Damrod and Mablung
These two are rangers of Ithilien, Damrod and
Mablung.
They were soldiers of Gondor, and rangers of
Ithilien. They had descended from the people who lived in Ithilien at
one time, before it was apparently overrun. It was from these men and
men like them that Lord Denethor had chosen his "forayers" that crossed
the mighty Anduin in secret and harried the Orcs and other servants of
The One.
These two rangers told Frodo and Sam the story of
Old Gondor, in particular, its relation between itself and Harad.
