VardaValar1: Aiya
VardaValar1: Hello, IzoSprog? :-)
bnetValar has entered the room.
VardaValar1: ahh, Bnet is back
VardaValar1: Thought I had it up
FarmerMaggotV: whoa.
FarmerMaggotV: lotsa errors :-\
VardaValar1: I don't see it in Public Chat Valar now
VardaValar1: Maybe because we are both doing it
VardaValar1: I'll pull out, Farmer
VardaValar1: Is IzoSprog one of your odd names, Farmer?
FarmerMaggotV: nope
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
aranfinwe has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya
aranfinwe: aiyas
Eonwe Valar: hey
GwaihirValar has entered the room.
GwaihirValar: I won't be able to be here long... I have to go to bed soon hehe....
IzoSprog: Hey there
VardaValar1: Glad you could drop by : )
IzoSprog: Sorry, was kind of not paying attention to the fact that it'd started *smiles* Glad I could make it
VardaValar1: Would you like to leave us with a Tolkien topic, Gwaihir?
VardaValar1: It has not started. We are just now arriving
ArPharazonV has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: Aiya all
VardaValar1: Do we know you by another name, IzoSprog?
VardaValar1: Aiya, Phar : )
bnetValar has left the room.
ArPharazonV: sorry I'm late, was busy slaying Hakkar!
Menelvagor Valar: evening everyone!
ArPharazonV: man, that's a long instance..
bnetValar has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: Aiya, Menel
IzoSprog: Nope, I'm a guest of Menelvagor's - She invited me along, hope its not a problem?
VardaValar1: Not at all : )
VardaValar1: Except maybe the gender ;-)
Menelvagor Valar: because of the mage, female ;-)
ArPharazonV: ah, a WoW-person, I guess? Menel's fully female there
IzoSprog: Oh, I see
Menelvagor Valar: not fully, but most of my chars are :-)
ArPharazonV: who are you, Izo? I'm Calaron
IzoSprog: Well, yes, WoW person right here *waves*
VardaValar1: Constellations tend not to have much gender. We know him more as real life
Menelvagor Valar: Mithikil, from Twilight
IzoSprog: Mithikil
ArPharazonV: ah, ok
VardaValar1: Welcome, Mithikil :-)
ArPharazonV: indeed :-)
IzoSprog: *smiles*
VardaValar1: The Battlenet Bridge is working now, good job Farmer Maggot!
GwaihirValar: I'll try to think of something.... but I'm a little tired and having some troubles thinking overall ;-)
VardaValar1: Just roost a bit
ArPharazonV: what did I miss in my absence?
VardaValar1: We have not started yet
VardaValar1: Still inviting
sauronjag has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: actually, we still know Menel as Turgon...
VardaValar1: Done
ArPharazonV: hehe
VardaValar1: Aiya Lungorthin : )
sauronjag: Heyas :-)
Menelvagor Valar: hey there buddy.
sauronjag: heya menel :-) it's been too long
VardaValar1: Ok, looks as if we are ready to start
VardaValar1: Is anyone on Lothar at the moment?
bnetValar has left the room.
VardaValar1: Guess not
ArPharazonV: I have not yet seen the Sigma-bridge active
bnetValar has entered the room.
FarmerMaggotV: it *should* be working
ArPharazonV: well, it's not there
FarmerMaggotV: hm
ArPharazonV: http://client0.sigmachat.com/sc.pl?id=90005 see for yourself
VardaValar1: Lot of side window talking, pardon : )
VardaValar1: Let's start
top

VardaValar1: Elen sila lumenn omentielvo!
VardaValar1: Member News:
VardaValar1: Olwe-(V) has not been around much and emailed to let us know he's alive : )
VardaValar1: He's done a bit of Guild Wars and looking for buddies from here to play with
bnetValar: ArPharazonV (SigmaChat): we have a bridge!
VardaValar1: Yay!
VardaValar1: Farmer and his high speed on-the-fly programming, we salute you!
FarmerMaggotV: heh
VardaValar1: What we mean by a Bridge is that you can participate in this AIM chat from a variety of places
VardaValar1: AIM, Battlenet, IRC, SigmaChat
VardaValar1: We have a visitor today, IzoSprog, from European WoW
Menelvagor Valar: Tinuvial is working on coming here as well
VardaValar1: You are a fellow Tolkien fan, I take it? Menel must think well of you to invite you here. : )
VardaValar1: You've read Lord of the Rings, Izo?
Menelvagor Valar: for clarification, Tinuvial is from WoW europe as well
VardaValar1: We tell a lot of spoilers here
VardaValar1: Thanks, Menel
VardaValar1: Izo afk I guess?
VardaValar1: Any other Membership news?
Eonwe Valar: University classes begin for me tomorrow, lucky me :}
VardaValar1: Congrats : )
Eonwe Valar: begin again rather :}
VardaValar1: They already started over here, for Eowyn
sauronjag: started for me last monday :-)
VardaValar1: She and Sauron and Fangorn say hi!
VardaValar1: Anyone else back in school now?
IzoSprog: Ah, sorry, I'll brb, I;ve got a curry n such, five mins, then I'll be all focused ;-)
FarmerMaggotV: I'll be in school soon unfortunately
VardaValar1: sounds delicious
VardaValar1: Or fortunately. Maybe you can teach them a thing or two
FarmerMaggotV: heh
GwaihirValar: gnight Valar... sorry I couldn't stay longer! Have a good meeting!
VardaValar1: We have several guild-friends on WoW Lothar now, some working on joining
VardaValar1: Good night, Eagle
VardaValar1: Thanks
GwaihirValar has left the room.
VardaValar1: Have to get Gwaihir back on Lothar too ;-)
VardaValar1: So if you see Aslynn, Midrog, Heishiro, or some other odd names in the Valar channel, that is what is happening : )
VardaValar1: All good
top

VardaValar1: Web News:
VardaValar1: Tolkien Encyclopedia:
VardaValar1: Elwing sent in a new drawing, and is working on more
VardaValar1: This one is "Elf Twins"
VardaValar1: You can see it from here:
VardaValar1: http://www.valar.game-host.org/varda/galler y/Elwing/caveElwing.htm
VardaValar1: Under articles, I put in a new one: "Elatan"
VardaValar1: Elatan-(Valar) knows about it and is tickled ;-)
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/arti cles/e/Elatan.htm
VardaValar1: The toughest part is also coming along
VardaValar1: The Maiar page is completely separated into articles, so only links to them are now on the Maiar page.
VardaValar1: The alphabetical listing bug is fixed now : )
VardaValar1: But for the alphabetical frames to work, I still have to finish separating out all the other articles in our over seven years of work on the Encyc
VardaValar1: Question for you guys:
sauronjag: ick
VardaValar1: Do you want me to go ahead and put up the alphabetical frames even incomplete?
VardaValar1: The subject frame will still be there, in any case
ArPharazonV: sure, that way we can spam your mail with non-working links ;-)
VardaValar1: I can do it Lungothin! : )
VardaValar1: lol! Go ahead, Phar!
VardaValar1: I need that flood right now to check the Maiar page
VardaValar1: The hardest part is catching the Author page links
sauronjag: hehe
VardaValar1: At first they had email connections. But now they are supposed to connect to author pages
VardaValar1: This cuts the number of email addresses for spam spiders to pick up quite drastically
VardaValar1: For some of us this list goes into hundreds on the Encyc : )
VardaValar1: Go right ahead and flood my mail. It can only be a good thing!
VardaValar1: No comment on the Alphabetical frame?
sauronjag: I think it's a good idea but hate to see you do all that work
VardaValar1: Phar said yes.
VardaValar1: hah! Lungorthin, I am already doing it : )
VardaValar1: Just did you guys want access while it is still in progress?
sauronjag: haha well then you have my answe
sauronjag: r
ArPharazonV: it really doesn't matter to me, Varda... it's not like I visit the Encyclopedia more often than most of you...
VardaValar1: That's two yes votes, the rest are afk ;-)
sauronjag: is there another easy quick way to setup navigation?
sauronjag: that you could use in the interim?
VardaValar1: I already had a navigation set up
VardaValar1: It has been up since the beginning
VardaValar1: It just was not alphabetical
Eonwe Valar: I vote for the working navigation until the other one is finished.
VardaValar1: Some users complained that they had trouble locating some that are ambiguous such as Ungoliant
sauronjag: okay so if there's an alternative, I don't see why not still use the alphabetical frame for those who do use it unless it's too difficult
VardaValar1: The currrent one will continue at the same time as the alphabetical, even after all is complete
VardaValar1: Some prefer subject, some alphabetical : )
VardaValar1: The subject frame is the one currently in good condition
VardaValar1: Now working on the alphabetical
VardaValar1: It pops up on the right side. You'll know when it's up ;-)
VardaValar1: You hit the letter on the left, the items under that letter pop up on the right
VardaValar1: Then you hit your item on the right, and the article pops up in the large center
VardaValar1: I did that on the Folklore & Mythology page, if you want a look at a preview
VardaValar1: http://geocities.com/varda_valar/index.htm
VardaValar1: The Ency belongs to us all. Your continued input is easily added and delightful to look over
VardaValar1: I will also help you as needed
VardaValar1: Original Tolkien references are required
VardaValar1: Let us be the ones other people copy! :-)
ArPharazonV: can't you have both systems running at the same time?
VardaValar1: I can, Phar
VardaValar1: No problem
ArPharazonV: brb, cat wants to go outside
sauronjag: I like that system varda (left shows up on the right)
VardaValar1: Asking if you want the incomplete alphabetical at the same time as the current complete subject.
VardaValar1: Thanks, Lungorhin : )
ArPharazonV: back...
VardaValar1: Fast cat
ArPharazonV: cat is outside :P
VardaValar1: Others of you do web pages as well. Anything new on yours?
VardaValar1: Lungorthin does the Book List and Book Reviews page. Needs your email input : )
VardaValar1: Eonwe needs updates on which games you all play
VardaValar1: Elatan is updating the Member page, and you should soon see the difference
Eonwe Valar: I'll be sending out the GPMU mail soon.
