Valar Guild

December 26, 2004 Meeting

AIM: Valar Guild Meetingplace
5pm EST
Back to News
Transcript team: Arathorn, Varda

Arathorn, Ar-Pharazon, Eonwe, Gelmir/Shaggyjoe, Gwaihir, Menelvagor, Meriadoc, Orodreth, Varda (presiding)
Varda's webwork comp virused and in shop.
Inactivity sweep, removal of members no longer interested in taking part, is beginning.
         Fladrif still interested.
         Grimbold out of town.
Ardamire in WoW Lothar. Says is old member; need to check that out.
         Faramir seen, but unresponsive.
         Boromir emailed.
Forum News Fader now has holiday message in big letters, from Menelvagor
    Games Page

       New map
Branch in danger of expiring due to lack of members using their guild accounts in our Clan Vala channel, apparent lack of interest in the game. (Expired the next day.)
Guild charter: original saved with all previous signatures on Eonwe's Auros character.
Added another account to the charter during the meeting: MerryV (Varda's brother).
Still need more gold to unlock the tabard after we get the charter. (Sauron sent two gold the next day. We need ten to unlock, so that was a big help! Varda does a "bake sale" with cooking ability to send in the odd bit of silver.)
"Guardians of Blizzard" - npc's with instant death ability guard incomplete areas of the world, still being programmed. Since we are an honorable group, if we are killed by straying too close, take the durability hit to your armor by rezzing with the graveyard's spirit lady, then find a weaponsmith to repair it. Don't go after your body in the incomplete zone. Also run the risk of a 72-hour ban if insist on going in.
Making Valar channel: /join Valar. A number is assigned to your character and may change when others join the channel. Type /# <spacebar>message. This is like having a pre-guild channel. Type /chatwho Valar to find out who else is in the channel.

(17:24:10) VardaValar1: Go ahead
(17:24:18) Menelvagor Valar: I have just updated the News Fader on the MB
(17:24:29) VardaValar1: What did you change?
(17:24:36) VardaValar1: MB = Forum
(17:24:44) Menelvagor Valar: now displays a message of Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year
(17:24:46) ArPharazonV: AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
(17:24:52) ArPharazonV: :)
(17:24:53) VardaValar1: Woot! : )
(17:25:00) Menelvagor Valar: in rather large letters :)
(17:25:12) VardaValar1: Thanks Menelvagor! I will definitely check that out!
(17:25:13) ArPharazonV: it looks cool
(17:25:18) ArPharazonV:
(17:25:20) ArPharazonV: quick link
(17:25:52) VardaValar1: Hehe - you are not kidding about large letters!
(17:25:53) Menelvagor Valar: I will leave the Merry Xmas up until around New Year's and New Year's until about beginning of feb
(17:26:11) Menelvagor Valar: thought they should stand out :)
(17:26:28) Menelvagor Valar: even in a pre-made forum, a little knowledge in HTML is quite handy :)
(17:26:34) VardaValar1: Very true!
(17:26:48) Menelvagor Valar: gives me an idea
(17:26:49) VardaValar1: We have another bit of Member business you can all help with
(17:26:54) Menelvagor Valar: will be done in a sec
(17:26:55) VardaValar1: What idea?
(17:26:58) VardaValar1: Go ahead : )
(17:27:50) VardaValar1: Ahh, you mean you are implementing it now : )
(17:27:56) VardaValar1: meanwhile...
(17:28:07) VardaValar1: We need to be doing our end of year activity sweep
(17:28:39) VardaValar1: If you see someone who usually can't make it to meetings, maybe you could tell us or
have him send an email to Varda
(17:28:56) VardaValar1: We are very scattered now and could use all member help
(17:29:20) VardaValar1: I don't want to accidentally drop someone who's active or would like to remain in the group
(17:29:39) VardaValar1: People who don't have time to game could move into Tolkien-only member status, then shift
 back later
(17:29:45) VardaValar1: Names shift too, heh
(17:30:01) VardaValar1: Even mentioning them at a meeting helps
(17:30:24) ArPharazonV: well, in that case I mention Fladrif, just to keep him safe from the sweep
(17:30:32) VardaValar1: Thanks, Phar : )
(17:30:32) ArPharazonV: he is still around, still enjoys being in the guild
(17:30:33) ArathornValar: hmmm

(17:30:48) Orodreth V: Just so you all know. ;-)
(17:30:49) ArathornValar: Saw an old member in WoW... looking for name
(17:30:52) ArPharazonV: he joined last time, I believe, although he did not say much...
