DemonicHorde69 has left the room.
Arwen V1: he messaged me as well, nice guy.
Arwen V1: =D

Eonwe Valar: If he comes in at some point, we'll let him give his few words :}
ArPharazonV: yeah, he got into it pretty fast... won't be long before he floods you with articles perhaps ;-)
VardaValar1: We'll see
Eonwe Valar: Any more member news?
ArPharazonV: Fladrif won't be here, or perhaps later...
ArPharazonV: he is occupied at the moment
ArPharazonV: that's all from me...
Eonwe Valar: Maglor popped in right before meeting, had to go before we officially began, though.

Eonwe Valar: If that covers member news, On to Web News:
Eonwe Valar: Any web news?
VardaValar1: Yes
Eonwe Valar: Your floor :}
VardaValar1: Names page is almost re-done, may be up during the meeting  (note: was finished but internet connection not allowing ftp)
ArathornValar: Maglor is out at dinner and Grimbold had to work...
VardaValar1: Web folk will need to use a new url for it
VardaValar1: I'm now doing it, as Irmo passed it back to me
VardaValar1: Elves page re-done
VardaValar1: Anyone finding bad links please email me
VardaValar1: That's all from here
Eonwe Valar: Thanks Varda
Eonwe Valar: Any other WebWeavers spinning anything?
VardaValar1: Games page? Had any time for it?
Eonwe Valar: Not yet
Eonwe Valar: At best I'll have time during Thanksgiving, at worst during Christmas
VardaValar1: About flying unicorn, he tried to join once but test interrupted
VardaValar1: Anyone have him on AIM?
FallenGlory has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya
TurgonjustTurgon: unfortunately, no
Eonwe Valar: the only part I have is to set up the tables and put it on the web, but that in itself will take some time I don't have right now
FallenGlory: Heya
ArPharazonV: flying unicorn? I have him on AIM... but wasn't he one of the interrupters last week?
VardaValar1: Maybe if the meeting is short, you will have a few minutes : )
TurgonjustTurgon: maybe I can be of assistance in that Eonwe
VardaValar1: Last week members were inviting anyone on their lists
VardaValar1: even bad lists : )
VardaValar1: ok, forget it : )
Eonwe Valar: Thanks Turgon, but I'm doing something a little new this year and would rather not pass it around :}
TurgonjustTurgon: secrets safe with me :-)

Eonwe Valar: If no more web news, on to Gaming News :}
VardaValar1: re-checked transcript, don't want flying unicorn for sure! : )
ArPharazonV: I have the transcript from last week here... and found a quote from flying unicorn I wouldn't like to repeat here.... but still, I'll let the matter go
ArPharazonV: ah
Farmer Maggot V: afk, dinner
ArPharazonV: you found the same thing? ;-)
Eonwe Valar: First :WC3
Shaggyjoe: yes, how is WC3 going?
ArPharazonV: I played WC3 yesterday...
Eonwe Valar: We've got 13 members under the 28 day limit, 2 just right outside
Eonwe Valar: this is still out of 24. We need at least 10 under the limit, so we're still ok
Gamatzgamatz: wats this about wc3?
Shaggyjoe: I see
Gamatzgamatz: because im an avid and active player on roc and tft
Eonwe Valar: Even if you don't log in under the 28 days (which means hopefully 10 others have) makes sure you log in under 60 or so days,.. the limit on Accounts is still 3 months
Eonwe Valar: We have a WC3 branch for Guild members,.. alot got trimmed a few weeks ago for having more than 300 days since their last login.
Shaggyjoe: If I can find my CD key I might remake an account and join you guys on occasion, I could also stand as a placeholder if the need arrises to have an extra person to keep the guild active...
Gamatzgamatz: hey i would like to join by the way
VardaValar1: Gamatz is Thranduil.
Eonwe Valar: If you'd like to get a guild tag for your Guild account, have me or Gwaihir get with you for one
Gamatzgamatz: k
ArPharazonV: Thranduil, eh? Will make a buddy comment abou that...
ArPharazonV: *about
Eonwe Valar: Join the branch or join the Guild? You are Thranduil, right? :}
VardaValar1: Shaggyjoe is Gelmir
Gamatzgamatz: yup
Shaggyjoe: Oh, yes ecsuse me.. Gel here ; )
Eonwe Valar: ok, just clarifying which you wanted to join :} One you are already a member of in that case :}
VardaValar1: FallenGlory is Olwe
Gamatzgamatz: yup
Eonwe Valar: If you're looking for people to game with, don't underestimate the usefulness of our Forum. We have a WC3 section for getting together.
Eonwe Valar: Anything else on WC3?
Eonwe Valar: Ok, On to WoW :}
VardaValar1: Be sure to sign up for the forum displaying your guild name
ArathornValar: I have some Wow news...
Eonwe Valar: Aye, use your Guild name
Gamatzgamatz: k
Gamatzgamatz: thanks
Eonwe Valar: WoW Open beta Started this week :} Some of us actually got in :}
Eonwe Valar: Go agead Arathorn :}
Eonwe Valar: *ahead
ArathornValar: I finally got the Beta from Grimbold because I kept getting disconnected from Blizzard... not impressed with their new download system .. heh...
ArathornValar: Grimbold and I are on Server 'Test 17' or 'Test 26' in Central zone...I'm in as ArathornV (Male Human Warlock) on 17 or ...
ArathornValar: Harana (Female Dwarf Paladin) on 26. Maglor has also joined us in Test 26. 3 dwarves.. no waiting.. :-D
ArathornValar: The servers are VERY slow at times tho.. so expect a lot of lag...
