In Quenya, Fingon is called Findekano.
Kano- means
"commander".
Fingon means "Hair-shout" but that is not the intended meaning; the
name Fingon is merely sound changing. Fingolfin may have added the
"fin" to the beginning of the name to symbolize Findekano as a
descendant of Finwe