(17:31:24) VardaValar1: There are lots of Tolkien names on WoW, many are not our guys : )
(17:31:46) ArathornValar: this one is trust me...
(17:31:56) VardaValar1: Oh good : )
(17:31:58) ArathornValar: just need to track down name
(17:32:11) VardaValar1: Orodreth, what should we all know?
(17:32:19) VardaValar1: Thanks, Arathorn :)
(17:32:21) Eonwe Valar: How did you find out he was a member?
(17:32:51) Orodreth V: ;-)
(17:33:06) VardaValar1: MerryV just got his WoW for Christmas, sitting in the Temple Square awaiting charter news
(17:33:14) ArPharazonV: ;)?
(17:33:42) Orodreth V: I won't do the assualt and battery..however much he may deserve it.
(17:34:28) ArathornValar: he said he was and joined our party for a while.. I think Bilbo was there too.. can't remember everyone else..
just can't find name :-/ ...
(17:34:49) VardaValar1: Bilbo is sleeping so I can't ask him
(17:34:49) Orodreth V left the room.
(17:35:27) ArathornValar: I was playing my elf so need to log on to see if he's in the friends list.. I may not have added.. hmm..
(17:35:31) VardaValar1: Is it in one of your friend lists?
(17:35:59) Menelvagor Valar: ep, it works
(17:36:02) Menelvagor Valar: yep*
(17:36:11) Menelvagor Valar: made both messages rollercoaster style
(17:37:00) ArPharazonV: :)
(17:37:26) Menelvagor Valar: and of course, because I haven't said so here,
(17:37:32) Menelvagor Valar: MERRY XMAS everyone!!!
(17:37:38) VardaValar1: Hannon le : )
(17:37:47) ArPharazonV: Merry Christmas to every single one of you...
(17:37:51) VardaValar1: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year : )

(17:38:00) VardaValar1: Web Pages:
(17:38:01) ArPharazonV: and may the happy new year shine upon each ;)
(17:38:21) VardaValar1: You already know about my comp dying of virus
(17:38:37) Menelvagor Valar: caught a cold?
(17:38:41) VardaValar1: Eonwe is planning on starting the Games page update webwork tomorrrow
(17:38:46) ArathornValar: WoW name is Ardamire (can't remem guild name) will have to check our list
(17:39:00) VardaValar1: So I hope you have all sent in your info!
(17:39:06) VardaValar1: If not, email him right away
(17:39:25) VardaValar1: Is he on?
(17:39:40) VardaValar1: Ardamire I mean : )
(17:39:43) ArathornValar: Not right now. HE mentionde he might be emailing you so..
(17:39:49) VardaValar1: Ahh, good!
(17:40:12) VardaValar1: I can work on email from other comps, np
(17:41:44) VardaValar1: Gaming News:
(17:42:07) VardaValar1: We are still collecting accounts and silver and gold to start the guild branch on World of WarCraft
(17:42:29) Menelvagor Valar: about a month left until 2 more accounts can be added to the score :)
(17:42:45) VardaValar1: We may be needing you to help us start at this rate : )
(17:42:55) GwaihirValar: prolly... it takes ten accounts, not ten characters
(17:43:00) VardaValar1: Right
(17:43:10) ArPharazonV: the time is nearing when I must make the final decision...
(17:43:11) VardaValar1: MerryV has been added to our accounts
(17:43:18) VardaValar1: But Grimbold is out of town
(17:43:24) ArPharazonV: the monthly fee has never left the back of my head
(17:43:27) VardaValar1: We have some potential recruits
(17:43:28) Menelvagor Valar: practically the same thing, unless Bliz is using a split-account sort of thingy
(17:43:41) VardaValar1: Go mow lawns or shovel snow, according to your climate ;)
(17:44:02) VardaValar1: Or play D2X. That's good too : )
(17:44:02) ArPharazonV: right, but if I get a job, I won't have much time for WoW in any case ;)
(17:44:10) Menelvagor Valar: neither here, but pretty cold regardless :)
(17:44:20) VardaValar1: You can make time for anything you really want to do
(17:44:32) VardaValar1: Just not as much time as you'd like!
(17:44:47) VardaValar1: Good luck in any case
(17:44:49) ArPharazonV: the question is: will the time be worth the fee?
(17:45:22) ArPharazonV: will the time I can play it be worth working the rest of the time to be able to pay the fee
so I can play it in the first time?
(17:45:22) VardaValar1: That's a personal opinion. I really like the game myself
(17:45:36) VardaValar1: Maybe you can wait for Middle-earth Online! : )
(17:45:46) ArPharazonV: and that helps how? will the fee be less?