ArPharazonV: what would that system be? bittorrent?
ArathornValar: Their major final test.. have over 500k people testing :-)
Farmer Maggot V: IIRC it's a bittorrent client written just to do their download
Farmer Maggot V: but I could be wrong
ArathornValar: not sure... it uses other peoples pcs to download to others who connect
ArPharazonV: ah, that system.... worked perfect for me... but hey, we can't all be so lucky
ArPharazonV: I've used it multiple times for downloading wow movies and such
ArathornValar: keeps disconnceting me though... luckily Grimbold pulled through for my and uploaded it to my ftp server :-D
Eonwe Valar: It is an open beta. They are using a limited number of servers to approximate the loads they are expecting on a typcial post-release server. They are currently running a few times more than other MMOs per server,..
Eonwe Valar: Something like that,.. posted on BLizzard General Forum
ArathornValar: That's about it. Not sure when this beta ends. Probably when the game comes out on the shelves in the next couple of weeks.
ArPharazonV: I've heard a date... lemme find it
Eonwe Valar: Thanks Arathorn :}
Eonwe Valar: Nov 23rd :}
Eonwe Valar: Got it saved in my brain :}
ArathornValar: that's the one :-)
ArPharazonV: november 18th I read...
TurgonjustTurgon: Phar, give us the link to the Female Human Paladin armor again :-)
ArPharazonV: lol
TurgonjustTurgon: it's 23rd
ArPharazonV: will do
ArPharazonV: november 23rd was the release date, I thought?
ArPharazonV: with november 18th being final beta date?
Eonwe Valar: When we form the WoW branch, it will be on USEast Servers
VardaValar1: All of our games default to US East, by the way
Eonwe Valar: Anything else on WoW?
ArPharazonV: px?FN=wow-general&T=535087&P=1
ArPharazonV: the two links in the first post
ArPharazonV: that was what you were looking for, Turg?
TurgonjustTurgon: yep
Eonwe Valar: Haven't seen it,.. get the impression it can hardly be called armor,..
Eonwe Valar: Any other gaming news?
VardaValar1: Aye
ArPharazonV: hey, it's worth 4k... it had better be working as armor :-)
VardaValar1: Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction
VardaValar1: Our guild ladder
VardaValar1: Please send in your scores
TurgonjustTurgon: well, take in mind that this "armor is almost 3 times as good as "normal armor"
VardaValar1: It's ok even if you email them to me every day or so, takes very little time to put on the page
VardaValar1: but without scores, the page is not as helpful as it should be
VardaValar1: Your account names are very helpful for friend lists
VardaValar1: That's all
GaldorV has entered the room.
GaldorV: Aiya
VardaValar1: Aiya
Eonwe Valar: I doubt I even have D2 accounts at this point,...
VardaValar1: We have some spots in the ladder that could use even low folk
GaldorV: I actually logged into my D2 accounts last night
VardaValar1: Some others have heavy competition
VardaValar1: I may be gone most of this week, other side of Texas, will be back though
VardaValar1: But the email will be checked, so don't let that stop you!
TurgonjustTurgon: not really all that interested in D2x anymore, I lost my main non-ladder characters over my recent comp troubles :-(
VardaValar1: Come start some Quest for Three games with new ladder guys with us :-)
TurgonjustTurgon: when I am online and you have the time
VardaValar1: sounds fun : )
TurgonjustTurgon: I rarely play d2 these days, and only when other people present
TurgonjustTurgon: which may be a problem, as I intend not to log in to find out
Eonwe Valar: Any other news of any kind?
Eonwe Valar: Whisper Tolkien topics as well
VardaValar1: Eowyn and Fangorn say hi, are repairing a computer
ArPharazonV: hi back
Eonwe Valar: Heya to Eowyn and Fangorn

Eonwe Valar: Ok, Varda has a topic :}
VardaValar1: Also, if any of you need to learn more about your own characters or aspects of role-playing it, this is a good time to ask or have talk
VardaValar1: Mine came up in a conversation with Fangorn
ArathornValar: Oh.. had a comment about gaming..
VardaValar1: We wondered what kind of relationship the Beornings and Mirkwood have
Arwen V1: Namarie, folks. Off to church I am.
ArPharazonV: Namarie
Arwen V1 has left the room.
ArathornValar: re: latest version of a Half-Life Co-op build.. callled Sven Coop...
VardaValar1: Sven coop has been around for a while
ArPharazonV: hmm... gonna look it up in the Hobbit...
ArathornValar: it's a new build tho.. works with steam
ArathornValar: And they had new maps and Graphics. They've added nocs that help you.
TurgonjustTurgon: npc's*
ArPharazonV: "Some say he is a bear descended from the great and ancient bears of the mountains that lived there before the giants came.
ArathornValar: There's a fe wWW2 maps that are quite good gameplay. Just letting anyone know that has half-life .. know some ppl still played it. (yeah .. NPCs)
Eonwe Valar: Seems not many by the Games Page report
ArPharazonV: Others say that he is a man descended from the first men who lived before Smaug or the other dragons came into this part of the world, and before the goblins came into the hills out of the North.
ArathornValar: I think Maglor was in once with Turg and I..
ArPharazonV: I cannot say, though I fancy the last is the true tale. He is not the sort of person to ask questions of."
ArathornValar: Anyway. Just mentioning.
ArPharazonV: /end quote
ArPharazonV: ... anyone still here?
Eonwe Valar: I am :}
Gamatzgamatz: me
Gamatzgamatz: sort of...
