This paper was given by Franco Manni at a conference
Aug. 2005 at the 5Oth Anniversary Tolkien Conference in England,
for 700 people from dozens of countries. This was made more difficult
as he has some trouble with English, being Italian. A native speaker of
English helped him with the translation of this written version.
