You have just entered room "ValarGuildMeetingplace."
Before-meeting:
VardaValar1: !list
bnetValar: musics4me (Bnet): woosh :-)
bnetValar: musics4me (Bnet): I was thinking -> for messages from Battle.net should it strip off the @Azeroth or w/e?
VardaValar1: Shows which game they are in, is ok
bnetValar: musics4me (Bnet): k
bnetValar has left the room.
VardaValar1: So Diablo guys will show up as regular names?
bnetValar has entered the room.
bnetValar has left the room.
Menelvagor Valar has entered the room.
ArPharazonV has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: Aiya all
ArPharazonV: pc very unstable at the moment
VardaValar1: Aiya :-)
VardaValar1: Sounds familiar
ArPharazonV: closes down at unpredictable moments, and I have to leave it off for a long time before I can use it again
ArPharazonV: also, college starting tomorrow, so I can't stay long anyway
ArPharazonV: perhaps until 6 pm EST
ArPharazonV: probably not later
ArPharazonV: so I may 'leave' at any moment, and won't be reliable for the transcript
VardaValar1: okie dokie, thanks for letting us know!
ArPharazonV: but I hope that, even should I shut down before the meeting even starts, this brief appearance is enough to make the attendants-list ;-)
VardaValar1: It is indeed :-)
VardaValar1: We just want to know you're still interested, show up and that says you remember us :-)
ArPharazonV: I'll always remember you :-)
ArPharazonV: hhmm... ad-aware says it has found one critical object so far...
VardaValar1: awww (from us all)
VardaValar1: They pop up from nearly every surf, seems like
ArPharazonV: but still, I'm trying to find the cause of this instability
ArPharazonV: I've already gotten rid of every virus AVG has detected
VardaValar1: AVG is very good
VardaValar1: Try defrag?
VardaValar1: Better yet, check all cables for being loose or a chair leg on it?
ArPharazonV: no chair leg on it... but I'll check the cables tomorrow, sounds good
ArPharazonV: and I'll defrag after this
VardaValar1: That is a problem we are having, intermittent connection due to cable between DSL modem and router
ArPharazonV: you're saying it's just internet-problems? I don't have that.... it even bugs when I'm not online
VardaValar1: Mine is just internet, yes
VardaValar1: Offline, probably a problem in your comp
ArPharazonV: just one strange detail...
ArPharazonV: often, when I reboot, but not always, the date and time my pc is set on is set back
ArPharazonV: sometimes even to 2001
Menelvagor Valar: ok, here
Menelvagor Valar: was playing some CounterStrike :-)
VardaValar1: Might write down all the weirdnesses it is doing, then take it to repair shop with clues to speed them up
VardaValar1: Oh cool :-)
VardaValar1: Using guild name on that?
VardaValar1: We need to help coordinate guild buddies, lots like C/S
Menelvagor Valar: nope
Menelvagor Valar: using my old Turgon for that
Menelvagor Valar: haven't seen any of us so far there, so I figured there was no need
Menelvagor Valar: did change my MSN tho
Menelvagor Valar: kinda anyways :-)
VardaValar1: : )
Arwen V1 has left the room.
Menelvagor Valar: just added a couple frequently used names to my screenname :-)
VardaValar1: Our guys are around, just uncoordinated
Arwen V1 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: We had some who were going to try to coordinate, but it kind of bombed
Menelvagor Valar: I don't play CS that often at any rate
VardaValar1: Aiya Arwen : )
VardaValar1: Even a once a week get-together is fun
Menelvagor Valar: oh well.... usually every night lol
Menelvagor Valar: but usually in a server that is ..... well.... less fun to some players
VardaValar1: If you go on the same time of day, it's easier to get buddies to join in
Menelvagor Valar: first of all, it is frequented by some cheaters
Menelvagor Valar: not much, but there is a regular occurence
Menelvagor Valar: 2nd, it's a 1-map server
bnetValar has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: Aiya
Menelvagor Valar: basically a "pick up your weapon and start shooting" map
Menelvagor Valar: very small
Menelvagor Valar: a grenade can easily reach one end from the other end
Menelvagor Valar: and to top it off, there are some very good players around there
Menelvagor Valar: I'm not too shabby myself, but I can't really measure up to the good ones
bnetValar has left the room.
bnetValar has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: well, it managed to delete the 'critical object'... perhaps there is hope after all :-)
ArPharazonV: time to defrag
VardaValar1: good luck
ArPharazonV: says I don't have to defrag.... but I'll defrag anyway... but I guess it'll have to wait for tomorrow, though, when I'm not in a meeting :-)
VardaValar1: or if you leave early, leave the comp on defrag
Menelvagor Valar: running adawar myself right now...
Menelvagor Valar: of 60k files scanned, just a meager 52 crit objects
ArPharazonV: lol
ArPharazonV: I had 1
ArPharazonV: 1 thing only
Menelvagor Valar: have seen 600+ on 50k files
FarmerMaggotV has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: Aiya
Menelvagor Valar: you got Kazaa Phar?
FarmerMaggotV has left the room.
bnetValar has left the room.
Orodreth V has entered the room.
FarmerMaggotV has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Orodreth : )
Orodreth V: Aiya
ArPharazonV: Aiya
bnetValar has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: Kazaalite
ArPharazonV: ++, I believe
Menelvagor Valar: ok
Menelvagor Valar: with Kazaa full version, Adaware deletes a couple Kazaa files needed to run it
Menelvagor Valar: don't know if that is the same with lite
ArPharazonV: it's a good thing I switched a long time ago then :-)
ArPharazonV: kazaalite still works, though
FarmerMaggotV: I think lite is spyware/adware free (From what I've heard)
bnetValar has left the room.
FarmerMaggotV has left the room.
FarmerMaggotV has entered the room.
FarmerMaggotV: Fladrif -> do you think you could run my bridge on one of your boxes? my net connection keeps dying
ArPharazonV: I've started re-reading the Silmarillion now, now in the chapter about the sun and moon
VardaValar1: good one
VardaValar1: Course I'm biased ;-)
Orodreth V: I was bored yesterday, so I wrote the lyrics up for the power of the horde..but I can't figure one line out completly.
ArPharazonV: noticed that the song about it was called the Narsilion
ArPharazonV: Nar for the Sun, and Sil for the Moon
ArPharazonV: which made me think about Elendil's sword...
ArPharazonV: ooh, ooh, speaking about lyrics
ArPharazonV: some time ago I asked you for a translation on a Spanish song
Orodreth V: So if anyone here regulary decyphers hard rock/metal/ect lyrics, it'd be nice if you could help me. :-P
ArPharazonV: today I did some extensive searching on the web, and got the translation myself... which means that question is finally answered
Orodreth V: Asked me?
Orodreth V: why in Eru's name would you do that?
Orodreth V: MY spanish skills are barely passable as a 3 year old.
ArPharazonV: no, not you in person...
FarmerMaggotV has left the room.
ArPharazonV: the guild, I think
Chugin Chub has entered the room.
Orodreth V: Oh.
ArPharazonV: or just Varda for some contact
ArPharazonV: not sure
Chugin Chub: hello
GilraenV has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: but anyway...
ArPharazonV: Aiya
Orodreth V: hat explains it.
ArPharazonV: ... the problem is solved now
GilraenV: Aiya
FladrifV has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: http://www.forumsx.net/showthread.php?s= 4e2b2fb47c2cfb620ba5a100537ff91a&t=2 1669
Orodreth V: so anyone here good at decyphering hard rock/metal/whatever lyrics?