(17:45:54) VardaValar1: Merry just signed the guild charter : )
(17:46:11) VardaValar1: Anyone here who can pop in and sign, please do
(17:46:15) Eonwe Valar: If you pay for more months at once, you do pay less than if you pay for one month at a time
(17:46:22) VardaValar1: Aye, Eonwe
(17:46:22) Menelvagor Valar: well, you can always buy WoW with the one month free subscription and see if it worth it
(17:46:34) ArPharazonV: well, that's true, of course
(17:46:36) Eonwe Valar: but that "less" is compared to monthly payments, say 13.99 per month as opposed to 15.99
(17:46:41) VardaValar1: Or try it at a friend's house
(17:46:53) Menelvagor Valar: 10.99 euro's here
(17:47:03) ArPharazonV: I'll probably be the first to buy it, should I buy it....
(17:47:10) ArPharazonV: in my neighbourhood
(17:47:26) VardaValar1: Eonwe, you had Gaming News?
(17:47:32) ArPharazonV: unless Fladrif acts on an impulse all of a sudden...
(17:47:54) VardaValar1: Go Fladrif! : )
(17:48:14) VardaValar1: Hasty ent
(17:48:20) ArPharazonV: one thing's for certain, though
(17:48:39) ArPharazonV: if the fee for WoW is enough to hold me away from something I have waited so long for
(17:48:51) ArPharazonV: there will be very little chance of me going into MeO
(17:49:01) Eonwe Valar: Aye, I had Gaming news
(17:49:07) VardaValar1: Go ahead, Eonwe
(17:49:11) Eonwe Valar: First : WC3
(17:49:22) Eonwe Valar: There's a new map out,.. a racing map of all things :}
(17:49:30) ArPharazonV: nice...
(17:50:03) Eonwe Valar: Second : Make sure you all who are part of the WC3 group and playing WoW are still
signing in every 28 days on your WC3 accounts
(17:50:14) Eonwe Valar: some of us are on the edge, and some are a bit over
(17:50:19) ArPharazonV: aye, it's about to fall apart
(17:50:22) Menelvagor Valar: I have a question on that
(17:50:25) ArPharazonV: the warning has been given...
(17:50:30) ArPharazonV: your fate is now your own
(17:50:54) Shaggyjoe: eh?
(17:50:59) VardaValar1: Ok, my bunch will try to come in this week, next few days
(17:51:04) Menelvagor Valar: I have also seen the message "your clan is in danger of expiring due to inactivity
 by your clan leader"
(17:51:05) Eonwe Valar: The fate of the WC3 branch has been in the hands of the WC3 guys for some time :}
(17:51:25) Eonwe Valar: I logged in within the last week anda half, so it should not be there
(17:51:38) Menelvagor Valar: Now, with WoW occupying most of our time, is it needed if we keep the WC3 clan?
(17:51:52) VardaValar1: Menelvagor, can you pop in and see if the message is still there about the clan leader?
(17:51:53) Menelvagor Valar: we already have our "own" channel
(17:52:10) VardaValar1: You mean Valar? We can't do ops there
(17:52:19) Menelvagor Valar: it changed a few days back to "members" instead of "leader"
(17:52:29) VardaValar1: Thanks, Menel
(17:52:39) Menelvagor Valar: true, but with us having meetings in AIM, do we need the ops?
(17:52:40) ArPharazonV: well, I check it at least once every few days
(17:52:45) Shaggyjoe: so everyone has partaken in WoW? the RvR was horrid in beta, and I hear that its just as bad atm.
although bliz is planning to add an honor system?
(17:52:50) Eonwe Valar: Hmm, loged in more recently than even I thought,.. only 5 days ago
(17:52:53) VardaValar1: Ops is not just for meetings
(17:53:15) ArPharazonV: one thing, also
(17:53:29) Menelvagor Valar: I know, but isn't that where our vast net of back-up channels do the trick?
(17:53:30) Eonwe Valar: I want to keep the WC3 group alive for those who still play it and are intersted in playing
 it with Guild guys
(17:53:31) VardaValar1: Gelmir, just 7 WoW accounts known, maybe 8
(17:53:43) ArPharazonV: if the clan dies, we won't have ready access to each other... it's not just about losing the channel
(17:53:45) VardaValar1: Aye. Not everyone is willing to do pay for play
(17:54:00) VardaValar1: We always have Valar channel, Phar
(17:54:04) VardaValar1: Just not ops
(17:54:13) Menelvagor Valar: my point exactly
(17:54:16) ArPharazonV: what is 'ops'?
