting and a lot of side windows

VardaValar1: I declare this After-meeting
VardaValar1: You can continue chatting or choose up buddies for gaming : )
HeruRasa: hehe, some of us just drifting :-)
ArPharazonV: :-)
ArPharazonV: well, I was originally planning to wait even longer for my rp-post
ArPharazonV: but the feast looked like as good a time as any to disturb ;-)
VardaValar1: Good spot. Add excitement
VardaValar1: I was wondering how to dance with a Noldo or Dwarf. Getting to be a tough situation
VardaValar1: Might rescue them : )
ArPharazonV: original plan was to drop by when everybody was asleep... but this adds excitement, yes
FladrifV: namarie
ArPharazonV: Namarie
FladrifV: sorry I wasn;t that active :-)
ArPharazonV: you didn't say much :-)

FladrifV: will send pictures when its done :P
HeruRasa: wooden case part sounds good :-)
ArPharazonV: nothing wrong with good old wood :-)
FladrifV: dark wood with aluminium foots
FladrifV: looks good in companion with non japanese stereo's ;-)
HeruRasa: kinda partial to teak or mahogany with bronze , but sounds cool
FladrifV: :-)
FladrifV: thx namarie :-)
FladrifV: girlfriend is complaining :-)
HeruRasa: later Fladrif
FladrifV has left the room.
Menelvagor Valar: I guess it's about time for bed for me
VardaValar1: Good night, Menel : )
Menelvagor Valar: Namarie and good night to you all :-)
HeruRasa: g'night
VardaValar1: Good night : )

VardaValar1: With 5 of us playing it, going to grab

HeruRasa: woot, ok :-)

HeruRasa has left the room.
