We also have a new Place of Interest from Turbine: Sandyman's Mill!

Friday, August 18, 2006

The Party Tree has been announced as a new place of interest in LotRO.

Also, EA is creating an expansion for Battle for Middle-Earth 2. This will allow players to take control of the Witch-King's armies as he rises to power over Angmar and challenges the might of Arnor.

Earendil told us of a new MMO in the works called Vanguard. Check out his descriptions in the meeting news, or check out the site.

You can now toggle between the blue background and image background versions of the Games Page by clicking on the page title above.

Blizzard has released more info on the Naaru, the race that taught the Draenei about the Light. Read about it here.

Turbine has released info on another location in LotRO, The Forsaken Inn.

There is a sortable table for Uldaman players now, given under the Lothar players table. Give it a try!

In LotRO news, a new Dev Diary has been put up, telling about the crafting system. Check out Gandalf vs. Voltron.

In WoW news, check out some of the previews of the expansion at the sites listed on Blizzard's WoW Community Page. In one, Blizzard mentions that raids in the expansion will be limited to 25 players, at least for the forseeable future.

I've made some adjustments to the Sortable Player table so it works correctly now, and have made other adjustments as well. For text columns, empty spaces will now say "Unknown" when there's no info for that spot, and Numerical will give a "-1" to symbolize we don't have that info. This helps the sorting be more beneficial.

I've also arranged it so that the Players by Game choices will be Alphabetical, Enjoy!

Also, Turbine has released info on a place and a creature for LotRO: Bag End and Bog-Lurkers, respectively.

Tuesday, August 08, 2006

I made some adjustments to the Games Page to be more efficient, so that means less space used on the server. Plus, I'm testing out some tables for lists of players and stats that will let you sort by the info. For now, these will be linked on the left at the bottom under the heading "Sortable Game Player tables. Give it a try!

Also, Turbine has begun the Alpha stage for LotRO, which will cover both the alpha and beta testing phases for the game. For more info, check out this.

Turbine has changed their minds about raids in LotRO. It seems there will indeed be raids, but the largest will hold no more than 24 people, or 4 fellowships. This also confirms a fellowship(group) size of 6. For more info, read this.

Blizzard has also announced the official list of classes for the Draenei and Blood Elves. The Blood Elves are interestingly short of warriors. Take a look at the WoW: Burning Crusade page for more info.

Sunday, June 25, 2006

Blizzard announced a couple of days ago that, with the Burning Crusade Expansion to World of Warcraft, the Alliance will have access to Shaman via the Draenei and the Horde access to Paladins via the Blood Elves. For more info see here.

In addition, the LotRO Community Site has released info on another place and a person of interest: The former is the Withywindle, and the latter Tom Bombadil. Looks like LotRO joins the small and relatively notable list of incarnations of Lord of the Rings that feature our favorite merry old fellow.

I've also changed the news color in order to more perfectly find that balance between reading against a dark and light background.

The Valar Guild Games Page version 3.0 has been released! There are now two versions of the Games Page. Entering via index.php takes you to the version with a nice image as a background (set your monitor to 1280x 1024 and use full screen mode for correct viewing). Using index.htm will take you to the version friendly to those with slow connections and lower resolutions. Assuming your computer caches pages, though, it's really only one slow load for the background image, so you make the call :}

With the new games page comes the following changes:

  • The ability to sort Guild members by any game we play.
  • You can now see if you have gaming info up by selecting "None" in the form.
  • The Links pages are more thoroughly integrated into the Games Page.
  • Important non-gaming Valar Guild Links appear on the right.
  • Lots of reviews added to the Reviews Page, so go read them!
  • D2 Experiences link has been moved to the Reviews Page.
  • Reviews Page has been expanded to include console games!

Enjoy the new Games Page, and remember to send in your Gaming Info, Reviews, etc!

The Valar Guild Games Site is maintained by Eonwë-(Valar).