STEvilaim has entered the room.
VardaValar1: You made it : )
STEvilaim: 'lo
VardaValar1: Aiya
Orodreth V: I can't tell if I'm right on two lines.
ArPharazonV: check the link, Oro
ArPharazonV: may not be accurate, but in one of the posts lyrics are given
Orodreth V: I've seen a dozen of them, they're all useless.
Orodreth V: I'll lookt hough.
ArPharazonV: post 7
FarmerMaggotV has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: STORM Black clouds fill the sky. EARTH I hear my battle cry. FIRE Thunder will bring forth... DEATH From the power of the Horde...
ArPharazonV: http://p205.ezboard.com/fbluesclubfrm95.sh owMessage?topicID=150.topic
ArPharazonV: but I think that's from the same source
DwarfKing20 has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: Aiya
ArPharazonV: first guess: Thror?
DwarfKing20: hello
ArPharazonV: oh wait, he's here already
Chugin Chub: nope i am thror :P
ArPharazonV: yeah
ArPharazonV: hello
ArPharazonV: ... who are you?
Chugin Chub: this is a friend testing :-)
ArPharazonV: ah, ok
ArPharazonV: wow, surprised my pc has held out this long... wonder how long it takes...
ArPharazonV: *knocks on wood*
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
FarmerMaggotV has left the room.
ArPharazonV: Aiya
Eonwe Valar: heya
Chugin Chub: hail eonwe
Eonwe Valar: How goes it?
Chugin Chub: good your self
Eonwe Valar: Not too bad, except for the homework.
ArPharazonV: menel, what should I do with 'negligible' objects and references?
Menelvagor Valar: just right click on one of the objects displayed, click on select all
Menelvagor Valar: and just throw em away
ArPharazonV: ok
FarmerMaggotV has entered the room.
FarmerMaggotV: gah, I'll be in and out I guess, something's wrong with the netconnection
Menelvagor Valar: (I don't have negligible objects btw, just plain crit objects and ignored)
ArPharazonV: I barely noticed them, actually
ArPharazonV: but good riddance anyway
HeruRasa has entered the room.
HeruRasa: heyas
Eonwe Valar: Heya
ArPharazonV: Aiya
Eonwe Valar: Varda afk?
VardaValar1: Have mercy : )
VardaValar1: a zillion windows going
Menelvagor Valar: Varda having troubles with webwork, talking and lots lots more :-)
Menelvagor Valar: tho she found the time to beat me to telling y'all :-)
Eonwe Valar: ah ok :}
VardaValar1: :-)
STEvilaim: zillion plus 1 ;-)
FarmerMaggotV has left the room.
Menelvagor Valar: a zillion pretty much counts as infinite with me :-)
VardaValar1: DwarfKing20, friend of Thror, glad you could come : )
VardaValar1: Let's start up formally
VardaValar1: We have been going hard informally for a good while!
top

VardaValar1: Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo
VardaValar1: Member News
VardaValar1: Sweep is still in progress
VardaValar1: People keep popping in with email or other ways, so it is still very much unknown yet
VardaValar1: May have to run into Feb a bit since I started late. Sorry about that
DwarfKing20 has left the room.
VardaValar1: Any other member news?
Orodreth V: We've given up getting DSL.
Chugin Chub: i got wow
Orodreth V: And I'll get cable instead..eventually..
Menelvagor Valar: uhm.... not member news lol
VardaValar1: Oro is hoping for cable instead : )
Orodreth V: I hope..
Menelvagor Valar: Chugin that is :-)
Orodreth V: *cry*
Chugin Chub: but my comp doesnt meet requirerments. . .
VardaValar1: Thror, ouch!
VardaValar1: Getting upgraded?
STEvilaim: I'm doing product beta testing for OCZ and handling some front page news for www.xtremesystems.org, does that count for member news? lol
Chugin Chub: that what i said felt and anvil drop in my stomach
VardaValar1: Yes : )
VardaValar1: How do we recognize you on the page?
FarmerMaggotV has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: For those who may be worried about it, WoW runs fairly well on regular old dial-up, and usually I don't notice any real lag even at around 500 latency.
Orodreth V: Hmm, we have enough Wc3ers around to get the clan back up on b.net?
STEvilaim: good question.. dont have names up on it
VardaValar1: Oro, pm that to Eonwe and we can go into it under Gaming
Orodreth V: Yea, that just came to me, sorry.
VardaValar1: np : )
VardaValar1: Good thought
VardaValar1: We'll take a look at the page anyway, Scatha
VardaValar1: Could you tell us what you do on it, since they don't credit?
STEvilaim: ok ;-)
STEvilaim: just submit news items that are fit for the page
VardaValar1: oh good. Maybe you can do that for us too ;-)
STEvilaim: sounds fun
STEvilaim: heh
VardaValar1: Anyone in the guild can send in news about gaming and Tolkien
VardaValar1: This means all of you : )
VardaValar1: Or toss it in the Forum, as you like
VardaValar1: Any other Member news?
VardaValar1: DwarfKing wants to join, but his comp crashed
VardaValar1: Would like a test if he can return, comp willing

VardaValar1: Web News:
sauronjag has entered the room.
VardaValar1: We have a lot of members working away on the pages
VardaValar1: Aiya Lungorthin!
VardaValar1: We just started on Web News
sauronjag: Heyas
Chugin Chub: hello
ArPharazonV: Aiya
sauronjag: No news from me, trying to get dreamweaver again. I lost mine. :-(
VardaValar1: ouch!
VardaValar1: Meanwhile, could use free Netscape Composer?
STEvilaim: mozilla comes with a built in webpage editor
VardaValar1: or HTML
sauronjag: yeah I have to download it again
FarmerMaggotV: no real loss ;-), it's just dreamweaver :-P
Menelvagor Valar: could try to learn html editing :P
sauronjag: haha
VardaValar1: All thse nice free things : )
Eonwe Valar: Microsoft Word can also make web pages
FarmerMaggotV: Yeah, use notpad + firefox (for previewing)
FarmerMaggotV: :-P
VardaValar1: Need HTML with nearly any program, really helps
Menelvagor Valar: www.pagetutor.com
VardaValar1: Word puts in a lot of junk code, but that's true!
Menelvagor Valar: teaches the basics pretty good
Eonwe Valar: Word makes it real easy
Menelvagor Valar: uhm....
Eonwe Valar: aye, it does inflate the file with a bunch of stuff
GilraenV: ick. you just need notepad firefox and ie. with psp to play with images ^.~
VardaValar1: HTML editor can clean it up
FarmerMaggotV: http://www.echoecho.com/css.htm
Menelvagor Valar: use wordpad + explorer browser for preview lol
DwarfKing20 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: I do a lot of that with the Encyc
FarmerMaggotV: http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp
VardaValar1: Welcome back, DwarfKing
FarmerMaggotV: http://www.htmlhelp.com/reference/css/
DwarfKing20: hello
Menelvagor Valar: welcome back :-)
DwarfKing20: thanx
VardaValar1: Arathorn has made a screenshot page for WoW
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/arathorn/wow/snapshots /wow_reg.htm
Menelvagor Valar: seen them
VardaValar1: We are having a little problem finding a way for members to give him snapshots and it is eating our server room
Menelvagor Valar: need a little more diversity there
VardaValar1: We will overcome : )
Menelvagor Valar: nothing but Haran :-)
VardaValar1: Billboh is there : )
VardaValar1: When we work out the submitting problem, should be more diversity
Menelvagor Valar: I meant from Haran point of view :-)
VardaValar1: Aye
VardaValar1: I sent him a few, might go up
VardaValar1: Any other web news?
