Nienna

In honor of the 20th Anniversary of the Valar Guild

I wept for a long day
In the gardens of Lórien,
And the roots of the silver
Flowers, watered by my tears,
sighed in the soft soil.
And those tears, I imagine,
Would have drenched
Every inch of parched earth
In the Great Lands to the East,
And made every grass
That shoots forth never fade
In green again. Would Men
Have been happy then? –
No, Men who always find their
Paths into the shadows;
Men who first awoke under
A star of sorrow, kindled
By Varda in the aftermath
Of a dream she dreamt
Of the terrors of eternity.