(17:54:18) Eonwe Valar: despite the appearance that the group's in its death pangs, I'd like to have something
for those who like the game
(17:54:28) VardaValar1: Being able to kick annoying people from our channel, for one
(17:54:35) VardaValar1: Aye, Eonwe
(17:54:41) Menelvagor Valar: true
(17:54:50) Menelvagor Valar: but I rarely see anyone online anyways
(17:54:58) VardaValar1: We have a responsibility to the members playing WC3/TFT and who will get it in the future
(17:54:59) ArPharazonV: that's true, unfortunately
(17:55:07) VardaValar1: Are you sure your friend list is good?
(17:55:11) ArPharazonV: I only see Morifinwe once in a while
(17:55:18) VardaValar1: Ever see Faramir now?
(17:55:19) Menelvagor Valar: I can see through clan list
(17:55:24) VardaValar1: Okie dokie
(17:55:32) VardaValar1: That is another way to check for activity
(17:55:36) ArPharazonV: other than that, I never see anybody from my friends-list... and there are at least 15 names
 from the Guild in there
(17:55:40) Eonwe Valar: Another thing to think about, do we really want someone else taking the name and representing
"us" on bnet? I've noticed sinec our use of Valar has gone down, there's strange people in there often
(17:55:42) VardaValar1: It can show you are alive and in the guild
(17:55:45) Menelvagor Valar: although I must admit, it has a little bit of a lag on it
(17:55:51) VardaValar1: True, Eonwe
(17:56:02) Eonwe Valar: I've seen Faramir on WC3 at times, but he has never responded to my whisper
(17:56:10) VardaValar1: ouch
(17:56:22) ArPharazonV: Morifinwe gets on sometimes, under the name 'add'
(17:56:33) ArPharazonV: other than that, I hardly ever see anybody
(17:56:55) ArPharazonV: and I haven't played with a guild-member for months, it seems
(17:56:56) Menelvagor Valar: Valid points.... so I guess for now we agree on keeping WC3 alive, by proxie, as it seems?
(17:57:03) VardaValar1: If we get rid of all our organization every time we go through a valley, we would have nothing during peaks
(17:57:13) VardaValar1: This has been true of other games too
(17:57:17) Menelvagor Valar: see above :)
(17:57:51) VardaValar1: In any case, Eonwe has the option of calling for disbanding if he feels it to be needed
(17:57:54) Eonwe Valar: After the new semester starts, I'll look at my schedule and set aside a couple of hours
during the week, one day for WC3 and one for WoW
(17:58:22) ArPharazonV: it's a simple fact: we need 10 people for the clan.. if less than 10 are interested, our
fall is inevitable
(17:58:34) VardaValar1: Yes, Phar. We know
(17:58:44) ArPharazonV: you can't force people to check in for a game they're not even interested in anymore
(17:58:45) Eonwe Valar: well, our fall in WC3 anyway :}
(17:58:52) VardaValar1: Ten people in anything is hard to get
(17:58:52) Menelvagor Valar: but until then, we carry on the true Valar legacy: we will not give in without a fight! :)
(17:58:53) ArPharazonV: yes, in WC3...
(17:58:56) VardaValar1: We are very scattered
(17:59:24) VardaValar1: Are you trying at all to scout in WC3?
(17:59:35) VardaValar1: If we don't scout and recruit, we will not have the numbers
(17:59:39) Menelvagor Valar: if I meet someone through gaming, aye
(17:59:41) VardaValar1: We will always be losing people
(17:59:56) ArPharazonV: aye, I try to make contact to those who are interested
(17:59:57) VardaValar1: I haven't seen any letter from them. Maybe Eonwe?
(17:59:57) Eonwe Valar: if you find any good prospects for membership while gaming, don't forget you can
point them to a meeting or to a tester
(18:00:07) VardaValar1: Give them the web page
(18:00:09) Menelvagor Valar: but even then, hard to come by, and even harder to keep them interested, among others
(18:00:12) VardaValar1: Aye
(18:00:20) VardaValar1: What keeps you interested? You
(18:00:22) Eonwe Valar: No, I haven't seen anything Varda.