ArPharazonV: nice screenies they were... keep em coming
VardaValar1: Gaming News:
Menelvagor Valar: web news....
Menelvagor Valar: since it was in the news...
VardaValar1: web news : )
Menelvagor Valar: I guess we should announce it here as well :-)
VardaValar1: Which?
Menelvagor Valar: Humor Pages
Menelvagor Valar: As soon as I get my webspace on the server
Menelvagor Valar: I will take over the Humor Pages
VardaValar1: They have not yet been shifted, but we hope to have the change-over
Menelvagor Valar: soon :-)
Menelvagor Valar: very soon we hope :-)
VardaValar1: I have had little time for them and Menel offered to take them off my hands : )
VardaValar1: Much appreciated!
Menelvagor Valar: need something to do 8-)
VardaValar1: Any other web news?
FarmerMaggotV has left the room.
VardaValar1: *looks around cautiously*
top

VardaValar1: Gaming News:
VardaValar1: Eonwe, go ahead : )
FarmerMaggotV has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: THanks
Eonwe Valar: First, I'd like to ask how many WC3 players we have here tonight. If we have enough (10), we can reform the Valar Guild in WC3.
FarmerMaggotV: I could install it if need be
VardaValar1: I can bring in accounts, but we don't actually play much. Mostly LAN
Orodreth V: Mememeoooooooopickmepickme
ArPharazonV: well, I'm in another clan at the moment
ArPharazonV: only the leader can boot me, and I will ask him to should our branch reassemble
Eonwe Valar: This is stictly if you're interested. Having people install it just to form the guild and then not playing won't help.
ArPharazonV: I am interested, as always
ArPharazonV: but I'll only rejoin after a re-assembling is assured
Eonwe Valar: you should be able to remove yourself from the group, Phar
GilraenV: Gwai will be back in.... about 2 and a half hours, I think
ArPharazonV: how?
VardaValar1: Thanks Gil
Eonwe Valar: never actually used it, hehe, but it would be strange if players couldn't leave of their own accord
ArPharazonV: well, I'll look into that... but still, I'm not leaving this one until I'm sure I can join the Guild-branch
Eonwe Valar: might be a simple command like /clan quit
Eonwe Valar: understandable Phar
bnetValar has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: so I won't just quit to see if we have enough... only when we have enough to last a while
VardaValar1: Anyone else a WC3/TFT player in here?
ArPharazonV: thanks for the understanding, I knew you would
Orodreth V: *mutter*stupidwow*mutter*
bnetValar has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: I count 2 people, besides myself
Orodreth V: Menelvagoris in valar right now with me..
Orodreth V: Menelvagor is*
Eonwe Valar: He didn't speak up here :} but aye, that makes 3
Eonwe Valar: Last call for today, anyone else?
Orodreth V: Bother.
Menelvagor Valar: lucky #3 here, so none from me :-)
Eonwe Valar: If you're interested and afk, this is a very good time to come back to the keyboard :}
Menelvagor Valar: Gwai has wc3
VardaValar1: *poke poke*
Menelvagor Valar: but at work I guess
VardaValar1: Gilraen, you know if Gwaihir would be interested?
Eonwe Valar: "has it" and "plays it" are two different things.
GilraenV: He probably would be
Orodreth V: Oh well. :-\
Eonwe Valar: so at best we have 4. that gives us half our required ten. Not bad for an initial try.
Menelvagor Valar: well
Menelvagor Valar: I know he used to play it a lot
Menelvagor Valar: but that was pre-WoW
Menelvagor Valar: and once I get WoW, I will most likely pretty much abandon TFT as well
Orodreth V: *mutter*diewowdie*mutter*
GilraenV: lol Oro
Eonwe Valar: well that really means we only have 3 people for WC3
Orodreth V: This is kinda funny.
AlatarValar2 has entered the room.
Orodreth V: We have less active Wc3ers then we had active WoSers at one point.
VardaValar1: That is funny : )
VardaValar1: Still have Well of Souls going?
Orodreth V: My patchetic little game is beating out WC3.
ArPharazonV: well, perhaps I'll abandon war3 as well after I get WoW.. although I'm not sure, I'm taking a liking to many custom maps in war3
Orodreth V: Off an on.
VardaValar1: You can play more than one game, people : )
VardaValar1: Keeps you from burning out on any one game
Eonwe Valar: too bad we don't hav eanyone taking a liking to making custom WC3 maps.
Orodreth V: I get cable I'll split my time between WC3 and WoS probally.
ArPharazonV: of course... but I'm spending too much time behind the pc already
bnetValar has entered the room.
VardaValar1: And loving every minute : )
Orodreth V: Then Purge or BW or somethng when I get bored.
ArPharazonV: either one of them will have to go, or I can't play either of them nearly as much as I'd like
GilraenV: wow is addictive... it doesn't like sharing the players with other games
HeruRasa: 2 games is fine, but having 2 that require monthly charge is tough
Menelvagor Valar: well, I like to make maps....
Menelvagor Valar: but TFT is pretty hard to figure out
Orodreth V: I do too.. I'm just horrible at it.
VardaValar1: When WoW and MeO are out at the same time, will be tough
ArPharazonV: I've also got a load of Single-player games still waiting to be finished
Menelvagor Valar: I did edit a couple tho
ArPharazonV: Dungeon Siege and expansion, Morrowind and expansions, TA:K....
Orodreth V: TA:K is a wasteof time.
Eonwe Valar: That's it for WC3 news.
ArPharazonV: not to mention Oblivion and DS 2 on the way
Orodreth V: Sell it.
Orodreth V: Burn it.
Orodreth V: something.
Eonwe Valar: WoW news:
ArPharazonV: TA:K campaign is amazing, IMO
ArPharazonV: but still searching for expansion
ArPharazonV: but I'll shut up now
VardaValar1: Eonwe has the floor : )
FladrifV: !list
Chugin Chub: um under wow new has any one made a dwarf character?
VardaValar1: (!list command is a pm to bnetvalar)
Menelvagor Valar: Arathorn
Menelvagor Valar: (Haran)
VardaValar1: Eonwe's floor
Eonwe Valar: The WoW Charter draft has been posted on the Forum. Comments will be taken for one week from it's posting (yesterday), after which the final draft will be composed for the WoW Valar Guild Page.
Menelvagor Valar: what channel is the bridge in Fladrif?
Eonwe Valar: Tabard:
FarmerMaggotV: MenelVagor: Public Chat Valar
VardaValar1: News also has that Bridge connection info
Eonwe Valar: As you may know, we have gathered enough gold to purchase the design. I've looked at the designs, and we're going with the flame, blue background, leaf border.
Menelvagor Valar: (and mIRC?)
Eonwe Valar: oen sec and I'll provide links.
Eonwe Valar: http://www.worldofwar.net/tabard/tabbard- 32-2-2-21-1.jpg
Eonwe Valar: http://www.worldofwar.net/tabard/tabbard- 32-2-2-21-16.jpg
Menelvagor Valar: nice!
Eonwe Valar: One of these is a red flame, the other a yellowish flame
Menelvagor Valar: both nice
Menelvagor Valar: personally, I'd go for 2nd tho
Menelvagor Valar: (the yellow one)
Eonwe Valar: The red flame is a bit hard to see IMO, so I'm leaning towards the yellow flame
Menelvagor Valar: same reason here Eonwe :-)
GilraenV: yellowish goes better with the border
HeruRasa: aye, red on blue never shows well
VardaValar1: I like yellow flame
AlatarValar2 has left the room.
bnetValar: Menelvagor-Vala@Azeroth (Bnet): (testing)
AlatarValar2 has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: The leaf border I gave a bronzish look.