ArPharazonV: so, how many members do we have in total now?
VardaValar1: Full Members?
ArPharazonV: yes, or actual total...
VardaValar1: I could make absolutely sure by counting them on the Activity page
IzoSprog: Right, back, sorry about that ^^
VardaValar1: You can also go count the ones on the Tolkien-only member page
ArPharazonV: make a guess!
Eonwe Valar: 742 :}
Orodreth V has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: But I'm probably a bit off ;}
Orodreth V: Aiya all.
VardaValar1: 119 are listed on the Full Member page
VardaValar1: Aiya Orodreth!
Anuvial has entered the room.
IzoSprog: *Scrolls up* Yep, I've actually just finished reading RotK, and starting on the Silmarillion. *smiles and noticeshis total change of topic*
ArPharazonV: heheh... I'm starting to get way too attached to my Calaron-name... wanted to see what was listed at my activity, and looked at the C...
Anuvial: Greetings all...
VardaValar1: 16 Tolkien-onlies
ArPharazonV: GReetings
VardaValar1: Hail, Anuvial
VardaValar1: Are you one of the WoW Europe folk?
Anuvial: I hope my screen name is ok
Anuvial: Yes, but I'm from South Africa
VardaValar1: We dropped 40 - 50 from each group earlier this year
ArPharazonV: and she's been very helpful with scales and leather ;-)
VardaValar1: South Africa can't game in the WoW Americas servers, can they?
VardaValar1: Sounds good
VardaValar1: Are you Tinuviel from there?
VardaValar1: I just had to throw two questions at once and log jam things.
Menelvagor Valar: Anuvial is Tinuvial from europe :-)
Orodreth V: *mutter about WoW*
VardaValar1: Thanks, Menel
top

VardaValar1: Gaming News:
ArPharazonV: so, Oro, how goes TFT?
ArPharazonV: oops*
VardaValar1: Phar, mind terribly? : )
ArPharazonV: *sorry*
Anuvial: We can game on USA servers...we just have to get th game...it's unavailable in SA
VardaValar1: You might get it online?
Anuvial: So is the Europe version
Anuvial: They don't ship to SA...not from Amazon
Anuvial: I sent the game to Thanduril and he mailed me the key
VardaValar1: Blizzard ship it?
VardaValar1: Might try Blizzard and see what they suggest, if you want it
Anuvial: I ordered from Amazon and had it delivered to a fellow WOW player named Thanduril in case all of you don't know him.
VardaValar1: Menelvagor's group is good anyway
VardaValar1: We have a Thranduil-V
IzoSprog: Thanduril, as in, Argent Dawn server, right?
Anuvial: Correct
ArPharazonV: aye, the main tank of THG, it seems...
IzoSprog: Yep, sure is, and hes a good one too, far as I can tell.
ArPharazonV: he's quite good, aye, we killed the princess with him yesterday... but I'm still 4 lvls away from raiding ;-)
IzoSprog: *grins* S'good fun!
VardaValar1: Ok, let's get down to reports
VardaValar1: Orodreth, do you have a gaming report?
VardaValar1: TFT maybe?
Menelvagor Valar: just for your information, Thranduil isn't Thanduril.
VardaValar1: ah sad.
VardaValar1: Orodreth? You there?
VardaValar1: Guess Orodreth is not present
VardaValar1: Eonwe has a report on WC3/TFT
VardaValar1: Eonwe, go ahead
Eonwe Valar: Thanks.
Eonwe Valar: It seems the group using our Guild tag in WC3 is now disbanded.
Eonwe Valar: So if we did have 10 people still interested in playing the game often enough to keep a group alive, that option is open to us.
Anuvial: WC3? Warcraft III?
VardaValar1: Aye
Eonwe Valar: yes
Orodreth V: The game that is better then WoW. >.>
Anuvial: I'm going to start playing again now that I have a semi decent ping...
ArPharazonV: sure, I could play WC3 often enough to uphold my part of the clan
ArathornValar: Orodreth obviously hit his head :-P
Eonwe Valar: Any other takers among you members here?
Orodreth V: Sush.
VardaValar1: I might come in to help hold the Clan together, but doubt I would actually play
Menelvagor Valar: barely playing wc3, so I guess it's a no-go from me.
FarmerMaggotV: well, apparently the laptop isn't welcom at the dinner table, so afk
Orodreth V: *jedi mind trick* You will play WC3...
Eonwe Valar: Would prefer only members who are going to actually play.
VardaValar1: bon appetit : )
Eonwe Valar: No point in setting the group back up if half the members are only placeholders.
Orodreth V: So that's Ar, Me, and Eonwe?
VardaValar1: Trick is to find the ones who play. Hard when they don't come to meetings
Orodreth V: And Anuvial.
Orodreth V: Gwai is on in the early mornings.
Eonwe Valar: Need to be a full member for this.
ArPharazonV: I'd probably be more placeholder than player... but if the group comes together again, it may be enough to persuade me to play it more regularly ;-)
Eonwe Valar: So we really only have one taker excluding myself.
VardaValar1: So, Anuvial? Did you want to join as a full member? : )
Orodreth V: I'll talk to Gwaihir next time I see him, for what its worth..
Eonwe Valar: Thanks Orodreth
Eonwe Valar: I'll mention in my GPMU mail as well, so it will get to the entire Guild.
VardaValar1: He was in the meeting a little while agk had to go to sleep
Anuvial: I guess...when I have a better idea of what you guys are about :-)
VardaValar1: Might try Gilraen, see if she can contact him
ArPharazonV: btw, small message: Fladrif isn't here tonight, staying somewhere else without AIM, but he will be back next week
VardaValar1: That is good Member News stuff. Thanks, Phar
Eonwe Valar: That does it from me for WC3.
VardaValar1: Thanks, Eonwe!
VardaValar1: D2X ladder Three is now running
VardaValar1: I need to put up the new Ladder page
VardaValar1: Thorondor needs your competition
VardaValar1: Has anyone seen Finarfin lately?
VardaValar1: I will be in the ladder too
VardaValar1: We also have some Middle-earth D2X mod interest
VardaValar1: and regular D2X interest
VardaValar1: Unfortunately that scatters our D2X players abominably
Eonwe Valar: If you play the ME mod, don't update to 1.11 LoD.
ArPharazonV: is it me, or is the sigma-bridge malfunctioning again? everything below Might try Gilraen, see if she can contact him is absent
ArathornValar: whats wrong with the mod?
VardaValar1: Eonwe, do you know if V&K are working on the update? They did say they would try to keep it up
VardaValar1: D2X has been patched, so the Mod has to be updated.
Eonwe Valar: They haven't responded to that very question on their board.
ArathornValar: ahh
VardaValar1: V&K like to play WoW now, so they may not want to spend tons of time on it
VardaValar1: May be a bit slow.
FarmerMaggotV has left the room.
bnetValar has left the room.
bnetValar has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Mine is already patched
Anuvial: Guys. May I be excused. I did'nt plan on having this meeting when I took my flu meds and I can hardly keep my eyes open. I'll be ready to participate next week. At least I'm set up now :-)
Eonwe Valar: Sleep well Anuvial.
Menelvagor Valar: sleep well.
Anuvial: Btw, I live some 170km from Bloemfontein where Tolkien was born :-)
ArPharazonV: g'night, Anuvial
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
FarmerMaggotV has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: There may be a way to have both 1.10 and 1.11 accessible without having separate installations.
FarmerMaggotV: meh, wifi kicked out where I had the laptop, taking the bridge down
Anuvial has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: You can find it in one of the top posts in V&K's forum.
Orodreth V: For WC3 and BW they've made things which will 'de=patch' your installation so you can see old replays.
Orodreth V: Someone can probally do it for D2.
VardaValar1: Thanks, Oro
ArPharazonV: it's working again, Farmer
VardaValar1: Orodreth also has a BroodWar report. Please go ahead
Orodreth V: It's dieing.
Orodreth V: Blizzard has given frankly poor quality patches.
Orodreth V: There are often more bots on then people, or so it seems.
Orodreth V: The great mappers for UMS are leaving.
Orodreth V: The latest patch disallowed you from kaing infested terrans from an infested cc to fix a different bug.
Orodreth V: There's hardly any interest in tournys in the US.
Orodreth V: Or Europe, for that matter.
Orodreth V: So..yea.
Orodreth V: *mourns*
VardaValar1: So we need to get on Blizzard with emails?
Orodreth V: Hah.
VardaValar1: BW is a fun game, doesn't deserve to be mistreated
Orodreth V: They better come out with SC2 pretty soon.
VardaValar1: Forum any better?
ArPharazonV: every game must end some day.... I mean.... who here still plays war2?
VardaValar1: Guess they are just working on Ghost
VardaValar1: We do : )
Orodreth V: I know people who do.
VardaValar1: We have several people in the guild who do
ArPharazonV: really? wanna try it?
ArPharazonV: :P
VardaValar1: Busy right now, Phar : )
VardaValar1: Maybe later
Orodreth V: Ghost is a horrible, horrible, disfigued remnant of the original Ghost.
ArPharazonV: I just saw the box lying here again recently.... dang, it's been a long time...
VardaValar1: We did have a D1 game after a few meetings
Eonwe Valar: I still paly WC2
Orodreth V: It should be put down. :-\
Eonwe Valar: *play
bnetValar: thror_V (SigmaChat): hello
ArPharazonV: so I started it up, and played a skirmish for fun.... against one opponent... got slaughtered horribly... guess I need the practice again ;-)
Orodreth V: Anyways, that's my happy, uplifting report of the day.
Orodreth V: Now if only WoW would die like BW..
VardaValar1: Aiya Thror!
VardaValar1: Great to see you!
bnetValar: thror_V (SigmaChat): thanx :-)
VardaValar1: What do you like to game in now, Thror?