(18:00:24) VardaValar1: have been here a long time
(18:00:37) VardaValar1: Whatever it is may do the same for them
(18:00:39) Menelvagor Valar: fond memories :)
(18:00:44) VardaValar1: Thanks Eonwe
(18:00:47) VardaValar1: Of what? : )
(18:01:00) VardaValar1: Maybe we can create new memories
(18:01:08) Menelvagor Valar: of the things I have done with the Guild in various games
(18:01:10) Eonwe Valar: Varda beat me to it :}
(18:01:20) ArPharazonV: I've been spending most of my war3 time playing Tolkien-maps... I'll scout a
little more intensely from now on, I see lots of people with Tolkien-names
(18:01:21) Menelvagor Valar: oh, new ones being created every day
(18:01:24) VardaValar1: Elixer of Fast Typing
(18:01:41) VardaValar1: Thanks, Phar
(18:01:49) Eonwe Valar: Things like a screenshot of us all signing the charter, a massive quest to
leads members to Stormwind,.. these are things we can look back on and tell new members about
(18:01:51) VardaValar1: Our recruiting efforts dropped very badly
(18:01:55) VardaValar1: Aye, Eonwe : )
(18:02:06) VardaValar1: The snow pics Arathorn did for WoW too : )
(18:02:24) Eonwe Valar: Aye, the snowball fight :}
(18:02:25) ArPharazonV: just today, I played a War of the Jewels game with somebody called Hurin Thalion and a Turgon
(18:02:30) VardaValar1: Nice : )
(18:02:40) ArPharazonV: and they were in contact with somebody called Fingolfin
(18:02:49) Menelvagor Valar: the same one as my "clone", seeming ages ago?
(18:02:58) VardaValar1: We need Gwaihir and Arathorn to sign the charter. Merry and Auros have done so
(18:03:01) ArPharazonV: this one is called 'Turgon.'
(18:03:04) ArPharazonV: with the .
(18:03:09) Menelvagor Valar: ah ok :)
(18:03:18) VardaValar1: Period. Hmm. Neat idea
(18:03:20) ArPharazonV: but in any case, it shows there are still a lot of fans out there
(18:03:31) VardaValar1: Tons, especially since the movies
(18:03:36) ArPharazonV: and not just about the movies, but also about the books
(18:03:47) VardaValar1: When scouting, be careful they have read the Lotr or are interested in doing so
(18:03:47) ArPharazonV: as is shown by the Silmarillion-names often used
(18:03:51) VardaValar1: Aye
(18:03:58) Eonwe Valar: Pardon, have more gamign news if we're done with WC3
(18:04:00) VardaValar1: I met Hyarmendacil on WoW : )
(18:04:07) VardaValar1: Eonwe, your floor : )
(18:04:11) ArPharazonV: so I'll see what I can do in War3
(18:04:18) Eonwe Valar: WoW:
(18:04:49) Eonwe Valar: Believe it or not, Blizzard has places in WoW that are not yet completed.
(18:05:05) ArathornValar: Charter? I thought the WoW charter was lost sicne we didn't have enough?
(18:05:05) Menelvagor Valar: <--- believer
(18:05:09) Eonwe Valar: They ar ein the process of testing, building, and balancing.
(18:05:18) VardaValar1: Arathorn, we try again every weekend : )
(18:05:18) Eonwe Valar: (I'll mention that momentarily Arathorn)
(18:06:08) ArPharazonV: that's one of the reasons we pay a montly fee... so they can keep up the
developments and balancing :)
(18:06:29) ArPharazonV: the reason, actually
(18:06:36) Eonwe Valar: Blizzard has done its best to bar these places from Player access, but
(18:07:29) Eonwe Valar: some crafty people have managed to get in, and other places may not be all that well protected
(18:08:05) ArPharazonV: I've heard stories about players doing corpse-runs to get past lines of instant-death-guardians...
(18:08:24) Eonwe Valar: These places are supposed to have guys titled "Guardians of Blizzard"
(18:08:35) ArPharazonV: die, go back, get as far as possible, revive, die again, etc
(18:08:52) ArPharazonV: huge infernals with an instantdeath-spell
(18:09:02) Eonwe Valar: If you see these guys, do not enter and do not attempt to kill anything in that area
(18:09:15) ArPharazonV: well, that's what they used to be in the beta, anyway...
(18:09:22) Eonwe Valar: if you die, take the durability hit and rez at the gravyard
(18:09:30) Eonwe Valar: Otherwise, you run the risk of a 72 hour ban
(18:09:30) Menelvagor Valar: why not simply put up an invisible wall?
(18:09:31) ArathornValar: Seems pointless. Talk about curiousity killing the cat :-P
(18:10:04) Eonwe Valar: Alot of people have said that Menel,.. no response other than don't go in
(18:10:12) ArathornValar: They seem to have done that in Stormwind
(18:10:13) Eonwe Valar: and they won't tell you exactly what areas they are either
(18:10:20) Eonwe Valar: Stormwind?
