Araphor was a dunadan and the ninth King of Arthedain. His father, Arveleg son of Argeleb, with the help of Lindon and Cardolan, drove back the orcs and evil beings that were in the Hills, and for many years the Kingdoms of Arthedain and Cardolan held the Weather Hills, The Great Road, and the lower Hoarwell. Then a great force was issued out of Angmar in 1409, entered Cardolan and surrounded Weathertop. The Dunedain were then defeated and Arveleg was slain. The Tower of Amon Sul was burned, but the palantir was saved and brought to Fornost.

This is when Araphor, still very young, but very valiant, lend the forces of Arthedain and, with the aid of Cirdan and the Havens, forced the enemy to retreat from Fornost and the North Downs. Angmar was held in for the forces of the elves of Imladris and Lindon came in soon after.

Araphor was succeeded for King by his son, Argeleb II.