ArPharazonV: I have a feeling WoW will only die when War3 is already decomposing
bnetValar: thror_V (SigmaChat): d2
Orodreth V: Speak not ye lies! Burn him! >.>
ArPharazonV: no! get that match away from me!
bnetValar: thror_V (SigmaChat): only opne other member i have seen on there but that was a while ago to
Eonwe Valar: /places Divine Shield on Pharazon
Orodreth V: !
Orodreth V: No fair..
Eonwe Valar: now back to the meeting :}
VardaValar1: Thror, on what game?
Orodreth V: Er, yea. Fast question, anyone here play Freelancer?
ArPharazonV: *secretly arms fruit-cannon behind his back... prepared for future incidents*
ArPharazonV: Freelancer? what's that?
Orodreth V: Space sim.
Orodreth V: Oh well.
bnetValar: thror_V (SigmaChat): diablo 2
Orodreth V: /me goes back to sleep
VardaValar1: Ah cool!
VardaValar1: Would you like to join us in the D2X ladder 3 that just started?
VardaValar1: Thror? Do you prefer regular D2X or Middle-earth mod?
bnetValar: thror_V (SigmaChat): need to reinstal d2 if has some promble or other
bnetValar: thror_V (SigmaChat): never played middle earth mod
VardaValar1: I would do a side window on this but I can't get into SigmaChat without crashing everything : )
VardaValar1: Ok, while Oro is asleep...
VardaValar1: Menelvagor, do you have the European WoW report?
Menelvagor Valar: nothing too good I'm afraid.
Menelvagor Valar: we've had some big trouble over the weekend, part of which was caused by me.
VardaValar1: Then you get to fix it ;-)
Menelvagor Valar: I have resigned from leadership and quit the guild, as the trouble was really big.
Menelvagor Valar: I have to say, I was really angry at that moment, and now that I have calmed down, we're trying to sort out the mess.
Eonwe Valar: Hope you left someone capable in charge.
Menelvagor Valar: I hope so, but I don't know.
Menelvagor Valar: at this point, it's just one big mess.
VardaValar1: Hey, messes are my specialty ;-)
ArPharazonV: the biggest mess right now is over who's going to be responsible for the guild bank...
Menelvagor Valar: you have no idea what is going on behind the scenes, phar.
Menelvagor Valar: but I don't want to go into detail.
VardaValar1: Phar, you are still in it?
ArPharazonV: yup
ArPharazonV: I'd thought I'd wait out the storm
Menelvagor Valar: the point is, that although I would like to see the guild and the alliance continue, there is still a possibility it will all crumble.
VardaValar1: Just keep your calm. Go afk if you need to go rant at a wall, then think afterwards
IzoSprog: Gasp WoW matters and I'm there finding things of my name, *reads*
ArathornValar: hmmm .. tried that.. the wall just fell asleep :-\
VardaValar1: Good of the wall to help us with perspective ;-)
VardaValar1: Ok, so we still have Valar members in that Europe guild
VardaValar1: They need to be considered
ArPharazonV: including me, at least... and I don't even think Fladrif and Valandile have a clue of what has been going on
bnetValar: thror_V (SigmaChat): whats with bridge
FarmerMaggotV: it died
FarmerMaggotV: (on SigmaChat)
VardaValar1: Be sure to keep together, hold together in all the storms.
VardaValar1: You know you can trust your Valar buddies.
bnetValar: Eonwë (SigmaChat): OK, so I'm not all that's here
bnetValar: thror_V (SigmaChat): hay eonwe :-)
aranfinwe: especially if you're in New Orleans :-)
bnetValar: ArPharazonV (SigmaChat): heya Eonwe
VardaValar1: I'm glad someone else can get into SigmaChat : )
bnetValar: Eonwë (SigmaChat): These icons need tooltips.
bnetValar: Eonwë (SigmaChat): heya to all in Sigma. Pardon for meeting interruption.
VardaValar1: np
bnetValar: thror_V (SigmaChat): erester i forgot his new name do u know varda ?
VardaValar1: Do we have any Guild Wars gamers who can speak up?
VardaValar1: Erestor?
ArPharazonV: isn't that Finarfin now?
Eonwe Valar: Erestor became Finarfin
VardaValar1: Thanks, Eonwe :-)
Eonwe Valar: mp :}
VardaValar1: Finarfin-V in D2X
bnetValar: thror_V (SigmaChat): bad typer ,
ArPharazonV: FINARFIN010 in AIM
bnetValar: Eonwë (SigmaChat): Didn't show up here in Sigma, so here it is: Erestor became Finarfin.
bnetValar: thror_V (SigmaChat): ok
bnetValar: thror_V (SigmaChat): he was last valar member i saw on d2
VardaValar1: Thorondor plays it, and I do. Isildur-V also
bnetValar: thror_V (SigmaChat): theres a guild wars branch to ?
VardaValar1: Some others
VardaValar1: We are working on it, no branch
bnetValar: thror_V (SigmaChat): o good to know i am not alone on there :-)
Orodreth V: If I ever get more money (I have $4.65 right now) first thing I'll get is GW. (can't sleep)
VardaValar1: We are trying to locate who plays, get them to use their guild names so we know who is who, list themselves on Forum, Games page, get together
VardaValar1: Rog from way back, is back from the military, has a comp again, and is looking for fellow Guild War folk
ArathornValar: I played d2 a couple weeks ago but no one was around :-P
VardaValar1: oh cool : )
VardaValar1: Some have account names I don't know
ArathornValar: From what I hear GW is pvp specific, so Im not really interested
VardaValar1: I am back to using Varda-(Valar)
ArathornValar: tried the beta once, but dont remember much
VardaValar1: That shoud throw everybody :-) Very old naming. Can't make an account like that now
bnetValar: thror_V (SigmaChat): sorry about that got booted
ArathornValar: btw I noticed someone mentioned FEAR last week in the notes?
VardaValar1: What is FEAR?
ArathornValar: Downloaded the demo but havent tried it yet.
bnetValar: thror_V (SigmaChat): well what i was going to say is gw would be a game for finarfin no fee :-)
VardaValar1: (And whisper me Tolkien topics please)
Orodreth V: First Encounter Assult Recon (*rolleyes*)
ArathornValar: FPS game I think
bnetValar: thror_V (SigmaChat): i heard opf that game good review at e3 :-)
Orodreth V: Some sort of ripoff on R6, from what I here. Except with ghosts.
Orodreth V: hear*
ArathornValar: downloaded the Myst5 demo too.. short but interesting as usual
VardaValar1: Pardon, we need to give US WoW a chance to report
VardaValar1: Eonwe, go ahead.
Eonwe Valar: Thanks :}
ArathornValar: thought you were done
Eonwe Valar: Questers: Eonwë, Varda, Ulmo, Oromë, Elatan, ArathornAlso joined by Aslynn, Guild friend
Eonwe Valar: Quests: Claws from the Deep, Young Crocolisk Skins, Digging through the Ooze, Reclaiming Goods, Greenwarden quests, Daily Delivery
Eonwe Valar: Getting together in Menethil, Eonwë, Varda, Ulmo, Elatan, and Arathorn began to work on Claws from the Deep and Reclaiming Goods.
Eonwe Valar: Killing Gobbler and the necessary murlocs, and recovering the statue, we moved on to Digging through the Ooze. Now having a new 10-slot bag, we completed Young Crocolisk skins, during which we were joined by Oromë.
Eonwe Valar: With 6 guild guys in one area, we split into two teams and went after what we needed.
Eonwe Valar: Arathorn and Elatan left, and Oromë joined Ulmo, Varda, and Eonwë for what time he had left.
Eonwe Valar: After he left, we were joined by Aslynn for the Greenwarden quests. Soon Ulmo had to go, and then there were three.
Eonwe Valar: We finished all the Greenwarden quests, upon which Aslynn had to depart. Varda and I made a queick run to Westfall to help Midrog, another Guild friend, but he disappeared as we were on our way there.
Eonwe Valar: After grabbing the flight path there, we tidied up our affairs for the night and logged out.
VardaValar1: I spoke with Midrog today. He said his comp crashed and he could not get back on, was sleepy and went to bed
VardaValar1: He and his brother were playing with Arathorn and me today : )
Eonwe Valar: That explains that then.
VardaValar1: Both LotR readers
Eonwe Valar: That does it for this week's WoW Questing report.
VardaValar1: Thank you, Eonwe
VardaValar1: I believe we are done with Gaming, unless someone has another report?
IzoSprog: One question - Is this all on European Argent Dawn?
ArPharazonV: no, Lothar, US
Eonwe Valar: No, we have an offical Guild branch on Lothar in the US servers.
IzoSprog: Ahh all from all over the world then *smiles* ^^
VardaValar1: Yes, we are : )
ArPharazonV: I really should refrain from answering questions when I know you'll answer them better...
VardaValar1: Tolkien appeals to people all over the world, and that is our main focus
IzoSprog: He sure does :-)
VardaValar1: That was a good answer, Phar
VardaValar1: We also game at anything online : )
VardaValar1: Some places we have full guild branches set up
VardaValar1: The European group does not have a full branch. It is mostly "outsiders"
VardaValar1: but it is where we have a number of our European members who try to play together : )
IzoSprog: *nods*
VardaValar1: The American server has a full Valar branch, like nothing else on any WoW server
VardaValar1: Right now, we are done with our Gaming reports
Orodreth V: Other branches consist of me, Eonwe, Phar, and Gwaihir. :-\
VardaValar1: lol
bnetValar: thror_V (SigmaChat): well i g2g nice seeing you all and ill get d2 up and running has soon as i can look forward to seeing someone from the guild on
bnetValar: thror_V (SigmaChat): namarie:-)
VardaValar1: Namarie, Thror!
VardaValar1: Very good seeing you again1
VardaValar1: For no good reason, I keep hitting 1 instead of !, please translate ;-)
ArPharazonV: and the European WoW branch so far is composed of Menelvagor, me, Fladrif and Valandil...