ArathornValar: we seem to be lagging
VardaValar1: I'm here
ArPharazonV: I'm not lagging.... do you guys have bad weather?
Gamatzgamatz: not in sunny california
VardaValar1: We wound up on two threads at once, may have killed both
Eonwe Valar: The question was relationship between Mirkwood and the Beornings
ArPharazonV: was my quote in any way relevant to the answers you seek to that question?
GaldorV: Gotta go, busy around here .. Namarie all
GaldorV has left the room.
VardaValar1: Namarie, Galdor
Eonwe Valar: It goes over the origin of the Beorning,s but not how they may have had dealings with Mirkwood
VardaValar1: Might help though
ArPharazonV: oh, you meant dealings with Mirkwood...
VardaValar1: In case someone forgot who Beorn was
ArPharazonV: I thought a blood-relation between the Beornings and the people around Mirkwood
Gamatzgamatz: i think this should help u guys...
Gamatzgamatz: When Gandalf and Thorin's company are brought safely to the Carrock by the Great Eagles of the Misty Mountains, the wizard tells his companions that there are few people living in the district.
Gamatzgamatz: There are villages of men farther south (probably beyond the Old Forest Road) in the valleys of the mountains and along the river shores. These people are referred to as "Woodmen" in The Hobbit who have been gradually
Gamatzgamatz: returning north. They are related to the Woodmen of Mirkwood according to Tolkien in the appendix to The Lord of the Rings, but many people wonder if these are the people whom Beorn one day comes to rule.
Gamatzgamatz: whew...
VardaValar1: Thanks
VardaValar1: Was that a copy/paste? : )
Gamatzgamatz: half
Gamatzgamatz: lol the beggining
Gamatzgamatz: by the way beorn was a man
ArPharazonV: "Beorn indeed became a great chief afterwards in those regions and ruled a wide land between the mountains and the wood"
VardaValar1: Phar was quoting. One of those things Tolkien does to show a mystery to the people in Middle-earth
Gamatzgamatz: ya its truly anyones guess
ArPharazonV: that was a quote directly from Gandalf, not an 'author's note' like the ones Tolkien uses to flood the Hobbit with background information
ArPharazonV: *used
VardaValar1: It sounded as if Beorn was a man, a berserker type
VardaValar1: Tolkien does that all through all his books, not just in notes
VardaValar1: His some say this and some say that : )
Gamatzgamatz: maybe he was a chosen one... but arent the beornings beyond mirkwood?
VardaValar1: Yes, just outside Mirkwood. Neighbors
ArPharazonV: yes, I know... but Tolkien uses quite the personal approach in the hobbit, which is not found in Lotr or the Silm
VardaValar1: Fangorn and I were wondering about the relationship between the two neighbors
VardaValar1: Both are rather reclusive, but great guardians
Gamatzgamatz: true
Gamatzgamatz: anyways alright guys im out but with a final nore
Gamatzgamatz: *note i wanna mention that
Gamatzgamatz: the beornings are very very much related to the rohirrim
Gamatzgamatz: this is proved by bilbo himself, they both had a love for horses and made powerful breeds
VardaValar1: And the hobbits came through Rohan on their migration towards the Shire
Gamatzgamatz: and their tradition of horseback riding
Gamatzgamatz: yup
Gamatzgamatz: anyways alright good night!!!
VardaValar1: Namarie1
ArPharazonV: Namarie
VardaValar1: Namarie!
Gamatzgamatz: namarie
Gamatzgamatz has left the room.
VardaValar1: So would Legolas have passed through the Beornings' land on the way to Rivendell for the Council of Elrond?
VardaValar1: Would they have minded?
VardaValar1: Or would they be friendly to the son of the King of Mirkwood?
ArPharazonV: I suppose he did pass through there... it seems right on the way between the usable mountain path/Rivendell and the Mirkwood halls
VardaValar1: It suggests any traffic between Rivendell and Mirkwood would be known to the Beornings
Shaggyjoe has left the room.
ArPharazonV: well, I don't think Beorn or his ascendants would have any grudge against Thranduil's people, after the events of the BoFA
VardaValar1: So they would have some friendly relationship with both sets of elves
VardaValar1: (Battle of Five Armies) : )
ArPharazonV: indeed :-)
ArPharazonV: btw, I suppose Legolas was already born when the BoFA happened?
VardaValar1: No mention of it, but I wonder if the Beornings might have visited both places
VardaValar1: Yes
VardaValar1: Legolas may have been one of the "captains" of Thranduil
ArPharazonV: how old was Leggie in Lotr?
VardaValar1: Legolas was certainly old enough to be alive at BoFA
VardaValar1: Tolkien never says Legolas' age
VardaValar1: But we know he was well over 500 when they came to Fangorn Forest, the Fellowship
ArPharazonV: ah, yes, that would definitely make him alive at the BoFA...
VardaValar1: I would guess he was born after Thranduil was king in Mirkwood
VardaValar1: Possibly a reaction to the huge losses at the Alliance battle
ArPharazonV: he could have been alive when Deagol found a shiny object in the Anduin....
VardaValar1: You'll note the way there is a baby boom after major wars : )
ArPharazonV: yes, people often like to celebrate in a certain way whenever peace reaches them again :-X
VardaValar1: Last Alliance Second Age 3430
VardaValar1: Deagol was Third Age 2463, death
VardaValar1: so you could be right about Legolas being alive when the shiny was found : )
Eonwe Valar: heh, the shiny
ArPharazonV: lol, ok... but I made that statement in response to the 'well over 500' remark, not the 'reaction to the Alliance battle' remark
HearNoEvil80 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya
ArPharazonV: hmm... I suppose I could make my new rp-post now.... but I would have to wait until night has already fallen to make the next one
VardaValar1: The Beornings may well have visited the Last Homely House
HearNoEvil80: Aiya, sorry so late...duty calls yet again
ArPharazonV: so I think I'll wait a bit more.... at least until you begin supper...