ArPharazonV: yellow flame sounds good
Eonwe Valar: Since the system was different in this tabard viewer, I couldn't 1:1 match our previous choices, so got close as possible
ArPharazonV: I noticed the leaf border the first time I saw the new tabard viewer, and thought it would be perfect for us
Eonwe Valar: So we all like the second tabard?
ArPharazonV: aye
HeruRasa: aye
ArPharazonV: not sure about the Bronze look, though... I would have expected something more green
GilraenV: Indeed
ArPharazonV: but still, I'm sure you've given thought to it
Eonwe Valar: I did consider green for a bit, thought this stood out better
HeruRasa: green and blue together doesn't work well
Eonwe Valar: Green usually gets at least a glance from me :}
ArPharazonV: ok
ArPharazonV: I'm sure this stands out the best
HeruRasa: green is the color of the ocean, always gets a glance from me :-)
VardaValar1: Yellow over red from Eowyn, Bilbo, Varda
ArPharazonV: besides, bronzish gives a more Valarish look to it instead of 'mere' Elvish
ArPharazonV: I like -ish
VardaValar1: Bronze is fine
Eonwe Valar: Got a couple of "fun" looks I did as well, just not as fitting as this one
ArPharazonV: wow, pc still alive... amazing...
Eonwe Valar: OK, so looks like we all approve :}
ArPharazonV: yup
AlatarValar2: Does the guild need to pay for this tabard? I mean, I know that members need to pay 1 gold for the tabard itself, but does the guild have to pay to "register" the tabard design?
Eonwe Valar: Congratulations then, Valar Guild. In a matter of moments you will have your tabard :}
Eonwe Valar: Aye, the GUild has to pay 10 silver
Eonwe Valar: er, 10 gold
VardaValar1: We already collected the gold to unlock the tabard for the guild
AlatarValar2: We did? Okay. :-)
AlatarValar2: Just checking
VardaValar1: It's ok if you want to help members buy their tabard
Eonwe Valar: Was announced at many of the meetings, and on the Forum, hehe :}
AlatarValar2: Not that I have any gold at the moment, having just trained..........
ArPharazonV: small question: has it any effect at all to put 'bnetvalar' in buddy-list?
VardaValar1: Sometimes hard to collect a gold
AlatarValar2: Easy to collect a gold at 60, very hard to collect a gold at 6, varying degrees of difficulty inbetween.
Menelvagor Valar: gonna be hard on me as I am used to collect about 500 gold average per hour in DaoC =-O
VardaValar1: So if you want to toss some gold for that purpose to Kalasul, the guild bank held by Auros, that would be nice
ArPharazonV: how much was platinum again, Menel?
Eonwe Valar: I'm now in Stormwind at the tabard vendor and guild master.
Menelvagor Valar: 1k gold
FarmerMaggotV: afk, dinner
AlatarValar2: Again, that's as a level 50. I remember being a newbie in DAoC, thinking I would NEVER see a gold piece. When I had five level 50s, I had plat coming out my pockets.
ArPharazonV: well, perhaps you should compare the WoW gold with the DAoC plat instead
AlatarValar2: No, it's similar. When we have top level characters in WoW, we will also chuckle about the memory of wanting "one gold."
ArPharazonV: lol
VardaValar1: But we hope to keep gaining new folk, and they could use help
ArPharazonV: I myself am looking forward to my first silver ;-)
ArPharazonV: btw, the second phase of the Europe beta started this weekend
AlatarValar2: Aye, which is why we should dedicate ourselves to achieving our own success so that we may help those younger as they join with us. :-)
Menelvagor Valar: Al, that´s coming from my 47 necro :-D
HeruRasa: getting extremely rich, twinking alts with great items, or in any other way becoming extremely uber seems to have been avoided in WoW, I am quite pleased how they have done this
ArPharazonV: I had created an account, but shut down right before the end
DwarfKing20 has left the room.
ArPharazonV: and when I returned, the signups were over, and my account apparently didn't make it
ArPharazonV: so I just missed the beta, unfortunately
VardaValar1: Anyone who can get into WoW, might want to do so : )
ArPharazonV: stupid computer...
VardaValar1: Cheer Eonwe on : )
Menelvagor Valar: I think nothing unfortunate about it :-)
AlatarValar2: Hmm, well twinking isn't possible to the same extreme as in D2X and DAoC, but it is still quite possible. I have collected a number of nice items that will make my priest's career advancement much easier than my paladin's has been.
Eonwe Valar: One he can use said items :}
Eonwe Valar: *once
Menelvagor Valar: well, able to use one, is making it easier to get to use the rest :-)
AlatarValar2: Aye, but having nice green letters items waiting for you as SOON as you reach a level to use them *is* twinking.
AlatarValar2: And having a full rack of bags, for example.
AlatarValar2: Or coin
Grimbold V has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya
VardaValar1: Eonwe is going after the tabard in StormWind
Grimbold V: Aiya
Eonwe Valar: hmm these options are easier to see on the web page
Grimbold V: Qool deal
ArPharazonV: Aiya
AlatarValar2: Mind you, I am a huge fan of twinking. One of my pleasures in playing a game like this is the collecting of items and passing them on to younger alts or others. I LIKE gathering stuff. :-) Each person has their own enjoyments, heh.
VardaValar1: Billboh is logging into WoW, has a tabard and we hope to see it gain colors
Menelvagor Valar: some web news.....
Menelvagor Valar: the bridge to IRC isn
Menelvagor Valar: ´t working properly
Eonwe Valar: hmm it's like the order of things changes each time you click on her. I don't envy the guys who put the viewer together.
Menelvagor Valar: FM was looking into it before going off to dinner
VardaValar1: FM has been working on it all day
Menelvagor Valar: he usually does work on one thing or another the entire day :-)
Orodreth V: afk
VardaValar1: Thror wants to talk about console games that are online, guild can go into
Menelvagor Valar: too expensive to go online with them imo
Chugin Chub: i realy dont know you would need to buy the modem for it
Chugin Chub: but
Chugin Chub: i know halo is a big thing wounder if any guild members play it online
Chugin Chub: or any othr games on the cousole
Chugin Chub: i have a gamecube, and nintendo doesnt really have online play
VardaValar1: Some do, but many of us are not present at the meeting
Chugin Chub: oh
Chugin Chub: went silen
VardaValar1: not silent here : )
Chugin Chub: thought i need to break ice
Chugin Chub: could alway get the dwarf ax out and swing away at it there is strength in these old hands yet :P
STEvilaim: I need to go do some work, will be idle for an hour or two
VardaValar1: okies
STEvilaim: not that I havent been idle most of the time already ;-)
Chugin Chub: any way just thought maybe some one would be interested
VardaValar1: At this point, many of us are doign other things
Chugin Chub: i see
VardaValar1: Going for tabard, side discussions, web work
top

VardaValar1: Anyone have a Tolkien topic?
Chugin Chub: did the balrog in the felllow ship have a name?