(18:10:22) ArathornValar: Haven't you noticed the bocked portal?
(18:10:29) ArathornValar: *blocked
(18:10:35) Eonwe Valar: ah I see
(18:10:58) Menelvagor Valar: anyways, I need to get some sleep, haven't gotten any in the last 34 hours or so
(18:11:03) Eonwe Valar: They've said they have tried, but there is always someone who tries to get around it,
 and someone who succeeds
(18:11:23) ArathornValar: Then there's also a blocked gate in the dwarven area
(18:11:29) Eonwe Valar: Just make sure that when you see "Gaurdians of Blizzard" you go no further
(18:11:42) Menelvagor Valar: just one minor point before I go though.
(18:11:57) GwaihirValar: those are un-done instances
(18:11:58) GwaihirValar: d*
(18:11:59) Menelvagor Valar: I will be playing a lot on Stormrage with my Horde buddies
(18:12:08) GwaihirValar: the blocked portals
(18:12:09) GwaihirValar: usually
(18:12:18) Menelvagor Valar: Namarie
(18:12:18) GwaihirValar: Battlegrounds soon!!
(18:12:27) Menelvagor Valar: and sleep tight everyone!
(18:12:29) ArPharazonV: Namarie!
(18:12:30) GwaihirValar: sleep well
(18:12:39) Menelvagor Valar left the room.
(18:13:57) Eonwe Valar: Think that 's it, except we now have 7 unique accoutns playing WoW
(18:14:15) VardaValar1: Gwaihir, can you sign the charter before you skip out?
(18:14:22) ArPharazonV: 3 to go...
(18:15:06) VardaValar1: I would like to bring in my account
(18:15:17) VardaValar1: It is not the same as Merry's
(18:15:23) VardaValar1: Are you ready for me?
(18:15:47) VardaValar1: She will pop up at the Temple Square
(18:16:08) Eonwe Valar: That's where I am
(18:16:31) GwaihirValar: alright I will
(18:16:37) GwaihirValar: I'm in Stormwind now... at the tailors
(18:16:38) VardaValar1: afk while I swipe the comp from Merry : )
(18:18:38) GwaihirValar: k
(18:19:18) ArathornValar: I'm confused, why are you buying a charter that can't be finalzed?
(18:19:51) VardaValar1: It's the old charter still
(18:19:58) VardaValar1: I just found out
(18:20:03) VardaValar1: We keep adding names
(18:20:08) ArathornValar: how did you keep it open?

(18:20:09) VardaValar1: For instance Merry's tonight
(18:20:21) ArathornValar: I thought it lapsed when Eonwe logged off?
(18:21:01) VardaValar1: Not if it's saved - by the way, there's been a comp swap and I'm not Varda,
I'm just a humble hobbit aka Merry
(18:21:40) Eonwe Valar: Well, I didn't want to get anyone's hopes up, but it stayed in my bank
(18:21:52) VardaValar1: Varda is popping into WoW over on the other side of the table.
(18:22:19) ArathornValar: Was there a save option Eonwe?
(18:22:26) VardaValar1: Not having my own AIM account, I'm just borryin' the loan of hers.
(18:22:31) Eonwe Valar: Whether that means it's still viable I don't know, as it would not surprise me
if the Charter guy ate the charter and told me it was tasty.
(18:22:41) ArathornValar: LOL!
(18:22:51) VardaValar1: If it's tasty, they should stomach it wel.
(18:22:54) VardaValar1: well.
(18:23:21) ArathornValar: He'll probably want to to buy Stormwind spices to put on it first! <snortle!> :-P
(18:23:41) Eonwe Valar: The only way we'll know for sure is when we collect the final signatures, but we'll
all 10 need to be there anyway.
(18:23:47) VardaValar1: Jalapeno pequins... with wasabi..
(18:23:55) ArathornValar: Ok, well if it's still viable why do I need to sign it, I did last time?
(18:24:04) Eonwe Valar: and after we complete the charter, I want to use the time after meeting for
getting together in WoW for quests
(18:24:27) Eonwe Valar: You don't
(18:24:29) GwaihirValar: I need to go soon... can I sign :)
(18:24:42) Eonwe Valar: you've signed this one Gwaihir
(18:24:43) VardaValar1: Getting 10 of us at once ought to be interesting.. a quest in itself.