ArPharazonV: Aiya
VardaValar1: Elrond seemed to have visitors of all types, less reclusive
VardaValar1: Phar, so you want to wait for your character to come in after the talk with Thranduil?
VardaValar1: When duty calls, we answer. np
ArPharazonV: yes, I do... or perhaps reach the halls when the talk is already underway
VardaValar1: back to the Tolkien chat : )
ArPharazonV: you were planning on talking to him during, after, or before supper?
ArPharazonV: oh, ok
VardaValar1: Before
ArPharazonV: oh, well, in that case, I'm planning on waiting at least for nightfall
VardaValar1: Probably about to drag everyone I can find to the court pretty soon
ArPharazonV: so that would be clearly after the talk
VardaValar1: Just got Auros off his horse
ArPharazonV: I think I'll make my final inter-quest-post when you guys are talking to Thranduil
VardaValar1: Hearno, the Tolkien topic was the relationship of the Beornings with the elves, especially the Mirkwood elves they bordered on
ArPharazonV: and the next post after that will be when I reach the halls... but that is clearly still some time away :-)
Eonwe Valar: Pardon, looking into something at the moment, so only half-hear,.. Aye, Auros almost came hunting Calion down :}
VardaValar1: HearnoEvil is Grimbold
Eonwe Valar: *went
ArathornValar: Beorn seemed alone in the hobbit. Where were his people at that time?
Eonwe Valar: er, half-here
VardaValar1: I was ready to join if it were needed, hair muss or no ;-)
VardaValar1: Beorn seemed to have a place a little separated from the others
ArathornValar: I think Haran was on a quest for a mug of brew <chuckle> ... hmm the elves like their wine but do they have beer there?
VardaValar1: A little. Mirkwood has various visitors and beer is not hard to make
VardaValar1: But a good Dorwinion is hard to beat ;-)
ArathornValar: Don't remember it mentioned in the Hobbit... course those weren't under friendly circumstances .. heh
VardaValar1: Grimbold, we are on the side discussing our role-playing in the Forum
VardaValar1: You can join if you like
ArPharazonV: I still need a brother... but if nobody's up for that position, I suppose I can leave him behind again around the Halls
VardaValar1: This is a good time for new people to come in, especially if they want to play Mirkwood elves
VardaValar1: I was hoping to pick up a brother too
VardaValar1: We can even have temporary types who are running around the place and say hi
ArPharazonV: in fact, my next post will be in dialogue-form between me and my brother... so if anybody wants to pick up the role, he has to be pretty quick :-)
VardaValar1: Phar, looks as if it is just you and me left
Farmer Maggot V: nope
Farmer Maggot V: I'm listening :-P
VardaValar1: Aiya Farmer : )
Farmer Maggot V: as I jump out of the shadows :-P
VardaValar1: Like to jump in the rp : )
VardaValar1: ?
Farmer Maggot V: too much stuff as it is unfort
VardaValar1: Know that feeling
ArathornValar: Tried to invite Elros but his client IM doesn't accept :-\
VardaValar1: I have the Louie version on the Invited list
VardaValar1: He's probably not home
VardaValar1: or something : )
VardaValar1: The chat appears done

VardaValar1: I declare After-meeting : )
Eonwe Valar: Oops thought we were there already :}
Farmer Maggot V: way too much to do :-\..... install OS 9, configure Linux, configure webserver, do some image editing, redesign my site, program.......
ArathornValar: ok, I had only tried the other one.. just added the Louis one .. heh
VardaValar1: Was attempting a Tolkien chat, but everyone left, heh
ArPharazonV: heh... sorry about bringing up the rp...
ArPharazonV: I feel I'm doing that a lot now, screwing up Tolkien-chats:-(
VardaValar1: People just aren't talking, Phar
VardaValar1: We used to have people who would really get into the Tolkien part
VardaValar1: I miss that
ArPharazonV: well, seeing as I'm rereading Tolkien all over again, I might fit into that category one day...
VardaValar1: Got to where it turned into nothing but politics and religion, which we always used to try to not do
ArPharazonV: I've just started 'The Old Forest' again :-)
VardaValar1: Supposed to talk Tolkien's world and they promptly change it to their opinions in current world that we are trying to escape
VardaValar1: the chapter?
ArPharazonV: yeah
ArPharazonV: and I'm curious about something...
ArPharazonV: I remember reading somewhere about the Black Riders attacking the house of Crickhollow, the blowing of the horn of Buckland, etc...
VardaValar1: In Fellowship, aye
ArPharazonV: but those events are described as such in neither The Old Forest nor the Council of Elrond... and I wondered... do you have any idea where I would find more information about that?
VardaValar1: That was when Frodo and the other hobbits were trying to leave the Shire
VardaValar1: Had not entered Old Forest yet
ArPharazonV: well, that's odd... because they are now entering the Old Forest, and I haven't found it yet
VardaValar1: Find Fatty Bolger?
ArPharazonV: Fatty? where is he mentioned again after they say goodbye at the end of the forest?