Menelvagor Valar: not that we know of
Menelvagor Valar: least not in Sil / UT or LoTR
Menelvagor Valar: might have one in BoLT
Menelvagor Valar: but not sure
Chugin Chub: never got around to reading that
Menelvagor Valar: same here
Menelvagor Valar: besides, only got part 1 and 2 of BoLT
VardaValar1: Durin's Bane
ArPharazonV: 'Durin's Bane' :-)
ArPharazonV: lol
HeruRasa: I have read UT, BoLT 1 and 2, and found no name
HeruRasa: being a corrupted Maia it should have on, at least in theory if not actuality
HeruRasa: on = one
Menelvagor Valar: well....
VardaValar1: But no one seemed to address it by name in the book, so we are out of luck : )
Menelvagor Valar: there were a number who fell in the Battle for Gondolin, who had no names
VardaValar1: The early version had a lot of Balrogs, not nearly as strong as the last version
VardaValar1: By the time of Durin's Bane, a sword was not enough to kill it
HeruRasa: early version?
Chugin Chub: evolution ?
ArPharazonV: the early version, aye, in BoLT
VardaValar1: BoLT has early version
Menelvagor Valar: well.... they didn´t die by just sword in Gondolin either
ArPharazonV: the early narrative
ArPharazonV: I believe some of those heroes slew like half adozen each?
Menelvagor Valar: Elven crafted steel and Elven Prowess
VardaValar1: The early one made them much less than Durin's Bane was
ArPharazonV: and dozens were killed at the hands of the Royal Guard?
Menelvagor Valar: well...
ArPharazonV: perhaps Durin's Bane got to rest a bit, and feed of the dark powers in the bowels of the Earth
Menelvagor Valar: how about considering them to have grown stronger over the ages?
Menelvagor Valar: just like Dragons grow stronger as they grow older?
ArPharazonV: like Ungoliant fed on the lights and gems, it might have grown from the Darkness and evil surrounding it
ArPharazonV: or like Dragons, aye
Chugin Chub: wisdom dos come with age :-)
Menelvagor Valar: it could also have to do with being one of the few of Morgoth´s servants yet alive
Menelvagor Valar: and therefore the stronger
VardaValar1: I think JRRT also decided to make their numbers only a few, not the masses in BoLT
Menelvagor Valar: in Sil, Sauron wasn´t way near as strong as in LotR
VardaValar1: We can re-work the story to fit : )
ArPharazonV: hmm... you may have a point, Turg
ArPharazonV: it is said Morgoth spent his strength and power in the Earth and his servants
ArPharazonV: therefore, it would make sense, that if there are less servants about, they'd have a greater share of his power
Menelvagor Valar: which has a weak point as well
Menelvagor Valar: since Morgoth has been behind the Gates of Night in the Void
VardaValar1: Always a trade-off somewhere
Menelvagor Valar: he hasn´t been able to *power-up* his servants directly
bnetValar: SirG3 (IRC): (Testing the IRC end of the bridge before I go do homework)
ArPharazonV: but anyway, has Sauron's power really grown out of itself, or is it due to the land he took for its own? I'm sure Orodruin will have contributed something to him
bnetValar: Menelvagor-Valar (IRC): hey, works here
ArPharazonV: and I believe there was some sort of link between the servants of Melkor, even after his disappearance... which would mean his power would shift to other servants instead of dissipating into thin air
Menelvagor Valar: possibly
Menelvagor Valar: but I tend to the aging and powering up by age more
ArPharazonV: and although Melkor couldn't physically re-enter, he could enter the minds of those of Earth, and the seeds of evil he has planted still have a long way to go before extermination
Menelvagor Valar: Melkor did gain great power throughout the time he spent in Beleriand
Menelvagor Valar: although he did in fact power down through his investments
HeruRasa: Hmm, I would find it hard to believe Melkor could do anything after being bannished to the Void
Menelvagor Valar: well
Menelvagor Valar: it was said he could still influence a little bit
Menelvagor Valar: but most of what he did was simply through the seeds he had planted millenia before
Menelvagor Valar: and going to restart my aim, kb not exactly going right with it
Menelvagor Valar: brb
Menelvagor Valar has left the room.
Menelvagor Valar has entered the room.
Menelvagor Valar: back
Menelvagor Valar: ow darn
Chugin Chub: wb:-)
Menelvagor Valar: forgot to save before restarting..... :-(
HeruRasa: There is certainly much evel left behind by Morgoth. But if the Void is anything like it's name implies, and after screwing up the first time, I can't see the Valar sending him anywhere he could still influence ME.
Menelvagor Valar: which leaves the power-up by age theory
Menelvagor Valar: and for the Elves and Men in the first age, that was certainly true as well
Eonwe Valar: Balrogs in the early tales of the Fall of Gondolin were slain by the scores (to the hands of both elves and some men), so they're barely more than uglier orcs in BoLT. In the Sil, they truly are demons of might, being Maiar given a
Eonwe Valar: portion of Morgoth's power to coax them into joining him.
Menelvagor Valar: although I must admit Men can't really enter into the equasion, because of their mortality, are way more visible for "powering-up"
bnetValar has left the room.
Menelvagor Valar: well...
Menelvagor Valar: in Sil there are a number of Balrogs slain as well
Eonwe Valar: And it would be strange to have a "powering up" when Tolkien's world seems to be "winding down"
Eonwe Valar: There are a few Balrogs slain
Chugin Chub: well i got to go but do keep an eye open for dwarfking he said he would be back on need to go to a vidoe store
Menelvagor Valar: but usually they were smart enough not to mingle in the battle until the end :-)
ArPharazonV: was Sauron himself actually more powerful later than in the Silm?
Chugin Chub: namarie
Eonwe Valar: I recall 3 total from both LotR and Sil
ArPharazonV: Namarie
Chugin Chub has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: And they were beaten by very tough opponents in single combat
Menelvagor Valar: true
Eonwe Valar: Fingon, High King of the Noldor, fought Gothmog and lost, because another Balrog came from behind.
ArPharazonV: sure, Sauron had a lot more servants, and a greater territory, but was he actually that much greater as individual?
Menelvagor Valar: in the Sil, I can't recall Sauron having more than sorcerous abilities, rarely used or mentioned
Eonwe Valar: Ecthelion of the Fountain fought him in single combat and won, but lost his own life in the process.
ArPharazonV: oh, Eonwe, let's not forget Glorfindel
Menelvagor Valar: and again, lost his life in the process
ArPharazonV: he fought that other Balrog... which could indeed be the second Balrog
Eonwe Valar: I didn't, I just didn't mention him yet.
Menelvagor Valar: threw him off the Northern Pass of Gondolin and sacraficed himself for the lives of his people
ArPharazonV: I believe Tolkien in the end said there were only 7 at most?
Eonwe Valar: Aye, in UT it says Tolkien believed there were seven at most
Menelvagor Valar: in UT?
Menelvagor Valar: where...?
Eonwe Valar: Unfinished Tales
ArPharazonV: in some note
Menelvagor Valar: got it right here
ArPharazonV: I'll look for it,have it right here
Menelvagor Valar: chapter>
Eonwe Valar: The commentary on the Coming of Tuor and the Fall of Gondolin
HeruRasa: Tolkien believed? he didn't know? :-)
Eonwe Valar: TOlkien approached his work from the perspective of historian, remember?
Eonwe Valar: So when he says "I believe" it's as good as "It is"
Eonwe Valar: until he changes his mind, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: (Btw, Tabard created)
VardaValar1: It is part of the atmosphere JRRT made
VardaValar1: Woot!
HeruRasa: Baum did the same thing in his 14 volumes
VardaValar1: Just now, Eonwe?
ArPharazonV: congrats
VardaValar1: Woot!