ArPharazonV: but we're hoping to recruit more from THG and beyond ;-)
IzoSprog: Hehe
VardaValar1: If we get enough together in WoW Europe, we can start an actual branch there
VardaValar1: We were hoping WoW would bring the servers together
VardaValar1: Then we were going to get together and party : )
ArPharazonV: in all meanings of the word!
VardaValar1: Elatan did find a way to do it
VardaValar1: He used an international credit card and a US CD
VardaValar1: He would love to have more come over from Europe on the same time zone : )
top

VardaValar1: Tolkien:
VardaValar1: IzoSprog had an intriguing Tolkien problem for us : )
VardaValar1: Izo, would you like to tell about it and what you've managed to do so far?
IzoSprog: Oh yes, sorry, I've got many windows up
VardaValar1: Guess he's afk
VardaValar1: Oh, me too
VardaValar1: If they didn't flash orange, I'd be in trouble!
VardaValar1: Go ahead
IzoSprog: Righty, its my 18th this October, and I'm gettings a ring - What I'd like to do is have my name in Elvish, with its meaning, engraved on it
IzoSprog: Would like it to be in Runes, but we're looking at Sindain currently
VardaValar1: Sindarin for Robert, in Tengwar
VardaValar1: Bright Fame
VardaValar1: Fame can be Glory
Eonwe Valar: Cirthas Daeron or Angerthas Moria? :}
VardaValar1: Probably Feanorian
VardaValar1: So Sindarin for Bright or Shining plus Glory
Eonwe Valar: Fëanorian would be Tengwar. Cirth are runes.
Eonwe Valar: Unless I'm just taking you too literally :}
VardaValar1: hmm. My first thought was Tengwar
IzoSprog: *Sits, a little bewildered*
VardaValar1: Izo, do you have any idea?
Eonwe Valar: If you're looking to write it in Sindarin, Cirth is typically used for SIndarin.
VardaValar1: Answered that
IzoSprog: Haha, not much no, wish i did >_<
VardaValar1: Good point. Tengwar was developed for Quenya
Eonwe Valar: Appendix E in the back of RotK
IzoSprog: *grabs n looks*
VardaValar1: Good idea. References are a huge help
Eonwe Valar: unless you have the version where the Appendices are a separate book.
Orodreth V: yarr: http://www.elvish.org/elm/names.html
Orodreth V: ROBERT, ROBIN (m.) - Old Ger. 'fame + bright'; alcar "glory, splendour, brillance"; calima "bright", thus Alcarcalimo
IzoSprog: *beams happily*
Orodreth V: I <3 that site.
Orodreth V: That's Quenyan, So if you're looking for Sindarian, look elsewhere.
VardaValar1: That makes it simpler. Don't have to look at versions. Just let that other guy give you his. ;-)
IzoSprog: haha yep
VardaValar1: Do you know if you want Sindarin or Quenyan?
IzoSprog: Sindarin is, I think, the smoother language?
Orodreth V: Some of his definitions for names I find different elsewhere, he used behindthename.com (which is down).
Eonwe Valar: Quenyan s becomes Sindarin th
VardaValar1: I dug out some name books, so we know he was ok on the name meaning for Robert
Eonwe Valar: if that's what you mean by smoother
ArPharazonV: my first name isn't in there...
VardaValar1: Eonwe tends to like Noldorin stuff, and I tend to go for Sindarin. ;-)
ArPharazonV: but i guess Mike is short for Michael, originally
IzoSprog: Aye, I guess so, I dont know too much of Elvish, as you can see, so its partly why I'm here
ArathornValar: Sindarin lisps?
Eonwe Valar: Aglar seems to be the Sindarin form
VardaValar1: Aye, Phar. Mike/Michael, and many versions
Eonwe Valar: Alkar being the Quenya given in the Sil.
VardaValar1: Michel, Mikhail
VardaValar1: K is old form. C is newer
ArathornValar: Misha =)
VardaValar1: aye, etc : )
ArPharazonV: :-)
VardaValar1: Misha is a soft sound : )
aranfinwe: well, it's time for me to depart, namarie all and good luck on the naming
VardaValar1: Thanks, Finwe!
VardaValar1: Drive carefully : )
aranfinwe: I try :-)
ArPharazonV: so if Michael is Manveru.... what is Mike? ;-)
aranfinwe has left the room.
VardaValar1: Mike is still short for Michael ;-)
ArPharazonV: my full name is Mike, whether or not it was originally short for Michael in the far past
FarmerMaggotV: heh
ArathornValar: heh me too Ar =)
ArathornValar: I dont answer to Michael unless there's cash involved :-P
Eonwe Valar: My still uses Alkar at least in Alkarinquë, the Quenya form of Aglareb :}
ArPharazonV: I never answer to Michael... it's just not me
IzoSprog: So am I right in saying that it would be "Alcarcalimo" - "Alcar" "Calima", so,
IzoSprog: That'd be the name and definition, though it would probably be enough to just have the name, as the definition is within the name itself?
FarmerMaggotV: it seems they've changed the SigmaChat protocol in some way
ArathornValar: what if I give ya a dollar!
FarmerMaggotV: cuz my stuff keeps crashing ><
ArPharazonV: if you say "Michael, I'll give you a dollar" the thought won't even enter my mind that you're speaking to me
VardaValar1: They have to tweak the code every few days to justify their jobs, maybe?
FarmerMaggotV: heh
FarmerMaggotV: It should be a minor patch
FarmerMaggotV: they apparently have added some weird command that doesn't have the same number of parameters as the others
FarmerMaggotV: so my code, expecting all 6 parameters, dies
Eonwe Valar: Only in Quenyan :}
VardaValar1: Izo, you looking for Sindarin or Quenya?
VardaValar1: or any quick fix? ;-)
Eonwe Valar: Interestingly, both Alcar and Calima are from the same root "Kal" to shine
sauronjag: sorry folks, have to go now, I like that name website though :-)
IzoSprog: Haha, well, anything for now would be fine
VardaValar1: Cool, alright
VardaValar1: Later, Lungorthin!
sauronjag: have fun and namarie everyone
sauronjag has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: so is calen, which is green :}
VardaValar1: Ok, so we should give you both a Quenya and Sindarin form and let you toss them around
IzoSprog: Sounds great!
Eonwe Valar: Calaglar would probably be a Sindarin version.
ArathornValar: er how about "Michael! look out for that bus!" :-D
bnetValar has left the room.
bnetValar has entered the room.
bnetValar has left the room.
VardaValar1: Now I have to dig out my books, but these guys will have it figured before I get it straight. :-)
IzoSprog: *grins*
ArPharazonV: ah, now that's a different matter, Arathorn... for my human nature will immediately scout the area for this Michael and the bus, and in the process see the bus itself ;-)
Eonwe Valar: One sec and I'll see if I can't find somethign other than "Cal" or "Gal" to work with.
ArathornValar: Farm: can you not change you're code to disregard the final parms if they aren't passed?
bnetValar has entered the room.
FarmerMaggotV: ok, can someone verify I'm on Sigma?
bnetValar: Eonwë (SigmaChat): you're here
VardaValar1: : )
bnetValar: Eonwë (SigmaChat): I've only heard your "welcome" about a hundred times in the last 30 seconds :}
FarmerMaggotV: Yea Arathorn, just made a check for the right ammount of parameters before extracting them
VardaValar1: Cut off your speakers and save yourself!
FarmerMaggotV: and a print if it doesn't so maybe I can figure out why sometime
Eonwe Valar: Glin- gleam
FarmerMaggotV: well, I'm out, heading to a friend's house
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
Eonwe Valar: take care Maggot :}
FarmerMaggotV has left the room.
VardaValar1: Namarie, belatedly
VardaValar1: ah hah! That second Cirth is from Noldor who wanted to be able to use sounds not found in Sindarin.
Eonwe Valar: Alata "radiance" for a Quenya alternative
Eonwe Valar: Hmm thought the Second Cirth was Angerthas Moria, and for obvious reasons adapted by Dwarves...
Eonwe Valar: A bit of trivia for future reference (I may find a use for this, beware :})
Eonwe Valar: Tengwar translates to "letters" while Cirth translates to "runes"
IzoSprog: ooh, interestin ^^
VardaValar1: Certhas Daeron, first ones for Sindarin
Eonwe Valar: Tiw would be a single "letter" and Certar would be a single rune
IzoSprog: Thats the definition again, then, Varda?
VardaValar1: Angerthas Daeron, Noldorin sound additions
VardaValar1: In here, nothing gets to be "just trivia" ;-)
Eonwe Valar: Certhas Daeron originally for SIndarin only
VardaValar1: Aye, Eonwe
Orodreth V: For those who so may be interested, there are actual tengwar fonts.
VardaValar1: The Angerthas is shown in the tables in RotK, but you have to look up which numbers go to which
VardaValar1: Just use the whole thing
Eonwe Valar: While attributed to him, some changes were likely made by the Noldor of Eregion for sounds not familiar to Sindarin.
VardaValar1: Aye, Oro. And we have some listed on our Links page : )
Eonwe Valar: Paraprhasing to show I found it :}
VardaValar1: I recognize and admire your paraphrase
Eonwe Valar: But Angerthas Moria is still the later form :}
Eonwe Valar: at least as far as I can tell
Eonwe Valar: and the Dwarves of Erebor further modified that.
Eonwe Valar: Cirth 57 and 58 are from the mode of Erebor.
VardaValar1: The Table of Values shows the Angerthas Moria on the right
Orodreth V: I also used to have one program or another which was the same idea, except it made pictures
Orodreth V: you typed in the characters you wanted (there was a reference for each character) and it could make them a border and all sorts of fun sthuff
VardaValar1: Problem with Angerthas Moria is the dwarves changed it so it would work for Khuzdul, their language, and made unsystematic changes.
Eonwe Valar: Another difference to note is that Tengwar does not typically have vowels.