ArPharazonV: *edge
VardaValar1: before that
ArPharazonV: yes, I know... but the attack on Crickhollow isn't mentioned in that part yet
ArPharazonV: and that is what I am looking for
ArPharazonV: in fact, in that part, it hasn't even happened yet
VardaValar1: digging out Fellowship book
VardaValar1: ok, with you now
ArPharazonV: I found a tiny piece in Gandalfs account in Rivendell, but it seems all he says is that he found the house when it had already been besieged, and he says nothing more about it
VardaValar1: Fatty is barely putting on his disguise to be Frodo just before the Old Forest chapter
ArPharazonV: yes, he says he'll keep some of his old clothes to keep up the appearance :-)
VardaValar1: here it is
VardaValar1: chapter A Knife in the Dark
ArPharazonV: ah, thanks, hadn't checked out that chapter yet... when is it mentioned?
VardaValar1: beginning
VardaValar1: You can see the all caps call at the beginning
VardaValar1: about 6 paragraphs down
ArPharazonV: hang on, I'll fetch the book from my room
ArPharazonV: oh, nice, that's it indeed
ArPharazonV: another question solved...
VardaValar1: My pleasure
VardaValar1: Index can be handy for such. I looked up Bolger
ArPharazonV: heh, good idea :-)
VardaValar1: Hard part is knowing what to look up
Farmer Maggot V has left the room.
VardaValar1: plus not all is in the index
ArPharazonV: but the fellowship was in my room, where I reread it, and rotk was down here, near the pc... so I didn't have it handy when I was looking for it the first time, and I didn't have fotr here when I asked it just now :-)
ArPharazonV: so I really didn't have a chance to look it up via the index ;-)
VardaValar1: I try to keep my books near during chat
VardaValar1: no biggie
ArPharazonV: yes, alright, but I do my reading in my room, but the pc for the meetings is down here...
ArPharazonV: and I usually don't move my stack of books down before the meeting :-D
Xseanzee disco has left the room.
ArPharazonV: you know, for such a quiet aftermeeting... there are still many people in the channel
Eonwe Valar: aye :}
Eonwe Valar: silence is golden :}
Eonwe Valar: a picture paints a thousnad words :}
Eonwe Valar: leggo my eggo :}
ArPharazonV: I seriously doubt those expressions (well, at least the first 2) bear any meaning in a chatroom....
VardaValar1: Working on several things
Eonwe Valar: Same here :}
Eonwe Valar: Programming right now :}
VardaValar1: Working on Names page, then will go to Forum and hope for posts
VardaValar1: Fangorn on
Eonwe Valar: Playing D2?
VardaValar1: D2X is his game, aye : )
Eonwe Valar: cool, hope he has fun :}
VardaValar1: You bet : )
VardaValar1: Running assassin hardcore, very fun
Eonwe Valar: good luck :}
ArPharazonV: :-)
ArPharazonV: still saving for WoW
ArPharazonV: but if I see the diablo battlechest in the stores, I'll be sure to pick it up...
VardaValar1: Less expensive than a MMoRPG
VardaValar1: Hope you guys remember the AIM meetings when you go to WoW
VardaValar1: They can be up same time as game, I think. True for DAoC
VardaValar1: Each MMoRPG seems to rip away a part of us
ArPharazonV: I never forget the meetings.... and I can WoW whenever I want
VardaValar1: Can WoW and meet : )
Eonwe Valar: Can make a requirement for WoW guys to attend the main meeting :}
ArPharazonV: if possible, I'll have 1 or two mains in both US East and Europe, so there will always be a server open for me whenever I play....
VardaValar1: hehe, good thought, Eonwe!
VardaValar1: Maybe I'll do the same thing for MeO!
Eonwe Valar: It's something I'm seriously considering, honestly,... not because I necessarily think any particular person will get the game and never speak with us again,..
VardaValar1: I like the idea of having a part of a MMoRPG branch meet at two times for gaming, one for East and for West hemisphere
Eonwe Valar: but because I want to make sure the WoW guys coming in realize they are part of a bigger group, and I don't want the rest of us lost on the depths of time :}
Eonwe Valar: *in
VardaValar1: I am in total agreement, Eonwe
VardaValar1: They need to have the feeling of the wider group
VardaValar1: and let's us keep in contact with old friends : )
Eonwe Valar: That's 2 Council convinced, including myself :} wonder how many more I can get :}
VardaValar1: The forum needs to be used for all games
VardaValar1: Elatan might?
VardaValar1: I don't think most of the DAoC new members realized the rest of us existed
ArPharazonV: still can't decide if I'm going for MeO too... I'll definitely go for WoW, but not sure if I'm willing to pay monthly for both games, and play them both enough to make it worth the money
VardaValar1: I'm going for MeO. I'll try to find new members there and bring them to our AIM meetings and add to Encyc
VardaValar1: Should be easier with LotR fans : )
VardaValar1: Might be a lot of movie buffs, but one can hope
ArPharazonV: I've been waiting for WoW for like 4 years, and have been a Warcraft-fan far longer... even longer than I have been a Tolkien-fan
ArPharazonV: I just heard of MeO this year, and there's no way I'm going to pass on WoW
VardaValar1: I've been waiting for MeO about as long as the guild has been going
VardaValar1: I don't expect you to, Phar
VardaValar1: I expect to have to do a lot of recruiting in MeO
Eonwe Valar: Hmm my font went italic after I hit some button,.. any way to change it back? tried editing preferences but it claims I'm set for regualr text
VardaValar1: Yes
Eonwe Valar: NM found it :}
VardaValar1: On mine, just above the typing bar, it has the fonts
VardaValar1: yay!
