Amarië of the Vanyar was the beloved of King Finrod Felagund, but they did not marry, as he had a foreknowledge of his death. The name Amarië is Quenya elvish.
Felagund went into exile from Valinor with Fëanor's group, while Amarië remained behind in Valinor.
Finrod Felagund was the eldest son of Eärwen and of Finarfin the golden-haired, who was the third son of the Noldor King Finwë, who was the younger of Fëanor's half-brothers. The half was due to the mother's being Indis, a Vanyar elf, who was golden-haired. and close kin of Ingwë the High King of the Elves. Thus it was that Amarië, a Vanyar, could see Finrod as being like one of her people.