Eonwe Valar: Aye, well, a couple of minutes ago I clicked the ok button
Eonwe Valar: I've been talking since then :}
VardaValar1: Billboh's tabard just colored and designed up. Looks great!
ArPharazonV: btw, I gotta go soon
VardaValar1: I say just. I just asked him : )
ArPharazonV: gotta get up early tomorrow
VardaValar1: Pretty near done
VardaValar1: Phar, one thing to try first : )
ArPharazonV: in fact, I only have 6 hours until I have to get up...
ArPharazonV: what?
Eonwe Valar: btw, my tabard was 90 silver, so the tabard price gets adjusted by reputation
VardaValar1: http://client0.sigmachat.com/sc.pl?id=90005
VardaValar1: Type your name in User
Eonwe Valar: tabard unlock didn't, however,.. still 10 gold :}
VardaValar1: Go whre you are honored and pay less
ArPharazonV: just ArPharazonV?
VardaValar1: yes
ArPharazonV: ok
AlatarValar2: Anything you would like
AlatarValar2: We are testing the chat room
sauronjag: dinner time folks
sauronjag: namarie
sauronjag has left the room.
Menelvagor Valar: can't find it in the notes of "of Tuor and his coming to Gondolin"
ArPharazonV: me neither, actually... but I'm quite sure he said it somewhere
Eonwe Valar: One sec, I'll see if I can find
VardaValar1: Tabard looks really good
Menelvagor Valar: hmmmz
Menelvagor Valar: In BoLT II "The Fall of Gondolin" I have found something interesting:
FarmerMaggotV: Is this protocol public btw?
VardaValar1: The one for the chat we just put up?
Menelvagor Valar: The early conception of the Balrogs makes them less terrible, and certainly more destructible, than they afterwards became: they existed 'in hundreds'
VardaValar1: It is a free version to test out
VardaValar1: We can then go to the paid version, has ban ability and emails transcript
Eonwe Valar: Aye, how else could they be slain in "scores" :}
Menelvagor Valar: and
Menelvagor Valar: later on that page in a sidenote of the notes, it says:
ArPharazonV: scores, that was it.. I said dozens
Eonwe Valar: doh,.. it wouldn't have been in the UT passage,.. that's solely about his coming,.. sorry about that
Menelvagor Valar: "The idea that Morgoth disposed of a 'host' of Balrogs endyred long, but in a late note my father said that only very few ever existed - 'at most seven'.
Menelvagor Valar: the sidenote done by Chris of course :-)
Eonwe Valar: figured it was there since I had skimmed through that one most recently
HeruRasa: gonna head out, namarie
Eonwe Valar: take care Ulmo,.. enjoy your tabard :}
ArPharazonV: 'at most seven'.... remembered those exact works
ArPharazonV: *words
ArPharazonV: Namarie
HeruRasa has left the room.
ArPharazonV: I gotta go soon as well
VardaValar1: Namarie Ulmo
ArPharazonV: will save transcript now
Menelvagor Valar: it's in BoLT II The Fall of Gondolin (vi) The Battle of Gondolin
VardaValar1: thanks Menel
Menelvagor Valar: pages prolly not the same, so won't mention them :-)
Eonwe Valar: that was the quote I was referring to. Good job on finding it
ArPharazonV: saved
ArPharazonV: will send now
Menelvagor Valar: figured I should look into BoLT as it was published post-humously
VardaValar1: Feel free to mention pg number anyway : )
Menelvagor Valar: 212-213
Eonwe Valar: So was UT
ArPharazonV: and the Silm
Menelvagor Valar: but mentioned the narrative component as well, so shouldn't be hard to find
Eonwe Valar: Anything after LotR was pretty well published post-humously
Menelvagor Valar: well, also took into account the Battle :-)
ArPharazonV: anything after 1973 was published post-humously :-)
Menelvagor Valar: doh
Menelvagor Valar: but for some odd reason, I seemed to remember BoLT having more detailed notes and narrative thingies
Xseanzee disco has entered the room.
VardaValar1: All of Chris's stuff is loaded like that
VardaValar1: Aiya Gil-galad :-)
Xseanzee disco: Heyy
Menelvagor Valar: heyy :-)
VardaValar1: Were just in a Balrog discussion
Xseanzee disco: grand :-)
Eonwe Valar: The best part of the Sil is the lack of Commentary.
ArPharazonV: it is saved
Eonwe Valar: Contrapositively, the best thing about Ut and HoME is the Commentary :}
ArPharazonV: *sent
ArPharazonV: could you check Varda?
ArPharazonV: btw, BoLT is more detailed in those stories
Xseanzee disco: How big do you think the balrogs were? They couldn't have been as big as the one portrayed in the movie...
ArPharazonV: outdated, perhaps, but surely more details
Eonwe Valar: depends on how big they thought they needed to be
ArPharazonV: although the stories in UT seem to reach that level of detail pretty close...
Xseanzee disco: Well. I mean, glorfindel beat one.
Eonwe Valar: The call for the Elves was to "sit at the feet of the Powers" in Aman, which suggests they can take quite grand forms.
ArPharazonV: Ecthelion fell into the fountain with one...
Eonwe Valar: Gandalf fell into a hole with one :}
ArPharazonV: Glorfindel fell off a cliff with one
Xseanzee disco: But still, how can an elf get the better of a balrog?
ArPharazonV: why do all the Balrogs tend to be defeated only after they fall, or during the fall?
Eonwe Valar: and the Balrog couldn't pass through a door that was fine for a tall Elf, Men, and Wizard to pass through
Eonwe Valar: because their enemy doesn't give up while they're falling :}
ArPharazonV: aye, surprised the Balrog didn't fight back when Gandalf attacked him in the fall
Xseanzee disco: Gandalf got a fer good slappings.
Xseanzee disco: few*
ArPharazonV: perhaps he was distracted by his arms scratching the rock-walls...
Eonwe Valar: it had limited room, and he might've been trying to stop his own descent while letting Gandalf plummet to his death
ArPharazonV: I'm just thinking that if Gandalf had strayed but a little to the side, he might have impaled himself on the rock
FarmerMaggotV: hm, the Java chat thing now continually crashes FireFox
ArPharazonV: or at least broken his neck
Xseanzee disco: Wizards cant break their necks...
VardaValar1: Who says the balrog didn't fight back at all?
Xseanzee disco: its like a law.
Eonwe Valar: Not I, but he had less room to maneuver due to his size.
ArPharazonV: I thought the thing hardly fought back at Gandalf, or he could have just knocked him off with one blow... and judging by their falling speeds, Gandalf would have dropped faster (which I find odd anyway), and the Balrog would have cr
Eonwe Valar: so while Gandalf could get inside for a few hits, the Balrog had to try and get him to the best of his ability
ArPharazonV: ushed him in the lake
Eonwe Valar: Hmm have urge to get into physics of free-fall,..will.. fight...urge....
VardaValar1: Why fight it? :-)
ArPharazonV: what, you're telling me you didn't notice it when Gandalf essentially dropped several seconds later, and still caught up with the balrog?
VardaValar1: Talk physics of free fall :-)
VardaValar1: Know anything about sky-diving?
ArPharazonV: Aerodynamics perhaps, because he had his sword pointing down while the Balrog was basically falling in a flat way?
ArPharazonV: stream-lining?