VardaValar1: Same for you?
Eonwe Valar: Aye :}Just looked at screen, saw it :}
VardaValar1: So what were you trying to tell us? : )
Eonwe Valar: Don't hit keys on accident :}
VardaValar1: uh oh
ArPharazonV: hm?
VardaValar1: So now we need you guys to all recruit good quality members from everywhere : )
VardaValar1: I can't be the only one doing it
VardaValar1: We are going to need replacements after the next drop of inactive members
ArPharazonV: hey, count on me to scout in WoW... but MeO recruiting would be out of my range
VardaValar1: WoW is fine
VardaValar1: So is any other game, or at school or at work
VardaValar1: even on forums
ArPharazonV: well, the only one really interested in the Guild, apparently, on the forum I visit most, has already discovered our site :-)
ArPharazonV: do you remember Raistlin Majere from a few weeks ago?
VardaValar1: Got him recruited yet?
VardaValar1: Nope
VardaValar1: Just from DragonLance : )
ArPharazonV: oh, he made a few posts in the forum
Eonwe Valar: I remember him in that he posted and he's a registered member
Eonwe Valar: of the Forum
VardaValar1: Named Raistlin?
ArPharazonV: well, I know him from the War3forum as well, although he has been posting less there lately
ArPharazonV: Raistlin Majere is his name, yes
VardaValar1: I'll look. Don't recollect his posting
ArPharazonV: ?board=maingreetings&action=display&nu m=1098900356 he even uses the same avatar... but then again, so do I :-)
VardaValar1: We get a lot of strangers on the forum
VardaValar1: They don't seem to answer my pm's either
ArPharazonV: just listening to the lotr-soundtrack again...
VardaValar1: Thranduil wants added to the WC3 clan group, according to his post
ArPharazonV: I would like to see the movies again some time, but at the moment mediaplayer seems to crash my pc...
VardaValar1: Doesn't he have to be in the channel for that?
ArPharazonV: yes, as Eonwe already replied
Eonwe Valar: With the new board version and the member sweep I'll probably be removing anyone who has an account and hasn't posted
VardaValar1: I don't see a need to remove board lurkers
VardaValar1: They may join later
VardaValar1: If they hurt nothing, I have nothing against them
VardaValar1: We do need to start up the trivia sections again as you suggested
Eonwe Valar: Some have about 3 or 4 accounts in some cases
VardaValar1: At least one
VardaValar1: Might leave just one up
VardaValar1: If they don't pick one when asked, it's your choice
VardaValar1: Chances are they forgot their own password ;-)
Eonwe Valar: Really I'm looking at removing acocunts that have been around a long time and have never posted,.. If I could find out last time since loging that would be a much better indicator,.. kinda why I'm waiting for the new version as I
Eonwe Valar: have some hope for that
Eonwe Valar: Within a day? :}
Eonwe Valar: For example, we have a 3 names that are obvious variations of the same person's info
Eonwe Valar: all joined since last night
VardaValar1: Found Raistlin's posts: Bored of the Rings, and wants to join
VardaValar1: I guess wants to join Forum
VardaValar1: All in one night!
ArPharazonV: at least somebody was interested in the tolkien parodies ;-)
VardaValar1: Might have been having trouble
ArPharazonV: is it a coincedence that the top 5 posters in our forum are all members of the rp? ;-)
VardaValar1: Nope
ArPharazonV: hey, just wanted to add my location... but it doesn't fit....
ArPharazonV: Caves of the Forgotten, Valino
ArPharazonV: doesn't seem right...
ArPharazonV: meh, I'll make it Aman :-)
ArPharazonV: well, I gotta go
ArPharazonV: time for bed
VardaValar1: Nighty night, Phar
ArPharazonV: I'll mail you the transcript now
ArPharazonV: Namarie
VardaValar1: Thanks!
VardaValar1: Especially since I was an hour off : )
ArPharazonV: you want it with or without times?
ArPharazonV has left the room.
ArPharazonV has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Unless in EST, don't want times
VardaValar1: Aiyata : )
ArPharazonV: sorry, I could thrown out of the channel
ArPharazonV: too late now, I could only save it without times
VardaValar1: Hope you got the transcript first?
VardaValar1: You don't have EST anyway, do you?
VardaValar1: I don't need times. Makes it harder to read
ArPharazonV: no, it's in GMT +1
ArPharazonV: also called WET, I suppose...
ArPharazonV: Western European Time
ArPharazonV: scb, right?
ArPharazonV: oh, sbc...
VardaValar1: Just drop the times
VardaValar1: EST is Valar Standard time
VardaValar1: No point in having other times on it
ArPharazonV: no, I mean your email
ArPharazonV: sbc...
ArPharazonV: oh, ok
ArPharazonV: lol
VardaValar1: New one is much better
ArPharazonV: easier to remember, I suppose :-)
VardaValar1: I have to try not to accidentally wipe out your emails with the spam on the other
VardaValar1: gmail separates the spam. Gotta love it
ArPharazonV: I wonder why I just typed the date somewhat backwards...
ArPharazonV: 41-11-4002 isn't a fitting date :-)
VardaValar1: 41 : )
VardaValar1: 4002 kind of futuristic at least
Eonwe Valar: only 900 years after th edestruction of the Ring :}
VardaValar1: hehe
ArPharazonV: Varda, it is sent
ArPharazonV: could you check?
VardaValar1: aye, one sec
VardaValar1: gmail?