VardaValar1: might not be so hot for Elvish
Eonwe Valar: Aye
VardaValar1: Hebrew skipped vowels too ;-)
ArPharazonV: so, how does all this fit in with the Dwarven alphabet given in the Hobbit? (and frankly, the only I've ever been able to use)
Eonwe Valar: I plan to learn that eventually ;} Will no doubt help my Dwarvish :}
VardaValar1: With as long a language as Elvish, that could be a good thing.
VardaValar1: Phar, that is probably Angerthas Moria
Eonwe Valar: the Dwarven Alphabet in the Hobbit is probably the mode of Erebor, a modification of Angerthas Moria.
Orodreth V: Don't tell that to Jehovah, Varda. ;-)
ArPharazonV: Jhvh?
IzoSprog: Ahh, i should go, million other things to do tonight too >_< thanks for your help, and I'll be sure to keep in touch, got you on AIM too. bringer666@gmail.com should you find anything more. Sorry to rush off >_<
Eonwe Valar: take care :}
IzoSprog: and you! great meeting you all :-)
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
VardaValar1: checked, that is what they used on the tomb inscription
VardaValar1: Namarie!
Orodreth V: Namarie!
IzoSprog: I'll get on the forums tomorrow!
Orodreth V: /me half-waves
VardaValar1: Great : )
IzoSprog has left the room.
VardaValar1: So you don't want the Angerthas Moria for Elvish
Eonwe Valar: Aye, the Tomb was Angerthas Moria, the Book of Mazarbul was mode of Erebor.
ArPharazonV: at least the Erebor-mode was easily associated with the modern alphabet ;-)
Orodreth V: Tengwar was a script devised for..Quenyan, Sindarian, or both?
VardaValar1: Oro, if you have any URL's for more fonts like that not already included in our links, please email them or put them in this chat for the Links page!
Eonwe Valar: Quenyan
Eonwe Valar: It was developed by the Noldor in Aman
VardaValar1: Aye, Eonwe is right
Orodreth V: Right, made before the Stupidity of the Elves.
VardaValar1: hehe
Orodreth V: It was then brought over.
Eonwe Valar: "the kindred of the Eldar most skilled in such matters" :}
VardaValar1: Caused by the Goof of the Overprotective Valar
Orodreth V: Did Sindarian previously have a sript, or did they adapt Tengwar?
Eonwe Valar: strange how Noldor as seen as smiths, and yet there are others who seem to have smithing skills that surpass them.
Eonwe Valar: Sindarin had Cirth
Eonwe Valar: They were devised by the SIndar.
Orodreth V: Right-o.
Eonwe Valar: I'm sure the link is noticable :}
VardaValar1: Silmarillion is good for Elvish word glossary that is hard to argue with. :-)
Orodreth V: Then quenyans was outlawed by what's-his-nam, and Tengwar went the way of the dodo.
VardaValar1: Thingol, because of the Kinslaying
Orodreth V: Or did I miss something?
Orodreth V: Yea, that whole mess.
Orodreth V: Well, Tengwar would still (presumably) be used in Aman.
Eonwe Valar: The cirth in their simplest and oldest form spread to all the peoples of Middle-Earth, including orcs.
VardaValar1: Aye, Oro
Orodreth V: Unless/until someone came up wtih something better.
VardaValar1: And Quenya was still used in a lot of writing.
Eonwe Valar: Actually, Cirth was influenced by the Tengwar so they weren't totalyl lost.
Orodreth V: Elvish Latin, I've heard it called.
Orodreth V: (Quenya)
VardaValar1: Gondorian scholars probably were more familiar with Quenya than most Elves by the time of the War of the Rings.
ArPharazonV: aye, in the Outer Lands it was like Latin
ArPharazonV: but in Aman, presumably, it is still common
VardaValar1: Right, Elvish Latin is a good description
Orodreth V: And I know bits of both Quenyan and Latin. Whee.
VardaValar1: Aye, most likely
VardaValar1: Go Oro! : )
Eonwe Valar: Hmm
Orodreth V: Latin is easier to learn. Yarr.
VardaValar1: but the Sil glossary is murder to use since it's by the Elvish word
ArPharazonV: Aiya, Vidi, Vici!
Eonwe Valar: Seems the Elves of the West all but gave up on Cirth
Orodreth V: Possibly becasue it has a larger word-set and has better grammatical rules.
VardaValar1: Veni, vidi, vici ; )
Eonwe Valar: So Cirth never developed a cursive form.
Orodreth V: Mmm, old latin.
Eonwe Valar: In Eregion it was used and thus passed to Moria though.
VardaValar1: Found your reference in Sil to aglar.
Orodreth V: Middle age latin can go back under the rock it came from. Gimme Golden Rome Latin any day.
Eonwe Valar: Most Eladr would've been using Fëanorian Tengwar.
ArPharazonV: let's develop post-roman-latin...
Eonwe Valar: *Eldar
VardaValar1: Aglar. Quenya alkar, Sindarin aglareb
Eonwe Valar: It is developed Already Phar :}
Orodreth V: We have. French, english, spanish..
ArPharazonV: it is? excellent
ArPharazonV: hehe
Eonwe Valar: It's called Italian :}
Orodreth V: Well, English German roots but..long story.
VardaValar1: All the Romantic languages are from Latin. Word is from Rome
Eonwe Valar: I could've said it's just divided into about 15-20 parts as well :}
Orodreth V: Ask me in a /msg..
Eonwe Valar: Yeah, English is a germanic language with Norman-French influences.
ArPharazonV: English, Dutch, German, Danish... all Germanic
VardaValar1: with root kal shine, just like you said
ArPharazonV: Dutch, too, has Latin influences
Orodreth V: Stupid French killed the nish German language.
Orodreth V: Yarr.
Orodreth V: Oh, come on. German has latin words by now. They were in near-constant war with the Romans for..a long time.
Orodreth V: Caused the downfall of the Emprire, but..anyways
Eonwe Valar: So Italian should be the language everyone thinks is so romantic, not French :}
ArPharazonV: go go Attila
Orodreth V: French is worse then Latin.
VardaValar1: glin, for eye-gleam. Won't work, but neat
Orodreth V: They started simplifing it (like the nice Spainards, Italians, Romaninas, and et all did) but then stopped.
Orodreth V: Which just made a bad thing worse.
Eonwe Valar: Afk for a bit. Be back to talk language in a sec :}
Orodreth V: By the way, where's a good Sindarina reference?
Orodreth V: I can only find Quenyan word-lists.
VardaValar1: A bunch about shining under kal (gal)
Orodreth V: No Sindarian ones.
VardaValar1: Sindarin galadh is tree, not to be confused with Sindarin galad for radiance.
ArPharazonV: small war2 question: is it possible to ally with a pc on bnet?
ArPharazonV: in Skirmish it's all about 'opponents'.. but never about allies
VardaValar1: Sauron says there are ways to ally, but he hasn't done it over Bnet
VardaValar1: We tend to LAN
ArPharazonV: the only way I know how is to create a map with an 'active' rescuable pc
Orodreth V: Nearly anything you can do on a LAN you can do on B.net, and vis-a-vis.
ArPharazonV: but I'd like to ally on a few existing maps...
Orodreth V: Not always, though.
VardaValar1: Under ril for "brilliance"
VardaValar1: Idril in Quenya form is Itarille or Itarilde. So Idril must be Sindarin! : )
VardaValar1: which is peculiar, but interesting.
ArPharazonV: she was obviously born before the great march, since Turgon's wife died at the Helcaraxe
ArPharazonV: which means she wasn't born with the name Idril
VardaValar1: She was called Celebrindal "silver-foot"
ArPharazonV: sounds Sindarin..
ArPharazonV: or is Celeb Quenya?
VardaValar1: celeb is Quenya
ArPharazonV: ok, nevermind then
VardaValar1: That's it for that glossary
top

After-meeting:
ArPharazonV: oh, small bit of news
Orodreth V: wow's dieing?
ArPharazonV: I found out this week that the WoW audio-cd, for which I have been waiting (it was included with the Collection-edition) is now available online, from the blizzard store
VardaValar1: If it does, Oro, we will probably head for LotRO ;-)
VardaValar1: grats, Phar : )
Orodreth V: /me grumbles loudly
VardaValar1: That does go under WoW news, thanks
ArPharazonV: just one problem... it requires payment with one of two creditcards, neither of which I currently possess...
VardaValar1: heh - always some fly in the ointment
Orodreth V: Yarr, thar be poorly run online stores ahead!
Orodreth V: Load the e-mail cannons!
VardaValar1: Get the sound off your WoW CD?
VardaValar1: afk
ArPharazonV: ah, if that were possible...
Orodreth V: $5 it's proprietary on the cd and no one has bothered to get something to play it
Orodreth V: (which would probally violate the dmca in one way or another)
ArPharazonV: but it seems I'll have to make do with what Blizzard releases from time to time on http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/WoW/Mp3s/
Orodreth V: /me rolls his eyes
Orodreth V: ooh
Orodreth V: in other music/game news
Orodreth V: there's a cool doom remix thinger
Orodreth V: doom.ocremix.com
Orodreth V: not pop musik
Orodreth V: Except for that creepy intermission thing
Orodreth V: it's like circus musicc gone wrong
Orodreth V: Darkness DawningNight is near, beginning endingDawning dark the skies are sendingCry of black and cry of sorrowEnd of light and end of morrow
Orodreth V: >.>
VardaValar1: back
ArPharazonV: hmm.... strangely enough, I can no longer locate the cd I mentioned in the Blizzard store
ArPharazonV: they seem to have removed it mere days after the release
Orodreth V: Could almost see it as D2 musik. >.>
VardaValar1: hehe
VardaValar1: Ouch, Phar
Orodreth V: They knew you wanted it, Ar.
ArPharazonV: hehe
VardaValar1: Oro, what do we have to do to get you to add to the Tolkien Encyc?
Orodreth V: I sent in a wonderful short story.
VardaValar1: Articles? Poetry? Humor? Book list and reviews?
VardaValar1: Ahh, there we go
ArathornValar: get him WoW for free with no monthly payments =D
Orodreth V: And poetry!