VardaValar1: Even if you know about diving into water. Aye streamline yourself
ArPharazonV: not talking about the water, but in the freefall from the bridge
VardaValar1: Might have been stretching wings and arms a little to slow his fall, while Gandalf streamlined into a dive
VardaValar1: But actually, Gandalf was attached by the Balrog's whip
VardaValar1: The movie was incorrect
VardaValar1: If it had been like the movie, the Fellowship could have grabbed Gandalf's arm and pulled him up
Eonwe Valar: Aye, the Balrog was spread out more, so the air resistance was greater
VardaValar1: but the weight of the balrog on the whip pulled Gandalf down in the book
ArPharazonV: Gandaaaaaaalf!!!
ArPharazonV: wasn't he pulled down by the whip?
ArPharazonV: or did the whip let go after pulling him from his feet?
Eonwe Valar: he slowed down on his apporach to terminal velocity while Gandalf sped up due to less surface area for which the air must create an upward force.
ArPharazonV: also, the Balrog would have blocked the air from under him, which would have established some near-vacuum
ArPharazonV: if you understand what I mean
top

After-meeting:
ArPharazonV: but anyway, I gotta go
ArPharazonV: gonna drop myself...
ArPharazonV: to sleep
Menelvagor Valar: gonna save this last part, or shall I?
ArPharazonV: Namarie all... and I want to see the rest of this in a transcript!
ArPharazonV: already sent my transcript
ArPharazonV: it's all yours
Menelvagor Valar: send another one 8-)
ArPharazonV: ...
ArPharazonV: I don't think so
VardaValar1: I'm saving too
ArPharazonV: ok, will be seeing ya then
VardaValar1: At least one of these will work :-)
Menelvagor Valar: no need for me to save this last part then
VardaValar1: Anyone else want to test the other chat program?
ArPharazonV: woot
ArPharazonV: new discovery
Menelvagor Valar: IRC?
VardaValar1: The most complete gets to be the main transcript
Menelvagor Valar: which will be yours probably Varda :-)
ArPharazonV: after these two weeks, my schedule returns to the 'starting at 11'-schedule, which means I can stay a little longer again starting 2 weeks from now
VardaValar1: http://client0.sigmachat.com/sc.pl?id=90005
ArPharazonV: but now I really have to go
AlatarValar2: It's not IRC, no
AlatarValar2: It's Java
VardaValar1: Java
ArPharazonV: Namarie
VardaValar1: heh - thanks Alatar
ArPharazonV: see ya
ArPharazonV: have fun
ArPharazonV has left the room.
Menelvagor Valar: is anyone inclined to play some TFT?
VardaValar1: Please check out the chat room in link above
Eonwe Valar: I'm going to be getting off altogether shortly,.. got homework I've got to get done
VardaValar1: Just drop in for a sec
VardaValar1: see what you think
VardaValar1: and go do homework :-)
VardaValar1: Thank you for all you've done, Eonwe : )
Eonwe Valar: Ulmo reports his tabard is still white,.. might be because he bought it before the tabard was formed,.. anyoen else have ideas?
Eonwe Valar: MP ;}
Eonwe Valar: My only suggestion right now is to buy a new one if that's the case
VardaValar1: Billboh bought his before the tabard opened and it is fine
Eonwe Valar: ok, then it's Ulmo's,..
VardaValar1: Try putting in inventory and then back on
Xseanzee disco has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: He tried
Eonwe Valar: didn't work
VardaValar1: Any other problems he's having, like lag?
VardaValar1: Might neet to re-log?
Eonwe Valar: He said he's going to try it in Stormwind
VardaValar1: Okies
VardaValar1: What kind of homework are you working on?
Eonwe Valar: Made suggestiong about relogging
Eonwe Valar: Programming which calls back to my Discrete math
Eonwe Valar: and studying for a German quiz
VardaValar1: Good for stealth? ;-)
VardaValar1: Ohh, use German on me!
Eonwe Valar: Not really :} exploding brains don't make well for stealth :}
VardaValar1: I have nearly forgotten it all
Eonwe Valar: Guten Tag :}
VardaValar1: *stuffs brains back in before spotted by zombies*
Eonwe Valar: Wie heissen Sie?
VardaValar1: Wie geht es Ihnen?
Eonwe Valar: no fair answering a question with a question, but Es geht mir gut :}
Menelvagor Valar: es geht mir Ziemlich gut?
Menelvagor Valar: wie heisst Ihre Heimat?
AlatarValar2 has left the room.
AlatarValar2 has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: I'm only in 1010, first semester German,.. don't know some of those terms yet, like Ziemlich and Ihre Heimat
VardaValar1: Ich bin gut
Menelvagor Valar: ziemlich is reasonable
Menelvagor Valar: Heimat is hometown
Menelvagor Valar: or town of birth
VardaValar1: Guild is good to pick up stuff
Eonwe Valar: so, What is the name of where I live
Menelvagor Valar: more like what is the name of the town you were born
AlatarValar2: True, many in the guild could work as translators, they are so fluent in both languages :-)
VardaValar1: We use them for that in some testing
Menelvagor Valar: although Heimat can also be translated as simply "home"
Menelvagor Valar: well
Menelvagor Valar: far from fluent in german
VardaValar1: We have a ton of talent in this place
VardaValar1: We have some who are actually German
Menelvagor Valar: just can speak it reasonably well
Eonwe Valar: This will be my third language once I get enough of it under my belt
VardaValar1: You have Spanish?
VardaValar1: German also helps with the Scandinavians, sort of recognizable
Menelvagor Valar: Spanish is one of few "large" languages I don't speak
Eonwe Valar: I can speak and understand it reasonably, though I have not realyl ever used it (surprisingly, since there are alot of SPanish-speakers in Texas)
Menelvagor Valar: I do speak a little french tho
Eonwe Valar: but I'm a bit rusty for said reason,
Menelvagor Valar: english, german and french are obligatory courses in high school here lol
Eonwe Valar: Had 4 years of it in high school, a couple of semesters in college,.. decided I wanted something new
Eonwe Valar: so I took German
VardaValar1: German is a good one to accompany Spanish. Now you have most of the world covered
Eonwe Valar: I also hope to add Hebrew and Latin to my Languages later on
Menelvagor Valar: actually, french would be better than german in that point of view :-)
VardaValar1: Spanish will help with French
Menelvagor Valar: even the Canadians speak french :-)
Menelvagor Valar: true
GilraenV: lot of similarity in fench and spanish
VardaValar1: Italian is very good for a general for Romantic languages
Menelvagor Valar: Spanish and French are derived from Latin
VardaValar1: Quebec anyway
VardaValar1: You get Hebrew and talk to Merry
VardaValar1: We have several who had Latin, been even longer than German for me
Menelvagor Valar: when one can speak French, one can generally understand about a quarter of what an Italian says
Menelvagor Valar: only had 2 years of Latin in High School, and those were the same year
Menelvagor Valar: if you get my drift
VardaValar1: I enjoyed Latin, good teacher
VardaValar1: She let me delve into Mythology and I have been nuts since : )
Menelvagor Valar: didn't get far beyond of the point of knowing what "Pater et Mater residus in Casus" means
VardaValar1: I liked translating Caesar's stuff
Menelvagor Valar: Alea Iacta est?
Menelvagor Valar: Et tu Brute?
Menelvagor Valar: or "Tu quoque Brute"?
Menelvagor Valar: should at the very least know what "E pluribus unum" means :-)
AlatarValar2: Namarie, friends. Returning to WoW :-)
Menelvagor Valar: but I think most like would want to know what "Non liced Iovi non liced Bovi" means :-)
Menelvagor Valar: Namarie Alatar
AlatarValar2 has left the room.