(18:24:51) GwaihirValar: ah, okay
(18:24:53) ArathornValar: Ahh okm because Varda mentioend Gwai and I had to sign...
(18:25:13) Eonwe Valar: Likely that's because I didn't explain myself well.
(18:25:32) ArathornValar: What do you mean by that? <runs for cover!..>

(18:25:34) GwaihirValar: well then we're off :)
(18:25:37) Eonwe Valar: As I said, I didn't want to get anyone's hopes up, and hadn't intended to
mention it until we had the 10 signatures
(18:25:50) VardaValar1: We're still getting used to this system of WoW craftiness.
(18:26:17) ArathornValar: Craftiness.. heh.. that's a nice way of putting it :-P
(18:26:44) GwaihirValar: I'm enjoying the crafting a lot
(18:26:49) GwaihirValar: enchanting is tough to level though
(18:26:54) GwaihirValar: oh, by the way
(18:26:58) ArathornValar: hmm.. In WoW anyone have any copper ore they can part with?
(18:26:59) VardaValar1: Yes.. we can develop the craft of crafting craftiness...
(18:27:00) GwaihirValar: for all you who can only play very irregularly
(18:27:04) Eonwe Valar: Aye, I miss being able to give my old stuff to ppl
(18:27:23) GwaihirValar: resting CAN be carried over levels
(18:27:29) GwaihirValar: provided you make sure to gain your levle using quest exp
(18:27:34) GwaihirValar: I've tested it on this mage
(18:27:41) Eonwe Valar: I've seen it in action :}
(18:27:43) GwaihirValar: who hasn't gained any exp in over 2 weeks
(18:27:49) Eonwe Valar: I've pushed 2 lvls that way :}
(18:27:53) GwaihirValar: and she has her ENTIRE level still
(18:27:53) GwaihirValar: :)
(18:28:00) GwaihirValar: just making sure it's noted :)
(18:28:07) GwaihirValar: but we're going now!
(18:28:14) Eonwe Valar: take care :}
(18:28:17) GwaihirValar: we've got a movie to see and dinner to eat
(18:28:18) GwaihirValar: cya!
(18:28:20) VardaValar1: Namarie!
(18:28:24) GwaihirValar left the room.
(18:34:03) Shaggyjoe left the room.
(18:35:27) Eonwe Valar: Anyone still here after those departures?
(18:35:43) ArPharazonV: still here
(18:35:48) ArPharazonV: though chatting with somebody else
(18:36:25) VardaValar1: Back
(18:36:31) VardaValar1: Merry is looking over my shoulde4r
(18:36:36) Eonwe Valar: ok that's one
(18:36:41) VardaValar1: Must trim fingernails : )
(18:36:49) Eonwe Valar: Varda's using leet speak! :}
(18:36:58) VardaValar1: ack!
(18:37:05) VardaValar1: I'll throw myself out of the chat!!
(18:37:12) Eonwe Valar: hehe :}
(18:37:38) VardaValar1: Guess we're it
(18:37:45) VardaValar1: So you off to eat?
(18:37:59) VardaValar1: We may check out the turkey if you're going
(18:38:02) ArathornValar: hmm.. did you both leave WoW or get booted?
(18:38:07) Eonwe Valar: I left
(18:38:07) VardaValar1: I left
(18:38:12) VardaValar1: No point in my being there
(18:38:17) Eonwe Valar: I just stopped in for Merry's signature
(18:38:24) ArathornValar: ha! looked like a mass exodus
(18:38:28) Eonwe Valar: hehe
(18:38:32) VardaValar1: We are getting to the number we need
(18:38:36) ArathornValar: I wanetd to mention something re WoW..
(18:38:40) VardaValar1: I wonder how long that charter lasts?
(18:38:43) Eonwe Valar: sure
(18:38:45) VardaValar1: Fire, Arathorn
(18:39:01) VardaValar1: And I have potential recruits coming in ;)
(18:39:02) Eonwe Valar: it's soulbound, so I guess until the end of my character's natural life, such as it is? :}
(18:39:09) ArathornValar: Eonwe's brother, Bilbo and I were using a "Valar" channel that we joined in wow...
(18:39:10) VardaValar1: Wow
(18:39:47) Eonwe Valar: how'd you do that?
(18:39:55) ArathornValar: basically if uoi /join Valar every time you log on afterwards in that char it
 adds you to the channel
(18:40:09) VardaValar1: /join Valar
(18:40:18) Eonwe Valar: excellent
(18:40:22) VardaValar1: We must do that! Great!