Orodreth V: That works, too.
VardaValar1: cool : )
VardaValar1: You get the first month free : )
Orodreth V: thats how you get MORE stories
Orodreth V: :-)
ArPharazonV: here's something... ever heard of an MPQ Extractor?
VardaValar1: Probably, and forgot it right after
VardaValar1: I hear a lot like that ; )
Orodreth V: yup
ArPharazonV: http://forums.worldofwar.net/showthread.ph p?t=310294&highlight=soundtrack
VardaValar1: Can't just play the mpq?
Orodreth V: ahh
Orodreth V: wait
Orodreth V: they're still using mpqs?
Orodreth V: that was cracked when sc came out
ArPharazonV: apparently
Orodreth V: I think they're used in wc2 too
ArPharazonV: I opened the video-mpq's from War3, once
VardaValar1: It's still Blizzard : )
Orodreth V: it's a proprietary blizzard compression format
Orodreth V: winmpq is probally the best
Orodreth V: Stupid thing won't run on my xp install though
VardaValar1: Could just play your WoW CD in the background while you're working? : )
ArPharazonV: play the CD? how do I do that?
Orodreth V: and I was too lazy to complie it myself (source was relased)
ArathornValar: yeah Ive used the extractor b4
ArathornValar: it pulls out files of all types from the MPQ files
VardaValar1: just run WoW in the background instead of the foreground ; )
Orodreth V: Doubt yo can play the wow cd
VardaValar1: Pretty silly, just ignore
Orodreth V: oh
Orodreth V: ahaha
Orodreth V: I see
Orodreth V: but then you couldn't do anything else, unless you had a very good computer.
Orodreth V: :-P
Orodreth V: oh
Orodreth V: and that link before?
Orodreth V: doom.ocremix.org
ArPharazonV: hmm... now playing the sound.mpq in Media Player... interesting effect
VardaValar1: Will it ruin your ears?
ArPharazonV: nope
Orodreth V: ...you, uh, shouldn't be able to do that
ArPharazonV: it's a 12-hour long file
Orodreth V: oh
Orodreth V: hah
ArPharazonV: with all the music etc in one straight line, it seems
Orodreth V: unless the compression is really weird
Orodreth V: you..can actually hear it?
ArPharazonV: sure can
ArPharazonV: I just can't click too far into the file itself, or it stops
ArPharazonV: just for the first 2 hours or so, I can choose the time
ArPharazonV: probably has something to do with loading-time
ArPharazonV: it starts with Ironforge ;-)
ArPharazonV: god, this is amazing... now if I had such an extractor, I could probably seperate the tracks themselves
Orodreth V: yea
Orodreth V: I'm sure someone has updated one for winxp
ArPharazonV: heh... I can probably do the same thing with speech ;-)
ArPharazonV: yup...
Orodreth V: http://shadowflare.gameproc.com/cgi-bin/do wnload.cgi?SFSetup.zip
Orodreth V: try that
ArPharazonV: and that starts with the night-elf intro
Orodreth V: I've been meaning to exract the sound from sc for awhile
ArPharazonV: this one's 3 hours
Orodreth V: lots of that is extra data
Orodreth V: I extracted the wc3 and sc bonus songs on my old comp, but got rid of winmpq later
ArPharazonV: try http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/WoW/Mp3s/ for war3
ArPharazonV: it has the war2 classics too... which brought me back into war2 to begin with ;-)
ArPharazonV: every now and then Blizzard releases a new one
VardaValar1: Go Blizzard : )
ArPharazonV: the human1, human2, and human3 are the latest.... human2 is my favorite ;-)
Orodreth V: war3 musik isn't as good as the sc stuff
Orodreth V: I <3 the bad techno of Terran.
ArPharazonV: a matter of taste :-)
Orodreth V: And mine is better then yours. QED. :-P
ArPharazonV: oh, war3.. aye, that's mostly terrible, aye
ArPharazonV: but war2 and wow rule
Orodreth V: first thing I do after playing wc3 intro campaign
Orodreth V: turn off music
Orodreth V: raise sound effects
Orodreth V: and turn on my music
ArPharazonV: I've often had the habit of playing Lotr-music during war3
Orodreth V: I had a chance to get that cd for like $2 but I didn't.
ArPharazonV: I have a huge winamp-list with all the movie-soundtracks, turn it to shuffle, and there it goes...
ArPharazonV: I downloaded all the Lotr-music ;-)
ArPharazonV: btw, watched all 3 movies again last week
VardaValar1: In one week? cool
ArPharazonV: yeah, my brother needed the pc.. so I had evenings free to watch about 11 hours of movie ;-)
ArPharazonV: anyway, the more I watch them, the more the differences with the books start to catch my eye...
Orodreth V has left the room.
ArPharazonV: and yet, they become more acceptable, as I understand what needs to be changed for a movie
ArPharazonV: as such, I've started to see them as their own seperate tale, not meant for detailed comparison to the books....
ArPharazonV: the only things bugging me now are the short stops and lack of context...
ArPharazonV: it's like they took all the famous quotes and sentences from the books and removed every bit of context between them
ArPharazonV: very odd, that
VardaValar1: There is much to love, and much to exasperate
ArPharazonV: I think that, had I not read the books, I would have thought to myself "where the heck did that come from?" at many moments in the movie
VardaValar1: Could be : )
VardaValar1: I did enjoy their crumbling bridge scene in Moria
ArPharazonV: aye, that was fun...
VardaValar1: But when they said they didn't have time to fit in this or that, I would think of that
VardaValar1: They really messed up by leaving out the Scouring of the Shire. Wrecked the ending, so that it was all over the place. All those black out areas in between too
ArPharazonV: but it's not those things that bother me.. it's the connection-less quotes
ArPharazonV: for example, I noticed with Galadriel's mirror...
ArPharazonV: that one moment Galadriel talks to Frodo about not trusting anyone or something like that, and the next moment, for some reason, Frodo offers her the Ring
ArPharazonV: in the book, there's a finely placed bridge between those two things
ArPharazonV: in the movie, the context disappears entirely
ArPharazonV: and those are the things that bother me
VardaValar1: They do things like that that make Frodo look weak
VardaValar1: He was really nerfed in the movie
ArPharazonV: it's like the writers took out all the famous quotes and placed them together without any links... and that's very odd
ArPharazonV: aye, he was..
ArPharazonV: so was Faramir
VardaValar1: Character assassination, purely there ;-)
Orodreth V has entered the room.
Orodreth V: Yarr
ArPharazonV: eep, he's pink
VardaValar1: sure enough!
Orodreth V: you and your silleh Aim.
VardaValar1: Readable though : )
VardaValar1: Yellow is hard to see
VardaValar1: You using Trillian?
ArPharazonV: I'm gonna try that extractor tomorrow, Oro... for now, I'm satisfied with just opening the MPQ in Media Player ;-)
Orodreth V: Yea.
Orodreth V: When I get around to it, I'm gonna find an old release, though.
VardaValar1: You Europeans are probably about to have the dreaded keyboard face?
ArPharazonV: what?
Orodreth V: The beels and whistles ain't worth it unless you have all of them (pro)
VardaValar1: Fall asleep on the keyboard and have the keys imprinted on your face
ArPharazonV: oh, no, I can stay awake for another half hour or so... done it for the last week or 2 ;-)
VardaValar1: ouch : )
ArPharazonV: np, I only get up at 1pm :-D
VardaValar1: You might as well move over to the western hemisphere. Already keeping our hours. ;-)
ArPharazonV: nope, starting college in a week...
ArPharazonV: so I'll have to get back in my old routine
VardaValar1: Might start trying this week or you will be very tired
ArPharazonV: hehe
ArPharazonV: now, how does this extractor work...
VardaValar1: hehe
ArPharazonV: awsome, this is so simple...
Orodreth V: yarr
Orodreth V: single-purpose programs almost always
Orodreth V: are
Orodreth V: don't try pustting stuff in though
Orodreth V: wow might not like that
ArPharazonV: nope, just told it to open the file, and there was a list of all the files...
ArPharazonV: now extracting all the files to a seperate folder ;-)
Orodreth V: hmm
Orodreth V: I bet you might be able to replace the music if you tried hard
ArPharazonV: no! I'm not putting in SC!
Eonwe Valar: back. Anyone still around?
VardaValar1: Yes
Eonwe Valar: Shocked :}
Orodreth V: no, ar
Orodreth V: I mean liek
Orodreth V: replace wow music
Orodreth V: don't try it unless you have two installs
VardaValar1: Oro and Phar are having quite a talk : )
ArPharazonV: replace it with what?
Orodreth V: the mod-protection on that thing is supposed to be insane
Orodreth V: anything, in theroy
Orodreth V: just have to rename it
Orodreth V: I think it checks all the file sizes when you patch
ArathornValar: he means changing the sounds in WoW =)
Orodreth V: so you'd have to keep a sapre copy..whatever don't try it :-P
ArPharazonV: I can have the Lorien-soundtrack as the Darnassus-background...
Orodreth V: in theory, yes
Orodreth V: I did it with SC music once
Orodreth V: but the mod-protection on that is..wait, there's none :-P
Orodreth V: blizzard dosn't mind either. they can't officialy sponsor it for various silly reasons havng to dow ith the american legal system
Orodreth V: but they havn't taken a modsite down yet, so...
ArathornValar: You there Eonwe?
ArathornValar: .hmm guess not
ArPharazonV: well, I'm outta here, I guess
VardaValar1: Take care : )
ArPharazonV: haven't found the one track I've been hoping for....
ArPharazonV: but I've never heard it actually in-game either
Orodreth V: is it a bonus track?
ArPharazonV: it's one of the tracks often used in cinematics
ArPharazonV: trailers etc
Orodreth V: try looking at the cini mpq
Orodreth V: if you can play the files in there, you can *possibly* get the sound file off of there
Orodreth V: don't ask me how, though :-P
Orodreth V: mmm
Orodreth V: dinnah
Orodreth V: back later, all
Eonwe Valar: ok, caught up on the chat
Eonwe Valar: pardon, I am here :}
VardaValar1: dinner. Lovely thought : )
ArPharazonV: there doesn't seem to be an mpq for cinematics...
