Only son of Thain Peregrin I, a member of the
Fellowship
of the Ring. Faramir succeded his father after Peregrin left the Shire
to spend his final years in Gondor. In 1463 (Shire Date) Faramir
married
Goldilocks, daughter of the prolific Master Samwise Gardener
(previously
Gamgee).
Faramir was named in honour of the Prince of
Ithilien.