ArPharazonV: yuppers
VardaValar1: got it
ArPharazonV: ok, good
ArPharazonV: well, Namarie... I'll see you somewhere next week
Eonwe Valar: hf
ArPharazonV: bye
VardaValar1: Namarie!
ArPharazonV has left the room.
FallenGlory has left the room.
Orodreth V has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya!
VardaValar1: So, articles?
TurgonjustTurgon: off to bed I go, Namarie
Orodreth V: Orodreth V: I may get Letters and a few volumes of HOME in a few months.
VardaValar1: Nighty night Turgon
TurgonjustTurgon has left the room.
VardaValar1: That would be great!
VardaValar1: Not for Christmas?
Orodreth V: No.
Orodreth V: Januaryishish.
VardaValar1: As far as articles, we could use a bunch from LotR and the Hobbit!
VardaValar1: Letters is really fascinating
VardaValar1: And the Histories can be fun and hair-pulling :-)
VardaValar1: If you look at a lot of our articles, they are barely place-holders
VardaValar1: You can pick anything interesting
Orodreth V: I know I'll get letters.
Orodreth V: But, uh, with my copy of LotR ded..
Orodreth V: All I have is the Sil.
Orodreth V: Well, I have BoLT 1/2 floating around, the atlas..
Orodreth V: And UT
Orodreth V: So, yea.
VardaValar1: LotR dead? Fall in a swamp? :-)
VardaValar1: Sil is loaded with good stuff
VardaValar1: Tell them you want LotR for Christmas : )
VardaValar1: Maybe at a used book store
Musics4Me2 has entered the room.
Orodreth V: I'm getting a Diplomacy board for Christmas.
Orodreth V: Well, kida.
Orodreth V: I'm paying for half of it.
Orodreth V: But it's the thought that counts, eh?
VardaValar1: Aiya
VardaValar1: That's a board game?
Orodreth V: Yes'm.
VardaValar1: You guys were calling it Diplo in a previous meeting, I think?
Orodreth V: Well, I was.
Orodreth V: But yea.
Orodreth V: No other Valar is into it. Kinda does go against what we stand for.
Orodreth V: But I blame the corruption of the world on my liking it. >.>
Orodreth V: Besides which, I've lost every game I've played. :-(
VardaValar1: ouch. And you still want it?
VardaValar1: eheh
Orodreth V: No one ever claimed I wasn't stubborn..
VardaValar1: Persistant is good : )
VardaValar1: Persistent even
Orodreth V: I always lose SC like that too.
Orodreth V: I once went around hiding pylons across the map.
Musics4Me2: lol
Orodreth V: Just to see if I could win by making the other guy give up.
Musics4Me2: there's a strategy :-P
VardaValar1: hehe
Orodreth V: Unfortunatly for me, it didn't.
Eonwe Valar: Did that my first vs person team game in WC3 :} Didn't work for me either :}
Orodreth V: He, uh, kinda nuked my last three..simultaniously.
Eonwe Valar: We lasted longer and I got something of a base, but it didn't work :}
Orodreth V: I had an old wc3 replay..
Orodreth V: I killed this one guy like a doizen times
Orodreth V: But he had built no units during the 30 minute match
Orodreth V: and just mined enough gold for a ton of town halls and farms and so forth
Orodreth V: And every time I killed his "last" town hall, I worried that he was building an army somewhere while I was neglecting my base..
Musics4Me2: I loved the nukes!
Musics4Me2: you see that red dot ;-)
Musics4Me2: it just brings certain emotions rushing to the brain
Eonwe Valar: Like "I could use some divine intervention right about now" :}
Orodreth V: Eonwe: You /are/ divine intervention.
Eonwe Valar: I also don't do alot of SC vs people :}
Eonwe Valar: Though I do manage to avoid being nuked :}
VardaValar1: hehe Oro!
VardaValar1: afk, will scroll
Orodreth V has left the room.
VardaValar1: back
Eonwe Valar: wb
Musics4Me2: 'night all
VardaValar1: Good night
Eonwe Valar: sleep well
VardaValar1: Elros trying to come in
Eonwe Valar: cool
Musics4Me2 has left the room.
VardaValar1: Hmm, I did invite lurkers to read our rp in MeO
Eonwe Valar: I e-mailed him when he e-mailed,.. glad he was albe to meet with someone before the meeting
VardaValar1: I'm glad he got more than one response
VardaValar1: I was lucky and caught him on AIM
Eonwe Valar: I was a bit surprised Eru was on the mailing list :}
VardaValar1: Me too
VardaValar1: We should ask him about that : )
Eonwe Valar: You think he gets alot of people asking to join? :}
VardaValar1: That's the first one with me on the cc
VardaValar1: Pardon, stopped to help out Bilbo in rl
Eonwe Valar: np
Eonwe Valar: Heya to the Hobbit Ringfinder :}
VardaValar1: Hi back : )
suilenroc01 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Ecthelion : )
suilenroc01: aiya all
VardaValar1: Welcome to the After-meeting
suilenroc01: haha
suilenroc01: bit late tonight i see
suilenroc01: well
suilenroc01: at least from my isolated perspective
Eonwe Valar: Heya Ecthelion
suilenroc01: here on the east coast
VardaValar1: Do you know how to invite yourself to the chat room?
suilenroc01: yes, i do
VardaValar1: ah good : )
suilenroc01: been a while
suilenroc01: high school is demanding
VardaValar1: We tend to start an hour early for Europe informally, then go formal, then have Tolkien, then After-meeting messing around for people with work etc
VardaValar1: Glad you could drop in : )
suilenroc01: glad to be here
VardaValar1: Some of us are working on web pages and pop back to see what is going on in the chat room
suilenroc01: understood
VardaValar1: Did you get a chance to answer Eonwe's Gaming pages email?