VardaValar1: aww, do both :-)
Menelvagor Valar: all of them?
Menelvagor Valar: can't do Alea iacta est
VardaValar1: He was in two chats, could add WoW on top of that and talk himself silly. Well, maybe not
Menelvagor Valar: but I know that is what he said when he crossed the river .......
VardaValar1: And the ever popular Veni, Vidi, Vici.
Menelvagor Valar: I like my own alteration on that tho
VardaValar1: Which is?
Menelvagor Valar: Veni, Vidi, Foetsie
VardaValar1: Pharazon's transcript is in
VardaValar1: okkk, was ist das Foetsie?
Menelvagor Valar: dutch word
Menelvagor Valar: more or less meaning "gone"
VardaValar1: hehe
Menelvagor Valar: so in this case, something like:
VardaValar1: Earlier was I came, I saw, I conquered
Menelvagor Valar: "I came, I saw, and I ran like beep"
VardaValar1: So I came, I saw, I'm gone
VardaValar1: Might be good for some places in WoW
Menelvagor Valar: yep :-)
Menelvagor Valar: anyways
Menelvagor Valar: E pluribus unum can be found on the sides of a dollar coin
VardaValar1: Sounds like some version of foot or feet
VardaValar1: yep
Menelvagor Valar: means From many one
VardaValar1: I'm hungry : )
Menelvagor Valar: which is exactly why it is on the dollar :-)
Menelvagor Valar: ok, last one
VardaValar1: ok
Menelvagor Valar: Non liced Iovi, non liced bovi
Menelvagor Valar: What Jupiter may do, even a (ox / cow) may not
Menelvagor Valar: temporary lapse of memory on that one
Menelvagor Valar: daily used name of family of ox / cow
Eonwe Valar: sounds like a bit of an insult
Menelvagor Valar: nope
Menelvagor Valar: Jupiter is the Roman's Elder God
Eonwe Valar: relog didn't work for Ulmo
VardaValar1: Still sounds like a kind of insult
Eonwe Valar: I know that
VardaValar1: Jupiter did some not nice things
Eonwe Valar: So unless bovine are right under gods, it seems a bit like an insult
Menelvagor Valar: I can figure it could be used as an insult
VardaValar1: Insulting to Jupiter
Eonwe Valar: or it could be a comment on Zues'/Jupiter's incompitency
Menelvagor Valar: but from what I got at the lessons of Latin, it was more of a thing a parent said to a child when doing something it was not supposed to
VardaValar1: Jupiter can get away with it, but we lower beings cannot?
Menelvagor Valar: oh yeah, and if interested, I have 2 more
Eonwe Valar: hmm I can imagine that.. "You see that cow? Well it can't do what Jupiter can do."
Eonwe Valar: "So what. It's a cow."
Menelvagor Valar: lol
VardaValar1: I hate to suggest Ulmo buy another tabard in case it has the same problem
Eonwe Valar: He tried that before relogging,.. still white
Menelvagor Valar: well.... children weren't as .... forthcoming .... as they are nowadays
Menelvagor Valar: tried ingame appealing
Menelvagor Valar: or whatever it is called in WoW?
VardaValar1: Try complete exit of game
VardaValar1: Not just camp
Menelvagor Valar: have you ever heard / seen "Cave Canem"?
VardaValar1: Beware the dog?
Menelvagor Valar: yep
VardaValar1: Is it a movie?
Menelvagor Valar: usually a mosaic inlaid at house entrances
VardaValar1: What do you mean heard/seen
VardaValar1: Aye, saw photos of some
Menelvagor Valar: heard of*
Menelvagor Valar: and of course, there's the inescapable "Omni vivum ex ovum"
VardaValar1: Go eggs :-)
VardaValar1: All life from eggs?
Menelvagor Valar: all life comes from an egg
Menelvagor Valar: close enough
VardaValar1: All life from just one egg?
Menelvagor Valar: and there is of course, every sunday, and possibly every day "Carpe Diem"
VardaValar1: Would have a different meaning, possibly
Menelvagor Valar: well
Menelvagor Valar: in this case it means life in each individual, man or animal
VardaValar1: Aye, and I'm going to run find something to eat before Sauron gets it all :-)
Menelvagor Valar: Carpe Diem!
VardaValar1: Namarie :-)
Menelvagor Valar: Seize the day!
Menelvagor Valar: Namarie
Menelvagor Valar: saved?
VardaValar1: Aye, a common one
VardaValar1: yes
Menelvagor Valar: Namarie then :-)
VardaValar1: Will be afk mainly
Menelvagor Valar: and see you next week at the least :-)
VardaValar1: Still web work to do, and maybe a test
Menelvagor Valar: unless something comes up of course :-)
VardaValar1: Feel free to email too!
Menelvagor Valar: be sure to let me know :-)
VardaValar1: Let you know what? : )
Menelvagor Valar: that's where the at the least comes in :-)
Menelvagor Valar: if our testee shows up :-)
VardaValar1: oh
VardaValar1: If he passes, goes on the News
VardaValar1: np
Menelvagor Valar: I know
VardaValar1: Everyone else afk, my turn ;-)
Menelvagor Valar: was just looking forward to my first partial test is all

MoriFinwe: we wanted a pvp server
VardaValar1: Can do pvp on a normal also
MoriFinwe: yes but not like on pvp servers
VardaValar1: k
VardaValar1: Have fun on your pvp server
MoriFinwe: like a tauren was in auberdine today but i couldnt attack him while in a pvp server i would be able too
VardaValar1: Always looking over your shoulder
VardaValar1: Guess it's ok for some people
MoriFinwe: no not in ur territory
MoriFinwe: they have alliance horde and contested territory
VardaValar1: Why attack if he does not want to fight you or hurt anything?
MoriFinwe: well he was on our lands
VardaValar1: so?
VardaValar1: They have quests there too
MoriFinwe: he went to auberdine looking for trouble
VardaValar1: I was in Barrens pet-hunting
VardaValar1: I have waved hi to Horde going by that were not pvp
MoriFinwe: he was only lvl 19
MoriFinwe: he got killed by sentinels though
VardaValar1: So you felt the need to attack him?
VardaValar1: 40ish
MoriFinwe: he had a group of 4 ppl following him
VardaValar1: PvP people?
MoriFinwe: i ws only lvl 14 at the time so he would have killed me
MoriFinwe: yes
VardaValar1: So your only problem was not being high enough level to attack him?
MoriFinwe: i havent killed a single horde person yet
VardaValar1: Only 14
MoriFinwe: ive dualed ppl wth higher lvls and beaten them so i thought i could take him
VardaValar1: k
MoriFinwe: been killed by horde though lol
VardaValar1: If they leave our npc's alone, they can tromp around all they like far as I'm concerned
VardaValar1: I like to explore
MoriFinwe: he did till he tried to get on our griffin rider and they kileld him
VardaValar1: I intend to go into Battlegrounds. That will have all the strategy and killing anyone should need :-)
MoriFinwe: indeed i cant wait for that either
VardaValar1: I can wait
VardaValar1: Just will be another type of game
MoriFinwe: ya i need to pump up my lvl
VardaValar1: If you want to pvp that's fine
VardaValar1: If that is all you want, you really should go to a pvp server
VardaValar1: Go where you are happy
MoriFinwe: how far did u and merry get yesterday questing?
VardaValar1: I was helping him mostly, but I also got the Therylune rescue missed before
VardaValar1: We did the Master's Glaive quests