Eonwe Valar: I get to take 2 programming classes and a math class this semester, lucky me.
ArPharazonV: as I said, it's a track from the trailers...
VardaValar1: Try not to get the languages confused together! ;-)
ArathornValar: yeah Im off to make some more louisiana hot sauce shrimp soup =)
Eonwe Valar: I'll try :}
ArathornValar: hey Eonwe...
Orodreth V: I've done that. When I was learning python I used a vb command once.
Eonwe Valar: hf :}
ArPharazonV: my hopes of ever finding it seem to be slimming....
ArPharazonV: but anyway
Eonwe Valar: yes Arathorn?
ArPharazonV: I'm outta here, saving and sending
VardaValar1: Thanks!
Eonwe Valar: take care Phar :}
ArathornValar: Does your char have any extra solid stones amassed?
VardaValar1: All sauce, a bit of shrimp? : )
Eonwe Valar: chances are good I have a few, unless I ran out of room one day and needed it badly.
ArathornValar: lotsa veggies sauce AND shrimp :-P
ArPharazonV: saved
Orodreth V: yarr, planescape torment is good stuff
Orodreth V: once you get used to the stupid doors hidden by the walls
ArathornValar: ok Gulma needs sharpening stones so I sent him 10
ArathornValar: but Im out now,.. need to grab more
ArathornValar: if you can send some Im sure hed appreciate it (thats Ulmo btw =)
Eonwe Valar: I know :}
Eonwe Valar: I'll see what I have. WHich character do you want it sent to?
ArathornValar: ok off to grab some food.. l8r
Eonwe Valar: or should I just send him the sharpening stones directly?
Orodreth V: I'm afraid Food > you, Eonwe. :-\
ArPharazonV: sent!
VardaValar1: Thank you
ArPharazonV: ok, Namarie, people
VardaValar1: Namarie!
Eonwe Valar: take care :}
ArPharazonV has left the room.
bnetValar: Eonwë (SigmaChat): Well, guess I'll close Sigmachat :}
bnetValar: Eonwë (SigmaChat): Take care Sigmachat :}
bnetValar: Menelvagor-(Valar) (SigmaChat): yup, take care :-)
Orodreth V: Voices getting to you Eonwe? :-P
Eonwe Valar: No, haven't heard them in a while :}
VardaValar1: We hear voices...
IzoSprog has entered the room.
IzoSprog: ^^ hey
VardaValar1: Welcome back : )
Eonwe Valar: wb :}
Menelvagor Valar: guess you won't need an invite from me then *chuckles*
Orodreth V: I will forever associate ^^ with one particualr friend of mine..
VardaValar1: Funny the things we associate with special people : )
Orodreth V: so it always maks me doubletake when I see someone else use it :-P
VardaValar1: It's... the collective mind!
VardaValar1: We had fun digging up words for you, Izo
IzoSprog: oh?
VardaValar1: Where did you come up with IzoSprog for a name? : )
Eonwe Valar: Awaken, my child, and know that I am the Overmind...
IzoSprog: Well, my IRL nickname used to be Sprog
IzoSprog: And Izo was a name of a character I once played as
IzoSprog: So IzoSprog ^^
IzoSprog: http://media.pc.gamespy.com/media/012/01 2112/img_2765369.html - LotR - Middle Earth Online screenie
VardaValar1: What are your orders, Overmind? You must hope that I will follow them correctly, however...
IzoSprog: o_O
VardaValar1: Nice bear fight!
VardaValar1: Are you hoping for LotRO also? P )
VardaValar1: We have a thread in there, to let people know we plan on it
IzoSprog: Ah, and yes definatly
IzoSprog: Much more "serious" aura than WoW
Eonwe Valar: The Overmind never had that problem with Cerebrates :}
IzoSprog: Which i like alot
VardaValar1: I rather like fun : )
IzoSprog: oh, course, but I find fun in realism, than comicalism, though I love WoW
VardaValar1: I keep hoping they will come out with LotRO, waited many years
IzoSprog: 2006 apparantly
VardaValar1: I fear they will make it far beyond my poor comp
IzoSprog: ahh thats a worry
VardaValar1: That is the latest they claim, aye
VardaValar1: They pushed it back a year every year for many years, as if they really had a date. ;-)
IzoSprog: hopefully late this year
IzoSprog: hehe
Orodreth V: Eonwe: Does Kerry count as a cerebrate?
VardaValar1: We play many things waiting, but WoW is the main one
Eonwe Valar: They went into licensing negotiations recently to get the exclusive rights to make MMORPGs based on the books.
Orodreth V: Varda: Remid you ovf anothert game company or two?
Eonwe Valar: recerntly being the last several months.
Eonwe Valar: Kerry = Kerrigan I assume :}
VardaValar1: LotRO has been worse, but yes. ;-)
Orodreth V: Yessir.
Orodreth V: What about Valve and HL2? :-P
Eonwe Valar: She's unique in that sense. She certainly has the potential to control the Zerg swarms, given there is no Overmind.
Orodreth V: She cut you off from the rest of the cerebrates.
Orodreth V: I'd say she's got a little power int hat area.
Eonwe Valar: Don't remember that in Starcraft.
Orodreth V: First BW Zerg mission
Eonwe Valar: Will have to replay at some time
VardaValar1: The BW missions sort of rewrote the story
Orodreth V: howso?
Orodreth V: It's interesting that I've found I play most FPS and RPGs for their singleplayer content but pretty much all other games for their Multiplayer content..
VardaValar1: One of the few games I enjoyed most as a single player was SC/BW
ArathornValar: back.. re stones Eonwe, he only needs the sharpening stones.. I can use solid stones if you dont need them on my Haran char
VardaValar1: Generally I like company
Orodreth V: The only RPG I've played for mp content was WoS
VardaValar1: Fainan likes sharpening stones. : )
VardaValar1: Do you still have WoS going?
Orodreth V: but that was more or less a chat room with window dressing after you hit 100 a couple times :-P
VardaValar1: hehe
Orodreth V: hah
Orodreth V: no
VardaValar1: ah well
Orodreth V: Dunno if I even have it installed on my laptop
IzoSprog: http://media.pc.ign.com/media/761/761534/i mg_2982312.html
Orodreth V: but
IzoSprog: yummy pic
Orodreth V: interestingly enoungh
Orodreth V: I just chatted with an oooooold friend
Orodreth V: who still devs for wos
Orodreth V: and he showed me this
Eonwe Valar: I'll see what I've got
Eonwe Valar: afk for a sec
Orodreth V: http://www.synthetic-reality.com/cgi-bin/ulti matebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=12;t=001918
VardaValar1: White-haired Glorfindel
Orodreth V: I may or may not return to WoS in the near future
Orodreth V: >.>
IzoSprog: concept art for LotR- Battle for ME 2, just browsing IGN for stuff
IzoSprog: wish I could draw >_<
IzoSprog: hehe
VardaValar1: Grabbed for my screensaver. That hurts no copyright that I know of
Orodreth V: nah
Orodreth V: copy's on your computer just by looking on it
VardaValar1: Look at something you think is cool, try to work out the scale, or work on a part of it
Orodreth V: copyright was made to protect innovation, not innovations' creator
Orodreth V: for non-digital art, this still holds
VardaValar1: If you want to draw, just do it. Don't worry about if it's great. Then it might even happen that you get good with practice. : )
VardaValar1: Aye, Oro. I won't be putting it up on our Glittering Caves of Aglarond, no permission : )
Orodreth V: and the thing for ign watermarked
Orodreth V: ugg
Orodreth V: I know they have to do that to prevent peopel from stealing their bandwidth
Orodreth V: but still
Orodreth V: oh, ign has an ad for FEAR
Orodreth V: it's a fps, my bad
Orodreth V: The name still dosn't make sence though. -.-
Eonwe Valar: back
VardaValar1: Welcome back : )
Eonwe Valar: Thanks :}
Orodreth V: Anyone up for a game or three of TFT/BW?
Orodreth V: You pick the map
Eonwe Valar: I'll pass. I don't have that kind of time tonight.
Orodreth V: bah
Orodreth V: /me makes note to harass Eonwe next time he sees Eonwe on TFT or AIM >.>
Eonwe Valar: In fact, I think I'll call it a night right now.
Eonwe Valar: Take care all, good night, sleep well, and have fun.
Orodreth V: You too, namarie!
Orodreth V: Don't (stop) let the (playing) bedbugs (WoW) bite!
Eonwe Valar: They won't :}
Orodreth V: Subliminal messages are fun!
Eonwe Valar has left the room.
Menelvagor Valar: maybe it's me, but I'm getting that subliminal message entirely wrong
Orodreth V: the right way to get it is to stop playing wow
Menelvagor Valar: to me, it sounds like "Don't let or stop the playing bedbugs from WoW bite.
Orodreth V: "={
Orodreth V: :-P*
Menelvagor Valar: btw, Oro.
VardaValar1: Oops. Did Eonwe crash?
ArathornValar: well Im off to farm mageweave to make more stuff for my priest since I have this desire to play even MORE WoW... odd.. l8r all!
VardaValar1: hey
Orodreth V: I hate you too Arathorn. :-)
ArathornValar: no he left
VardaValar1: How far did your priest get in BFD?
VardaValar1: Midrog and his bro play?
ArathornValar: well you wouldnt fly down here in the last 20 minutes to give me my personal copy of TFT so :-P
Menelvagor Valar: Once TFT becomes "wow" again, I'll be playing "wow" again :-P
Orodreth V: TFT is WoW.
ArathornValar: no he crashed as I got my last brain then got mobbed ;-P
Orodreth V: play TOB or EotA.