VardaValar1: I'm lagging, may crash any sec
Eonwe Valar: High school is nothing compared to college :} not to scare you from higher education :}
suilenroc01: oh, don't worry
VardaValar1: College is fun : )
suilenroc01: i don't think i got his notice
suilenroc01: but as far as college is concerned
suilenroc01: hmm
VardaValar1: Eonwe, ask him quick : )
suilenroc01: i'm taking 3 courses right now on top of senior year in high school
Eonwe Valar: If you haven't alerady, we need you to send in your gaming info
suilenroc01: okay
Eonwe Valar: *already
suilenroc01: what do you need to know?
VardaValar1: What games do you play online?
Eonwe Valar: online games you play that you'd like to be able to play with other Guild members
Eonwe Valar: and the names you use on those games
suilenroc01: hmm
suilenroc01: well, assuming i ever find freetime again
suilenroc01: i'm pretty much solely into Neverwinter Nights these days
suilenroc01: Suilenroc1 is my account name
Eonwe Valar: E-mail please :}
Eonwe Valar: easier for me to keep track of
suilenroc01: okay
suilenroc01: what's your address again?
VardaValar1: You know where to find his email?
suilenroc01: well
VardaValar1: Member page has our emails too
suilenroc01: on the site
suilenroc01: yep
suilenroc01: i can look it up then
suilenroc01: my address book is no longer reliable
VardaValar1: and he can give it in a sec
Eonwe Valar: Members Page, Activity Page, Games Page, Encyclopedia Pages,.. :}
Eonwe Valar: :}
suilenroc01: try keeping track of 80 math honor society members sometime
suilenroc01: it's a hoot
suilenroc01: *sigh*
suilenroc01: thanks
VardaValar1: I keep track of more than that, and yes it's a hoot : )
Eonwe Valar: Trust me, we know what it's like :}
VardaValar1: Is this still correct:
VardaValar1: Suilenroc01(AT)
suilenroc01: yup
VardaValar1: yay!
(Eonwe's transcript):
 Eonwe Valar: Can anyone and everyone hear me?
suilenroc01: yep
VardaValar1 has left the room.
VardaValar1 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya
Eonwe Valar: heya
Eonwe Valar: wb
VardaValar1: Can you hear me?
Eonwe Valar: I can hear you'
VardaValar1: Woot!
Eonwe Valar: Ok, Trivia Round 2, LotR Thread has begun :}
VardaValar1: Woohoo!
Eonwe Valar: That is, if anyoen is here to hear it :}
mikenowo has left the room.
VardaValar1: I told Elros
VardaValar1: He can't make it into the chat room
VardaValar1: Elros V if anyone wants to try a pm to him
ArathornValar: I'll add that to Quickaim...
VardaValar1: He is asking help on how to get on the Forum
VardaValar1: Eonwe, you want to take that one or too busy?
Eonwe Valar: It's really a short lesson. Follow link, register using Guild name,.. and done
Eonwe Valar: The Register link is right at the top of the board
ArathornValar: Ok, Quickaim updated. Off to WoW again :-)
VardaValar1: I'm working with him
Eonwe Valar: HF :}
Eonwe Valar: He already registered for the board,.. twice now it seems
Eonwe Valar: for loging in, nearly the same deal. only there's even spots on the front page to enter the user name and password then hit enter
VardaValar1: He's in now
VardaValar1: o boy
VardaValar1: He says let him keep this one and you can delete the other one
Eonwe Valar: Would you ask him if he'll be needing the elros account with the lower case "e" ? If not, I'll be deleting it since he just made Elros with a capital "E"
Eonwe Valar: ok
Eonwe Valar: Thanks for anticipating my question :}
Eonwe Valar: While I'm at it, I'll send him a PM to introduce him to checking them.
Eonwe Valar: Not like an instruction PM, just one to make sure he knows how to check them.
VardaValar1: I sent him one too
VardaValar1: Great minds...
Eonwe Valar: aye :}
VardaValar1: hehe
(Arathorn's transcript):
(23:01:09) Eonwe Valar left the room.
(23:01:46) Eonwe Valar entered the room.
(23:02:10) VardaValar1: Finished updating Names page. Now just needs all the links to the Names page changed to this new one.
(23:02:16) VardaValar1: Welcome back
(23:05:27) Eonwe Valar: thanks, glad to see it autorefreshed the channel
(23:05:56) VardaValar1: How?
(23:08:02) Eonwe Valar: don't know ,it just did
(23:08:17) Eonwe Valar: might be because AOL didn't kick me, my internet did
(23:08:18) VardaValar1: It likes you better : )
(23:08:21) Eonwe Valar: hehe
(23:08:48) VardaValar1: Internet spiking to all three comps at our house
(23:08:51) Eonwe Valar: Do you know if Elros got his PMs on the board?
(23:09:08) VardaValar1: I saw a pm to me, but internet ran too slow to look
(23:09:12) VardaValar1: Will try again
(23:09:17) Eonwe Valar: wow, wouldn't think you would have that kind of problem
(23:09:48) VardaValar1: We are on the end of the DSL line way out here
(23:10:09) VardaValar1: And we connect to it by a regular phone line to the end of the block
(23:10:22) VardaValar1: plus the gas people have been doing a lot of digging : )
(23:10:37) Eonwe Valar: ah
(23:11:01) Eonwe Valar: would've thought DSl was supposed to alleviate those problems :}