(18:40:24) VardaValar1: Thanks
(18:40:29) Eonwe Valar: Aye, let's start using that
(18:40:38) Eonwe Valar: Good job to you three :}
(18:40:41) VardaValar1: Pre-guild channel : )
(18:40:43) ArathornValar: And then you can create a window for Valar that will hold only it;s messages (using the same method I described in the forum)
(18:41:01) ArathornValar: But they also appear in General
(18:41:24) ArathornValar:
only drawback is that you have to type the random number that is assigned to it
(18:41:33) Eonwe Valar: ah, so not quite so private
(18:41:51) VardaValar1: Not private then, but shows in everyone's General chat?
(18:42:07) ArathornValar: i.e. if you logon it tells you "Joined Valar #x" and then to talk in it you type "/x [spacebar]'
(18:42:26) ArathornValar: no only in yours, because you joined the channel
(18:42:27) VardaValar1: Not <enter>. Useful to know
(18:42:45) VardaValar1: So it is private
(18:42:50) ArathornValar: yeah unfort enter only works for SAY and PARTY
(18:43:14) Eonwe Valar: and raid when you're in one
(18:43:36) VardaValar1: We are going to eat and let Merry fly home
(18:43:39) Eonwe Valar: gues we've got something new to try out and get used to this week
(18:43:45) ArathornValar: Not necessarily.. depends which channels are assigned to Raid
(18:43:46) VardaValar1: He should have been an Eagle ;)
(18:43:54) Eonwe Valar: take care Varda
(18:43:55) VardaValar1: Namarie
(18:43:59) VardaValar1: Thanks
(18:44:08) Eonwe Valar: you can type /raid and speak to the entire raid Arathorn
(18:44:13) Eonwe Valar: enjoy your meal
(18:44:32) ArathornValar: yes, but that doesn't mean your valar messages will be in there
(18:44:35) Eonwe Valar: that's how I did it last week when we tried formign the GUild
(18:44:45) Eonwe Valar: ah, well I didn't mean that
(18:44:49) ArathornValar: but aid is created from the Party
(18:44:54) ArathornValar: er Raid
(18:45:05) VardaValar1: Aye, /raid worked well. Just can't do individual quests there
(18:45:09) ArathornValar: misunderstood you then
(18:45:10) VardaValar1: Now, namarie : )
(18:45:12) Eonwe Valar: I thought you were talkign about not being able to set it with /s /p or /raid and
then not having to do it again when talking to that group
(18:45:17) VardaValar1 left the room.
(18:45:36) Eonwe Valar: i.e. /raid Heya
(18:45:41) Eonwe Valar: (response)
(18:45:46) Eonwe Valar: I'm fine
(18:45:54) Eonwe Valar: as opposed to /raid Heya
(18:46:00) Eonwe Valar: /raid I'm fine
(18:46:26) ArathornValar:
ahh I see.. yes so those 3 (omitted raid but yes, you're right). But the Valar one you create works like the General one
(18:46:35) Eonwe Valar: ok got it
(18:46:57) Eonwe Valar: If we can have someone in it at all times, might someday prove useful as a recruiting tool as well
(18:46:58) ArathornValar: i.e. you HAVE to type '/# [space]' to message in it
(18:47:26) ArathornValar: actually if no on'es in it it auto creaets one just like in Bnet so..
(18:47:38) Eonwe Valar: I mean so the number doesn't change
(18:47:46) ArathornValar: to check who's in it its '/chatwho Valar'
(18:48:11) ArathornValar: actually it changes for each character depending on which channels thatchar auto joins
(18:48:26) ArathornValar:
NORMALLY it's #4
(18:48:31) Eonwe Valar: ah, so the number is local to the character, not global to the server
(18:48:45) ArathornValar: But if for whatever reason that char has joined anotehr it gets bumped up
(18:48:49) ArathornValar: exactly
(18:48:52) Eonwe Valar: got it
(18:49:27) Eonwe Valar: I must go as well
(18:49:35) Eonwe Valar: I might be on WoW later tonight though
(18:49:37) ArathornValar: most often that not it will be 4 tho, unless you've tinkered with chat
(18:49:55) ArathornValar: Ok, I'm off to make some leather :-P
(18:49:56) Eonwe Valar: hehe I've barely tinkered with more than the appearance of my screen :}
(18:50:03) Eonwe Valar: take care and have fun :}
(18:50:15) ArathornValar: I've recoded the back end so I can play in my sleep <snortle!!>
(18:50:23) ArathornValar: Namarie
(18:50:26) Eonwe Valar: hehe
(18:50:31) Eonwe Valar left the room.