Orodreth V: >.>
Menelvagor Valar: then you got your message completely wrong
Orodreth V: er
Orodreth V: TFT is wow
Orodreth V: I meant to stop playing WoW
Orodreth V: caps matter
Orodreth V: >.>
Menelvagor Valar: well, WoW is wow too
Orodreth V: WoW is snore. :-P
VardaValar1: ouch Ara
Menelvagor Valar: well...
VardaValar1: Midrog and brother sure have a hard time with their comps
Menelvagor Valar: the problem is, if WoW is wow to me
Menelvagor Valar: and TFT is wow
Orodreth V: *3 hours later*
Menelvagor Valar: then if WoW is snore, then TFT is snore
Orodreth V: Your MOM is snore!
Menelvagor Valar: yes she is
Menelvagor Valar: gone to bed about 4 hours ago.
ArathornValar: then WoW ergo ipso facto is also TFT
Menelvagor Valar: indeed, Ara
Menelvagor Valar: which means we're all playing TFT
ArathornValar: and its wow!
Orodreth V: I never see you guys on though..
Menelvagor Valar: it's just that Oro is in the wrong channel
Orodreth V: Well add me! :-P
VardaValar1: Try Valar channel
Menelvagor Valar: Oro! I have an idea for you!
VardaValar1: I added you Oro, and generally don't see you either : )
Menelvagor Valar: go to your local Rhino, toss down your wow saying it's broken or sumthin and demand a new wow
Orodreth V: Varda: I sleep weird. :-P
ArathornValar: I saw him once but he was afk the whole time I was there :-P
Menelvagor Valar: and then you can join us
ArathornValar: African animals live and sell WoW in major cities now O.O
VardaValar1: My gaming is crazy mad irregular in timing, which does not help
Orodreth V: You all are so mean, flaunting your ability to procure money. >.>
Menelvagor Valar: quite so, 3/4 of the time spent in wow by Oro is time spent sleeping.
ArathornValar: HA! procure money.. thats funny
ArathornValar: I have -40 dollars in the bank
VardaValar1: You will have to hint strongly for a birthday present, like a 6-month WoW payment
Orodreth V: Menel: You ever around back before WoW in the Valar channel..? :-P
Menelvagor Valar: I think I have some 4000 on the bank
Menelvagor Valar: nope, I'm in the wrong channel as well
Orodreth V: I used to be the sleeping watchman. >.>
Menelvagor Valar: then again, that's mostly for my study, and gained by lots and lots of hard work
Menelvagor Valar: ergo: getting a "sod off" bounty because my apartment will get torn down
Orodreth V: I used to idle BW in there for days.
Orodreth V: ...then I idled TFT in clan vala for days while it still existed
Menelvagor Valar: bah, I don't like sleeping watchmen
Menelvagor Valar: do too much sleeping and too little watching for my taste :-P
VardaValar1: Now the ones who took our Clan Vala name seem to have collapsed
VardaValar1: We really could make it again
Menelvagor Valar: we tried it once, went back down again
Orodreth V: I honestly don't care if we get that going again
Orodreth V: I just want to play with reliable people
Menelvagor Valar: melee's or UMS?
Orodreth V: I mean, I've got a nice network a friends on my alt, but eh..
Orodreth V: ums ftw
Menelvagor Valar: ftw?
Orodreth V: for the win
Menelvagor Valar: ah, ok
Menelvagor Valar: so that's like ums melee...?
Orodreth V: or "custom maps" as blizzzard calls them in tft
Orodreth V: why, I dunno
Orodreth V: ums was a perfectly fine name
Orodreth V: eh?
Orodreth V: altered melee is fun
Orodreth V: not much of it on wc, though
Orodreth V: I play Aeon of Strife maps mostly
Orodreth V: some RPGs
Menelvagor Valar: I guess I can throw in one last late night game as a bit of farewell to late night gaming
Orodreth V: I have yet to find a good tft LotR map
Orodreth V: Right, Europe.
Menelvagor Valar: yes
Orodreth V: it's what..3am? at least
Menelvagor Valar: and pretty lucky school doesn't start until tomorrow (tuesday)
Menelvagor Valar: 4 am
Menelvagor Valar: give or take a couple seconds
Orodreth V: mine starts a week after tuesday
Orodreth V: so that puts you where..france? norway? I dunno european timezones well.
Menelvagor Valar: well, you don't have to get out of bed at 12 AM to get ready for school
Orodreth V: 12 am
Orodreth V: noon or midnight?
Menelvagor Valar: France, Norway, Spain, all down to Greece and Moscow have the same time zone
Menelvagor Valar: midnight
Menelvagor Valar: or at least, it will be midnight to you
Menelvagor Valar: unless you're not on EST
Orodreth V: france to Moscow?
Orodreth V: that..a long ways o.0
Menelvagor Valar: yup
Orodreth V: be 11 for me then
Orodreth V: (central)
Menelvagor Valar: well, I believe Siberia has about 7 or 8 different timezones
Orodreth V: yea
Menelvagor Valar: 11 indeed
Orodreth V: which is 6 am for you
Orodreth V: I have to get up then
VardaValar1: Menel, will you be sending a transcript?
Menelvagor Valar: europe got one long stretched out time zone for themselves
Menelvagor Valar: I will :-)
Menelvagor Valar: my last one in at least 7 weeks
VardaValar1: I need to cut mine off and put it on the News, quilt yours in if we have anything we should put in
VardaValar1: awww
VardaValar1: Thanks
Menelvagor Valar: until autumn break that is :-)
VardaValar1: I better not crash for 7 weeks!
Orodreth V: school has yet to stop me from idling in here. cept for that horrible picnic today
Menelvagor Valar: won't be much use for me to send half a transcript in between
Orodreth V: but let's not speak of that
Menelvagor Valar: then again, Oro, it is not 4 am in the morning for you
Orodreth V: this is true
Orodreth V: but school has never stopped me from being up until 4am either :-P
Menelvagor Valar: and you will not have to get up for a long tiring, gruesome day of school in 2 hours
Orodreth V: For awhile I slepts from when I got home until 10ish
Orodreth V: then was awake the entire night
VardaValar1: How about for a fun-filled day of school instead ; )
Orodreth V: it's the first day of school
Menelvagor Valar: and, I don't think you have quite the determination to finish school, since I dropped out of high school and didn't finish another education I started a long time ago.
Orodreth V: I have never done anything the first day
Orodreth V: I'll finish
Orodreth V: if nothing else
Menelvagor Valar: oh, I don't doubt that
Orodreth V: school adds flavor to the day
Menelvagor Valar: but the thing is, finishing school this time, will bring me quite a bit closer to fulfilling my greatest dream
Orodreth V: summer gets boring no one to laugh at
Orodreth V: which would be..?
Menelvagor Valar: moving back home
Menelvagor Valar: or should I say, moving forward home
Menelvagor Valar: since I've never been home in my entire life
Menelvagor Valar: ergo: the US
Orodreth V: how can you..er
VardaValar1: It can be very hard, coming in
VardaValar1: I hope your experience will be good.
Menelvagor Valar: I know, even though the US and the Netherlands still retain very good relations
VardaValar1: Thank you for the compliment
VardaValar1: True : )
Menelvagor Valar: well... to be perfectly honest
Orodreth V: us is still teoorist happy
Menelvagor Valar: compared to the Netherlands, the US suck *bleep*
Orodreth V: or should I say
Orodreth V: terrorist terrified
Menelvagor Valar: but it's still home to me
Orodreth V: if you've never been there...?
VardaValar1: If the Netherlands is better, why leave?
Menelvagor Valar: because my heart lies in the US
VardaValar1: Seriously?
VardaValar1: Maybe your heart can have more than one home. : )
Menelvagor Valar: perhaps
Menelvagor Valar: but I do know that ever since I can remember I have felt a connection to the US
Orodreth V: Yarr. Wasn't Amsterdam the home of a mini-goverment community at one point?
Menelvagor Valar: don't know, although I do seem to remember that The Hague has always been the seat of power for the Netherlands
Menelvagor Valar: and before that, Holland
Orodreth V: Yea..hold on, consulting the great Wikipedia.
VardaValar1: Since we have tons of people who came from the Netherlands and everywhere else, there really is a connections
VardaValar1: connection
Orodreth V: no mention
Orodreth V: oh well
Menelvagor Valar: there is a reason why a lot of names in New York are hard to pronounce, or have roots in the Netherlands :-)
Menelvagor Valar: or names like Vanderbilt
Orodreth V: Well, everyone in Minnesota is from Scandinavia. :-P
Menelvagor Valar: you know that Vanderbilt is actually an alliteration from the name van der Bilt?
Menelvagor Valar: and the "Bilt" is the highest hill in the Netherlands.
VardaValar1: I got the van part, but did not know the others were two words
VardaValar1: the Hill? : )
Menelvagor Valar: which makes the meaning come down to "from the Bilt"
Orodreth V: My mouse has fallen on the floor.
Menelvagor Valar: nope, the Bilt is the name of the hill
Orodreth V: And I'm too lazy to pick it up.
Menelvagor Valar: no mountains here, so that's why I used highest hill instead
VardaValar1: Poor mouse
Orodreth V: Netherlands ieans the low country, dosn't it?
VardaValar1: Below sea level
VardaValar1: Amazing place
Orodreth V: I know it's considered one of the low countries.
VardaValar1: Might be a solution if we have a lot of rising water from global warming
Orodreth V: Diplomacy teaches geography!
Menelvagor Valar: Netherlands just is old english for low lands
Menelvagor Valar: 75% of the country is below sea level
Menelvagor Valar: I believe the lowest part is some 500 feet below
VardaValar1: I live about five feet above sea level. Rising water does interest one in such a case
VardaValar1: wow! 500 feet below!
Orodreth V: I think I'm a couple hundred yards here
Orodreth V: no
Orodreth V: wait
Orodreth V: /me checks
Orodreth V: ok, I can't remember where I got that figure
Orodreth V: I think someone I knew had gps and that's what it claimed
Orodreth V: anyone check out that doom remix site?
VardaValar1: Was that the last link?
